Oh my gosh this was tooo good. The food was so fresh, you could tell they made everything in house from a local farm. The biscuits were so good. We also got the bread & butter, which the bread & honey spread was a 11/10. I ordered the fish and chips they were were pretty good but were way too gourmet for my liking. I mean this is New England. Nick's felt like a warm hug...cozy, quaint, and full of heart. My sister-friend Kerline told us it was like a second home for them, and I totally get it now! I'm a super picky eater with a cinnamon allergy (epi-pen ready!), but they nailed it. I had the Breakfast Plus with well-done bacon, and let me tell you, the biscuit and blood orange jam stole the show. Everything was fresh, local, and full of flavor, right down to my Granny Squibb's organic tea. Husbae devoured the rhubarb-strawberry pancakes, chicken sausage, and home fries. We also tried a yogurt parfait that was missing the granola based on how it was described beforehand, but it was so good, I didn't ask for it! I loved hearing the kitchen crew communicate. I even heard my allergy mentioned, which gave me so much peace of mind. Our server was an absolute gem: kind, efficient, and totally on point. Brought a couple friends visiting from out of town to Nicks along with my own family on Saturday morning. It was awesome as usual. It's always fun to see what Chef/Owner Derek is carving up in the wee hours of the morning online for the next day/s meals. Even better to have a chance to have the Vermont Cheddar Polenta & Summer Vegetables with the add on of the fish of the day in one of his posts. In this case a perfect Blue Fin Tuna delivered by the fishermen, caught it a few hours before. I can't ever make great tuna at home but this was the best I've ever had and I've had my share. If I didnt know better, I could have been convinced it was a great piece of Waygu cooked rare, seared and seasoned on the edges. The Polenta was equally perfect. The best way to get a grumpy three year old grand daughter to cheer up was to have her dig into the Fresh fruit Parfait with house honey oat granola, Aquidneck honey & Narragansett Creamery yogurt. It's never not a 10. As usual service perfect. I just hope when James Beard awards elevate Nicks and Derek from the usual finalist nominee to winning I can still get a seat. Decided to eat dinner here from recommendations from people online as we traveled through. We arrived a little after 7pm. Our waitress took our order, brought our wine about 10 minutes later. We ordered 3 raw oysters as an appetizer, and the broccoli, mushroom and tomato cavatelli and chargrilled black bird farm beef for entrees. Grossly disappointed is an understatement. We did not get our oysters to the table until 7:45pm and the entree didn't get to our table until 8:15.. an hour and 15 minutes for a pasta dish and steak and potatoes is insane. Our waitress did not come to the table one time in the hour and 15 minutes we were waiting for our food. And to top it all off it was over $100 for pasta that needed salt and pepper (which was not provided on the table). Only good thing brought out was the wine and oysters. Do not recommend and definitely won't be back. read more

I feel like you know when your meal will be good when you see a small menu, intimate setting, and an open immaculate kitchen. We came here right before a show in Rhode Island and food did not disappoint. I had the cauliflower soup and roasted fish. It was my first time having fluke and it was perfectly done on a bed of lentils and vegetables. The finishing touch of warm chocolate banana bread with ice cream was perfect. Years ago I lived in Providence and I came to Nicks every now and then for brunch, but haven't been back in years. After seeing a post on their Instagram about a special birthday prefixe menu, I figured it was a perfect excuse to come back and take my husband who had never been. We made early reservations and were seated right away by a very friendly hostess. Our server was great, making sure we had what we needed and refilling our glasses throughout the evening. The food was some of the best I've had in a long time, the courses were served in perfect timing, and we left fully stuffed (and in my case buzzed from all of the great drinks). Several people have recommended Nicks on Broadway to me and my only complaint is that I didn't go sooner. The atmosphere is definitely an upscale eatery so I would definitely plan to dress cute casual. We went for Sunday brunch and it may be my go to brunch special occasions. Let me first give a special shout out to the hot chocolate. My favorite hot chocolate in the world is at Harrod's in London and all other hot chocolate is a distant second until this one. I think this at least equal if not slightly better so well done! The pancakes drizzled with caramel on top were also fantastic. The pancakes are thin, almost like crepes but definitely like pancakes. They're amazing. Their flavor was so complimentary with the caramel. My husband ordered oysters which he was very happy with. He said the flavor was excellent and the presentation was just beautiful. Nicks can be good for brunch but this last time was a little disappointing it took about an hour to get our meals which included two Benedicts, one special breakfast, and the apple pancakes. The Benedict's weren't that great the biscuit did not have much flavor, the grilled ham gave it a different smokey/grill taste, and the hollandaise sauce was bland. The special plate has scrambled eggs which were fine, and the potatoes were overly done and greasy, the bacon was good but a little charred as well. The positive here was the apple pancakes were good, light, fluffy with a nice apple compote filling on top. For ambiance it's a little loud for talking in the main dining area and the air was blowing on the tables making it a little chilly. We have had great meals at Nicks but this missed the mark. The service was insanely slow making the entire experience a big disappointment. read more

There was a line out the door waiting to get in though, so definitely a popular place - make a reservation if you can, and if you can't try to get there early! Street parking as per usual. Great service; a very nice place with upscale cuisine. The Eggs Benny is NOT a typical benedict, though! If you are craving eggs benedict, this might not satisfy your desire. The eggs are fried, not poached, but more importantly the sauce on top is NOT hollandaise, but rather a mild cream sauce with herbs. It is good, but very mild in flavor, and the biscuit it comes on is a bit dry. Just a note to benedict lovers that this is a different concoction, so don't be suprised if it is not what you would exoecr! Otherwise this place is very nice! read more

Nicks on Broadway is an elegant feeling restaurant with an open kitchen. I recently enjoyed an excellent diner from the restaurant week menu with my friend. She has a nut allergy and we heard them noting that as the order went through the kitchen, which is always reassuring. We both had the summer salad to start, and then she had the tuna as a main while I had the Bolognese. For dessert we ordered the vanilla panna cotta and the warm dark chocolate crumble. We enjoyed each course. The bolognese in particular was excellent. It was a little spicier from a flavor perspective than other bolognese I've had, and was served with some extremely fresh ricotta cheese. The panna cotta was also excellent. The staff at Nick's is also goes above and beyond. Our main waiter was funny and attentive. At another point, someone else came to bring a course and accidentally knocked over my friends almost empty wine glass. She refilled it with about a half glass to make up for it. And then as we left, one of the chefs wished us a good night. We were the second to last table there, and they weren't rushing us at all. read more

A classic brunch spot off the main stretch of Fed Hill, Nicks on Broadway is near impossible to get a seat on weekends but a good option on a weekday. I have fond memories of an eggs benedict I had here a couple years back, which sadly is no longer on the menu, so I opted for the Honey Chili Chicken Biscuit instead. The biscuit was great, with a cripsy exterior and lushly fluffy interior, and paired very well with the cheddar and chipotle sauce. I am a huge fan of Baffoni Farm chicken, but sadly it was slightly on the drier side in this dish (but was thankfully offset by the sauce). The back patio is much more of a casual ambiance than the main dining room/bar area. Service was friendly. read more

I had looked up places for breakfast on TikTok and Nicks came up so I decided to Huber it a try. The staff was immediately friendly upon me stepping even my pinky toe into the door. I was seated at the chefs counter, where I had a view of the goings on and could hear "yes chef" as orders were called out. I witnessed how the food was prepped like a 5 star restaurant. Evening was cooked with care, eggs were freshly cracked, and those potatoes were oven and pan roasted they used tongs to apply garnishments! I could overhear the camaraderie amongst the team as well. The chef randomly checked on customers to make sure they were satisfied, which everyone was It was just a great experience. The food was top tier! Those potatoes were roasted and seasoned to perfection, with a little bit of crunch on the outside but soft on the inside. The eggs were perfectly over medium, just like I asked. The bacon was not crispy but it was delicious. The fruit salad was fresh and had about 4 or 5 fruits. If I lived in Providence I would be here regularly.
