Mike is a rockstar! Minivan was having issues last Saturday on our way to disco bay. Other area shops said they couldn't even look at it until Monday. Rented a car at Enterprise who suggested heading to Mike's, interrupted him mid-repair on another vehicle and with a smile he happily dove into checking what was up. Thinking the repair might need manufacturer assistance he suggested leaving the car and he'd figure it all out. So we split with our rental, and got a call from him 2 hours later indicating that he'd isolated the problem, made the repair, and was going to leave our keys hidden for us to pick it up on our way home-all without having my CC on file! The place was easy to find, right off of Grimmer Blvd, and I was in and out in 10 mins. Paid cash but they also can do credit card. Good price and good guys. Easy 5 stars. I have had an awesome experience with Irvington Auto Center. I do have a few complaints, but Mike will honestly jump through hoops to do the job right and keep costs down. My check engine light was on and I needed a smog so I had to clear up what was going on. I thought any issues would be minor since Mike had looked it over in the past and said it would be fine to wait on any necessary repairs. It turned out in the end that I needed multiple things fixed. He kept it for a long time but didn't charge me an outrageous amount or try to pretend he'd been working on it the whole time. When it needed a second problem solved to pass the smog test, he scoured used parts dealers to try to find me a cheaper option. He really did stellar work and I'm very happy with the outcome and the cost. I have to warn you though, he tends to keep cars for longer than needed and wildly miscalculates the time necessary to finish a job. Often you have to call him and bug him because he doesn't always call you right when it's done. As mentioned in an earlier review, if your car needs test driving, it will be used to run errands. I too found some stuff of theirs in my car. I mean, it wasn't a big deal to me, and I only noticed later, but I do have to knock off one star for how unprofessionally they seem to run their business. That being said I do recommend Mike all the way, but don't be in a hurry with this guy. read more

My family been taking my cars to Mike and his father for 20 years plus. He always does a wonderful job with great and fair prices. After he is done with my cars they run so smooth. I have a 93' Acura Integra with over 200k miles that they have been maintaining since 94 which still runs smoothly today. I recently brought my Lexus Is300 2001 to get my power steering, automatic transmission fluid, and brakes pads changed. My car runs better than the day I bought it, it feels so nice. The Lexus dealership was going to charge me more than double what Irvington auto charged me. Finding an honest mechanic is almost impossible, good thing I have one. read more

This is probably the best experience I've had with an auto shop, they are so ethical and affordable. I used to bring my car here to Irvington Auto Center and many times I was charged a lot less than I expected and they try their best to accommodate you even on short notice. The owner remembers all of their customers and their cars! I have been to a lot of other mechanics and always feel swindled because I am female and ignorant about the mechanics of cars, but here they are always fair and honest. We had recently purchased a Subaru for my son, and the A/C had a leak in it. I called Mike at IAC on the recommendation of the private auto dealer that we had purchased the car from. Mike was able to fix the A/C leak for 1/3 the price the Subaru dealer had quoted us!!! I had an appointment to be there at 9am, and was told it would be done by noon. Got there at 9:05am, and Mike called at 11am letting me know that the work was completed. Super nice guy, very professional and humble. Horrible!!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. So I took my mom's car a few weeks back for a speed sensor. At first it seemed legit and honest, when we requested and E.T.A. they said a week and it actually took 2 weeks. We know when fixing an automobile some stuff might come up and we were aware of that so we didn't think much of it. The real issue came when we picked up the car. A month later after dropping it off my mom and I go to the shop only to find out it had been HIT and racked up about 5,000 MILES, there was stuff all over the inside of the car like if they used it as a company car!!!! While we were in shock I asked one of the guys why were there stuff in our car and bluntly he said "we used it to pick up car parts and stuff". So while my mom couldn't believe what had happen to her car, I go through it thoroughly and there also was a stack of folded boxes in the trunk and the cover of the spare tire was altered with. This is the bad part.... While I left the trunk open to look in it, an employee (the same guy I asked about the stuff in the car) reaches inside the trunk and PULLS OUT 3 BOTTLES OF REMY MARTIN hidden inside the trunk!!!!! I was furious. Who does that? Who uses a customer car for personal use and specially to carry any alcoholic beverages?. When we confronted the people in there they didn't know what to do, they kept blaming each other and saying they didn't drove the car. This is not how you run a business, horrible service and completely felt taken advantage of. People save your worries and go somewhere else it's not worth it trust me. please feel free to ask me any questions about this. again, most horrible service we've experience ever. read more
