Tonight my partner and I ordered Iron Works delivery and I was very happy!! The food arrived fast despite it being a Friday night. Plus, I'm a newly vegetarian so it was awesome seeing some options for me. I got the Cauliflower and Lentil fritters and a Black Bean/ Chickpea burger. The fritters were delicious and fluffy with a yummy sauce. The burger was tasty and I also enjoyed my side of truffle fries, not to mention a pickle! My partner really enjoyed a small Caesar salad (that I tried and it was great!) with real croutons. He also enjoyed the burger and it was properly cooked. Overall, we were very pleased. It's a little expensive but the packaging was impressive, they gave us free cookies and everything tasted wonderful. I would definitely order again :) read more

The food I had was good - I had crabcakes and a cauliflower dish. But the service was very, very meh. One guy came and poured my water. He spilled water on the floor - it splashed on my shoes/foot and created a hazardous situation right by my table. It was quite a bit of water. The whole time I was there, no one came to clean up the water. I thought it was very rude of him to not acknowledge his messy pouring and very unprofessional to leave a little puddle in the middle of the walkway. I could only assume he could care less about what I thought. Nor did he care if I were to slip and fall when I got out of my seat. Overall, between the waitress, messy pour guy (who looked like, based on interactions I saw, he may have been a manager) and just the service - I felt like they didn't care too much about me as a customer. Stopped in for a little bite to eat as we dropped our son off at the airport and my wife had never been here. Ordered the cauliflower fritters - simply amazing - and the prime rib sandwich to share. We were so pleasantly surprised that they cut the sandwich in half and served both my wife and I with their delicious fries on our own plates as well. They're very allergy-conscious; I have celiac disease and there are a lot of options for me on the menu. All I can say is this place has amazing food, and service. The food never fails is so amazing. I have a gluten allergy, and this place gives me options for the food is delicious. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which is connected to the Iron Works. I cannot say enough about how wonderful how are experience was. When we first walked in we were told it would be a wait for the table unless we were willing to sit at the bar. Because we were hungry we decided not to wait for a table but sit at the bar. This was the best decision we could've made. There were three people working at the bar and they all took care of us. They showed real teamwork. before we sat at the bar they cleaned the area and then disinfected it which gave me a good sense of security. My husband ordered a local fish special which he thought was OK but not quite spicy enough for his liking. Since he was so hungry after he ate the fish he ordered the fried calamari appetizer which was definitely spicy like he wanted. I had a hard time deciding what to get on the menu since I am on weight watchers. When I mentioned that to the bar tender right away she suggested the roasted chicken with broccolini, carrots and extra vegetables. She said I could get the sauces on the side. So I did as instructed and the food was very tasty and juicy and very Weight Watchers friendly. It was also very filling since it was a half of a roasted chicken. From our seats at the bar we could see all of the food that was being brought out and every single dish looked amazing. Everything came out hot and perfectly presented. Even the salads looked delicious. For desert we decided to order the flourless chocolate cake. It was outstanding! The menu said it had hazelnuts sprinkled on top. I could not believe how many hazelnuts were in it and the raspberry sauce was delicious and not too sweet. It was so rich that we wound up taking half of it to go because it was too good to waste. To top this all off was the very reasonable price of our dinner. We had 2 entrees, an appetizer, an IPA and desert and the total bill was less then $90. We stopped in here tonight for dinner with a friend who has a couple month old. My friend went to change her baby in the bathroom and very surprised there was not a diaper changing table. We got the cowboy caviar and hand cut fries. The chips that came with the cowboy caviar didn't taste very fresh. The caviar (veg) itself was good. My husband and enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Iron Works. I'm not one to post reviews but our experience warrants one. The food and, moreover, the service by our server, Diana, was just perfect. I commented to my husband that Diana was, by far, the best server we've ever had anywhere! Diana was attentive, friendly, funny and just an all around fantastic person! The restaurant had a cool atmosphere, too. Oh.... and the strawberry shortcake sundae for dessert, recommended by Diana, was out of this world delicious!. We will definitely be back! read more

This place has been totally redone since I was last there. It is much brighter and the seating flows better. There were four of us for lunch. Our waitress was very attentive but not intrusive. We all were extremely happy with our lunches, 2 of us had the farro salad with grilled vegetables with the addition of the chicken option. One had the tacos and one had a chicken sandwich on gluten free bread. After ordering gluten free bread she was advised the French fries did not have a dedicated fryer which is helpful information for someone with Celiac disease which she has. My husband and I stopped here to grab something to eat on our way home bc it was close off the highway and yelp never steers me wrong. First we loved the decor and the ambiance of the building. Beautiful brick building, pretty flowers and hanging plants in the pots outside, nice big bar, cool exposed pipes on the ceiling and low lighting created a great vibe. Our waiter was very nice and we ordered the calamari app which was very good. Nice and crispy and perfectly seasoned. My husband ordered the Mac n cheese with the pulled beef short rib and I got the CBR sandwich with a side of Caesar salad. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The Mac n cheese was to DIE for. And my sandwich and salad was soooooooo good! I love Caesar dressing that is homemade and this dressing did not disappoint. Also, the tomato jam on my sandwich was sweet and savory and the chicken was fried and had such good breading on it. I seriously wish this place was closer to my house but *sigh* it is not. Traveled with a team. Stayed 3 nights. Typical routine, try a new local authentic Restaurant each night. Not here. By unanimous vote, we ate all three nights at Iron Works! So convenient. Connected to our Hotel. Close to the airport, but the kicker was this: AWESOME EMPLOYEES and Better than Terrific food! I had the lobster roll. All I can say is I want more! We shared an order of mac n' cheese, and it was delicious. I had the margarita, and it was an excellent choice with my dinner. The ambiance was excellent. IWT is a place worth visiting in the Providence area. I highly recommend taking the time - even if you're downtown - to visit IWT and have dinner. If you do, make sure you make reservations. We failed to do so and had to wait about an hour for the table. The food was so worth the wait. read more

Good, not great. Probably will work out some of the issues in time. Went in the middle of a driving rain storm which probably didn't help. Had to mull around a bit and wait for a bar spot to open. The place was packed to the gills. Ordered Clam Chowder and Salmon and a glass of Whistlepig 10 Year Employees Choice. The whiskey was good, and had the spice you'd expect out of a rye. The Chowder was also good. The Salmon took nearly an hour to come out after ordering. When it did, it was barely above room temperature and it was also translucent in the middle. If it was hot and translucent, or if it was cooked through and still kind of cold, I'd have eaten it, but the combination of both low temp and see through color was disconcerting. I had it returned and cooked longer. 10 minutes later the same piece of salmon was given back to me (I broke it in a specific way and it was returned broken which is fine!) and it was definitely hot. Whether it was just microwaved or if it was regrilled I couldn't tell, but at least I am certain it didn't have anything that could make me sick. For 50 bucks plus tip, the food came out quite slowly although it definitely was pretty tasty. It was also a nice big, thick portion of fish for what it's worth. I think the kitchen was extremely rushed and that's why my plate came out badly. But who knows. I probably won't give this place a try again, but that's entirely due to me living in Atlanta and never coming up here... but I'd wager if you went when it was a bit less busy it'd be just fine. read more

Step back into history Way back in 1867 Thomas Jefferson Hill built a factory to make iron malleable castings. Quite an impressive place for the time and the whole area grew up around his factory. Unfortunately like many buildings at the time it caught fire and burned down. It was rebuilt in 1918 but eventually went out of business. The malleable iron castings never returned but a pretty interesting restaurant remains. The Iron Works Tavern is now located in part of the building where the innovative old factory once stood. It still looks very cool from the outside but once inside the huge eight foot and three hundred pound doors it becomes obvious that this isn't just another place to fill your belly. There is a lot of history in here. Exposed beams and pipes, cool bricks and stones walls and lots of plaques and old pictures grace the walls. We spent a long time in the lobby just taking in the cool ambiance and history dripping off every corner. Seems there was always something new and interesting to look at or read, Of course they have more than just history, some pretty good food is also served here. The menu is pretty creative with stuff like Mediterranean ravioli, rolled stuffed eggplant, fried smelts, shrimp Jefferson and some cool salads, burgers and sandwiches that are available. Although some of the food can get quite pricey, inexpensive luncheon specials are offered that change from day to day. Fish & chips. roast turkey dinner, pot pies and lasagna are all under ten bucks during the week. Definitely a cool place to have lunch or a more formal dinner. Unusual and different food with a fantastic building with all sorts of interesting stuff to look at. A place to go when you get the desire to step back into history. read more

We sat at the bar and enjoyed great service, cold local craft beers and very good bar food all presented at a reasonable price. We visited Iron Works Tavern to enjoy the Providence Restaurant week menu. It was my first visit here and the ambiance of the restaurant was very cool, has the appearance of an updated factory with modern finishes. There was a small lunch crowd and we were seated quickly. Service was generally good but somewhat slow considering how few people were dining. We all loved our appetizers...Caesar salad and New England Clam Chowder were excellent and highly recommend trying one or both! As for the main meals, we were divided in our feelings on the dishes. The swordfish catch of the day was excellently done and served with well prepared green beans and rice. The Mac and cheese (tavern special) looked delicious but did not have much of a taste disappointingly so two of us were bummed. The Thai fajitas were beautiful and fairly tasty as well. We also liked our desserts of a generous portion...chocolate mousse and cheesecake. Tips: This restaurant is easily accessible via TF Green airport and the attached train station (walk across the above ground bridge to the rental car garage and cross the street!). They have a gorgeous private upstairs space available for private events and parties...groups up to 125! Would love to be invited to an event here. They have dog goodie bags for $5 with homemade treats for any furry friends you had to leave at home! read more

Showed up with a party of 10, including 6 children, and we had an amazing experience. Our server, Brian, was exceptional and everyone's meal were delicious. Although the menu is somewhat limited, everything we ordered was cooked fresh and well flavored. Do not skip dessert, the cheesecake and bread-pudding are better than your grandmother's recipe.
