FOLLOW UP EDIT: When I got a tire patched Dec 1, the mechanics showed me that the tires were dangerously worn down; bad enough that I was advised to replace at least 2 within a month and the other 2 within a month after. I personally saw the wear and took pictures, so this was not a sales pitch by the mechanic. I bought Certified Pre-Owned: so it passed the over 100 item checklist to pass Hyundai standards. It had less than 25K miles and I've driven it only 3K miles in the year I've had it. They had to have been badly worn already because there's no way to go from 25K "normal wear" to dangerously worn 3K miles later. All 5 of the mechanics on staff agreed. These tires should not have passed CPO standards. I contacted the dealer. Cara replied and tried to GASLIGHT me. A: Not driving much could cause dry rot. (the problem is WEAR, not dry rot. And I drive every day.) B: Improper tire rotation could cause premature wear (Typical tire rotation is 5K-7K miles, when I get the oil changed. Hadn't come up time yet). C. "Being that the time has been over a year, there's not much we can do." (it's been over a year by ONE DAY. Bought Nov 2024, this happened Dec 1 2025). I responded with FACTS, and said, "not much" is not the same as nothing, so what CAN they do? She stopped answering. I'm beyond disappointed, not to mention offended. I'm almost more aggravated by her trying to gaslight me than the dealer not upholding the CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED standards. I'm downgrading my original 5 star rating to 2.5. ______________________________________________________________ The service and atmosphere at the dealership was stellar from the start. Though I was disconcerted by the AI text response to my website inquiry (without knowing it was AI), the real life salesperson was informative, respectful and accommodating for my disability. Once I got to the dealership, Nikki was a joy to work with. While we waited for my test drive, she used the time to inform me of everything available, how the sales transaction would proceed, and to consult her colleagues about any questions she couldn't answer. She was totally relaxed during the test drive. My interactions with other departments were just as great - smooth and informative. They showed me how easy and stress free buying a car could actually be, in contrast to some other dealerships I'd already walked out on. Also, it was clear that the staff worked well together. It was very busy, but they were able to support each other with information or hands on help; the "vibe" was friendly, respectful and relaxed, though fast paced. Would give them zero stars! I will no longer go to them for any type of service even if that means I have to drive further to go to another dealership. My Hyundai has been consuming a lot of oil and when I called them and spoke to service to explain what was going on, the woman who answered, shame on me for not getting her name, understood exactly what I was talking about. She told me the process is the get an oil change by them as well as replace the pcv valves. I also asked if I had to pay for the work. I was told no, I didn't have to pay. So I schedule and drop off my car. On my way home, the service dept calls to tell me that I have to pay for the oil change and valves. I told her that I was told I was told I didn't have to. She tells me that she will have one of the service managers call me first thing in the morning. My appt was scheduled for 9. I hear nothing by 9:15. I call and was told my message would be given to the manager. Ok fine, 2 hours pass by and no one calls me. I call back because I need to know what is going on and I don't want them to perform work that I am going to have to pay for. Finally a manager calls me back, maybe Nick. He was a jerk and told me I have to pay that they were starting to work on my car, I argued and said I was told I didn't have to pay. Now I don't have a problem paying for a service, but I was told I didn't have to and no one would even tell me what the cost was. I was told about $50 something for an oil change. Hello, it would be nice to know what I'm going to be charged. Their service dept is completely unprofessional. read more

Went to Freehold Hyundai to purchase a new Santa Fe, and trade in my old Santa Fe (which I had also purchased from them back in 2019). The salesman was friendly and knowledgeable, took me on a test ride and showed me the car, no issues with him at all. When we started talking about money, we were a few thousand apart on the deal, which turned out to be a difference between what Carvana had offered me on my car and what Freehold was willing to offer. Apparently, the sales manager didn't believe that Carvana offered me as much as they did, so I showed the salesman the legitimate offer on my phone. He asked if he could show it to the sales manager, and took my phone to the office to do that (yes, shame on me for handing my phone to someone, but it seemed like the only way we would make a deal). About 20 minutes later, he came back and said the best they could come up with was about $2300 less than Carvana offered. I thanked him for his time and left. On my way home, I got a text from the salesman, saying they had looked at Carvana again and came up with a number that was $1000 less than I claimed I was offered, despite the fact that I had showed him their numbers on my phone. When I arrived home, I had an email from Carvana stating that my "new" car valuation had been run during the time I was at the dealership. The sales manager had *RE-RUN MY CAR EVALUATION ON MY PERSONAL CELL PHONE, USING MY CARVANA ACCOUNT*, and my trade value had dropped by $1000, effectively costing me that money on the sale (since I planned to sell it to Carvana at that point and just add the cash to my deal). This is by far, the most shady thing a car dealership has ever pulled on me, not to mention illegal representation using my personal information (using my Carvana account on my phone). I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and would advise anyone to never purchase a car from this dealership. read more

My salesman Casey and Manager Kyle worked with me and in less than 3 hours I walked out in a new 2022 Santa Fe. My husband and I shopped around at local Hyundai dealers (Trenton, South Brunswick, Flemington, etc.) to try and find the best deal for a 2019 Hyundai Sonata Limited. We called Freehold Hyundai and were connected with Brian, who gave us a significantly better price quote for the car than anything we had heard. We were sure his deal was too good to be true, but figured it was worth heading out there to be sure. Brian was not only a man of his word, but he was an absolute pleasure to deal with. In fact, his whole team was incredibly friendly and respectful (shout out to T for showing us how to use every single gadget in our new vehicle!). When we arrived to pick up the car, they had everything ready: the paperwork was ready to be signed (and there were no hidden fees!), a beautiful bow sat atop our car in the lot, and someone was ready to take a picture of us all in front of the car! ALSO, this dealership has a better referral program than any other Hyundai dealership in the area ($200), so be sure to mention whoever referred you there so they get some money. The service at Freehold Hyudai is terrible. My salesman, Brian Showers was honest and easy to deal with. The Genesis is an excellent car - I've had BMWs and Audis, the Genesis is superior. However, the sales department is reliably unreliable. I scheduled a service appointment using their valet service. The driver didn't show up and when called half an hour later, I was told he was leaving their dealership at that time. The service advisor called me later in the day, letting me know that service was completed and told me my car would be delivered at 2:00. That didn't happen. When I called at 2:40, he told me that his driver hadn't come in yet. I had a similar experience (significant wait) when I brought my car in for an earlier service appointment. Schedules matter - I had other things to do. A basic rule of customer service is to honor commitments, to be reliable. Freehold Hyundai service is anything but reliable. The Genesis is a great car. I recommend it. However, I could not recommend this dealership, consider other options. read more
