First time here enjoying the local firebird festival and decided to brace the cold night stopping here first. Had a flight to start the evening while live music entertained my eardrums. Then a small kale cole slaw before the winner of the night a nice warm southern corn chowder with cripsy croutons and even more crispy fried chicken. Service was quick and prompt giving some suggestions on what to drink and eat. I wondered why the soup took longer but you can see from my photo the chowder deserves that love and attention. Having just moved to Exton, and a believer in supporting local businesses I had to stop at Stolen Sun - and I am so glad I did. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Bridget, who I don't think has ever made a stranger, and immediately felt welcome. She took the time to offer insight into the variety of Stolen Sun beers, I opted for the New Exton - which I would highly recommend! So many times I am met with disappointed by the lack of vegetarian food options, not here - instead, there is an extensive menu offering plant based substitutions. I had the plant based chicken rice bowl with a hot seasoning and it did not disappoint - it was delicious. The owner even came over, introduced himself, and asked how I liked everything, especially the plant substitute. I am impressed that an owner who has obviously built his menu over time, not only offered vegetarian options, but took the time to welcome a new guest and make sure it had been a positive experience. It is clear that Stolen Sun has regulars that meet there often, and with the choice of beers, menu options and engaging staff it is obvious why - I will for sure be making many return visits and bringing my family with me. read more

Stolen Sun changes their menu based on past reviews and how much something is selling it seems. The name and decor had them attempting some different creations and a few authentic creations or so. The corn cakes appetizers are no longer offered and their sweet tang beer and probably other beers are switched out to vary flavors. Their turkey meatball sub was too off couture for most people's tastes and that was removed and probably a good decision on the restaurant's part. They added a salad option. Sweet potato tacos and wings seem to be their current hits although at this event, they sold out of burgers and chicken fingers. How much they sold out because of what they are rather than what they are most well known for and because they aren't messy like wings feels like why it sold so much moresp, but the variety here is reasonably good. I like that I have noticed that they are flexible in changing their menu. They don't sell boozy milkshakes here and probably could make money from those. When I attended the gaming event on this special Sunday, the place was almost completely packed. Parking was not enough- I think some people had to park at the Target lot and walk across over. In a nutshell the food here was just ok, the beer was ok and the service terrible. We liked the wings which were smoky and tender. Extra "plates" (cardboard containers were brought since this was a shared item for the table. The cheesesteak-like brisket sandwich had tender brisket, too much barbecue and the cheese sauce had no taste of cheese-just bechamel. The burger was ok but definitely not a smash burger - no crispies to be found. The unseasoned burger came with a plastic vial of spices on the side. We got the coffee stout which was ok but had barely a coffee flavor. I've tasted this kind of stout elsewhere and prefer a more coffee forward blend than this. So the service did not generate confidence that we were welcome there. There was plenty of noise and one of our party repeated three times to the server who was standing at the other end of the table that he could not hear him. The server made no effort to speak louder or move closer. His answers to questions about the menu resulted in strange results . Waiter: Do you want sides with that burger? Me: The menu say it comes with chips and coleslaw. I'll have that Diner #2: I'll also have the burger with the chips and coleslaw. When we go our order, I got cole slaw only and Diner #2 got chips only. So our group of less than four told our waiter our food order and the one beer and he proceeded to ask us for a credit card to "start a tab". ????!!! I have sat at many tables at many restaurants and breweries here and abroad and have never been asked to provide a credit card before I seen anything brought to my table. This request was not made of two other parties who were seated in the same area and were greater in number. We got very little attention after that although our waiter had plenty of time to sweep the floor with the broom and collector (and not wash his hands after). So I'm not returning. Others may like the system, food, beer etc here-looked like there were plenty of regulars at the bar watching the game and plenty of families with children who were oblivious that others are present (standing on furniture near other diners, filling cartways with their gear and not moving it for others to pass). read more

We came here for my birthday dinner, and it was awesome and laid back. The space itself is huge. There were plenty of tables available, both inside and out. The inside area was recently expanded, so there's a ton of space inside. We sat in the outside area in the back of the building. It was surrounded by trees and a stream. So even though we were sitting right off of a major road, you wouldn't know it because the building and trees insulated the sound. We got the Honey Bee, which was a wheat beer. It wasn't as heavy as your typical wheat beer (noting that wheat beers aren't that heavy to begin with). But I really liked it. It was almost like a mix between a lager and a wheat beer. My wife got the cider, which was crisp and not too sweet. We liked these beers so much we stuck with them the whole night. The unexpected superstar of the night was the food. The honey sriracha wings were outstanding. Usually you get wings slathered in a ton of sauce, and that's too much. These had the perfect amount of sauce and the flavor really came through. I'd say these were more spicy that sweet, which I liked. And the spice was more intense than I expected, but in a good way. My wife got the chicken cheesesteak. It was full of flavor and the mustard really made it stand out from other cheesesteaks. The atmosphere, combined with the beer, combined with the food made this place a standout. Forget mimosas - breakfast beer is where it's at. The older I get, the more I appreciate drinking during the day. I just can't hang after 8pm anymore. I had never heard of Stolen Sun, but I'm a huge fan of anyone with a good coffee stout and breakfast food. They also had a great selection of both pour-over and drip coffee. I opted for a Costa Rican light, honey blend, and it was delicious. For beers, I'd suggest trying the Jumpy Jon's Java Stout and the Unicorn Tarts, at minimum, The menu for breakfast is pretty standard, but covers all the bases. Basically - do you want savory or sweet, and how do you want it delivered? Burrito, sandwich, taco, burger, or pancakes? I, personally, like when places have a concise menu. Makes ordering less of a pain. The service was good, and their logo is dope. I love their merch - lots of tie dye! There's plenty of seating, lots of parking, and there is an outdoor area I'd be super keen to revisit in the nice weather. They host a plethora of events including live music, quizzo, and yoga. A telling sign of the anger and self righteous behavior he uses towards customers with their opinions. Stolen Sun is a convenient brewery by us that we can go with our daughter and hang out inside or out and have some good food and drinks in a casual setting. They have a large inside area where you can choose to sit upstairs or downstairs or at the bar. If it's nice outside, you can sit out there. They have live bands play occassionally which my daughter absolutely loves to dance to and clap along with. They have games for the kids to play with so the adults can sit back and relax while the kids are entertained. They usually have one or tasty IPAs on tap. I generally don't drink other styles of beer so I can't comment on those. This place is a must if you're looking to just have some good beer and good food in a casual, laid-back atmosphere. read more

Then when I explained my experience and situation to them the next day, they tried to explain to me how my allergy works and the fact that I didn't notify them at the time of service that my issues weren't warranted. Two visits in the books and I am very happy to see this new place close to home. Stopped in just two weeks after they opened, on a Saturday @ 1pm and the place was fairly quiet. We sat at the bar, had a flight of 4 beers and ordered some food. Their Exton IPA was my favorite for the hoppy stuff, and I very much enjoyed their Oatmeal Stout. Cannot wait for them to offer up a coffee beer. Plantain chips were decent. Very thin and not served warm, but the chimmichuri aioli dip was an excellent complement. They had a buffalo cauliflower on brioche with Moody Blue cheese sauce was very good. Food came out very quick, but not surprising since the place was very empty. Left with some dark roast coffee beans too ($11-12 for shy of a lb. not terrible) and they have been keeping me awake for the past week. Super flavorful and not bitter at all. Fast forward to this past Friday night and I wanted to take my wife and daughter out to dinner, so we found ourselves here again. The place was quite busy this time around, but the service was still solid. Since they have some outside tables too, we found a picnic table inside right away. Just a heads up, you order both beer and food at the bar, which seems to be a thing these days. Fine by me, I can't stand trying to wave down a server when places are super busy. I wanted my wife to get the buffalo cauliflower sandwich too, but it was not listed on their menu, despite it being on their menu on Facebook. I tried to message them to confirm, but my message went unanswered. She opted for a burger and it was very good. I went with the Exton Cheesesteak this time around. I asked for the fried onions and mushrooms, but it arrived without either. The cook quickly saw the mistake and came over with a small bowl of mushrooms (no onions), but that was OK by me. I piled them on the sandwich and enjoyed it very much. I did not see any option to sub out their shoestring fries for a side salad. That would be clutch. Also, I feel the pricing is too high for what you get. $12 for many items will have me ordering less meals here, which is unfortunate. Self-serve soda and water station in an awkward spot, as it is right in front of the service window, so that should be relocated to keep the flow from getting messy. I saw kids going up to fill their cups and I was waiting for an accident, but fortunately, none occurred. All in all, a fine addition to the area. Their beers are very solid right out of the gate. I can't say that for many of the places that are popping up left and right around these parts. That will keep me visiting every couple weeks. read more

What a hidden gem right off route 100. My fiancé and I swung by for casual Sunday afternoon beers after a hike. The food, beer, and ambiance was on point. Our table faced the creek, while we enjoyed a sunny day with the perfect balance of shade. Sitting in the back patio feels like you're on vacation. The beer was exceptional! The food was delicious. Was there on a Friday night (12/2) around 7 PM and it was fairly busy but had plenty of parking and empty seats - lots of families there and was a pleasant and quiet crowd. Got beer and liked it. Sat at the bar and was irritated with bartender loudly banging on the bar like a drum. Also spent an annoyingly long time waiting for another beer while the staff chatted with each other and a young customer 5 feet away. Once service was provided the guys were pleasant enough and earned a fair tip but I wouldn't like the staff acting like these guys in an establishment I owned.
