Plastic pieces in my child's pot stickers

If I could rate this restaurant zero stars I would. I ordered take out yesterday for my family from here with zero expectations and I was still disappointed. The sweet and sour chicken that was ordered turned out to be a mix of pork and beef, not chicken. Plus it was so dried out my kid couldnt chew the "pieces". No vegetables in the sweet and sour either? Soup was congealed upon serving to my family. My meal, orange chicken, was extremely chewy and had an odd stringy texture. The fried rice was dry and tasted old, as was the "vegeterian" egg rolls that were soaked in grease they were almost gelatin half way down in the package. We bought the rangoons and they were subpar at best. Why would be copious amounts of sugar and immatation crab and cream cheese be a thing? Above everything else, the potstickers that I ordered for my son had a pieces of plastic in them, and the pork inside was bright red, almost like it was dyed. Very off smelling like they were made with cinnamon. For a family of 5 to eat, it cost 125$ for extremely disappointing food. Eat at your own risk. We will NOT be back!!

Very good Chinese food! We ordered Broccoli Beef, Sesame Chicken, and Vegetable Chow Mein to go. I deducted half a star because I felt there should have been more beef in the order. Beef prices are high so I understand. All of it was delicious as usual and portions were large. It was enough food for 2 people with leftovers for another meal the next day! Parking wasn't an issue when we picked up because the restaurant across the street went out of business. I posted all of the current menus (as of January, 2025) so folks can see the variety of dishes and prices. We will try some other dishes the next time. Highly recommended!

Visiting my son in Placerville and decided to order take out from here. We called our order in a half hour before closing and that was no big deal. Food is prepared to order. Take out only currently. We ordered chow mein, fried rice, hot and sour soup, broccoli beef, honey walnut prawns and general chicken. Also egg rolls. Owner was friendly as her and my son joked about Bay Area folks. Turns out long ago she had a location in SF. The portions were good and everything was enjoyable. 5 stars because there is nothing they could have done better. We will order again I imagine.

Iron Wok is a quaint little place that's easy to find and semi easy to find parking. They have their own parking lot but very little spaces. Upon arrival the place was clean and we were seated right away. The dishes we chose were fresh with good flavor. I was impressed that for a Chinese Restaurant, they carried decent wine. We chose a Boeger red (thank goodness we didn't have to drink Sutter Home!) Service was friendly and fast and the price range is fair. I'm from out of the area, but when I'm near Placerville, I'll have no hesitation to stop here again. read more

My maiden name is Fong, so I grew up eating homemade chinese food and going to a lot of chinese restaurants. I LOVE chinese food!! I have been to every chinese restaurant in Placerville and the surrounding area. This place is by far the best in our little town! The honey walnut shrimp, egg flour soup, Mongolian beef, wonton soup is delicious. Highly recommend, and the owners are very sweet. read more

Iron Wok is hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had! My family and I have been going there for years, our hearts were broken when they told us they'd be moving to Placerville. What were we to do now?! Well...now we drive an hour from Elk Grove to Placerville! And it's worth it every time. The food is always steaming hot, fresh, delicious and served from a very sweet family. We love the owners and the very successful restaurant they've created. It's a comfortable, clean place, and the only place I eat Chinese from now. 10/10 stars read more

This is a great restaurant. Everything was prepared independently with different sauces. It was fresh and well presented. I generally an not a major fan of Chinese food. However, this place is so good I'm converted. You won't find anything near as good between Placerville and San Francisco. Try it out and you'll see! read more

Food was excellent and the waitress was nice. That being said the people cooking (open kitchen) were very stoic and cold and giving my children looks. They're toddlers and I was a waitress for a long time, my kids weren't bad at all AND I cleaned up after them. It wasn't like they were incredibly messy and running around or anything like that. On top of that, even though it seemed really clean in there, we all had horrible stomach aches and generally never have that problem, especially all 5 of us. read more

First time for lunch. Favorite was the Walnut Shrimp for $14 you will love it. Orange chicken great, no complaints but one. No one on this review mentioned the noise, I asked the waitress about the noise, she said it's the deep fryer and fan that keeps going on and off. Plus we noticed there is no separate kitchen to ward off the noise. It was so distressing and loud to us we will not eat inside again. Outside weather permitting or take out. I on reflection coming home both me and my husband had stomach aches. He ordered Prawn with Vegetables and had no problem until he had my Orange Chicken later that night. We will not return. read more

My Chinese friend and I tried this new place on Main St in Placerville....the food was wonderful...very fresh and very nice flavor. It is Americanized Chinese food but they went out of their way to make my friend authentic wonton soup! I highly recommend this restaurant not just because of the food but because it is the cleanest Chinese restaurant I've been to in a very long time! read more

Had lunch here. The food was absolutely fantastic - great taste, good portions and quick! We ordered the lunch plates - Veggie mix with steamed rice, cashew chicken with Pork BBQ fried rice. Both came with a soup (egg drop) and a spring roll. Plus we ordered pot stickers for our son, who really liked them. It was quick with great service and nice ambiance. We were able to get back to exploring Placerville quite quickly. read more

In my opinion Placerville has not had a good Chinese food restaurant for awhile. That has all changed now. My experience was great. The orange chicken was delicious and had a very fresh taste to it. The hot and sour soup was delicious. The egg roll and pork fried rice were also very fresh and flavorful. The restaurant was very clean, the service was fast and friendly, the portions were large and it was very reasonably priced. What more could you ask for. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is the only place I'll go to Chinese food now. You can tell the meat is quality. It's not like other places that basically just give a tiny piece of meat with a bunch of fried batter. Every item we got was amazing! read more

So my favorite Chinese restaurant closed and I thought my world was caving in!!!!! Then one glorious day a coworker and I decide to go to lunch. I was telling her about my favorite Chinese restaurant closing and she asked me if I had ever been to the Iron Wok. I said no and she insisted it was sooo incredible! Ok I said and we went. I ordered my favorite Honey Walnut Prawns. I can't tell you how happy I was. The shrimp was lightly breaded. The sweet cream sauce was just pure comfort and the sweet crunchy walnuts were so freaking good! Days have gone by and I am getting ready to leave the next day to a Slayer show and didn't want to cook dinner. I thought man Chinese sounds amazing. I thought oh yeah the Iron Wok!!!! I ordered my favorite, some Generals chicken , veggie chow mein and crab rangoons! My world has started to take back its form and I am now proud to say Iron Wok is now my favorite Chinese restaurant!!!!!!! read more

We moved to Placerville 12 years ago and have not found a Chinese restaurant that we really liked until now. This is it. We ate there for the first time last night at a neighbor's suggestion, and the food was great. Our standard fare in Chinese restaurants is Mu Shu pork and Kang Pao chicken: these were maybe the best we've had anywhere. Also, the pot stickers were plump and delicious. The service was super personable. We'll be recommending this place to our friends and neighbors. Sure hope that the Iron Wok is here to stay and maintains this quality. . read more

What a great place. Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Every plate was excellent. I noticed they didn't have Oyster Beef and asked. The response was "I make it for you with mushroom and Zucchini". It was just excellent. Lady who took order was excellent. It has taken awhile to find good Chinese food in the area. As a fine connoisseur of American Chinese food, particularly General Chicken. This place has been hyped up to me by many. I have to say it wasnt the best "even in town." But it was pretty good. I went the first week they were open. Fresh food, great ingredients, great service. I ordered the Broccoli Beef... Good, but not great. I wish they could have done something original to give them a 5th star. If I were to say something to the owners, it would be: 'Feel free to do something different with a typical Americanized dish. It would be great to find a plate that was exceptional. Offer a spicy option for all your entrees, please. (?) This might give you the edge you need. You are surrounded by at least 3 other Chinese restaurants; 2 are inferior and one is exceptional. You have a great location, and your pricing reflects that...if nothing else, to cover the lease. We decided to go with the family dinner (special B) option that gives you the choice to select about a dozen menu items to share family style. This option also comes with soup, pork fried rice, egg rolls and fried shrimp for $18.50 a person. The ambience was quiet and similar to many other Chinese restaurants. They have booths and tables for smaller parties and larger rounded tables with a Lazy Susan for larger groups. The service was great. I was surprised how quickly all of the food came out. One plate after another, and suddenly the table was packed with hot food ready to eat. Everyone working was friendly and attentive, filling our cups with water, providing extra napkins, and checking on us frequently if we needed anything else. Oh, and the food was so good. I particularly loved the fried rice, broccoli beef, orange chicken, and Mongolian beef. To be honest, all of the food was delicious, but those stood out to me from the other plates we ordered. There was so much food that we couldn't eat everything, so we had plenty of takeout boxes to take food home. For the price of the family dinner options, you can't go wrong with a great price and the amount of food you get. It's very much worth it. He finished clearing the table and walked away. He came back 10 minutes later and without saying a word he placed the bill on our table and left. Luckily we had the cash to cover it and a tip. As we walked away he rushed over, likely to make sure we weren't skipping out since he had been so rude. Will we go back? Uh no. This could have been handled much differently leaving us wanting to try them again.

The meat lovers sandwich had a noticeable sweet flavor I'm assuming from the spaghetti sauce but it really lacked depth. It honestly reminded me of canned spaghetti and a sloppy joe. It also seemed like there was no ranch dressing even though it's part of the sandwiches name. I appreciate the creativity and whimsy they've put into their menu. I just don't think the execution and flavor profiles are where they should be.

They serve organic coffee and I could really taste the difference. They currently have a seasonal menu and their regular menu included some unique options. The maple latte caught my eye; I ordered it with oat milk and it was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. Seriously! It wasn't overpoweringly sweet, but there was enough flavor so it actually tasted like a maple latte instead of a warm milk as many special drinks end up tasting from my experience. It's always disappointing to buy an expensive coffee that doesn't have enough flavor, but you'll get what you pay for here. They offer a few little snacks and there is tons of seating (indoor and outdoor!) with beautiful natural light, art and plants. The baristas were kind and helpful and made beautiful latte art. If you love it as much as I did, you can even buy coffee beans and merchandise as well. It's tucked away in downtown placerville and I would highly recommend Pachamama to everyone!

In its modest store front next to a bagel shop, you'd never know what you're about to experience. The food here is Thee best Chinese food I've ever ate. I'm a huge fan of Chinese but extremely fussy. I've ate at some of the finest Chinese restaurants in the biggest cities around and this place blows them ALL out of the water. The ingredients are fresh, the chicken is white and succulent even the orange chicken, you'll not want to share that, so make sure your party members order their own. I usually suffer after deep fried anything, but that orange chicken..DELISH . I've also gauged my many Chinese restaurants on their ability to make a good hot and sour, well hands down, the finest, it was packed with ingredients and absolutely fantastic, that would be a non-sharer too.. tell them to get their own! I've ate multiple times convinced that they'll slip but hasn't happened yet, open kitchen and it's spotless! I just can't say enough about the quality of food these guys push out, consistently. IRON WOK is the real deal high end chineese food cooking without the high price!!!!! I ordered the Orange Chicken and it was to die for. "Regular" places serve the kinda hard chicken pieces doused in orange sauce. IRON WOK serves actual hand sliced chicken chunks, breaded and perfectly sauced. And the serving platter was huge. I'm talking feed 5 people just w that one dish huge. The owner is wonderful!!!!! So welcoming and kind. Full Disclosure: I called and they were closed until 3pm. I recently dined at Iron Wok Chinese restaurant, and I have to say it was an outstanding experience! The food was absolutely delicious--every dish was packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Everything we ordered was fresh and tasted amazing. The service was just as impressive. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. They made sure we had everything we needed and checked in regularly without being intrusive. Overall, Iron Wok offers not only top-notch Chinese cuisine but also a warm and inviting atmosphere.
