PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS FOR THE RESEARCH LOCATION. We have taken our dog here for quite some time and were overall pretty happy. That changed this last time the owners sold the company and the new owners took over, as things have definitely gone downhill, which brings me to this review specifically. This past Thursday, July 2nd, I swung by Paw Sweet Paw on my way home to pick up my dog, since my wife dropped her off for a half day. I told the young lady at the front I was here to pick up Boba, and she said, "I'll be right back with Boba."I waited for 15 minutes for her to return, and when she did, she did not have my dog with her, and she stated something like, "they are in the process of moving the dogs". Some more time goes by, and a manager walks by, and I am livid by this point, and I said, "Where is my flippin dog, although I didn't use flippin. She said, " Please hold on for one minute and she walked away and went upstairs. By this point, it had been a half hour, and not to mention there was another gentleman there to drop off his dog, and he had been waiting 15 minutes. Some more time goes by, and I told the lady at the front that I was walking to the back to get my dog, and you can call whoever you want, but this is BS. When I opened up the gate and was proceeding to walk back, the manager came walking down the steps, and again, I said Where the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ HELL is my dog, to which she replied, I don't know how to tell you this, but WE GAVE YOUR DOG TO THE WRONG PERSON. Needless to say, I lost it, and I said, how the hell is that even POSSIBLE on your end, let alone the person that took my dog home. Who the hell picks up their dog and realizes that this is not my dog and takes it home?????? The Manager said that somehow either she lost her paper collar or someone neglected to read the name on the collar and handed her off to another staff member, and they are the ones that gave her to the wrong owner.....When the new owners of Paw Sweet Paw took over, they implemented this paper tag collar policy, and when you check your dog in, they take the regular collars off of the dog and put a paper collar on the dog. I think it is absolutely ridiculous, but somehow, they believe it's to protect the dogs in case they get in a fight or something, to which I still don't understand. By this point, I cannot even see straight, and I am basically yelling at the Manager as to where my dog is and who the hell is going to get her. She said, "I just spoke to the owner, and I am driving to her house right now to get Boba." The lady that took my dog had two dogs, so as the manager was leaving, I said You might want to go back and get her dog..... She said it would take her about 15 minutes to get to the lady's house and 15 minutes back. Finally, after well over an hour, I got my dog back!!!!!!.. Needless to say, she was extremely anxious and was panting very heavily all the way home, and her heart was racing as well. She finally settled down later that night.....I am not sure what dogs think, but I believe Boba might've been thinking she was being abandoned because she has never been anywhere except Paw Sweet Paw. All in all, I think it was about a 1.5-hour ordeal (nightmare). The Manager said she started 3 weeks ago, apologized profusely, and said she is going to rectify the problem so that it never happens again. She also said that the District Manager would be calling my wife, because by this time, my wife had come down as well. They did call later on that night from a blocked number and left a message with no number to call back. We're still waiting for her to call back. It really sucks because this is the only place we have ever taken Boba, and she actually likes it there cause she is not locked up all day and can play with other dogs. My dog is already anxious, so the idea of finding a new boarding place is less than desirable, but I might have no choice. read more

We brought both of our Samoyeds in requesting a puppy cut. During the appointment, we received a call and text stating that both dogs were severely matted and needed to be shaved. We trusted their professional judgment and agreed. However, we were never told that they would be shaved down this short or that they would be left nearly hairless. Agreeing to shave matted areas is very different from expecting this extent of shaving. When we picked them up, we were shocked by the result. One of our dogs also had a bleeding leg and was clearly uncomfortable. We were told this was "normal" because of the matting, but there was little concern shown for the injury or our dog's discomfort. What upset us the most was how our concerns were handled. When we tried to discuss what had happened, we were repeatedly told that they had called and texted us and that we had agreed to the shave, rather than acknowledging that the extent of the shave had never been explained. Instead of listening to our concerns, we felt dismissed throughout the conversation. To make matters worse, some of the front desk staff appeared to be laughing while we were trying to discuss the situation. Whether intentional or not, it came across as disrespectful and made an already upsetting experience even worse. We were also told that because we live in 80-degree weather, shaving a Samoyed is fine and that our breeder was wrong. We understand that severe matting can sometimes require shaving, but we expected honest communication, professionalism, and empathy throughout the process. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling misled, dismissed, and disrespected. We hope future clients receive clearer communication about the extent of any grooming changes before they are made and are treated with greater compassion if concerns arise. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Paw Sweet Paw was so disappointing that I feel obligated to share it. We chose Paw Sweet Paw because it markets itself as a luxury pet hotel. We were happy to pay the premium price because we wanted the very best care for our dog, Elvis. Unfortunately, the experience did not match what was promised. We were told we would receive webcam access, daily report cards, and photos throughout his stay. After the first day, I had to call because no one ever sent the webcam link as promised. We received only one daily report during his entire stay, and it wasn't until nearly a week after he had already been there. There were also a couple of days when Elvis never appeared on the webcam, which was especially concerning because he is a timid and anxious dog. I tried calling the facility repeatedly over the course of two days to check on him, and no one answered the phone. When we picked him up, things only got worse. We had paid to have him bathed before going home, yet he was returned to us still wet and smelling bad. We were told, "He didn't like the blow dryer." That is simply not an acceptable excuse. Elvis is professionally groomed every two weeks because my daughter has allergies, so returning him wet and smelly after we specifically paid for grooming was extremely disappointing. The most upsetting part was Elvis himself. He came home withdrawn, unusually depressed, and hoarse. We were so concerned about his condition that we took him to the veterinarian to make sure he was okay. To add to our disappointment, we had packed a brand-new blanket hoping it would help him feel more comfortable during his stay. When we unpacked his belongings at home, the blanket was still sealed in its original packaging. It had never even been opened. We chose Paw Sweet Paw because we believed the premium price meant premium care. Instead, we experienced poor communication, services that were not delivered as advertised, and a dog who came home in a condition that left us worried enough to seek veterinary care. The sign out front is peeling so that tells you all you need to know about their attention to detail. They say feline reports with photos get sent daily - they don't. For a 5 night stay, I got one report on my cat. Food containers you provide for your cat are just open every time they're returned and bugs will fly out - disgusting. My dog spent one night with them. When we went to pick him up, he was found to have peed on himself, odd but we waited for a quick wash. They lost his bag with his Tupperware and food. Lost his dog bed.Walking to the car he was very weak on the back legs. Something was not right but we decided to get him home and see him relaxed before assuming the worst. At home, his back paw was bloody on the pad of one foot and a small bleeding area on the other back paw. We waited to clean him and calm down before addressing this. We recently started bringing our two dogs to daycare at Paw Sweet Paw at the Irvine Spectrum Center, and we couldn't be happier with our experience in especially because of Ian. Our little family includes George, our Frenchie who recently underwent back surgery, and Waldo, our Portuguese Water Dog/Poodle mix who struggles with extreme anxiety. Leaving them anywhere can be stressful for us, but Ian immediately put our minds at ease. He is incredibly friendly, professional, and, most importantly, genuinely wonderful with our dogs. He takes the time to understand their individual needs and treats them with such patience and care. With George's recovery and Waldo's anxiety, that extra attentiveness means everything to us. It's clear Ian truly loves what he does, and it shows in the way our pups light up when they see him. We keep coming back because of Ian and the way he treats George and Waldo. I'm sure the entire team is just as kind, but Ian consistently goes above and beyond, and we are so grateful to have found someone we trust with our babies. read more

I've been a loyal customer at Paw Sweet Paw for about a year, bringing my dog here since she was a puppy. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. While the facility is clean and the grooming itself is relatively done well, the overall customer service has declined significantly. Front desk support is inconsistent, and there is often no one present to properly greet or assist customers upon arrival. I also had a concerning experience during a vet visit when my dog was noticeably low-energy and not acting like herself. The vet provided minimal guidance and simply told me to monitor her at home, which was not reassuring. My most recent visit was the deciding factor. My grooming appointment had already been rescheduled twice without any attempt to accommodate me with another groomer. When I arrived, I was told my dog's vaccination records were not updated in their system and I could not proceed with the appointment. While I understand the importance of vaccinations, notifying me upon my arrival, even after accepting the appointment, is not acceptable. The lack of communication was frustrating, but what stood out most was the lack of basic customer care. The front desk staff offered no apology, no attempt to problem-solve, and no effort to reschedule. I was simply turned away and told they "were supposed to call," which never happened. Preparing my high-energy dog for appointments takes time and effort, and experiences like this make it clear that customer consideration is not a priority here. I am so delighted, grateful, and relieved that we found this perfect place to board our dog when we are away. Our German Shepherd, Scout, is a big and energetic 5 year old female. She boarded other places before... I wish we had found Paw Sweet Paw sooner! The facility is immaculate, the group play dynamic is wonderful, the staff are incredibly kind and attentive, and the website for booking and uploading info and accessing video and photos makes it more modern and intuitive than elsewhere. I took my dog in for a bath, and when they called me to pick him up, I noticed they had completely forgotten to trim his nails. I had to bring him back and remind them. A little while later, they brought him out again and the groomer told me that was the shortest they could cut them because they were "close to the vein." Saw this place was offering a week of free daycare (most dog daycares only offer 1st day free) so I was interested, and went in to tour. There was trash all on the floor in the front of the building (red flag #1), the large and unutilized lobby was empty, no humans behind the front desk (red flag #2). Eventually someone came out to meet me and said they were going to show me the area. Instead of actually taking me to the area where the dogs are, to see important things like the cleanliness of the dog play area, they led me up some filthy stairs with dog hair everywhere. I've never seen so much animal hair on the floor before. Clearly it never gets cleaned. (Red flag #3). They have a large upstairs area, which again is unutilized space. They have you look out through a big window to the dog area below, which you cannot tell cleanliness standards from up there at all. I was trying to see the small dogyard, but you can't see much of anything from the upstairs window. What I did see, however, was dogs crying in the very small confined boarding type rooms. I asked why they weren't out playing in the play area and was told when they are understaffed, they just stick them in those little rooms instead of letting them play. (Red flag #4). At this point I left as quickly as possible, knowing that I would never bring my dog to such a place! Not only were those boarding suites way too small, but there is no reason someone should be paying for daycare to have their dogs stuck in a tiny room instead of roaming around to actually play just because they can't properly staff!! read more

My Experience With Grooming Services at Paw Sweet Paw (This review reflects my personal experience under California's Consumer Review Fairness Act.) I'm sharing this because I believe other pet owners in Irvine and Orange County deserve to know what happened during my recent grooming visits at Paw Sweet Paw. My intention is simply to describe my experience as accurately as possible. Recent Visit - November 24, 2025 After picking up my dog, Suki, from grooming, I noticed he was squinting and keeping one eye partially closed, which was unusual for him. Over the next few hours, I observed that the eye became more irritated and developed some discharge. Because his symptoms were increasing, I took him to Pacific Care Pet Emergency in Irvine. The veterinarian examined him, performed a fluorescein stain test, and documented corneal ulcers in both eyes. The full medical report and invoice were provided to me. Suki was prescribed ophthalmic antibiotic ointment and an Elizabethan collar for several days. This was a stressful situation for both of us, especially because he had not shown any eye issues prior to the grooming appointment. I am not making any assumptions about exactly how the irritation occurred -- I am simply stating the sequence of events and the information given to me by the emergency veterinarian. Previous Visits This experience was part of a pattern I personally observed during earlier grooming appointments: * September 2025: After grooming, I noticed redness and irritation on his face and rear area. * March 2025: The haircut provided did not match the instructions and example photo I had discussed, and I did not receive the usual pickup notification. I emailed the business about both situations. I did not receive a response, so I decided to keep a record of these experiences. Why I'm Posting This Review My goal is not to accuse anyone or assign blame. This was the third time our dog has been to Paw Sweet Paw. In previous experiences, all was great, nothing poor to note, which is why this experience was particularly frustrating and unacceptable. We had a scheduled drop off for 7am on Thursday, but when we arrived, no one was there. The 7am drop off was confirmed in our portal and we received a confirmation email and text with the date and time. Normally this wouldn't be a big deal, but we had a train to catch at 8, which was when they opened. After going around the side of the building, calling, ringing the doorbell, and knocking, we finally got him inside 20 minutes after we arrived. We gave them his bed, blanket, two toys he sleeps with, and his slow feeder, since he always wolfs down his meals. We specified how much food he should be getting, and for his brush out appointment we shared where he normally has issues matting. For about 2 hours on Thursday he was off camera while the rest of the dogs were out playing and running around. We called to ask where he was and we were told that he was mounting other dogs and was put in timeout. While our dog is young, he has NEVER mounted another dog. They told us they would bring him out shortly, and we had to call back 30 mins later because he was still not back in the play area. During those 30 minutes, we watched the cameras and watched another dog repeatedly mount a smaller dog, got a photo of it, and emailed it to the facility, as nothing happened to discipline the larger dog, but ours was nowhere to be found. Then again today, he was off camera and I got a bad feeling. My fiancé called and was told that once again, he was mounting other dogs and that he was put in timeout for other dogs' safety. I spent the next 4 hours until we could pick him up watching the cameras like a hawk. I took over 100 screenshots of other dogs mounting and not being removed, dogs being mistreated by staff or not monitored at all while staff was in the corner on their phones, and all the while in those hours, our dog never even got close to mounting another dog. When we picked him up, he was off camera for almost 7 minutes before he was brought out to us, and they returned him REEKING of urine, and his paws soaked in it. They also returned all of his belongings to us exactly how we packed them when we dropped him off. He never received his favorite blanket, his special toys, or his slow feeder. It was all still folded up and packed exactly how we had left it with them. We got him home and immediately had to get him in the bath. We started noticing splotches of red, irritated skin on his paws and his neck. He was too relaxed for his normal self, he was swaying back and forth, and his eyes looked glossy. He normally tries to jump out of the bath 5+ times when we bathe him, and he didn't even try once, he just ended up laying limp on the floor of the bath. He was not our normal happy boy and it was far past him just being "tired". We still don't know what happened to him when he was off camera and we have become increasingly concerned at the possibilities. We are taking him to the vet to see if he was given any substances that were not disclosed to us. I used to recommend PSP to family and friends, but we have since shared this experience with them and have encouraged them to all look elsewhere. I should've paid more attention to the other negative reviews before bringing him here, but we are glad that we have our dog back home where he will be well taken care of. We will not be returning our dog to PSP, even if we have to drive an hour or more for a better facility. The peace of mind is worth it, and you will not have that with PSP. read more

I visited here a month ago in search of a boarding spot for my pup. I was immediately thrown off by the fact they don't have anyone on site at night. The receptionist said they leave at 7pm and arrive the next morning at 5am. However - thankfully my mom caught this - my mom saw the schedule for employees and they're not scheduled to come in until 8am. This means the dogs are left alone for 13 hours. What if there is an emergency overnight? A fire? A flood? A break in? What if a dog gets sick or there is a dog medical emergency? I visited a few other dog boarding places and they said this in not safe. Not necessarily illegal, but there should always be someone on site. Google this place for a recent incident that occurred here. I would never, ever bring my dog here and my personal experience here confirmed this as well. read more

My 13 year old Cairn Terrier loves the exercise and attention he gets whether it's daycare or boarding when I travel for work. I occasionally log into the cameras to watch and am happy with the care he receives. Even though we only go once or twice a week, the staff all seem to know him and love him which always make a pet parent feel good. When I board him I have the option to bring his own dog bed which some other boarding facilities don't allow so that is a huge plus for me. Would not recommend. The staff and management don't seem to care about the dogs and communication is non existent. We had to leave my dog here over the holidays (for 2 weeks) and she came back with a rash/red spots on her belly. I watched everyday on the cameras and it's just a huge warehouse play pen that they put all the dogs in. They pee and poop in there and there's just one person standing in the room the whole time doing nothing - not giving the dogs exercise or playing with them. They'll wipe the pee with a mop, but it does not get cleaned at all. They also wouldn't let us see the room they said my dog was staying in, and when we dropped her off they had zero questions for us about things like how much food she should eat, or when, or any special instructions. I explained she needed these probiotic chews everyday and when I picked her up, the probiotics were still in the box. Also, by 3 or 4pm everyday they would take the dogs back in (don't know where because the cameras only show the play pen). So I don't know what they did from 3pm to night time... they never gave us updates or videos of my dog, just a picture every once in a while that sometimes barely showed my dog or was blurry. Just awful service and indoor conditions for the dogs. I felt so bad for her :( There was also so much confusion and misleading information in the booking process. We wanted to do the train and board program so my dog was kept busy, but the trainer and paw sweet paw don't actually communicate with each other and their schedules don't align... it was so frustrating and ended up being over $1000 for her stay, when I was told it originally would be $700 for the board and train program. Clean facility but cat boarding process was unprofessional. We took both our cats in for boarding. One of the cats didn't have updated vaccines so she had them done before the boarding. For boarding, they require a screening of at least 4 hours, which makes sense for employee safety. After 2 hours we placed them in for screening, they told us both cats were hissing when they were picked up and may not be eligible for boarding. An hour later they called us saying that their hissing didn't get better and we had to pick them up. They didn't charge us for the screening but calling us before the 4 hour mark seemed like they were not planning to pass both of our cats. Boarding room had cameras where we can check to see how they were doing but the cages itself were small. Overall their check up process is quick and professional but their boarding team needs improvement. read more

PSP recently underwent a "system upgrade" and a change of personnel. I've found they have been opening later than 7am and are poorly staffed, both in the mornings and for evening pick ups. I have had to wait almost everyday for drop offs and for as much as 20-25 minutes at pickup. In addition, one of the main selling points of choosing PSP was the ability to view the Live Webcams which have not operated since the system was "upgraded." This was our first time at PSP. We are looking to become clients for boarding and daycare. My dog was invited to come spend a couple hours playing with the other friends. Hannah at the front desk was super helpful and friendly as was one of the other associates. The facility looked and smelled clean. Nothing bugs me more when you go to a boarding facility and you walk in and get hit with that very distinct smell. On the little tour everything looked clean and organized. The dogs looked like they were having a good time. The little sleeping kennels also looked clean, which was important to me. I like getting the update at the end of the day with pictures. We look forward to returning for some boarding and additional daycare play dates. read more

When my husband and I moved across the street, we were so excited to be near this location because we went to the other location by Diamond Jamboree a couple of times and appreciated how nice the facility was. Unfortunately, we did not have such a positive experience at this location. We first brought our golden doodle, who is about 50 pounds, to board here for our wedding weekend. My husband got a call at the beginning of the weekend saying that our dog injured his paw. We appreciated them telling us because we also assumed that they would take care of the injury, but they did not. Along with his boarding, I also scheduled a grooming to be done on that Sunday, but apparently there were no groomers available and all they could offer him was a bath. I took the offer but when we picked him up, he was limping and he was damp. His paw was raw and bleeding & he could barely walk. If you have a golden doodle, you know how matted up their hair could get if it's not dried and brushed properly. I understand it's time consuming to thoroughly dry a bigger dog but that is their job. It was really disappointing and upsetting, especially since we were so excited to start making this location our go-to. We decided to give them benefit of the doubt and scheduled our dog for a couple of more grooming appointments, but we were disappointed every time. He was not only not thoroughly dried AGAIN, but he wasn't even brushed thoroughly and all of the grooming / haircut requests I had asked for were not done. They would also just completely shave off any tangled hairs instead of attempting to brush them out because our dog had random shaven patches everywhere. Sad to say that we will definitely not be back. Instead of going right across the street, we drive all the way back to Chino Hills to go to his old groomers. I hope others do not have the experience that we had because it is a nice facility and offers convenient services for affordable prices. read more

This is the only place I trust with my dog, who is an Aussie mix and both an escape artist and can be reactive. They not only take great care of him but they're also able to groom him. 5 stars for the staff who are all excellent with the pets. I love the daily updates by text too. read more
