The apricot crumb square's crumbs were soggy; and the filling, disgustingly sweet. The creme brûlée was mediocre. On the counter was a free sample of a pecan-chocolate ring. There was nothing nearby it to serve yourself with, so anybody wanting a taste would have to pick it up with his or her bare hands. I had to tell the counter person to put out a serving utensil for sanitary reasons. She thanked me for my "good idea". She also told me that she is the daughter of the owner and that the place opened in April. I was the only person in the store. Before I left, I asked the young woman for utensils to eat my desserts with. She gave me a fork, whose tines she touched with her bare hands. I had to tell her that she should not do that. I hope this place gets inspected soon by The Suffolk County Department of Health Service. The bakery would definitely FAIL the critical element of "Good Retail Practices" . I will never visit The Copiague Bakery again. If I never go back there, it would be too soon! If I could give them zero stars, I would!

It was moist and flavorful but it crumbled to the touch. I couldn't put my finger on what was causing it, I felt like something was maybe missing from the recipe. It was later in the day when it came to me the answer to my problem. The cake it self had been made fresh, then frozen, thawed out, frosted and decorated. The freezing of the cake made it crumble at time of service. Very disappointing. I didn't last minute order this cake, so why they used frozen cake for my order I cannot understand. Convenience for them I guess, but I was not informed that previously frozen cake would be an option. Each and every piece of cake just crumbled on the plate and presentation was horrible. I was so enticed by the whimsical, atypical flavors and the bright saturated colors. I finally ordered the 5 pack and chose these flavors: 'Cotton Candy', 'Strawberry Crumb', 'Chocolate Banana', 'American Dreamsicle' and 'Italian Rainbow Cookie'. I loved the way each donut was wrapped in plastic and placed so intentionally in its packaging - a sleek gold-colored box with a sticker bearing her logo (a 'C' for Chana that doubles as a donut with purple frosting on it and sprinkles). My boyfriend and I did a "tasting" together trying small ¼ pieces of each flavor. The 'Cotton Candy' (pink frosting with swirls of blue) had a subtle cotton candy flavor but was very sweet, the 'Strawberry Crumb' (bright red) was tart, delicious and one of my favorites. The 'Rainbow Italian Cookie' (covered in tiny green, red & white sprinkles) tasted just like the real cookie; so enjoyable with a pronounced almond flavor. The 'American Deamsicle' (covered in blue, red & white round sprinkles) tasted like orange and was pretty good. My absolute favorite was the 'Chocolate Banana' (a striking yellow with brown swirls), which had a more tolerable sweetness than the others. Overall, I enjoyed the donuts: the taste, the uniqueness and the colors. My only feedback is that I would like the donuts less sweet, so it is easier to eat a whole donut. Having discussed the ingredients she uses in detail, I've been impressed that she uses the healthiest, freshest ingredients. Well, that is NOT the case with Baked by Emily Rose. Not only did we love the cake, but several of our guests said that it was the best wedding cake they've ever had. Also, the cakes were gorgeous. Emily used real white roses to garnish the top. It looked amazing. My only regret is that we were unable to take pictures.
