I appreciate the care taken to fix a recall (free). However, it became obvious after completion that the service center wanted to make money. I was told that I was driving a dangerous vehicle. I was told that if the service rep was my son, that she wouldn't let me drive in this vehicle. I was terrified to drive my car. I then had everything checked that was listed on the printout. long story short, never try to instill fear in an older person to make money and never degrade a family member to make money. my car was fine. Price gougers with BS games. Listed a 2019 car for so much money that they attempted to tell me I need to put down 4.5k for the bank to approve a finance....with over 765 credit LOL. They attempted to BS me to say its because of equity I'd be rolling in...which was 2.5k...which actually means nothing because I had already said I'd be putting down 2k negating any real negative equity rolled in regardless. So in reality....they priced a car so high that the bank doesn't value the car at their price AT ALL thus needing to put down almost 5k for the financed value to actually match what the car is worth. AL N FANTASTIC!: FROM The moment i leased my very first CX-9, I have been treated like a family member from Service personnel. As a matter of fact when I returned the car at the end of the lease, they had another car reserved for me at the Dealership matching my parameters and a lower cost per month. How smooth a transition! Talk about being treated as family! Later on I misplaced the title to the car. I called to ask for a replacement title for the car. I was told by the owner that she would replace the title free of charge. I wonder how many dealerships would do the same! read more

Purchased a Lincoln Nautilus from and Irwin Lincoln in Freehold NJ and have totally regretted my actions. The car has slightly over 20, 000 miles and has had 2 major transmission failures. The main problem lies with the deception of service advertisements and the lack of customer service. Why would any customer purchase a second car from this dealership. Nick, one of the managers, shows zero concern as to issues that a customer faces. His attitude is that once you buy the car you are pretty much on your own. The dealership has the customers dealing with towing, loaner car, rental car, etc. The services listed on the brochures/ advertisements are not really customer friendly, just a gimmick to sell a car. Do yourself a huge favor and chose another dealer. Example: Dealer advertises that they have a loaner car when issues arise. They don't tell you that the loaner car has to be reserved one to six months out. Honestly, when does anyone foresee a car breakdown one to six months out? read more

I went to Irwin Mazda to lease a Mazda3 hatchback. There was no one in the lobby when I arrived around 2pm that day. After going out of my way to find the only person there, the salesman gives me a fixed monthly payments on a paper he made up in the back room before I even arrived. No down payment, no credit check, just a payment option for $375 a month with 4000 down on a Mazda3. I went straight to Toyota down the street and got a Corolla. I have never felt this bad about a dealership. read more

Wish I could leave no stars !!! Walked into this dealership at 12:30pm today and there was absolutely no one there to greet us or ask what they could help us with. We waited about 5 minutes and still no one, I saw a man in a private office, figuring he was a manager and asked "Does anyone here want to sell a car today" He said all the salespeople were busy and someone would help us in a couple of minutes. Well after 30 minutes of sitting there and no acknowledgment from anyone, we got up and started to walk out and that's when the only salesman stopped us and said I will be with you when I am finished with this customer. I said too late and have a nice day. If I am the sales manager, I would be out on the sales floor myself trying to make a sale. How do they stay in business ??? read more

I made the mistake of visiting Irwin Mazda today. I'm a current Mazda owner for the past 11 years and I absolutely love my car. This review is based off of the experience I had in Irwin Mazda. I arrived today (without an appointment) and was in the lobby about 5-10 minutes before the salesmen even noticed I was there. I was finally greeted by a sales person, Michael. He was rude from our first interaction. Not to mention he wasn't wearing a mask and asked me to wait while he got one. When we sat down, I asked for pricing on leasing the cx-5 since I've already met with other dealers and I'm certain on the car I want. I also asked about getting an appraisal on my current Mazda. He refused to give me any numbers or pricing and asked me what I wanted to pay. I told him I went to another Mazda dealership and Nissan across the street and what they were offering me. He laughed in my face and told me I was lying. I showed him my paperwork from Nissan and pulled up Mazda ads for the cx-5 online for $169 and $199 leases, (all with lower pricing than I stated) and again he laughed and raised his voice, "Go! go back to whoever told you that and good luck" As for my appraisal, I asked if he can give me a rough range on what to expect. I had the car fax report printed (as I just came from another dealer) and handed it to him. He said "you want me to give you an estimate without seeing your car? Good luck!" He covered his watch and said "how much will you pay me for this watch?" laughing. "Go back to that other dealer." I said thank you for making my decision easy and got up and left. Needless to say that was the least amount of time I've ever spent in a car dealership. He didn't even try to sell me anything. The worst sales person I've ever encountered. Bottom line, take your business elsewhere and fire Michael immediately. If you are looking for a Mazda, Schwartz Mazda was amazing and I wish I never wasted my time in Irwin. read more

After the used car manager spoke ill of me on a 3-way call with corporate and I updated my review with a comment about how they kept grilling me for money without ever invoicing me (all requests were by phone and only on calls that I initiated myself), they MAGICALLY decided to finally invoice me. So now almost 3 months after buying the car, I have this wonderful phantom bill. There was never ANY urgency WHATSOEVER throughout this entire ordeal, until they realized that the taxes were more than they predicted. Then all of a sudden, they had all the urgency in the world in trying to collect from me. Forget all of the calls that I made and had someone promise that I'd get a call back or that they'd follow up on something, which went unfulfilled... NO. The only reason they care about me now is because they want to collect outstanding taxes for which I wasn't properly notified until well after the fact. What's worse is despite the failures on their end and after all of this time, they still have the nerve to have this figure padded with dealership-specific fees. Still not an ounce of accountability over there. Remember when I said it's okay to shop here if you're local? Yeah, don't even bother with that, either. If I could give this place negative stars, I'd have given them one for every day of our time that they wasted. read more

The only person who could accept the leased car is the finance manager who was not there. I was told he's the only one who can do the computer work. Who ever heard of that. Worse public relations I've ever saw at a dealership. Went from there directly to Hamilton Mazda. It was a difference of night and day. Couldn't have been more helpful. Visited this dealership with my 2 high school aged sons. Walked around the dealership looking at the cars. A salesman with a Russian accent asked what I was looking for and I explained that my lease is coming up in 30 days and was looking at what they've got. He then dropped us as a customer since obviously, I would not be signing that day. As we walked thru the dealership my 17 year old said that he liked the Miada that they had on the sales floor. Just as he was about to touch the door, the salesman yelled at my son "don't touch that car! That isn't for you!" I said is there a problem? He said he wanted to sell the car to someone else in a very rude tone. Sorry Irwin, you've lost my business and all of my friends and family's as well! Before visiting Irwin Mazda recently, I spoke to Wayne by phone twice. I mentioned I live in NY, have a Mazda, and the new vehicle would be registered in NJ. He agreed to a lease deal that was just good enough to justify the inconvenience of driving to Freehold. Since Wayne was busy when I arrived, I test drove vehicle, etc. with Salesman B, who also handled the various forms. Wayne finally appeared, to announce that he could not deliver the deal because it included a $750 Loyalty Bonus, which was unavailable because I live in NY and the vehicle would be registered in NJ (facts I had told him by phone). He grudgingly admitted he had "made a mistake", and that he hadn't told me the deal hinged on a Loyalty Bonus. But he still would not deliver the lease payment he had promised. He failed to compromise even after I pointed-out that removing the bonus made his deal worse than elsewhere. Wayne remained mute when I noted the classiness of breaking his word over a few dollars, after wasting hours of my time. I strongly advise that you avoid these clowns at Irwin Mazda...take your business to a competent dealer that puts some value on keeping its word. read more

I was driving on Route 9 in Freehold yesterday as I tried hooking up my ipod to my CX-5. As I passed Irwin Mazda and although I leased my vehiche at Open Roads in East Brunswick (A CLASS ACT) I decided to stop at Irwin with a question about hooking my ipod to the stereo. As I came into Irwin Showroom I was greeted by "Larry", a VERY respectful, kind and helpful person, who I believe is the the kind of salesman you would like to work with, there for you, sale or no sale.... Knowing I purchased elsewhere, the logo on my 2017 SUV states "Open Road" Larry was more than happy to help me...HOWEVER, his manager, "CARLOS", came out of nowhere and did nothing but insult and rank me out, without knowing or ever having met me, ... just for not purchasing my vehicle from him. WHAT A RUDE, ARROGANT MAN...IRWIN MAZDA can do better than having this man manage anything, no matter what, no way to do business.... Make an appointment for recalls. Very professional meet, greet and vehicle sign in. Took 2.5 hours for repair. Was not informed of length of time repair when I made the appointment or I would have gotten a ride home and not waited. On inspection, a nail was detected in a tire so they said the pressure sensor could not be tested. (a tire repair was $35, I left and had it "good tire" on an test it but they didn't. Also they noticed the oil pan was leaking as well as a crank shaft seal but I was not asked or given a quote on having these repaired. I only go there to have recalls taken care of, everything else is done elsewhere. read more

TERRIBLE customer service- am looking to buy a crossover SUV and had narrowed it down to the Hyundai Tuscon and the Mazda CX5. I had test driven the Mazda CX 5 at another Mazda dealership, but I wanted to take a second look at it and decided to stop at the one in Freehold since it is right across the street from Hyundai. After explaining the situation, I could not believe how rude the salesperson was. He asked me if I would be buying the Mazda CX 5 from him or the other dealer. I explained that I didn't even know which car I wanted, let alone from which dealer. He accused me of wanting him to do all the work and then I would simply go back to the other Mazda. He had a terrible attitude and was so incredibly rude. I will certainly NOT be buying the car from this dealer. read more

I'll tell you about my experience. I was picky about the car I wanted and finally found one at this dealership. It was about a three hour drive so I found out as much as I could with online photos and phone conversations. One of the questions I asked via phone was the condition of the car. The salesman said, and I quote, "The car is 100%. It's 100%." I interpret 100% as 'flawless,' or at least the nicest condition you can find in a used car. While negotiating price they were extremely hesitant to come down at all. One of his reasons were (paraphrased), "This is a certified preowned Mazda. It has a longer warranty than new Mazdas. It also has brand new tires and brakes, so we can't move on price." That seemed somewhat reasonable so I made the trip down. As I approached the car with the salesman with whom I spoke with on the phone, I notice a four foot long scratch down the side of the car. It's the first thing I noticed from 10 feet away. I immediately address it. I said, "Now the first thing I see here is a big long scratch. You told me the car was 100%." He replies, "Well it's a used car. You're not going to find a used car in perfect shape." My personal opinion is that if you won't find a used car in perfect shape, don't say "100%." If it's not perfect, don't say 100%. So now that we're off on the wrong foot I began looking over the car more and sitting in it, etc. Later, as we're walking about the car, my brother says, "Did you say that this has new tires?" I see that the car has the original Goodyears (with 18,500 miles). I call the salesman back to the car and said, "These tires and brakes aren't new. You told me this car has new tires and new brakes and that's why you can't drop on the price." He responds, "Mazda inspects the tires and brakes and they determined that there is plenty of life left in this. It went through a thorough inspection." I then said, "But that is not what you told me on the phone. You said 'Brand New'." He just goes on about how it's thoroughly checked and Mazda determined there was enough life left. Again, not addressing the fact that he lied to me on the phone. I was talking to a brick wall. I'm not even going to get into the wait and the frustration that went with that. After test driving the car I found it needed an alignment. After they aligned it I waited around for another hour and a half before we could even discuss pricing and financing. They were too busy (or under staffed, or negligent) and I had to wait in line. Not worth it. read more

I visited another Mazda Dealership on a Saturday morning and was basically brushed off by the sales person. I called Irwin Mazda that afternoon and spoke with Gwen Gainfort in sales. I met her that afternoon and drove off the lot in my new car later that afternoon. Gwen went above and beyond to get everything done, she never pressured me and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. I also met with Charlie Marquez in their Finance Department. He explained everything in detail and had me approved with a great rate, all my paperwork signed, sealed and delivered within an hour. The entire process was smooth and very enjoyable. read more

Went to Irwin because I lived near by was interested in Mazda 3 because it was redesigned and got great reviews. Walked in lot found a brand new one I liked with a Salesman. We went and sat down and he wanted to know what I wanted for trade in. I told him I wasn't sure and to let me know what price they were thinking. He became frustrated and would not give me a price for my current car I wanted to trade in. He then became sarcastic and started with word games to get info out of me. I was baffled at this point and knew it was not dealer for me. He gets his manager to come over. The manager was immediately angry for some reason. Told me I don't know what I am talking about and I need to do more research. This made me laugh because I am extremely knowledgable on how to buy a car and what I want. Then the manager got very animated with his anger and it was kinda funny. I basically asked him if he was alright and was sarcastic myself and left. I bought a 2014 honda accord a few hours later at dealer down the highway. The place was horrible. People were all sarcastic and angry for some reason. It was strange and awkward from get go. Never go here. Experience was worst I ever had at any car dealer. Not sure how they are in business treating people in this manner. read more
