Best Sly Fox location? Yeah, probably. Also the most crowded--because apparently every nearby corporate office empties in here at exactly 5pm like it's a team-building exercise. If you time it right, it's fine. If you don't, enjoy wandering around awkwardly with a beer while hunting for a seat that does not exist. I've definitely bailed a couple times after realizing I'd have better luck finding parking in Center City. Beer is... fine. Nothing life-changing, but there's enough variety to keep you from complaining too much. Usually a couple decent IPAs--I've been into Coastal Quest lately, so there's that. Food? Also fine. Specials? Also... fine. But credit where credit's due: the Italian Grinder Pizza actually fantastic! RIP Happy Hour beer deals, which is a choice I will continue to side-eye. Bombers still exist, though, so I guess we take the small wins. Real talk: this should be a 3-star place. BUT--the staff absolutely carries it to a 4. They're fast, friendly, somehow remember your name and drink, and will magically find you a seat when the place looks like a human traffic jam. Also always down to chat when it's slow, which makes you feel like a regular even if you're not. Fun spot, looks really modern and clean inside, with some decent beers on tap. I was here with a friend one evening, and it was a good spot to hang out for a little bit. They close on the early side, but still a good spot, and I saw some families there too. Note, I don't know if it's all the time, but when we were there, ordering was at the bar, not at the table (except maybe food, but we didn't eat that evening). A bit loud, but that's to be expected. Good beer, great atmosphere, friendly staff, meh food. Came in on a beautiful weekend night when they had the big doors open and people were sitting inside and outside. Ordering is easy enough up at the bar and you can get both food and drinks from the bartender. Food came out relatively slowly for the fairly muted crowd of people, but came out as it was ready so nothing was cold. We got nachos, smash burgers, and a brat. The nachos were pretty bad. They use nacho cheese on them and a lot of it so you wind up with just a goopy pile that's incredibly messy. The "smash burgers" were just regular burger patties that were cupped pretty badly so I'm guessing they were just frozen and thrown on the cook top. Beers were all solid, as you would expect from Sly Fox. I would probably go back again for drinks, but skip the food. read more

This place is so cool! All the comforting things you look for in a bar located in a modern spot. The food selection is great and so glad they have more than just beer as far as alcoholic beverages. Running amok and screaming. Everywhere. Their parents are lined up drinking beer. On the sidelines. Oblivious or rude. The kids I'm looking at now have the Barbie VW Beetle and are pushing it all around. And some other toy truck with dinosaur bones? The poor singer and guitarist just shooshed them away. They're running into his space. Interfering with his performance. The poor guy. It's like a dog park but for kids. There are signs saying this is not a playground but apparently the parents don't give a sh*t. They have their beer. On the sidelines. Rude or oblivious. Maybe it's better inside but we just left. I was in town visiting some family and had some some to check this place out with a friend. It is a great Taphouse that has a lot of great drinks. The service was very quick and while I wasn't supper hunger I'm glad I got a snack to munch on while we enjoyed our flights. We were able to snag a tab outside and enjoy the wonderful weather. We were at Sly Fox in Malvern tonight. What a big mistake. Lately, every time we go, there are families with unruly children running around and screaming. Tonight there were kids running in and out of the restaurant. (Mind you, the temperature was in the teens.) I couldn't get in the door until two boys - ages around 10/11 - figured out the push/pull with the door. Then they, and two girls they were with, ran around and around inside the restaurant. Screaming, bumping into chairs, sliding on the floor, having no clue that other patrons were getting annoyed. Their parents were drinking and chatting, and didn't seem to care what they were doing. Another table had little ones. The 2.5 year old was running around and around, and SCREAMING at the top of her lungs. Dad was kind of engaged 50% of the time; mom and grandparents just looked on smiling as if the kids were adorable and doing nothing wrong. Her brother - about 5 years old - was egging her on to chase him. Around and around they went, weaving around high tops, all the while the little girl was SCREAMING...and eating a cookie. Choking hazard anyone? At one point, the boy went around to tables with his craft - a cardboard snake - tapping people with it and hissing at them. It would have been cute if everything else wasn't going on. Another table of parents and kids came in. Five girls - about 10/11 years old - kept running back and forth into the bathroom. Why?? They couldn't seem to put their butts in their chairs and keep them there. They were loud - along with the boys that were there - and again, the parents ignored them and their behavior. Is this Chuck e Cheese?!?! It's out of hand. We used to enjoy Sly Fox. The food is ok and the atmosphere was nice. Now, it's a mad house. You can't hear yourself think. We don't blame the kids. We blame the parents. I strongly suggest the owners re-evaluate their restaurant policies. Perhaps post a notice on the doors and around the restaurant reminding patrons that this is a restaurant and not a playground. Children need to stay seated at tables. Adults need to monitor their children at all times. If kids can't keep their voices down then parents should remove them from the room until they calm down. If they can't abide by the rules, they will be asked to leave. It's sad that I'm suggesting you spell it out for adults. It shouldn't have to be this way. If something isn't done/posted then eventually a child may fall and get hurt, or they may accidentally get under foot of another adult patron and trip them, causing a fall. As it is, your staff, who are always so nice, has to deal with dodging kids while delivering food and clearing tables. What if one of them gets hurt? They seemed to be at their limit tonight dealing with multiple unsupervised situations. But the one thing that worried us tonight the most was the 2.5 year old girl who was running around unsupervised at times. Her father was over by the main entrance talking to a couple of people and she was standing by the mens room door. Mom and grandparents were doing their own thing. One person seated in our party kept looking over at her making sure someone didn't just walk by and snatch her. They could have just scooped her up and walked out the side door. Or taken her into the mens room. It's was a real concern and it shouldn't be taken lightly. I like that Sly Fox is family friendly, but it needs to set some boundaries so ALL patrons may enjoy their dining experience. We've enjoyed Sly Fox over the years. I used to hang out at the original Sly Fox in college, eschewing the sports bars and 25-cent drafts for a more contemplative pour with a few friends. This location is a bigger, more corporate version of the Sly Fox. My stout was excellent and reminded me of the original version. The food was OK; we shared nachos and the hummus platter. The nachos with pork feature a very sweet (dare I say cloying?) BBQ pulled pork, while the hummus happily includes some feta, olive spread, raw veggies, and a lot of pita bread (I'd have taken a version that subbed out the bread for more veg). Service is DIY; you belly up to the bar to get your drinks and eats. It was a great visit to a successful iteration of an early pioneer in the craft beer movement. read more

Seems to be a favorite amongst the locals and I totally get why. Comes down to these couple of three things: 1. Multiple TVs (Mostly showing Philly sports), gotta support the teams right? 2. Drinks, mostly beer; Octoberfest and Helles Lager are some good ones and they have ciders too. 3. Solid Food: I did the bratwurst with fries and slaw, very tasty; loved the sweet spicy mustard sauce that comes with. Combine those three and you get a solid crowd that show up every night here to live life and enjoy. Sometimes they'll have live music as well playing tons of classic rock and stadium rock. All which make the place cool. Also noticed you get a mix of people here. Saw one table full of business people doing HH after work, a table of women doing a girls night out, a table of Phillies fans being phillies fans, a family doing a group dinner. If you can fit that diversity in one roof, the business model is doing something right. Not a fan of the plastic utensils as they aren't the strongest. Also it's cafeteria style meaning you order first, then they bring stuff to you. Unless you sit at the bar which is what I usually prefer. Being sly like a fox! read more

Another update, another added star! By now things have settled into the Sly Fox and what makes this place is their sauces and service. The people working there genuinely seem to enjoy the space. Their sauces make things elevated from standard bar type food, veggies are fresh, and portions are solid. They do take out and eat in with no problems and can handle parties without any problems. Their drink options are of course solid for beers but they do rotate out their cocktail options to be fun with also. I personally find the space just too loud to enjoy regularly, but if you want to grab a cheeseburger pizza or have a nice burger and beer with friends, this is a convenient and delicious option. read more

At first glance and walk in, this place had a cool vibe with the outdoor area and live music. The indoor had a general area and a private room that could be reserved. I understand the order at the bar concept for the place except the reserved room. There definitely should be wait staff in there taking order and bringing drinks. Food - if you like cold, processed chicken, this is the place to go. Some of our orders were incorrect when they came out including my salad that should've had chicken. To make life easier, I said the chicken on the side is fine. When it came out it looked beyond processed and was cold. The salad at chick-fil-a is much better. Also, how is it a southwest salad without beans and corn. M Drinks - obviously great selection of beer since it is a tap house after all. I ordered a Tito's water which I wasn't sure if there was much, if any Tito's in it. Perhaps stick to their bread and butter and just order beer. Overall, do not recommend the food. The space is open and modern with tons of tvs. It definitely feels more like a sports bar than a craft brewery. They have a ton of beer on tap and a full non-beer menu. They offer typical bar food, plus a wood pizza oven that you can see from the dining room. There aren't servers who walk around, you order all items at the bar and are given a number to take back to your table. It seems like a very family-friendly place. Most tables had kids. I'd like to come back in the warmer weather to make use of the beautiful patio setup. read more

You order at the counter and they pour your beer there and they bring out your meal to you . pretty good variety of beers on tap and the pizza we had was excellent from that wood fired oven. This opened the during a week we were traveling for work. It's across the street from our office and everyone was really excited for it. So excited that we went here twice. I'll start by saying what should be obvious: it's still very new so give them a chance to figure things out. I don't drink beer, but my husband seemed to think it was ok. He wasn't raving about it, but he seemed to enjoy it. One big miss on the beer front: they don't let you sample. I've never been to a brewery that doesn't let you sample and that's a bit of a turnoff. The food: you order at the bar which is a little awkward. It would be nice if they had a separate place to order food so you didn't have to fight with people getting drinks to order. Over the course of our two visits we tried: the pub fries, honey sriracha pierogis, spiked nachos, mac and cheese, a cheese quesadilla, pretzel bites, and loaded fries. For the most part, it was mediocre bar food. Some of it was not good at all (pretzel bites), but some of it was ok. My favorites were probably the pub fries and spiked nachos. There were mishaps with the food too. We ordered a steak quesadilla, but were given a cheese quesadilla (literally a tortilla with shredded cheese). There was also a lot of confusion/mix-ups with checks and trying to pay. The space is really nice, but it's designed to be loud. It was crowded the second time we were there and you could barely hear the person next to you. I'm excited for better weather because they have a great looking outdoor space. Overall, I think they have potential, but they definitely have some kinks to work out. I'm sure we'll be back for happy hours in the future due to the convenient location. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to visit Sly Fox at The Grove after they opened but COVID sent a curveball into our plans. I'm glad we finally checked it out last week. The outside dining area is really nice and slightly reminds me of the Ole Smoky Distillery in Nashville. The outside space is shared by Sly Fox and Bombas nd you can sit wherever to enjoy both of their food no beverages. With Sly Fox, you go in to the bar to order and they give you a table number. A server will come out to your table to bring the food and you wait at the bar while the bartender pours your brew. The service is extremely casual and laid back which is what we were looking for on this particular day. When the food was ready, all the food was ready so it all comes out at once, apps and entrees. Our table ordered a lot... the Cheese Curds, Cheesesteak Eggrolls, Loaded Cheese Fries, Sly Fox Burger, French Onion Soup, Mac and Cheese, Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Hot Roast Beef. To wash it all down, we ordered a few One of Those Days. The food was good, to the point, and filling. I will definitely be back in the summer for some sunny day brews and hopefully live music. read more

Awesome little spot near our friends house. We stopped in for a casual lunch and some beers. They had a nice selection of Sly Fox beers to choose from and a menu that had many tasty offerings. The kids meals were a hit with the 3 kiddos in tow. I got the nachos which were plentiful and very tasty! Ordering, both food and beer is cafeteria style where you put your order in at the counter and either grab your drink or head to your table with a number where it is delivered when it's ready. The place was kinda empty for a rainy Sunday but the staff was super nice and everything came out quickly. The atmosphere was welcoming and the bathrooms were clean. They also had growlers and crowlers to go as well as take away beer that was in a cooler. I was there in the late fall on a rainy day but they also have a small outside eating area off to the left that I'm sure would be an awesome place to hangout. read more

The best part about the Sly Fox Taphouse at the Grove? The vibe! You'll get the same Sly Fox beers you know and love and a selection of average bar food, but the vibe is amazing. There building itself opens to the outdoor space - there's a tent, adirondaks, picnic tables...something for everyone. The Edison lights add a special touch. It's a great place to enjoy a beer and some great conversation. Oh! And the service! It was phenomenal! The staff was so on top of everything, we kept talking about it, you could definitely color us impressed. We shared a sampler and then had a beer each. We also got some food - cheese curds, a burger, and some boneless wings. Each food item was good. The burger was a little small for the bun, but what it was lacking in size it made up in taste. It's not Michelin-star quality, but it all pairs with the beers nicely. All in all, we'll definitely be heading back to hang out, especially when the weather is nice. read more

Both our orders were wrong. Right foods, but one wasn't made as listed on the menu and the other we had asked to had cheese; no cheese. But we had the pleasure of being charged for the cheese. ZERO check-in from the 'servers' we had to already tip. And the food - no better than the pre-packaged food you can get at Wegmans. And off-brand ketchup that was not very good. Shame. Having moved back to the area after 20 years away, we were excited to see the Sly Fox location right in Great Valley, as we had been planning on getting back to the Phoenixville location in the coming weeks. So, we decided it would be a good idea to check it out the next day for the Thursday night Eagles game. There were three bartenders on, and they weren't really that busy, but it still took us close to ten minutes to order our beers, as two of the bartenders were chatting and rearranging/cleaning some things that could have waited until after they served us, while the other bartender was handling walk-up orders at the end of the bar. Finally getting our beers, we asked for food menus, but were told that the kitchen closed at 8:00. In all fairness, it is now 8:15, as we did walk in at 8:05, so the delayed beer order did not affect our missing the kitchen closing time. Having been surprised at hearing about the oddly early kitchen time, the bartender offered that they are short-staffed as the reasoning. That logic made no sense to us, as the bar usually closes at 9:00, per their website, but was staying open later for the game. So, if the bar is staying open later for the game, then why wouldn't they take advantage of the extra revenue by extending the kitchen hours as well, especially since the staff was already there, as we saw many tables and other patrons at the bar with food. It's not like there would have been a shift change at 8:00 PM that they couldn't fill. That established, we politely asked a few minutes later if we could have Uber eats delivered for us to eat at the bar, since we would be drinking there for the next 3 1/2 hours, with the kitchen closed so early. We hadn't eaten dinner yet, since we were planning on eating there, so this wasn't just a snack situation. One bartender said we could eat outside (where we wouldn't be able to see the game), while the other offered that they don't do that, but that they could ask the manager. Unfortunately, the manager did not come out personally to speak with us as they should have about the reasonable request to accomodate, and instead sent the bartender back out to tell us "Yeah, sorry guys." We finished our round and went to PJ Whelihan's down the road at the end of the 1st quarter, where we got our drinks right away and were able to order food. Also, it was odd that the audio feed for the game at Sly Fox was in Spanish, instead of English, or in addition to English. Edit: I just saw another review, posted a few weeks before mine, where someone else noted the audio in Spanish. How can you not address such a little detail as this, when you have people coming in to watch the game while patronizing your establishment, the large majority of which are English-speaking? Odd. I found the Sly Fox to be noisy, disorganized and with very average food. Also their ordering system for food does not make any sense.
