Hopping spot in a strip mall that surprisingly needs to take reservations. Fortunately they also have a good size patio, with louvered roof and optional sun screens, but frankly got a little cool after sundown this June. But good seating option if the full size stage inside is filled with a band louder than conversation would allow. Their own beer selection was balanced. Both the cream ale and the vanilla porter (heavy on the coffee notes almost like an espresso martini) were both tasty. Sadly the signature gnocchi was a really unappetizing green color.(not like the picture on line, but a rich well fertilized lawn color) I guess thats what you get from pesto and spinach. Flavor was ok but way too rich. They fry chicken thighs for sandwiches and topper to salads and pasta -- a smart move. Say what you want about this one underrated chicken part but it makes for great fried chicken. Mine w Buffalo sauce hit the spot. Overall a fresh addition to our 'eat to live' routine. Don't let the detour deter you - this is our second trip to the Iron Exchange & it's consistently so good. We honestly went back because of the pizza and (wait for it...) the cauliflower! The cauliflower appetizer is our absolute favorite. We really will be forcing ourselves to branch out, but it's going to be really hard to stray from this menu item. Why? It's perfectly roasted and the lemon and tahini make it out of this world goodness just packed with flavor. And yes, you're eating healthy veggies so keeping it to yourself is something I support! For pizzas - get the big kahuna. We also got this both times, because it's just that good, too. When thinking about what size pizza to order, For the two of us, we split the cauliflower and ordered two small sized pizzas - with plenty of leftovers to take home! And, it would be wrong of me to not mention their awesome cocktails. Right now (summer 2021) they've got a spicy mango margarita on deck and it's the best. The bartender was hilarious, confirming for me that on my "Minnesota spicy scale" he would give this a 7. So I asked if he could dial it down and he made it a 4 - and for me that was perfect! I have tried to like Iron Exchange to support a business in our area but I just can't. The first time, I got the Walleye and it was cooked to death and tasteless. The second time, I got the crispy fish tacos and once again they were overcooked and tasteless. They needed a bit of acid.....something to give it more flavor. Amazing atmosphere, greeted with a smile, sat and served with a smile. These three things make it a 4 star experience. Then you add amazing food and it's a solid 5. We got the curds to start. Some of the best and we're gone in minutes with a fight for the last one. One order of Mac n cheese and I quote my 7 year "it's amazing, to die for " the rest of the family ate two pizzas. The Americano and one with just cheese for just the kids. Took half of both down and saved the rest for leftovers. The fish tacos were terrible .... tasteless; bland and dry. We asked for extra sauce with hope that it would make them palatable, but there was no hope. The extra bite was that they charged us 1.00 for the sauce that we needed just to get the terrible food down. I spoke to the acting manager and he was flippant and non-caring. Wow and wow, for whatever reason I wasn't expecting to have my socks blown off but it happened. I had a burger that was perfectly cooked with great flavor and the bacon was amazing. My wife got the breakfast pizza that came with gravy, whaaaaaaat. It was yummy. Lay but not least, had a virgin Bloody Mary that was made with tomatillos. Iron Exchange is a welcome addition to the community that I consider Westonka. I've eaten there several times with my husband and friends. We have always had charming, helpful servers and barkeeps. Several times a week there is an activity or band hosted and it's fun to watch the acts perform on the stage with the brew tanks gleaming in the background. This last time I was disappointed in the food, but ususally the appetizers and entrees are very good. Some of my regular menu items include the roasted cauliflower and brussel sprouts, the hanger steak with chimichurri, pizza and the burger. The brews are tasty, there are a good variety of beers along with an extensive drink and wine menu. The atmosphere is modern and pared down, but the bar itself has a very traditional feel and provides a comforting anchor to the space. It's definitely worth checking out Iron Exchange! read more

Stopped in for lunch today and had a great experience! The space is much larger than I expected and has really nice decor- industrial but modern. The food was excellent. We ordered the pretzel, poutine and chicken sandwich and were happy with all of it. My picky toddler said she'd eat the pretzel with cheese sauce every day :). Service was great, too. This place is amazing! The food is almost entirely from scratch--some of the best pretzels I've ever had. The whisky selection is carefully curated, and you'd be hard pressed to find any better in the western suburbs. They have 30 taps--most of which will soon flow with their on-site brew straight from the holding tanks. The space is well laid out with a nice stage (baby grand!!!) and window-views of the brewery and the kitchen. There's also plenty of TVs for the sports fans. read more

My husband and I split a grilled chicken sandwich and two side salads. The lettuce was slimy and wilted. I spoke to a chef and his response was "What do you want me to do about it?" We have experienced poor food and service before and will never spend another dollar at this place. I would love to talk to Todd and Mary Murley, the owners. They need to have their staff take a customer service class and clean up their food in the kitchen. It is certainly not worth the money! But BEWARE- they added a 3.9% charge called a "non-cash adjustment" because we wanted to pay with a credit card- like most people. Charging this at the point of sale is really a "surcharge" plain and simple. So if you want to pay with a credit card, be prepared to be tagged with a 3.9% surcharge. Also, I asked for some mayonnaise and they charged me a dollar for that too. I won't go back. read more

This is sorta a mixed review. First, I got the potato leek soup. Potato leek soup is typically just a creamy soup but when I got it, it had huge chunks of potato's and pieces of ham in it. It did not specify any of that on the menu. When I had my first bite of it, I was not expecting a ham flavor to it and I'm a vegetarian. Then, my kid ordered a Mac n cheese with onion rings. They brought the onion rings out with my soup and we were confused. It was a full appetizer of onion rings. The waiter assumed she wanted an adult Mac and cheese with an onion ring appetizer when in reality, she just was wanted the kids one. After she saw the onion rings she changed her mind and just ordered a apple sauce with her Mac n cheese. Keep in mind the kids Mac n cheese (w onion rings) is only $10 while the while the full size versions are $23 total. You can see why I'd be a little angry. The waiter quickly corrected it and the food was out quick. I got the lemon gnocchi primevera. It was OK but the gnocchi was a little soft (not sure if that's how it always is) and the mushrooms I didn't really care for. You better like lemon a lot if you order it because the flavor is very heavy: My kid said her Mac n cheese was "fine but nothing special." The waiter was pretty good. The overall atmosphere at the restaurant was nice too. It wasn't too busy or loud and the band they had was pretty good too. The restaurant was clean and spacious as well. read more

Great!!! We live in the area but had never visited before. My teenage son and I went here on a whim after swimming at the lake. We sat outside on a Monday at 6pm. We were both in swimming clothes and the friendly waiter said nothing about it. Thank you kind sir. We don't eat meat but it wasn't an issue. They had a vegetarian pizza and even fish tacos (if you are a pescatarian this restaurants has some options). If you DO like meat you'll have lots of pizza and other great looking choices. The waiter allowed me to taste the tap cider before purchasing a glass which was I appreciated. The pizzas came in fun, metal pans and apparently they are award winning 'Detroit style' pizzas. I'm not a fan of Chicago style deep dish, but to me these were amazing. We cook a lot of veggies at home and the ingredients tasted fresh, fresh, fresh. Kids will enjoy the presentation and different taste from standard kind of pies. The garden salads were incredible with dark green FRESH lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, croutons and other yummy bits. Water came chilled in a nice looking bottle that the waiter made sure was filled throughout our meal. Ooh! Almost forgot to add that the pizzas (we got three total because my husband and other son joined after we called to say the food looked great) each came with a GENEROUS side dish of very fresh sauce. Not the canned, thin variety but thick, flavorful and delicious the day after on anything you could imagine. We got our extra sauce to go and scraped every last bit out of the bowl. Yum. Yum. Yum. I can't give much detail about the interior because I didn't spend time in there, but it was large, looked very clean (including the bathrooms) and they had an expansive bar and stage area for live music.
