It was my first time at Iron Rooster! My friend and I both ordered the chicken and waffles - we both substituted the corneal waffles for Belgian waffles which was super light and fluffy. The chicken was moist and tender. The hash and gravy were also very good. I'm not a gravy person, but I did find myself going back for more. I left feeling quite full. Came the second time, very slow service. After such a long wait, we get the check (didn't even offer if we wanted dessert) but we still wanted to order dessert so we ordered dessert and had to wait a long time again. Not sure if we will go back to this location again. Very disappointing. We really like this place since we frequent the canton location which we will definitely comeback to. This was our first time here in this location this past weekend. We've been to the one in canton crossing location and enjoyed it so we thought we would share the experience with friends. We enjoyed the food just like the one is canton crossing but the service is not as great. Food came out far apart from each other. Waited maybe at least 10-15 each time per persons meal and after we got all our meals, They never brought out the extra bacon on the side that we ordered. My wife and I went to the Iron Rooster in Hunt Valley for breakfast on a shard day off. The service was extremely slow- the server barely checked in on us and when she did it was perfunctory. Walking past a table with a carafe of coffee and not asking us if we wanted more seems a little....off. We were left waiting at times 20 minutes between check-ins, and the food took around 30 minutes to arrive at our table. On previous visits to the Iron Rooster Hunt Valley, we also had lengthy waits (or at least uncommonly long) between food and drink orders and server visits. I had the shrimp and grits. I've had worse, I've had better- so nothing really to write home about and no complaints at all for that order. However, my wife ordered the crab hash and when it was put on the table she noticed that the two eggs (which are supposed to be poached) were instead absolutely hard boiled. We politely pointed this out to the server, and she offered to replace the hard boiled eggs with poached eggs. After a delay of 5 minutes or so, she came back to tell us that the egg poacher was "broken" and that she could offer another type of egg. I don't know what an egg poacher machine is, but I know eggs can be poached fairly easily if you have any basic knowledge of cooking. The waitress then came back to tell us that since we were waiting awhile, and since the eggs were not to my wife's satisfaction, we could get a free pop tart for our trouble. This was a bit odd to us when we had already mostly finished our breakfast. All in all, we're going to take a break from Iron Rooster for awhile and come back at some point to see if service/food improves. Lots of potential with this place, and the restaurant is clean and they keep it up nicely. read more

Surprised at the 3 star overall review - our breakfast was wonderful. We ordered the 'angry pig omelet' with the chipotle hollandaise on the side and fresh fruit to replace the potatoes (watching our carbs). Using the hollandaise like you would salad dressing on the side (dripping the fork before picking up the food, to add the taste without all the calories or carbs), we had all the flavor intended by the chef. The omelet was delish!! But really big!! We'd split the omelet if we had occasion to come back!! ( I posted a pic of how much of my food was left - plenty to share.) Service was good, had to wait a bit for a coffee refill, but still overall good. Only four star because it's a bit pricey - just under $14 for an omelet is a bit pricey to me (but I'm from TX - maybe that's normal for this area). Would I comeback - you bet!!! So, I'm dropping this down to 2 stars as each experience since they opened has gone down hill. My husband actually commented on how it was odd that we didn't have to wait for a table during prime brunch time on a weekend and this last experience explains why. To start, my husband's drink came out with a lovely little winged insect stuck to the inside of the glass and specs of mushy green something floating on top. Next, our brown sugar pop tart was drowning in the overly sweet sauce. We order this every time and I don't ever remember there being more than a drizzle on top, so the kitchen was a bit sloppy(?)/heavy-handed(?) this time around. We ended up ordering the Fried Chicken Benny and the Crab Hash. The entire Benny dish - biscuits, fried chicken, and potatoes- was lukewarm, at best. Actually, the poached eggs were somehow cold to the touch. We ended up telling the waitress about this, who apologized and said she would bring out two freshly made eggs shortly...along with the chipotle hollandaise sauce for the crab hash that was requested on the side but never received. I definitely saw a couple dishes come out of the kitchen after ours that were smoking from being freshly made, so I have no problem calling them out for poor and inconsistent execution. I saw three stars for this place and got worried, but it was a long drive and time for some breakfast. I got the chicken and waffles and a coffee. The coffee is above average and the chicken and waffles are wonderful. Large pieces of boneless fried chicken, a thick cream gravy on top of waffles. Some delicious hashbrowns served with it. Yum! Just what I needed. The place is clean and bright. It's fairly empty this morning and has a nice vibe. Service was good, nothing particularly notable. It was okay; I'm not sure the egg was needed and the shrimp were under seasoned. My friends ordered the Angry Pig Omelette and Chicken & Waffles. We also ordered a mixed berry pop tart-- it was the best part of the dining experience. What I like most about Iron Rooster is that they have options. In Baltimore area for a few days and missed this place Day 1 because of the 3 stars. Today, my hotel personally recommended it, so I overrode my "no 3 Star" rule. Glad I did. Great space and service with a smile from the jump. Need up with the Crab Cake Benedict, having never had this dish, and really loved it. My fruit side dish was fresh and a great variety. This time of year one tends to see a lot of melon, but thstrawberries, pineapple and blueberries were a nice surprise. An A-OK place for breakfast, lunch, and in-between. Iron Rooster boasts a pretty broad menu for your morning and noon dining experiences covering eggs and pancakes, to sandwiches and burgers. They have a bright and cool style that feels right at home with their menu of simple brunch classics. I ordered myself their breakfast burrito. While the meat inside, which there was quite a bit of, was very tasty, I got very little in the sense of other flavors. The eggs were unsalted, the tortilla was untoasted, the veggies had no spice, and I needed to drown the entire thing in hot sauce to give it some kick. The whole thing was filling, but not worth the $15 price. One nice bonus is that Iron Rooster offers two different happy hours, one in the morning and one in the evening, so if you like drinking early in the day, then Iron Rooster will offer you a deal. Sadly, during non-happy hours, the price of their drinks are pretty high. My service was cheerful and fast, though not as attentive as I'd have liked. When I was seated, I was given a sticky menu, which was gross and unprofessional. In the end, Iron Rooster's food was ok, but the price and overall experience didn't really make up for it. I'd give them another try, ordering something else off the menu, but I would really need to be amazed in order to change my review. You'll leave with a full belly and an empty wallet, when you might have been able to get brunch somewhere better for less. read more

Well we decided to go back last night after a long break hoping it improved. The completely empty restaurant at dinner time should have been an indicator that it hadn't. Our server was nice and friendly. But all the food we ordered was meh. I ordered their special of a steak burrito and it tasted terrible. Had a flavor I couldn't identity. We keep going back, hoping service will improve because the food is worth it, but after 4 visits, all sitting in different locations (bar, bar table, main restaurant table, and enclosed patio type area), we have just had such poor service. Waiters/ bartenders who disappear for looooong stretches of time (we've never been there at a peak hour so it's not because they're in the weeds), and simple food requests being completely ignored (this may be more of the kitchen's fault, but still, the expediter/wait staff should be checking). Then taking a ridiculous amount of time to fetch forgotten items like toast, which by the time it came, the eggs it was to go with would've been stone cold. I have worked in F&B, and if there's one thing I know for sure it's that continued service issues are a reflection of poor management. I've been a fan of Iron Rooster for a few years now because of their homemade pop tarts. This was my first time back since the pandemic as well as at the Cockeysville location in general as I usually go to the two in Baltimore. I was firstly disappointed that their menu had significantly decreased but understood because of the pandemic. It used to be a whole booklet with so many options including one of my favorite (rooster & biscuit) that were now taken away. All that was left was a page front and back, with the back for lunch. Then, by the time I ordered, my platter had multiple pieces of hair entangled within my potatoes and eggs... I was so disgusted I lost my appetite after sending it back. It also had pieces of sausages in it which I distinctly told our server about how I can't eat pork!!! Clearly their sanitary standards are subpar, especially during a pandemic, you would think they'd be more careful about hygiene. However, the server and hostess were both apologetic. At least their quality of pop tarts (their signature item) hasn't changed? Hence the 2 stars along with the kind customer service.
