Brandy is a perfect fit for us and so loving. We have boarded her twice at Our Pals Place and their attentiveness to our questions, or instructions on what our Brandy eats. They let us bring her bed, blanket, toy, food and meds. Gigi, the Owner and Director is on site, and she makes everything so easy. We were on vacation, and we received two photos of our Brandy playing with large and small dogs. They introduced her to others slowly to make sure all was alright. Our Pal's Place is by far #1 in our book for this area. Privately run and not a large corporate boarding facility. I cannot say enough. Thank you, Gigi and your staff.

We found a beautiful German Shepard mix today at the Dollar Store up the street. We could tell the…read moredog belonged to someone because the dog looked very well cared for (the dog looked to be at least 80 pounds or more) but its obvious he is lost. The poor guy kept going up to every car in the parking lot hoping he would bump into someone he knew. At one point he actually ran toward the main intersection and we actually had to run out to grab him. After a quick search on Google we found Our Pal's and decided to bring the lost dog here to see if we can find his owner. We talked to Gigi the owner who was so nice and helpful. She gave us the name of a vet down the street (Shallowford Animal Hospital) who could check to see if he is chipped. We could tell Gia cared about our lost dog and even gave us a really strong leash to use... Thanks to Our Pal's we were able to find the lost dog's owner. Thanks Gia and the staff here....you guys are an animal's best friend.

I have been fostering with AARF for about 5 months and I love it! They offer a lot of support and…read moretraining to their volunteers and it is a really rewarding experience. I had my first foster dog for a few months and she recently got adopted to a wonderful family. I can't tell you how cool it was to help a dog who literally was on death row at a local shelter to get healthy again and then to find a new home. AARF made it a really easy and rewarding experience to volunteer and they help wonderful animals find great homes. There are other rescue groups in Atlanta and they are all doing amazing work. I'm certainly not saying AARF is any better than any other rescue group because I haven't volunteered with any others but I am saying that the people at AARF rock and I really love working with them.

Fostering an animal while it finds a home is one of the best things a person can do. Animals in tiny cages where they don't get room to run and play can get issues that can take years of training and care to treat. But, give a homeless animal a temporary home while you find a permanent one and it can learn from your other pets or just get used to what it is like to have a nice home. I am still training my dog on some basic lessons, but once she's ready to teach others, I plan to foster. Check their web site if you want to foster or need a pet yourself!

CSHS is a non-profit and No-kill animal shelter. They have adoptable dogs and cats on site. The kennels and cat rooms can be walked through and their cats/kittens are free roaming. They have all sorts of breeds and sizes of pets. Typically there are 60-80 adoptable animals. They need Volunteers! The Volunteers here are wonderful. They give the dogs and cats their time and love while awaiting forever homes. The shelter is need of donations as well. The main things they need are: Gallon bleach, Laundry soap, Wet pate dog or puppy food, and paper towels.

Pre-lim docs are sent via email prior to your appointment, to be reviewed and esigned, etc. Intake is also very well organized the morning of, with a volunteer lining us up neatly one by one in the parking area, for the extra volunteers to pick up your babies/exchange paperwork. Pickup is a little more crowd-based, everyone gathering in the lobby/seating area. A volunteer will come out to greet and brief parents on the pets' general state (post-procedure) and after-care required, with take-home paperwork provided as well. I will update again after my baby's recovery period is done, but so far so good!

Atlanta Humane Society knew that the two dogs they adopted to me were both unfit for adoption. The first dog (Meagan) I took to my VCA Veterinarian and even he told me that Atlanta Humane Society should have never adopted her out. He told me that she has so much anxiety and is not too social with people. She is social with other dogs. So, I asked him if he would write a letter of recommendation stating that he finds her to have too much anxiety and isn't too social with people and that he doesn't recommend her being placed for adoption. He did write the letter and I gave Meagan back to Atlanta Humane Society along with that letter from my VCA Veterinarian. When she (Meagan) was in my care, she never ate and she never drank. Not even my own VCA veterinarian could get her to eat and drink. She would only pace back and forth when kept indoors. The other dog I adopted from them (Zairya) did not like being held. When I held her, she wanted me to immediately put her down. She would not come when I called her name, she would just only hide under chairs and under tables. Also, she would bark loudly like crazy whenever she was in a crate or left alone. She too would not eat or drink. This is why I returned her back to Atlanta Humane Society as well. Atlanta Humane Society never told me about either dog's severe anxiety issues and they knew that neither dog was fit for adoption. Yet, they still adopted them out. It is clear that Atlanta Humane Society doesn't care about remedying the anxiety issues of their dogs before adopting them out. It is completely shady and absurd to me that they (Atlanta Humane Society) would knowingly adopt out two dogs with severe anxiety issues and then expect the adopter who adopted them to keep them. Atlanta Humane Society is the reason why I have now lost all trust in all animal shelters and they're also the reason why they have now made it completely hard and difficult for me to ever adopt again. I WILL NEVER EVER adopt from Atlanta Humane Society (including all other animal shelters) ever again. I will never again deal with nor set foot in another animal shelter ever again after these two horrible adoption experiences. When I adopted both dogs, they were both adopted to me completely smelly and filthy. I had to take each dog to a local self serve dog wash immediately after leaving with each one due them smelling so horribly and being so filthy. Please keep in mind that if you adopt any cat, kitten, dog, or puppy from Atlanta Humane Society...they will be adopted out to you completely smelly and filthy. They don't bother taking the time to bathe any of their animals before adopting them out and sending them off to their new home. I don't recommend Atlanta Humane Society, if you must adopt a dog...I recommend going elsewhere. Atlanta Humane Society doesn't care who adopts their animals as long as they're able to pay their grossly outrageously high adoption fees. They rely on people to pay their high adoption fees to fill their pockets and wallets. Atlanta Humane Society has now made me hate all animal shelters.

These people are there on a Sunday morning before 8:00, ready to do their jobs. One of the most impressive things is the organization of the whole process. Everyone is focused on whatever task they have. It's crowded, lots of dogs and people. Yet the experience for me was of organized efficiency. Staff communicate continually, with each other and all the people waiting. I really can't stress enough about what a completely successful visit I had. Again, I thank the awesome staff.

Paws is such a wonderful organization who are doing great work to save animals. It's such a…read morethankless job, but the staff and volunteers are truly angels on earth (and so kind!!). I am a first time foster and have been working with Christa, the foster coordinator at Paws, to find a foster match for my home and with my current dog. Christa has been incredible, very communicative and responsive, and is so personable and has such passion for what she's doing which beams just from her. The foster process has been so easy and they've made sure me and my dog are comfortable the entire way through! I'm excited to be a foster for a long time with Paws. Thank you for all the work you do for the community, but more so for the animals as well.

The staff are kind, friendly, and professional, and they truly show appreciation for our time. Those little gestures of gratitude and care mean so much and are often overlooked. The facility itself is incredibly clean, and the dogs and cats are clearly loved and exceptionally well cared for. The pups have great play areas to romp and burn off energy, and there is an excellent animal behaviorist who helps socialize the dogs and make them more adoptable. Having volunteered at another shelter in the past where appreciation was rarely expressed, the difference here is remarkable. This organization genuinely values both its animals and its volunteers. Please consider this amazing facility when looking to add a new family member, volunteer your time, or make a donation that truly makes a difference in the lives of these animals. Don't shop... Im already planning on going there to adopt, they have to be appreciative of people helping out. Here's the thing though , if you are doing community service they say you have to use a completely different kitchen AND PLACE TO EAT, you have to sit in the conference room, which would be fine if one manager Margaret (sweetest person ever and needs a raise a cause she was one of the few professional managers there Margarite is one of the main reasons why this is a 2.5 stars and not 0 stars) didn't already show me the employee and volunteer break room (I'm sure she didn't know how Danelle would react when I sat down as Danelle was laying down on the couch with the lights off and getting on to me for trying to sit down to take my break after working since 8am around 12pm. I understand if Danelle was maybe having a bad day if she wasn't also rude when I asked why the vending machine in there charged me $1.25 for a water and never gave it to me, she said the machine would refund me but still hasn't and then when I asked if they had any water and she told me (while we were still in the volunteer and worker break room cause that the only place the vending machine is) Danelle waited until I said thank you and opened the fridge in there and got one of the many waters to say , actually maybe you should get the waters from the community service fridge , with a rude tone . Overall it just felt like she treated everyone that came in for community service as less than /!: Danelle really made me want to cry the way she made me and the other girl doing it too feel less than just for trying to better ourselves, NOT TO MENTION I WAS PLANNING ON BROWSING AND ADOPTING BEFORE I EVEN GOT HERE. Danelle definitely ruined my experience as someone just trying to help out on one of their few days off, but Emma and Rilegh were really rude when I tried to see the cats after a LONG DAY of trying my best to be helpful with dishes, laundry, unloading packages , because when I tried to see the cats at all they said I couldn't pet them at all , not even a boop on the nose to let them know that they matter and see which cat I would be interested in cause I've been saving up for this exact moment . They kept looking me up and down and making me feel incredibly uncomfortable for having the audacity to be interested in seeing the cats and that just completely turned me off and was the last straw for me overall. the staff that were kind and I wish Danielle, Emma and Rilegh could learn from on how to treat people with kindness Especially on someone's first day, definetly includes Margarite, she was the kindest person there and super helpful , as well as this helpful girl with curly brown hair( poss Abby) and gold earrings and a guy with a blue beanie (poss Arman Atkins) along with most of the staff like the nice front desk ladies and definitely Kathleen was also kind .
