On May 21, I brought my 2018 Volvo to Irwin Chevrolet for an oil change and four-wheel alignment. I requested that the tire pressure not be adjusted. I have my own calibrated air pump; I check my tire pressure periodically and whenever there is a significant temperature change. Every time I do this, I go into the "My Volvo" feature and have the system recalibrate the tire pressure. Vovo recommends 38 psi for my car; I always run 40 psi for a firmer ride, so that's the pressure I set the calibration to recognize. After being serviced by Irwin Chevrolet, a dashboard caution came on indicating dangerously low tire pressure. A check of the tire pressures revealed that the Irwin Chevrolet shop, despite my request not to adjust the pressure, had reduced it to 38 psi, triggering the caution. Irwin Chevrolet also performed a rotation and charged for it, although I had not requested one. When I complained, I was told that including these services and the associated charges was General Motors policy. In the past, I have had my Volvo (and two earlier Volvos and two Volkswagens) serviced at what is now NUCAR in Tilton. At NUCAR, my requests were always honored. I see no reason to patronize IRWIN CHEVROLET in the future if its employees are unable to honor customer requests. read more

I purchased a 2025 Chevy Trailblazer yesterday from Irwin Chevrolet. From the moment I walked in the door for a text drive, the experience was smooth. I knew exactly what I wanted before I got there. Nicole Brown met with me and handed me the key. The car has everything I needed and more. Pricing was fair and I was ready to buy. Nicole was so unlike any car dealership salesperson I've met. She was very personable and good natured. She explained the process of purchasing the car from start to finish. Nicole sat in the car with me and helped me set everything up once the deal was done. She was detailed in the amazing things the Trailblazer could do. Then I met with Alex, the finance manager. Talk about no pressure. Of course, he asked me if I wanted an extended policy (that's his job), when I told him I wasn't interested, he moved on to signing the paperwork so I could take my new car and go. It took all of 10 minutes from start to completion. He made the process smooth and unintimidating. Alex was one of the most professional and friendly finance people I've ever dealt with. I have been extremely disappointed with service provided by Irwin Chevrolet since day 1 of purchasing my Silverado. When I bought the truck it was perfect. Except there was no standard brake controller with it (dumb!) I needed one to haul. So sales brought me over to service and they qouted me $350 to install one, which seemed like a very high price but I accept the price and approved the work. After that service was completed they handed me a bill for $385! Which is higher . When I got to the truck it was covered in water spots like someone washed the truck and never rinsed off the soapy water. I've tried to remove them with no success . Then when I go to use the it the thing is all kinds of stupid with lights and doesn't work very well! A brake controller should be very simple, more power to brakes or less! Not a bunch of stupid lights that makes no sense! The switch also fell out of the dashboard. Whatever fine but where off to a very bad start already. Then I had to come back 2 weeks later to get an inspection sticker. The service writer was nice at first and offered to wash the truck I was excited for them to get the water spots off that are still everywhere! When the service writer handed me the paper work back he was extremely rude and insulting. He said I must be going on a vacation. I was very confused ? I hadn't had a vacation in 15 years and said that there was stuff in the back of the truck so they didn't wash it? I had a chainsaw in a case with a rake and a shovel! All they had to do was close the tonto cover and wash it. I was very unimpressed and upset by the treatment I received. About a year and a half goes by and I scheduled a servicing of my Silverado with a bunch of items I wanted addressed. -oil change -tire swap with patch repair -check speakers -fix broken license plate holder discovered after delivery (courtesy) -fix broken gas cap (warrenty) -fix wind visor (warranty) -reprogram tire sensors -check brake sensors (warranty) -remove and replace customer supplied driver side broken mirror. The only items that were on the work order was the oil change and mirror repair. They did fix the tire sensors. They also explained about the brake sensors problem to me. The rest was ignored . Also they put on the work order a courtesy wash was performed on the truck that never happened, AGAIN. I did forget my tires though so I figured I'd give service another chance to address my service requests. When I purchased the truck the finance guy sold me an extented warranty that covered the entire truck! Seems like a waste of money to me at this point. When I brought them back the vehicle they lost all my requests. I resubmitted all my service requests. The technician noted a dirty cabin filter, so I approved the replacement of that recommended service. -tires were swapped no patch repair done - license plate holder still broken no mention in work order. Refused to fix it. -no mention of speakers check. -no mention and failed to qoute for gas cap repair. Wasn't under warranty either. Service writer offered to qoute repair and get back to me (never did). - wind visor not under warranty either, no attempt made or offered to repair. I paid my bill they did my tires and cabin filter nothing else on the work order. No wash either . As a former service writer that achieved the highest customer service rating of all dealerships in the world ! I never once ignored a service request EVER! It goes on the work order and it's addressed to the best of my abilities. Everything is explained and in writing. If service can't perform a repair under warranty then at a minimum a qoute should be provided to a customer. Ultimately I feel Irwin Chevrolet is just about pumping vehicles out and doesn't care about customer satisfaction at all. I recently purchaced a used Chevy Colorado at another dealership (not Chevy) and instantly noticed a shudder in the driveline. Being a 2017 with only 5,000 miles on the odometer, I did some research and saw it was a pretty common complaint among owners of vehicles equipped with the 8 speed transmission. I called Cantin, since they are local to me and made an appointment. I had read horror stories online from other Colorado owners about how they were brushed off by their dealerships, told the shudder was "normal" etc, despite a clear TSB being published by GM on how to resolve the issue. I crossed my fingers hoping it would be resolved with a minimum of headaches. I dropped the truck off on a Tuesday evening and was given the use of a brand spankin' new 2019 Silverado as a loaner. The following afternoon around 1:30, Cantin called me and said "Your truck is ready!" I asked what they found and they explained they were familiar with the issue, had performed the TSB and all was well. So far, the truck is driving beautifully and I am extremely happy with the experience. Even though I didn't buy the truck from them and had never been a customer, they treated me very well and completed the work under warranty with absolutely no hassle, and they even washed the truck....totally unexpected. I searched the problem I had with a 2018 Silverado and determined the micro switch on the hood latch had failed. I called and made an appointment to have the hood latched replaced. while on the phone I asked to speak with someone in service, I wanted to make sure they had the part and also find out how much it was going to cost. Someone in service told me the part would be $130 and an additional $100 to install it. I thought the coat was a little high but decided to keep the appointment. While waiting for the truck I was informed I did, in fact, need a hood latch and the cost was going to be $306.xx. I inquired how much the latch was and was told $61.xx. I declined the installation, bought the latch and installed it myself in 20 minutes. I was at the dealership for just over an hour, it cost $206, $145 to confirm that the latch was bad ( seems to be a frequent GM problem) and get the complimentary car wash. This was my first and last visit to Cantin Chevrolet. read more

I've been taking my truck to Cantin for years because they stood behind their work and product, I thought. I recently had my airbag replaced because of a recall when I brought it in to get a new transmission. If you love your truck as much as I love mine you know when something is wrong with it by a sound or how it feels. Ever since I picked up my truck after they worked on it I noticed a rattle on the dash and after inspecting it one of the clips had broken right behind the airbag that they replaced. I brought the truck back to get fixed and I was told they didn't do it. I felt insulted and that they thought I was trying to get something for free. You would think after giving them tens of thousands of dollars over the years they would treat me better. I will be bringing my business elsewhere for now on. read more

Car buyers should know about the bad experience I suffered recently when I tried to buy a car from Cantin. I asked to look at a certain Chevy Equinox that was listed for a certain price online. When I looked at the sticker price it was higher. I opened my notebook where I had written down the online price and the salesman, Randy, agreed that the online price was correct. I test drove the car then went inside the office to buy it. Randy came back with the higher price. I told him he told me it was the online price. His response: "That's the price for the OTHER Chevy Equinox across the street." He didn't say that when I first looked at the car. I told him he switched the price. Instead of intelligently problem solving to make the customer happy, he dug his heels in and insited he was right. (Psst ... Randy ... "the customer is always right.") He refused to budge and as a consequence he lost a sale and a good customer. Looking around the empty showroom and the skimpy inventory on the mostly empty lot, I would say they need more good customers. But more importantly, they need honest salesmen. read more

I had to bring my 2014 Silverado in for a minor recall, kind of a pain but whatever. I made the 40 minute drive to Cantin for my appointment and noticed that the TPS right front was reading low pressure. I figured I would deal with it later and did not mention it to the service rep when I dropped the truck off. The truck was ready for me ahead of schedule and when I got in it to head home the TPS warning had been cleared. I saw on the invoice that the tech had noticed it, pumped up the tire and reset the monitor. Probably took him 5 mins but it made my day just that much easier. First of all quite impressed with Jeremy Onos' Customer service. Between himself and Henry in service, who is no longer there, they took very good care of me. They had serviced my 2015 Equinox that I just traded in for a 2018 lease. I really dislike the car; hate it actually. Tom Cantin did not follow up with me and I had to contact Foster repeatedly to get help. Not Jeremy's fault; he's great. Very unhappy with vehicle as I feel unsafe. Does not hold up on the highway, alignment off, lights too dim, condensation on rear passenger window and drives like a tin can... LS is not the same as the LT Foster; sorry. I've always loved my vehicles until 3 weeks ago. I'm so disappointed and will have to call GM to discuss with them. I was told I basically have to deal with it as it's a lease and my "mistake" would have to fall on someone's shoulders. read more

Shopping for a new 4wd and was looking to trade in our 2006 F250. Wasn't sure if we wanted another Ford but the decision was made easier when the local ford dealer said that you can't put a plow on a F250 Crew Cab. So I went to Cantins and talked to Jeremy Onos and told him what I was looking for, he said no problem, we can put a plow on a Chevy 2500 HD, however I didn't see the right truck for me on there car lot. Not sure what I really wanted to do, I found myself looking at other trucks in the southern part of the state and almost drove home with a truck at one of the dealers. Me being self employed in the Lakes Region, I wanted to keep it local and give Cantins a shot at what I was looking at from the other dealer. Not only did Cantins find me the truck but they also matched the price. Oh and before I purchased my new Chevy I found out that a plow could be put on the Fords F250 Crew but the local dealer didn't have any on the lot, just the extended cab. Honestly, I wish I could give zero stars. I have never been to a dealership that flat out told me "We can't work with you on price", until I went to Cantin. I should have walked away right then. I was just looked at, and treated as a young stupid girl who didn't know anything because I didn't have a man by my side. The horrible service didn't stop there. I was pressured into buying a bumper to bumper warranty which only lasted until 75000 miles when my manufacturer warranty lasted until 80000, and I have full coverage insurance, so they literally just took advantage. I called in January 2018 to have it taken off when I realized how useless the coverage was. It never got taken off and my loan still shows it on there. After one year of owning the vehicle, my check engine light comes on, no big deal right? it's probably something minor. WRONG, a 4 year old car with only 40000 miles on it is completely ruined because there's metal shavings all through the oil. Two solenoid sensors had to be replaced (covered in metal shavings) which would have cost 600 out of pocket and still wouldn't fix the issue unless everything in the drive train was completely replaced. Luckily Chevrolet took care of it at no cost to me BECAUSE OF MY WARRANTY THAT CAME WITH THE VEHICLE. Although I have since moved, I still wouldn't have taken it to the service department because I have NEVER heard or read one good thing about it. Now that I have to trade in my 4 year old piece of crap... they are FINALLY taking off the warranty I asked them to 9 months ago (by the way, I spoke to 4 different people at the dealership with no call back until I lost it on a sales manager). Over all, the dealership is unethical, unreliable and uneducated. OH and I'm not the only one that feels like they were screwed over just because they're a woman. I really was so hopeful about my experience with them but they've given me every reason in the book to never go back (even if I did still live in the area). read more

We recently purchased our Chevy Camaro from here. We worked with Foster and Carl and they made the whole car buying process so easy it felt like I was picking up some grocery or cloth. I hate when dealer advertise really low non realistic numbers just to get customer to the door, once at the store the dealer tells you different price. Because of this I was refusing to drive to dealer and waste my time if we did not agree on the sales price. None of the dealer that had the car I wanted in Massachusetts would negotiate price over the phone. All of them would tell me to come look at the car, test drive it see if you like the car, again just trying to get customer to the door. I already knew what I wanted and there was no need to see or test drive anything. After I ran out of dealers in Mass I decided to try NH. I made list of few dealers in NH who had the car I liked. First in the list was Cantin. I called them and we discussed the price, we agreed on price and I drove down there and singed all the paperworks. I refused to take 2 mins worthless drives but this 4 hours drive during snow storm was worth while. Since I lived far, Foster offered to deliver the car to my house saving me 4 hours of drive. Foster and Carl were very welcoming, friendly, helpful and explanatory both had great sense of customer service. No wonder your dealer has almost 5 star review, this is very unusual to see with car dealers. You guys know how to provide best customer experience. Do not buy anything from this dealership. I bought my first truck from Cantin in 2005. Got a great trade in, price and service. I decided to go back to Cantin to buy my next new vehicle. The Sales Manager said my truck had over 200,000 miles on it. I was in shock - the last time I check it only had 120,000. This meant the trade in value would be cut in half. After test driving a new truck that I loved I told the salesman I needed to think about it. About a week later I noticed instead of miles I was seeing kilometers. I went thru the settings and put it back to English because it had been changed to French. This week I went to look at a Dodge and on the way I checked my milage and I only have 136,000 miles! I went online and converted 136,000 miles to kilometers and it equaled 218,000! The Sales Manager changed my settings to try and trick me. I called the salesman and left a message and I still have not heard back. I'll never have a good thing to say about Cantin again! Buyer beware and always double check.
