11/10 restaurant, truly! I called a week prior to my birthday asking to make a reservation for 12 on a Saturday at 5:30pm. The hostess was extremely nice and making the res was easy. This restaurant is a few minutes away from The Stand (comedy club) where we needed to be at 7:30. The attentive and fast service made this timing possible. The ambiance and decor were beautiful! We all agreed that the interior was charming. We were seated at a long table with a booth-side and chairs on the other. This was perfect and we fit well. The pasta was not only delicious looking, but even better tasting. You can ask the waiter to make any pasta dish spicy. My rigatoni ala vodka was superb. Everyone else also enjoyed their meals. Do not skip the tiramisu!! They put a candle in it for my birthday. The cocktails were as expected. The bar made me a Hugo spritz (not on the menu) which I appreciated. The espresso martini's came with a cute animal design on top (different every time!) Clean and modern bathrooms downstairs. They have outdoor seating as well, for the warmer weather to come. HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Cannot say enough good things. read more

When I am the Gramacy Park hood I love going to this establishment Isabella's Osteria the food is delicious and atmosphere is chil even when busy. I had a really good piece Bronzino so juicy perfectly seasoned on bed of chard. The salads were fabulous so fresh with a medley of veggies. The service is the best from management to the servers very polite and they certainly have knowledge of the menu. Ps the flower arrangements were exquisite. Ordered the $70 NY Strip medium, and it came charred and well done. I actually feel bad for this piece of meat. Asked for some bread and got 2 pieces of unbuttered toast. Just toast. Nothing on it. Serious mis-step for Isabelle's. Sitting here starving waiting for them to give it another shot, but with a miss this bad I don't have high hopes. We shall see.... I spent a long time trying to decide where I was gonna go tonight. I needed a place for a work dinner with a large group, I wanted it to be conveniently located in Manhattan, I wanted the menu to be approachable, but you know better than like Capital Grille, or any of the standard business dinner choices. I was very pleased. Because it was a large group I can't really tell you that many of the things we ordered, we did it family style. We ordered a ton of apps. Everything was excellent you know we got spreads we got seafood. I was very happy with it all. You know my boss ordered a bottle of wine for the table and it was great. Restaurant was very accommodating. I was very happy with the service. I will highlight that my entrée was the Lumache, which is something I've never had before. It was fantastic. read more

I am gluten free and dairy free so when I hear Italian, I am usually resigned to the fact I can't eat. Enter Akif one of the most hospitable kindest waiters I have ever met. He made sure I was able to eat something at every course. I had a delicious cauliflower appetizer, steak, chicken, and dessert, He bought stuff over and told me everything I could eat. I've seen this place and it piqued my curiosity. My supervisor wanted to take me to lunch for my last day and asked where I wanted to go. I mentioned Isabelle's. The inside is cutely decorated with more than enough space to accommodate groups. My colleague ordered the crispy calamari and I ordered the focaccia with olives for the appetizers. I really liked the focaccia and the calamari was good as well. I ordered the Southside fizz mocktail--I enjoyed very much. For entrees, my supervisor got the hanger steak and my colleague and I ordered shrimp fettuccine fra diavolo. My supervisor thought her steak was okay. Both my colleague and I thought our dish was subpar. The shrimp was way too overcooked. I think they boiled the shrimp for an hour. I couldn't stop chewing. Fra diavolo is supposed to be spicy--it was not. The service wasn't anything memorable. I think it's safe to say that I wouldn't be returning. read more

Started out as a table of three that ended to four. We waited much longer than our initial time reservation. But once we sat the servers were very attentive and allowed us to order almost immediately. The food came all together and tasted amazing! The first few apps we had were delicious!! Definitely spend money on the focaccia and meatballs! Cocktails were good and delicious but nothing something go out of my way for. Celebrated my birthday here and made reservations ahead of time for a Friday evening. They actually printed "Happy Birthday" on the menu for me which was a surprising touch! We ordered a few apps to share, and everyone got their own entree. Fried calamari - 10/10, love the garlic aioli! (Can share amongst 3-4 people) Caesar salad - 8.5/10, perfect amount of parmesan, could use a tad bit more dressing Bolognese (swapped tagliatelle with rigatoni) - 8/10 It felt a bit lukewarm, but perhaps it was because they were waiting for all dishes to be ready to serve at the same time? I really don't understand the hype around this place. The food was average for the price, and the service left a mixed impression. There were efforts from the restaurant to try to save my experience, but in the end it was poorly executed. I ordered the Spicy Salmon Tartare from the happy hour menu and it was extremely salty--so salty that I was chewing actual chunks of salt. The salmon didn't taste fresh, and it felt like the heavy salt was used to cover that. I almost never complain or send food back, but this was genuinely inedible, so I politely asked if anything could be done and made it clear I'd understand if not. The manager came over and instead of apologizing, told us the dish is "supposed to be seasoned with sea salt," in a tone that felt dismissive and as if she hadn't listened. I know food is seasoned, but my issue was that it was too salty. The menu also never mentioned sea salt, and the dish wasn't even spicy despite being called "Spicy Salmon Tartare." I would've been fine if she had simply told me nothing could be done, but her tone made me feel like I was in the wrong. What is the point of asking your customers "how is everything?" If you don't actually want to listen At the end of the meal, she brought us a complimentary dessert, which I appreciated, but she delivered it with a comment, "This is on me, ladies, this one definitely has no salt." Again, no apology, and the remark made the whole situation feel even more condescending. This poorly executed customer service left a terrible impact on me and I will not be going back, or ever recommending this place. read more

Pasta had a good bite, sauce was on the thicker side, which adhered well to the pasta. Flavorful, cheesy. 4/5 Lumache was my favorite of the two pasta dishes. Creamy, a bjt of acid, deeper flavors coming from the pork. 5/5 Salmon and the pork loin special were both very good. Also enjoyed the accompaniments that they came with. Both dishes were complete. It was a lovely lunch. The outdoor seating was perfect on the last of the warm days of fall. We ordered an appetizer Beef Carpaccio and a side of French Fries to start. I also got a mint tea which came with actual mint leaves. LOVE! For main, I ordered Mushroom Lasagna and my friend got their special - Saffron Pappardelle with mushrooms. The lasagna was scrumptious and very filling - don't be fooled by the single slice on a plate. The Saffron Pappardelle however came out inedible..it was soooo salty. So we asked if they can remake it. On the second try it came out perfect and was really delicious. About the pappardelle, when we were asking more info on the dish, the waiter said that saffron is a pepper. So I was confused and asked again. He said it comes from a flower but is a pepper like round peppercorn. It's strange for a man working there to not know what saffron is. And honestly his overall vibe was off. My friend and I came here after seeing a show. We came around 9:15 pm and were seated right away. They were closing the outdoor area so we were inside. I love the warmly lit ambiance. Service was great! Everything came out super fast - not sure if that's because they closed at 10 pm. I never am that person that shows up right before closing but we never felt rushed! There are 3 single stalls downstairs with a communal sink. What we ordered: - margarita - lychee martini: honestly not sure why there was a cat print, but we asked our sever and she said the bartender just decides. It was strong! NYC Restaurant Week (3 courses for $60): - Gazpacho: refreshing and light! - Steak: we both got this medium rare and it was great. Not dry at all. I'm usually not a mashed potatoes fan but it paired well with the steak. - Tiramisu: I was between this and the chocolate cake. But I'm happy I went with this because it was delicious! Had a really nice lunch at Isabelle's last weekend. Ambiance was great. We sat outside and enjoyed the Summer Streets on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Food was excellent! Our party of two had waffles, spaghetti pomodoro, and the chopped salad. Service was friendly and food came out quickly. My only minor complaint is that the quantities are a bit small for the prices. I came here for Sunday brunch this past weekend to celebrate my sister and future brother-in-law's engagement. The reason for 3 stars is because the service was lacking. The waiter never checked in on us. Didn't ask if we wanted more water or coffee, didn't ask how the food was or if we wanted dessert. Eventually another waiter came by after we complained to the manager and he was more helpful but it really was too late. I do want to give this restaurant another chance because the 3 stars is all the amazingly delicious food. Our party of 12 really enjoyed it. I ordered the truffle omelette and it was really delicious. My daughter had 2 eggs with a side of potatoes, the potatoes were crispy and perfectly seasoned. My husband ordered the chicken and waffles and really enjoyed his meal as well. The table had a burrata appetizer that was perfectly creamy and beets that were delicious that was with nuts and Gorgonzola cheese. I don't even like beets normally. Highly recommend updating your online site and/or honoring that given it is their responsibility to make sure information is up to date. Inside, very cutely decorated for the winter holidays. The margs were quite good with a nice rim, the shrimp scampi on the menu was also good, wish it came with more bread to even out the number of shrimp. Absolutely the BEST pomodoro I've had in NYC !!!!!! Would honestly come for this dish alone. Have been here twice now, and second time was just as good as I remembered. It's cute & pretty easy to get a reservation, though it can get loud inside. The side of crispy potatoes was huge & enjoyable (enjoyed the crispiest, tiny bits the most) though not a must order, and also liked the focaccia + whipped ricotta. Would probably pass on the fluke crudo next time but am curious about the Tuscan kale, mushroom lasagna, and cacio e pepe bucatini. read more

I have now been here twice, and I don't live in New York! The first time - we made reservations on Open Table a few weeks in advance for a Friday Night. I definitely recommend planning ahead. We got the mussels to start and they were a bit spicy/zesty and I almost just drank down all the broth it came in. Probably the best mussels I have ever had. My husband got the steak. It was I got the tagliatelle and it was magic in my mouth. The Chocolate Budino was THE BEST DESSERT. Rich but still not heavy. All the best ingredients! The second time I went with girlfriends for brunch on a Saturday at around 12:30 pm and it was just as great! We had the burrata appetizer, and pasta, and pancakes, AND dessert - cause why the hell not?? It's brunch! We got bottomless mimosas. Much fun was had, many delicious calories consumed with great joy. I could not recommend this place more if I tried. Isabelle's Osteria was participating in Winter Restaurant Week which began three weeks ago. I managed to have lunch here today. The menu had interesting choices. Fennel salad and Chicken Milanese was my selection. The salad came first. Shaved fennel married with walnuts gave it a slight bite and Parmesan and lemon made it creamy. Chicken Milanese arrived but where was it? Under the arugula! This dinner-plate sized crispy chicken had a fedora of arugula, slivers of red onion and cherry tomatoes. Toothsome but alas too large a helping. I had it parceled to take home. My one peeve was that the large amount of arugula had a tendency to spill off the plate onto the table which seemed a touch off. Nestor made a flavorful passion fruit mocktail for me which paired well with the lunch. Both he and Jesus were personable and professional. We spoke about the chicken which is not on the regular menu but is being considered as it was the most popular entrée during this Restaurant Week event. Lunching here is relaxing and I know as I have been here a few times. Restrooms are downstairs but I was allowed to use the one on the ground floor. Highly recommended! read more

What a nice spot that is super close to my office! I came here for a work lunch. The staff was very pleasant but I found it odd that our servers didn't take our orders until 30 minutes in, where we put in our appetizer and individual lunch orders. We started off with the focaccia, which was such a treat, and the ricotta spread that comes with it was delicious! I ordered the mushroom lasagna, as a big mushroom fan I was excited. It was an excellent dish, and so delicious. I loved the béchamel sauce. It did make me wish for family-style; the mushroom lasagna was a type of dish that although delicious, I couldn't eat the whole thing in one sitting, especially since it's quite rich. A lot of people in my group ordered salads, and those were quite fitting as one serving. The Isabelle Cobb looked like a beautiful and colorful salad; although I didn't try it, it looked appetizing and healthy! I'd love to come here again and try other things on their menu! read more

I've had this place on my list to check out for a while but have just never made it out - now that I have, I'll definitely be back! We shared the calamari and octopus for the starters. The calamari was super light, crispy, and not chewy at all! Would get this again. For mains, we shared the lumache (pork ragu, lemon, rosemary, chili, whipped ricotta) and the famous mushroom lasagna. I honestly really enjoyed both these dishes. The brightness and freshness of the lumache from the lemon and rosemary was a great way to brighten up pasta, which I normally think of as a pretty heavy dish. Perfect for the summer! The mushroom lasagna was also delicious, and I'm super glad I tried it. Not sure if I'd order it if I were coming alone / just getting one main because it started to get a bit monotonous at the end, but 100% a dish I'd get in a shareable rotation. For dessert, we finished off with the tiramisu - I'm probably not the most reliable source for a good tiramisu since I've never met one I don't like, but this one was no different! The service was also great, even though we were sitting outside. They frequently came by to refill our waters, and they went out of their way to check with the kitchen about whether they had any tiramisus left since we were wrapping up a bit on the later side. Overall, I think this is a great Italian spot to keep on the roster! It's nothing crazy fancy or the highest quality ever, but they have some pretty delicious pastas with unique flavours that you won't have you wait hours to get into. read more

What a great find in the middle of Union square area! Stopped by Isabelle's for dinner and the food was excellent! Such a gem, glad we found this spot! And for a Wednesday night, it was certainly lively! To start, we ordered the octopus, bruschetta, caesar salad followed by the bucatini, lumache, prawns to share - all of them were excellent! The highlight was definitely the octopus, I am always such a sucker for gigantes beans. They are my favorite! Dropped in for lunch with my mother in law, I had the STEAK SANDWICH portobello mushroom, roasted pepper, provolone, sauteed onion, balsamic and rosemary aioli, comes with a side of fries. Overall the sandwich was very flavorful, the flavor combination and portion was great. The aioli sauce was very tasty. My least favorite part was the meat, it was very chewy piece of meat and on its own was flavorless. The fries are good, we're cooked perfectly but too much salt. I visited Isabelle's today at 5pm and this place deserves 5 stars for multiple reasons, but most importantly - the staff. Everyone we interacted with was incredible and accommodating. They went out of their way to give us the best experience possible. The bartender took time to come over and ask what we wanted. The manager & host checked in and were kind. The servers were attentive and so friendly. The ambiance is great with good music, nice lighting and chic interior. We didn't have food, but we did have the margarita verde which was incredible! The restaurant has great outdoor dining, attentive service, and is wheelchair accessible, including the bathroom (though you do have to go through a kitchen area to get to it). Amazing spot for a girls brunch in Flatiron! While visiting NYC I had the opportunity to stop into Isabelle's for brunch on a Sunday and the vibes, food, and drinks were great, however, the amazing service is what stood out. Since I was visiting around the holidays the restaurant was also festively decorated! Food: We split a couple of appetizers and they were delish! The meatballs were my favorite, followed by the fried calamari. The crispy cauliflower could've been crisper, although it wasn't fried which I enjoyed. For my main I ordered the Lumache pasta as it came recommended by our waiter. So, so yummy and a very unique pasta dish! I highly recommend it. It's not too heavy and the lemon adds a lightness to the dish that is great. Can't say that i've ever had a pasta dish like it so it definitely is a standout menu item. The rest of my party ordered the Rigatoni, Cacio e Pepe, and other pasta dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meal! Lastly, we ordered tiramisu for dessert and it was nicely presented.
