On The Level Concrete is anything but. Boo on this business. Triple Boo. If I could take this 1…read morestar away, I would. The owner Eric is a smooth talking gentlemanly type who's favorite phrase is "I'll take care of everything, we're not finished yet, don't worry about it". He sent 2 workers to my house for 6 hours on a Sunday. The following morning he came to my house with another worker and after an hour and a half he asked me for full payment saying he was leaving but his worker would stay and complete the job. I couldn't pay him, thank god, cause my neighbor wasn't home and he was paying for this repair he'd caused the damage. Thank God he wasn't home. Erik left, his worker had coffee and a few cigarettes while talking on the phone then just walked out the door without a word, leaving an unfinished job and a humongous mess. I had to hire a professional cleaner to shop vac up all the cement powder from my patio, clean the window sills, windows, throw away the broken flower pots, clean up their personal drink containers and cig butts. The cleaners wouldn't remove the huge mound of wet cement Eric left in my organic flower/vegie bed. The job is 3/4 done which means it's too small for anyone else to be interested in coming out to finish it, correct the bad parts of it. AND the cement is already starting to crack even though it's only 3 weeks old. I didn't pay Erik so now he's putting lien on my house for the $2,600 dollars he charged me for the bad unfinished job he did. I'm filing a complaint against him with the Contractors State Licensing board against him. When I asked him for a warranty, his response was, "It's customary to provide the warranty after the job is paid for". When I asked him to remove the mound of cement from my garden, he told me, "cement is biodegradable". "Trust me", he said, "this is a highly regulated industry, since prop 64 warnings, we can only use biodegradable concrete. We have to adhere to strict regulations", he said. Just a bunch of BS. If you want to have an incredibly stressful situation on your hands, a half assed half complete joba huge mess no one wants to finish, and a mound of cement in your garden, no one wants to lug out and to the dump unless you pay a small fortune, then PLEASE hire On The Level Concrete for all your concrete needs.

Then I was told that I could get a free quote visit within 90 minutes...it happened. Then I was told I'd have a quote by the end of the day...and it happened! I know I'm making a big deal out of these issues but integrity is important to me and having respect for my time is too. We've all been there where commitments are missed and you end up so frustrated. Not here. This company checked all the boxes for us, so the same day that I got the quote, I said yes. Now let's talk about the work! OMG! These guys are perfectionist and thank goodness because I have pretty high expectations. Now, I know this isn't typically what happens because schedules can be tight, but I said yes on Friday and they worked all day to finish my job on Saturday...the next day! Impressive! They listened to what we wanted and asked if I was pleased with where the project was headed. They are neat, pleasant, patient, and committed to getting it right. Superior customer service. I recommend this company 1000%!!!

Ended up scheduling about a month out after the quote and got it done. I had realized after the quote that I had wanted another small area done for my BBQ grill and he accommodate my request again for a reasonable price. Super thrilled with how it came out, and I was able to articulate how I wanted it, and was able to see my backyard grow into how I have been seeing it in my head. Not sure I'll need any more cement in the foreseeable future, but when I do I know who I'll be calling!

Justin made some suggestions, and his crew executed perfectly We went with concrete for easier and safer access, benderboard instead of blocks because of the narrow yard. Simple, cleanly done, bed is edged to contain the soil, trees are well seated and fertilized, irrigation updated for the new plantings, weed cloth under the gravel. Concrete has a nice brushed finish for traction in the wet, tree is staked, can't wait to see them bloom. It's the nice little details that make a quality job. Every day the site was cleaned as if they hadn't been there, they worked quickly and carefully even in the narrow areas. I'm very happy with the job and execution, and highly recommend them.

It took me over a year to emotionally recover from the trauma of working with this business as a first major renovation project. --- Long story below As a first major home improvement project (front yard and driveway remodel), I hired a separate professional designer, had 3D renderings made, selected materials in advance, and clearly communicated the desired aesthetic and expected quality to all bidding contractors. Justin's Professional Landscaping had strong early reviews and was responsive at first. I agreed to a contract requiring over 25% upfront payment (which I now regret). Key issues I experienced: - Repeated requests for payment before corresponding work was completed - An uncomfortable incident where the foreman (Justin's father) came to my home on an off-day claiming he hadn't been paid, despite my having already paid Justin. - Poor daily cleanup, resulting in my HOA issuing a notice - Minimal on-site supervision by Justin - Workmanship issues (photos available), including: A unleveled wall that started leaning forward shortly after installation, uneven capstones and a section creating a tripping hazard, poorly graded and uneven pavers, joint sand not installed promptly, and walkway that was not correctly aligned with my front door. By the time these issues surfaced, I had paid about 90% of the project cost, yet the work was incomplete and did not meet reasonable expectations. A revised scope was attempted for the wall only (against my better judgment), but supervision and execution problems continued. After observing additional mistakes, poor practices and lack of control over the crew, I terminated the contract.
