My first experience with DCH Freehold Toyota was an exceptional experience. When I arrived to a lot, I was able to walk the lot freely, inspecting the lot. I had an appointment to see a used car in their inventory. I arrived 15 minutes early, when I walked through the doors I was greeted and shown to my sales advisor that will be taking care of me. I mentioned the vehicle, I was interested in seeing the sales associate got the keys and a dealer plate and we went for a test drive. The vehicle drove exceptional. We sat back down at the desk and started talking Numbers. They were great and very straightforward we agreed on a number and got the paperwork going. Michael the sales associate was extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and firm in certain aspects of the negotiation which I appreciate. I then turned to the finance department and the finance advisor Tommy, helped me submit my credit application and came back with an approval we closed the deal. Meanwhile, my vehicle was getting detailed and was ready for me five minutes after I signed all the paperwork. This dealership is one I would recommend 1 million times over to anyone looking to buy a New or Used vehicle of any make. These guys provided the best experience possible. We are a Toyota family and had purchased my daughter's RAV4 at DCH Freehold Toyota a few years ago. My 2008 Sequoia was due for replacement so went back and found a great 2022 4Runner Limited. The experience was fantastic- we negotiated a more than fair trade in on my Sequoia and the sale price of my new to me 4Runner was lower than any dealership in the Tri-State area! We had a unique issue in that we wanted to pay cash but couldn't get the cash from our HYSA that day. Their finance department suggested we finance the vehicle and pay it in full before any interest accrued - they quickly completed the finance process and thus we were able to get the 4Runner that day. Couldn't be happier with my new ride and the whole sales experience was stellar - thanks DCH! read more

The dealership overfills oil during an oil change, which is very bad for the engine. The service manager apparently has no influence over these out-of-control technicians. Not draining enough oil from the car can be one of the reasons for overfilling oil in the engine. It's really simple to put the correct amount of oil in a car. For instance, if a car takes 5 quarts of oil, one first fills in 4 quarts of oil, runs the car for 2 minutes, lets the oil settle down and then measures the oil level on the dipstick. This allows a technician to determine the amount of shortfall, if any. I would recommend that the Service Manager meet with each technician individually and explain the above steps to not overfilling oil during an oil change. It is recommended that customers check their oil level in the dealership's parking lot after an oil change. If the oil is overfilled by more than 1/2 quart, then have the dealership correct the issue at their cost the same day. Freehold Toyota needs to lower its service prices to get more business. An hourly rate around $200 is exorbitant when mechanics get paid less than a quarter of that. It is common knowledge that Service Advisors work on a commission based on the amount of the services they sell. The Service Manager needs to coach the Service Advisor to think from the customers' point of view and not suggest the most expensive repair option. A good example of this is with brake service. Resurfacing the rotors is a much cheaper option at Freehold Toyota than purchasing new rotors with brake service and yet the Service Advisors rarely present that option to the customers because the Advisor earns more commission with new rotors. Generally OEM rotors can be resurfaced once or twice and still be above the minimally permissible thickness. Even when the rotors are not damaged or rusted, the Service Advisors do not present the resurfacing option to the customers. If Freehold Toyota doesn't even bother to think about the customers' finances and is looking to maximize its own profit, why should the customers give any business at all to Freehold Toyota? Instead of typing the standard response about contacting the Service Manager by phone, I want him to get to work and change the policies and business model at Freehold Toyota. If he needs to convince the owner not to overcharge the customers who provide their bread and butter, then the Service Manager better schedule a face to face meeting with the owner. read more

My experience today with Jason in the service department was a masterclass in frustration. Toyota came in with a clear list of five items I needed addressed. I submitted an on line offer for a vehicle. Their website had the vehicle listed at $11K. I offered a CASH payment of $9.5K. Within a few minutes, I received an email response from Freehold Toyota. The response stated that my offer is acceptable and I can consider the car to be sold. I immediately called the dealership to confirm that the car was still available. I was told that is was available, but I should go to their showroom as soon as possible as vehicles can be sold in a fast manner. When I arrived, I was directed to Ian Michael Salon. Since my wife and I previously purchased a car through Ian Michael Salon, I felt comfortable with having this purchase completed with his help. I took the car for a test drive. I returned and said I would buy it. When I sat down with Ian Michael Salon, I showed him the email that I received. He then stood up and said that he would be right back. After waiting about 10 to 15 minutes, Nicholas Ventriglio came over and introduced himself as the Sales Manager. He asked me to provide him with the information that I had to support my claim. I then showed him the email that I receives. This email CLEARLY showed that I made a CASH offer and my offer was accepted. This is when he started to trip over his own tingue. At first, Nicholas told me that the price was incorrectly advertised. When I questioned this, he became quite "Snotty" to me. I explained that I submitted a CASH offer and the CASH offer was accepted. At this point, Nicholas stood up and said that he would be right back. About 10 minutes later, he returned and said that there was no record of my on line bid. How is it that I had proof that I made an offer, the offer was accepted by their dealership and then, there was no record of this communication? At this point, I said, "So, you're not going to honor the price that was accepted?" Nicholas responded in a rude manner and said "No". This is when I responded by telling him that my wife and I have purchased numerous cars from Freehold Toyota and we will never give them our business again. When I said this, Nicholas responded in a VERY SNIDE and SNOTTY tone. "Well, I am sorry that you feel this way" was the response that he gave me. I stood up and started to walk out. As I approached the main doors for the dealership, there was a couple who were talking with another sales person. While I could have contained my shock, I told this couple to "Be careful. These guys are "F-ing" con artists". This is when Nicholas stood up and rushed toward me. He told me to leave. Since I was already leaving, I had no reason to go against his wishes. He followed me outside and at one point, physically pushed himself against me. As i walked toward my car, Nicholas followed me and continued to tell me to leave. I was leaving. Why would he act in such an aggressive manner if I was already outside of the dealership and on my way to my car? As I sat down in my car, Nicholas stood by the car door and stared at me. At this point, I rolled the window down and asked if he was just going to stand there and try to stare me down. His reply was a simple, "yes". At this point, I said "F You". I This is when he told me to "Get The F*** Out!". At this point, I stuck my middle finger out to him and said "F*** You". When I did this, Nicholas said "I will rip that F***ing finger off of your hand!". Since I was already on my way out, why would he want to take this to a higher level? This is when he was joined by one of his co-workers. His co-worker also acted in a threatening manner. His EXACT words were, "You Can Suck My Di*k!" I responded by saying, "In Your Dreams". This is when he once again told me to "Suck his D*ck". I responded by saying, "Why? Can't you get your wife to do this?" At this point, this person spit on me. This is when I decided to file a report with the Freehold Township Police Department. I left the dealership, parked my car on the shoulder of Route 9 and waited for the Police to arrive. When they arrived, I followed them into the dealership parking lot. I explained what had happened and as I was doing this, I noticed how Nicholas was standing inside the building and was smiling and waving his hand at me. I can only say that this shows how immature and unprofessional they are at this dealership. After placing a review on dealerrater.com, I received a response from the General Manager. He told me that the dealership did not have the ability to respond to an offer that was submitted through the Kelly Blue Book website. Here again, if this was true, how did I get a response that was clearly from one of their employees? I never once threatened anyone of their employees. However, Nicholas and his Co worker threatened me with physical actions. Had they simply allowed me to leave without giving me a snotty attitude, none of this would have happened. Avoid DCH Freehold Toyota at All Costs - A Nightmare First Car Buying Experience I rarely leave reviews, but my recent experience at DCH Freehold Toyota was so appalling that I felt compelled to share it. This was my first car purchase in the U.S., and the team at this dealership made sure it was the worst experience of my life. If you're reading this and considering buying a vehicle here - please, look elsewhere. They should seriously consider rebranding from DCH to DCU - Delivering Customer Unhappiness. 1. Finance Team Harassment - Especially "Tommy Tu" I have never encountered someone as unprofessional and disrespectful as Tommy Tu from the finance department. From the start, he was rude, dismissive, and acted like he was doing us a favor. He tried to pressure and scare us into signing up for overpriced and unnecessary add-ons, including warranty packages and subscriptions we clearly declined. When we resisted, he deliberately delayed the process by two extra hours, claiming he needed additional down payment proof - even though all paperwork was complete. To make things worse, he ran multiple hard credit inquiries without consent, sabotaging my credit score and ensuring I received a higher APR. His behavior towards my wife was equally disrespectful and uncalled for. This man should not be allowed anywhere near customer-facing roles. 2. Sales Team Lies and Broken Promises Jessica from the sales team made a verbal promise of two free oil changes as part of the deal. However, on the day of vehicle delivery, she flat-out denied ever making that offer - essentially lying to our faces. If your sales process depends on misleading customers to close deals, that says everything about your integrity as a dealership. 3. Hidden Charges Despite Signed Agreement After signing the purchase order and finalizing the payment, we were suddenly asked to pay an additional $100 for DMV title and registration - a cost that was already clearly included in the purchase order. This last-minute upcharge was deceitful and completely unjustified, I had to literally escalate it to get it waived off. Brought our car in for an oil change and was told that the car needed serious work (radiator, spark plugs, brake pads). They would not let us pick up the car until we agreed to some of the repairs. Literally. After we left the lot, the AC stopped working. Which was unusual because it had been working fine when we brought our car in. When we brought the car back in, they claimed that it was old and needed to be replaced - which we knew was untrue because it had been replaced recently! This dealership is not recommended! I been to this dealership like 4 times trying to buy a car. I called this salesman forgot his name he has the highest ratings so I called and emailed him no response so i decided to walk in a a normal weekday to see if I can speak to a sales rep. First Lady came by is Kaplan. She is not worst salesperson no greetings or warm rapport. She is constantly interrupting our talk with incoming phone calls and wasting our time waiting. I have been purchase a couple of cars from dealership over a decade. They have been extremely good at service and sales. But recently, we purchased a car for my brother in law. The car is great but it looks like we were duped in the process of signing fast with ipad system and not the traditional printed paper. The apr rate was different and non disclosure dueing signing of online documents is a pitfall. Yes, i could have been more scrutinize and strict but it seems that this bad practice and duping customers for profit should not be entertained anymore. I stay away from this dealership till there is new management and rectify their process. I do not tolerate an insult to my brother in law when they just want to correct the apr. I only come here if my car reaches a miles traveled milestone to make sure my Highlander is good condition. if coming here for an oil change you really need a coupon special, otherwise you will pay more than you would if you brought it somewhere else. It's convenient that you can schedule online, but I find that you need to do it at least a week in advance if you want morning hours. Otherwise you can use their drop off service or shuttle service which will drive and pick you up within 15 mile radius. The waiting area itself is clean and there is a coffee/espresso machine that is complimentary. Bagels and donuts are also free if available. The service specialists are friendly as is the cashiers. The negatives of this place is the very long wait time and very high cost of services as mentioned. If there is something to be done, I usually take my vehicle elsewhere or tackle the easy things myself. If you are showing up without a coupon, they may be available on their website or you can ask the rep to help you out. read more
