A quick shout out to an establishment I have not been to before. I've been to the Iron Hill in West Chester many times in the past, not so much recently. Anywho - their Exton location (recent addition to the area - may a year or so ago?) - ran a Veterans Day promotion this year - free sandwich of your choice, side and drink (not beer). I am finally at that stage in life where i can take advantage of the offer so i dropped in to partake. Wow - was i pleasantly surprised. Super friendly bartender was happy to oblige. I got the taphouse burger which is normally $13.95 I believe with fries. The trend around these parts for many of these places to serve "gourmet burgers" priced anywhere from $18-$30. This burger was so much better than many of the ones I've had in other places it was a real eyeopener. I appreciated the Veterans Day nod - but what i really like is there is a place nearby to get a great burger and beer for the price of a burger alone at most of these "higher end" places (White Dog take note). Stopped in last Saturday @3pm. Place was pretty empty. We ordered some beers and we were looking at the food menu. Our bartender seemed to forget about us. The place was incredibly cold, they had all of the garage doors open ( it wasn't even 60 degrees outside) we asked a server that came behind the bar if some if not all could be closed. She told us she needed to ask but never did ask or closed the doors. As we were just about finished the bartender came back to see if we wanted to put a food order in. We got our check and left. I visited Iron Hill Brewery Tap House in Exton this evening with my boyfriend. Upon arrival I noticed all the Oktoberfest decorations hung up. After being seated we asked our server Alex about any upcoming Octoberfest activities. She enlightened us on the stein holding contest this upcoming Saturday. As well as showed and described the special menu for Octoberfest. Alex gave us great service throughout our time there today and was able to describe the upcoming events and beer very well! This is our go-to neighborhood brewery and we love it. The bartenders and staff are always super friendly, the beer selection is great (lots of tasty options), and the vibe is just right. The food's solid too. We usually like grabbing a seat at the bar, but there are plenty of booths and tables if you're looking for a little more space or privacy. And if you want to try a beer before committing, they're totally cool with that--which we really appreciate, since not every place does that. read more

I was out for breakfast and found this place, I was like 'there's dinner tonight'! The beer was OUTSTANDING!! Breweries back home do the same thing for food, order at a window and they'll bring it to you, so that was ok with me. The wings were not cooked well. However, the beer was OUTSTANDING!!! George was great too! He was attentive without being overbearing and even gave me a sample of a different beer, which I was glad I didn't buy after I drank some of the Hipster beer he recommended first. In the area for business. I had stopped at 2 other places and got a cold reception so I decided to try Iron Hill Brewery. Third time was the charm and I was immediately welcomed!! At first I ordered my usual drink, Grey Goose martini, but then the bartender let me know I can sample anything. I love sour beers and he poured me all 3. Ringz Toss was the best! Unfortunately, we had a really poor experience at Iron Hill Brewery. We sat in the bar and received terrible service from the start... inattentive and disengaged. While the beer was solid, it was the only redeeming part of the visit. Our food took an unreasonably long time to come out, and when it finally did, 2 out of the 3 items were wrong. What we did get felt carelessly thrown together, like no one in the kitchen was paying attention. Fast food concept and quality, but restaurant cost. It clearly isn't working. We were there Friday night less than 25 people there. Walk in stood there for a couple minutes until we realized it was seat yourself. Sat a a booth and waited a few more minutes until we realized there was no wait service. I flagged the bartender down and asked what the deal was and he explained we had to order up at the bar. Now I need to find out what everyone wants to drink and eat get up and order. But wait!!! Many will flock to Iron Hill for the plethora of fantastic craft brews. I grabbed Light Lager, Mahalo, Bridge St. Bock and Munich Dunkel myself. All were wonderful, but I'm here to tell you tales of the delectability of the food here. Grab a seat. CRISPY PORK BELLY TACOS Nobody could have depicted that pork belly could taste so good. Obviously, pig is delicious and Korean BBQ is all the rage, but the fatty, more dainty underside of the world's best tasting animal could be better? Yes. The answer is yes. Iron Hill took the best animal's (pig) best cut (belly), threw it on the best handheld food vehicle (taco), with one of the best manners of cooking it (Korean BBQ), and somehow still exceeded expectations. MUSHROOM AND BRIE EGG ROLLS This one wasn't even fair for my stomach/taste buds/sense of pride by trying to not eat all of the egg rolls by myself. These egg rolls may have positively changed my life forever. They're were so good that Chinese people everywhere are probably livid, and thinking, "C'mon dude... First, the Western World snubs our eating utensils and invents forks, and now they are replacing our egg roll contents with mushrooms and Brie? How are they so wise when they don't mediate or even practice Buddhism? Not cool, man. Not cool". FACTOID: Egg rolls aren't technically Chinese, but American Chinese, having been invented in NYC. Been coming here since opening and it's always been pretty good food. Definitely on the more expensive end for the quality food you're actually eating. One nice thing is that they have an impossible burger, and for a family with a vegan, it was a good option. We thought that would always be the case...but we were wrong. Came here tonight and was beyond disappointed to hear that without notice sold off the rest of their impossible burgers to another company for no real reason. When we asked the manager, he blew it off and couldn't have cared less. Didn't have any real response and was generally rude for someone who is supposed to care about the customer experience. Visited this location (Exton) to use a gift card for takeout lunch since I knew the place is not very cozy & there is no service. Ordered a smashed burger salad and a charcuterie, thinking a safe choice since no real cooking required. Note: SHOULD NOT HAVE. Called and offered to bring the food back and requested a replacement gift card, thinking I could use it at the West Chester location that has better food. Let me start by saying that I've always been a big Iron Hill fan so I was excited about their opening right in the neighborhood. But this taphouse concept, with limited menu and limited service, is just an epic failure. It makes zero sense to go across the huge room to the order counter to find out that they're out of wings (not to mention that beer hall is out of wings at 8pm on Sat night!) or watching food runners circle around aimlessly looking for the right table number to drop off your order. Food finally arrives on small aluminum trays with a flimsy fork (guess they don't trust their guests with knives) - kind of like dinner at your local jailhouse cafeteria. Food itself was completely underwhelming. I had an Italian hoagie and my son had a fried chicken sandwich. Wawa and Chick-fill-A right down the street are much better for half the price. Cocktails were equally bad - my rum and Coke tasted like a totally flat and diluted Diet Coke... I know Iron Hill is about beer but..... they've become successful because they offered a unique combination of high quality food, full bar, and good fresh local beer. On the right side of the building is a counter where you can get water, silverware, etc... and will eventually pick up your food from. Then, once your pager goes off you can go and get your food. Like many others have said, I've been a big fan of the Iron Hill Brewey for years now, especially the one in downtown West Chester, so I made it out this way to try their taphouse. I immediately was drawn in by the ~vibes~ (lol) - it was a warm evening so the doors were open and it created a very open environment. I'm a beer girl and decided to try the "Girls Just Wanna Have Saison" because our waitress raved about it. It was good! $7 for 16 oz. and only 75 cents more for an extra 6 oz. ($7.75 for 22 oz.). We ordered the honey hickory wings (very sweet) and the honey sriracha wings (our waitress said these were pretty spicy but they were underwhelming when it came to spice level). We also got the onion strings which were fun to pick at, and a funky alternative to more traditional and greasy onion rings. We never got waters (not sure if we had to order them at the counter with the rest of our food...) until we asked for them about an hour into our meal. I liked the casual atmosphere and will be coming back -- but probably only when I'm out that way again, I don't think I'd go out of my way to come to this taphouse. read more

In a word, disappointing. I have been going to Iron Hill Media since it's inception. It too has declined in quality as the chain expanded but somehow I expected more from this tap house. 1. Caveat: The beer is good. 2. The food: Tasteless. We ordered a Margherita pizza, the fish tacos, and the mushroom Brie eggrolls. The pizza needed salt, more basil and some char on the anemic looking cheese. The tacos had a couple of bites of fish and thank goodness for the bar size wedge of lime to give it some flavor. The two egg rolls were $12 - yes, that is $6 dollars each- that had plenty of soggy mushrooms and something that resembled cheese but not Brie. They cut them in 1/2 (not even on a bias) so there are four bites on the aluminum pan that serves as the serving plate. At least the sauce has some flavor. 3. The service: I don't know that you can call it that. You go up to a counter like you are at a snack bar in a hockey rink, you order, and they give you a homing device and bring stuff to your table or maybe the next one because they doing work that well. Then a server comes out and says they can get you more stuff if you want. Why? 4. Atmosphere: Sat outside on a cool night. Two of the four heaters failed. All high top tables (plastic and metal) that are already wobbling. These would not be good for older patrons or any patron in wheelchairs. TVs everywhere. read more

A busy place on a Friday night after Thanksgiving, but we quickly got a booth and sat down to sample. The menu was available for download or on big signs next to us. Wow, what a variety. All of the ones we sampled - about 12 across our group - we would describe as mild in flavor. Some breweries overpower you with flavor, but this was a nice mild taste (please don't think I mean watered-down, far from it). This would be good for a relaxing beverage for winding down at night or paired with a meal where you don't want the flavors to compete with what's on your plate. After sampling ales, IPA, lagers, and stouts, everyone at the table agreed the Raisin' Saints was the best offering on the menu - even the non-beer drinkers. It would also be a great for people who like wine. It was a little sweet with a smooth finish that did indeed have a nice raisin after-taste. Pair it with an oatmeal brew and wow, breakfast in a glass. Another pleasant surprise were the bitter fruit varieties we sampled. Kelly, our server, was very knowledgable about the varieties and offer well-received suggestions after she saw was we were already enjoying. Since there are too many on the menu to sample at once, we will definitely be making a trip back here - if for nothing else than a nice relaxing glass of the Raisin' Saints. Everything I have had here has been great. The hot pastrami sandwich, the burger, and fries were all delicious. They have amazing beers on tap and also they brew their own root beer which is also amazing! I can wait for the warmer months when they open up the garage door. Admittedly I didn't realize this was more of a smaller venue when we first came here. The food is good, in line with its larger siblings, but there are much less choices overall. If you are fully vaxxed and/or no longer care about any concerns for catching COVID - this is YOUR place. And, unlike the header for this listing, as of today (June 5th) the staff does NOT wear masks - consistently. And those that have masks aren't wearing them as if their noses are connected to their lungs. Chin straps, gators, or like the bartender - nothing at all. Ditto the patrons. Over mouths, but not noses. It was a hot mess. They have outdoor dining which we were hoping to take advantage of - but no umbrellas. It was pushing 90 degrees and high noon, that was a non-starter for being outside (one of us has skin cancer). We happen to both be fully vaxxed and the place was dead as it had just opened for the day so we took our chances inside. A waiter approached us, pulled his mask forward from his face and said, "Sit wherever you'd like." So we sat in the corner as far from the bar as possible. Bartender - no mask. Waiter proceeded to explain to us that you order at a counter kiosk (gross considering no one is consistent in masks, vax, or hand sanitizing) and then someone brings it out to the table for you. First of all, if I'm going to pay over $11 for a chicken sandwich that doesn't come with so much as a side of fries - not kidding - you can bet your butt I expect full table service. After he finished explaining everything (while keeping his mask pulled away from his face - so droplets all over his hands and the air around his head) he proceeds to bring us water. No sanitizing or hand washing in-between. Just so gross even without a pandemic. You want people back in your restaurants? Make an effort. So we use the scan code taped to the table top to see for a menu on our phones and he does actually (because it isn't busy) take our order and bring us our food. But again, every single time he approached us, he'd pull his mask away from his face. What's the point of wearing one if you're going to touch the part where your pie hole is and then let whatever you may or may not have go everywhere? As the place started to fill up, the guy just kept saying "sit wherever you want." And you know how it is, most people gravitate toward other people. So rather than taking the time to intelligently spread new comers out, everyone ended up clumped together. Parents had young kids (too young to be vaxxed, but old enough to be carriers) running around with no masks. Parents, with no masks, running around after them. And I get it - we're not "required" to wear masks inside, but that relies on us relying on YOU (the restaurant staff) to ensure your workers are doing their best to protect us. And they weren't. Hence my comment at the start. The food was "ok". But the menu was bizarrely limited. TWO hamburger options (each with double patties). And a couple chicken sandwich options, then things like Pizza etc. So all that for limited choices. They lost me at the kiosk ordering. Ever hear of that self order chain Bryn + Dane's? Exactly. The only one in the area was off 29 on N. Morehall Rd and closed within like a year before COVID. NO ONE wants to pay table service prices and then do the job themselves.
