The great thing about Irvine is that kids have so many options when it comes to activities when compared to my home town, Downey (memories of fights breaking out in and around the library). As a result, even though this library is pretty much right next to Irvine High, there are very few young students hanging out at the library even right after school and the place is reasonably quiet. Wifi is reliable today. The only comfortable and quiet place in Irvine where I can escape to and get free Wifi at the same time. Although Jack in the Box and McDonald's have free Wifi now, they are not comfortable. read more

This isn't my favorite FOL bookstore, but you can't complain when almost all the books are $1 or less. Selection varies, of course, but for poor college or high school students, this place gets a ton of textbooks and test prep books all the time. read more

This is a small branch and we visited the kid section more than anything. I often would peruse Pinterest or something to make a list of books to look for which were usually seasonal. Most of those books are always checked out, but the volume of books for the kids to select from is great! My kids are 5 and 3 and we could spend hours in there if our schedule allowed it. The kid section is of course a little more noisy. I would breeze in and out of the adult section with kids in tow, but I frequently found a book that looked good. Not my favorite library in the world, but we really like it. Parking can be a bit tricky on weekends due to sports. read more

I've been to many libraries in my life. This was by far the most dismal and depressing library I've seen. The selection is tiny, the building is dingy and sad, and the staff came across as incredibly rude. They were supposed to close at 9 tonight and almost didn't let me come back in at 8:54 to get my bag because they just wanted everyone out so they could leave by the time they were supposed to be closing. I signed up for yelp just now so I could express my dislike for this place. Never again. read more

My home library, with certainly one of the biggest book selections in OCPL. A much older library if you were to juxtapose this next to the Ladera Ranch, Tustin or Brea library. But never the less, very up to date with their book selection that is seemingly growing. I love this library! They have a huge parking lot, but it can still be a bit tricky parking on the weekends.. Nothing that isn't doable though! This library is very very quiet, except for the jingle and jangle of my keys whenever I walk through there. The library, consistent with other OCPL's, has slow internet.. They do not have a tremendous number of computers, but I would not advise someone who needs the world wide web to come to any public libraries in orange county. Anywho, this library has a HUGE selection, and if you're on a book hunt, do check this library out! It's awesome! They have probably the most impressive collection of reference books that I've ever seen. Great for some quality research. I don't know what it means to be a "regional library," but I gather that it has to do with a lot of foot traffic, being a little ghetto (by Irvine standards), and offering books. I would seriously have to shout "SHHH, this is a library" in order to be heard, but then that would defy my motion for silence. Quiet, please. Can we get some quiet around here for once? I've been going to this place since I was in 1st grade. As a kid this place seems perfect, because I was always able to find the book i wanted to read. But the more I tried to used it for high school, the harder I found it was to find proper books for research. Every time I've used the book searching system I became frustrated because it just has never worked for me. But I do like the used bookstore. So this isn't the best library, but it is alright for a neighborhood library. read more

Great Studying spot! It does get a little noisy around 3pm when all the kids get out from school but they have a few spots in the back where it is secluded. There are plenty of tables and a couple areas near plugs. On weekdays, the tables clear out a little by 5pm. Great local spot! read more

Try the using the online OCPL catalog to find last year's bestseller, then place it on hold for $0.25 and pick it up at Heritage Park.

Nice library with a pretty large collection and quite a few computers. It can get fairly loud here though so sit in the back.

This library is nice. Wide array of books and media. The park right outside is nice and the whole center offers many resources. The problem with this library is that it's very loud. The staff members talk loudly. People in the library tend to talk loud. When I come here to study I cannot get anything done because of the noise distracting me. The computers are old and cannot open many websites. They are very limited. However the wifi is decent. read more

Bring headphones if you plan to study here. This place is filled with school kids 7 days a week making a lot of noise. That being said, at least it is not a depressing homeless encampment that many libraries have become these days. Yes, its a bit old but for the most part "clean". Wifi can be a bit sketchy and outlets are limited. Those are my only 2 real complaints. If you are not worry about outlets, there has always enough seatings. There are enough parking even when there are events being held at the park or school. read more

I think I've been spoiled by libraries because when I walked into this one I wasn't impressed. This library is a decent size, but I was going specifically for children's book. They only had two small rows of books. If the books they did have were great it wouldn't be so bad but almost every book I searched for (under just a simple key word of Apple) where either checked out, in other libraries, or just didn't exist. I found all the books I was looking for in the Orange Public Library with no problems. read more

I just visited the Irvine Heritage Park Regional Library this afternoon and I was very impressed with the resources available there. The best part of my visit was the magazine selection. They had most of the popular magazines available with a wide range of subjects. Not only does the library have a great selection of books and magazines, the seating was ample as well....just wish they had some couches i could snooze on. i didn't know until later, but there was a nice patio facing the small pond and park. I hope to see it expand. read more

This is a kids museum and without kids I doubt it would be much fun. That said of the many, many excellent science museums I've been two on two continents, this was my favorite. read more

Great location, the staff there very friendly, very understandable if u are late. Great experience at the library.

A tad noisy, but a great place to hang out and sit near the fireplace on a cold afternoon, with their WiFi and my computer.

the library is next to the beautiful park. I especially like the their little book store. People are super friendly there, always have a smile on their face. A friend of my told me they have many children's program. Heard many good things about the toddler story time on Friday morning. Too bad I have to work every Friday. I am seeing all these negative reviews and I feel the need to state that this is a public library, people. It's a small public library that honestly doesn't get enough funding, but still, it's a small public library. Get it? Small. Public. Library. Don't expect there to be Hilton conference rooms. Security is there for disruptive kids who bang things with their skateboards, start fights, and watch porn on the computers, not to police people around who talk louder than a whisper. The computers and books are public property in an underfunded library, so freshness and quality aren't exactly going to be like the Apple store. Much of the work is handled by volunteer staff who don't have a bunch of cash to buy new books to replace the old ones. If you honestly want to see a change in library amenities to make them more fancy, talk to the Irvine city government so this place can get a raise in funding. As of right now, the city of Irvine wastes a ton of money on buying cops the newest sexiest car or BMW motorcycle and on drilling holes in the street for no reason. Get them to put more wasted money into the library and things will surely be upgraded. As for now, it is still the same small public library that barely has the money to keep itself open for the community and provides free-of-charge computer use, a wide array of multicultural literature, one of the friendliest and most helpful staff teams that I have ever encountered, numerous free-of-charge community programs year-round, and reasonable cleanliness. Don't take it for granted just because it's apparently not fancy enough. Appreciate it for what it is. And for what it is, a small, underfunded public library, it does it on a 5 star level. I feel the need to emphasize small public library because it seems like some people aren't getting it. read more

This is an absolutely awful library. Horrible experience. There's no quiet area. There are no study rooms. There are smokers on the patio. There are little kids everywhere yakking,talking ,making noise running around and playing completely out of control. People are constantly talking on there cell phones . Instead of taking control of the environment and the noise level in the library they offer you earplugs which is ridiculous , snarky and downright if you think about it. And worst of all 15 minutes before they close and start playing music on the overhead system so even though you needed that 15 extra minutes to study it's not going to happen.In short don't waste your time going here. the Newport Beach library is 1000 times better. read more

this is my go-to library and it serves me well enough when i want to do some reading. i usually dont browse the racks here or anything like that...most of the time i pick-up holds that are coming in from diff OC libraries. ive found that their selection of books at the Heritage Park location isnt the most extensive, but i love the OC public library system where they can ship books to any location for pick-up (for a .25 cent charge). this library is def on the older side and am actually kinda surprised that it hasnt been renovated since it seems like every other strip mall in town gets a facelift every few years or so haha. anywho, librarians are helpful, never have to wait in long too long to get my holds, and love using the self-service machines upon check-out. read more

Use to like coming to the book store but the old man who RUNS it had become an ogre. Been in charge way to long. No more fun shopping there. I really feel sorry for the volunteers. I have been going to this library a short time, but the women at the counter are so rude and unfriendly. They never smile or say hello, just look like they would love to be some where else. I have can't understand why they stay at a job they hate. I guess it is because for women who have no education and can barely understand english it is an easy job. They should not take their unhappiness out on the people who love to read. Plus the bathrooms are nasty and dirty. They should try cleaning them once and a while. read more

I spend a lot of time at this library and I love how it is right next to my school but I do wish it was a bit quieter and bigger. It gets crowded a lot and tables get filled easily. It should also be renovated, since it is pretty rundown. The bookstore next to it is awesome though, because it really does have hidden gems if you look for them. read more
