What a gem! We were served complimentary chips and spicy dried red salsa. For appetizers, we shared a bowl of elote. It was made with real corn from the cob (not canned corn). It was good. I ordered pozole (red). The meat was SO tender. The portion was also huge. The tortilla it came with, I'm not sure if it was homemade but it felt like it. Had dinner here on a Wednesday and it was pretty busy! The inside isn't huge but there's a patio out front (note this kinda got some cigar smoke from the cigar bar nearby) and around the side. Our server Sam was great! She was friendly and attentive but we weren't in a hurry and never felt rushed. The chips are nice and crunchy but the salsa that comes out is more like a hot sauce, without being very hot. I would not come here for chips and salsa. I would come back for the guacamole! Or as they call it, the avocado pico. I got the three taco sampler on flour tortillas. Their flour tortillas are great! They're the thinner kind that aren't doughy. The shrimp taco was fine, just a matter of personal preference. I liked the carne asada taco better but mostly I think because of the guac. The carnitas taco was so good!! Note that a regular chunky tomato salsa came with the tacos. I wonder if you can get that instead of the hot sauce with chips? The rice is good and I chose the borracho beans, which I was surprised to find were to me, like a chili! No complaints at all, just unexpected. They were delicious. The strawberry margarita was quite delicious However, sadly the salsa was rather lacking and the Pollo especial was rather flavorless, even though it still was spicy it did not taste like much. Hubby & I had dinner here last night. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us right away. We opted for inside. Our server was prompt, knowledgeable, friendly & on top of it. I really wanted to love this restaurant. Hubby ordered a beer & I ordered a red sangria. His beer was good & cold. My sangria had a good taste, but was a little weak. You get chips, mild salsa & spicy salsa. I did not like the mild salsa. It tasted like tomato sauce and chili powder. Hubby said the spicy salsa had a back heat that was pretty spicy. Hubby ordered the chicken fajitas with black beans. That's normally what I get, but I had read they were bland. I warned him, but I tried them anyway. He confirmed they were bland, but not bad when paired with the rice, beans, etc. You only get 1 tortilla, but you can get 2 at no additional cost if you ask. I had the chicken burrito chimichanga style. It comes with chicken, refried beans & guacamole. I added sour cream. It comes with rice & your choice of beans. It was good, but lacked flavor. Decided to give it a try, loved it, went back several times, and have loved everything so far! My favorite is a Carne Asada plate with refried beans. I have visited Isabel's Amor twice, and both experiences were good. My initial visit was on Cinco de Mayo, where my husband and I went with a few friends. The restaurant featured special offers and performances that day. My second visit was months later when we had family in town who requested Mexican food. The space is warm and welcoming, with seating options both indoors and outdoors. They were very busy on Cinco de Mayo so service was understandably off that night. Service was much better on my second visit. Between the two trips, I had the chance to sample several items, including a spicy margarita, street corn, shrimp ceviche, and the pescado del mercado. The drinks were great, and the food was delicious. I ordered the pescado del mercado on both occasions. During my first visit, the fish was somewhat bland, but it had more flavor the second time around. The entree portions are pretty big; most of our entrees came with rice, beans, and a salad. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert on both visits, but I will definitely save room for it next time! read more

I really want to love this place but I'm just not feeling it. I'm a fan of Someburros (owned by the same family) and I understand creating a nicer, full service restaurant, however I feel like I'm lost on this one. My daughter and her husband love this place, so I'm sure I'll be back there again in the future but I've been there 3 times in the last couple of years and the hype of it is lost on me. The restaurant itself is quite loud and echoey and the metal chairs make an awful noise when they're slid on the floors or when a server/hostess tries to slide two tables together for a larger party. The food is just okay for the price. I tried their Famous Carnitas and was underwhelmed. I make it myself, at home, so I was really hoping theirs would be nicer level. The beans are good, the rice was okay, the tortillas were delicious. Next time I'll try yet another dish and see if that one hits the spot. I really loved my experience here. We were held by Emma and Hunter. Hunter looked like Glenn Powell.. He was a great waiter who could almost read my mind. We got Spanish corn, which was phenomenal and then I shared a Carne Asada plate with my wife. It was definitely enough for two. They had these awesome tortillas that somebody makes homemade. We got lucky on an 85° night. Gotta eat outside. It was wonderful. I highly recommend getting a side of the red enchilada sauce. Now I see why they're rated the number one restaurant in Gilbert. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can tell the kitchen knows exactly what they're doing. Anthony P., Ryan, and Ben at the bar are seriously top-tier. They're quick, personable, and clearly know their craft. Even when things get busy, they keep everything running smoothly while still making you feel taken care of. You can tell they enjoy what they do, and it shows. Sam, our waitress, was just as impressive. She was attentive the entire time without hovering, super friendly, and on top of every detail. Drinks, food, check-ins--everything was perfectly timed. It made the whole experience feel effortless. It's rare to find a place where both the bartenders and waitstaff are this consistently good, but this team really works together seamlessly. My friend and I visited Isabel's on a Wednesday afternoon and let me tell you I'd did not disappoint. The margarita was strong and the chips crisp. The salsa with the chips was great. So many times it just taste like tomato sauce. But this was flavorful and had a nice kick to it. On the waiter's recommendation I got the Pollo Especial and it was amazing! Think fajitas in a creamy jalepeno sour cream sauce with hatch chile and onions. Served with a fresh tortilla (ask for an extra tortilla) and rice and beans. I ended up having to bring half of it home. It was such a generous portion. My friend got a wet chimichanga and said it was one of the best she has had in a long time. Highly recommend! If you can make it for happy hour get the carnitas cheese crisp. We saw it on so many tables as we left and it looked amazing. Sad that we did not indulge! This is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. The food, the drinks, and the service are all top-notch. We have been here countless times; on one or two occasions there were minor issues, all addressed immediately. I am fairly certain that we have tried every single item on the menu. My favorite is the Pozole (I have had both the red and green, both are delicious) and my husband is a big fan of the Carnitas. I definitely always steal a few bites of that dish! I can also recommend the house margarita. The prices here are very reasonable for the quality of food. It is not great for a date night, as it is usually packed and crazy loud. One of our favorites and a place we hadn't visited in a while. Glad we did yesterday! Sunday dinner was less of a wait (almost instantly seated) and the food was on point. I had the pick 2 -cheese and onion and the shrimp enchiladas. and the rest of the table had the pozole, shared the chicken fajitas and for apps the bean dip and cheese crisp. we weren't fans of the cheese crisp but the dip was a hit! Unplanned stop at Isabel's amor after our long drive and late arrival back in town, everyone was hungry so we saw this place and decided to go in and try out, since we had heard of it through friends. It was ok, I think the meal was flavorful but a bit salty & greasy to my taste, huge portion. I didn't really like the complimentary salsa as I thought it was too thick and just not what I normally would like on a Mexican restaurant. The service was great, I was greeted and seated promptly, the restaurant is cute, smallish, cozy vibes. We were hungry so we ate our meals but I admit it was not my favorite. Good food, some items are hit or miss. Decent ambiance, service is okay as they always seem to be under staffed. I love their margaritas, but order frequently because they take forever to come to you. They don't take reservations - and showing up and being put on the wait list, be warned, the times fluctuate wildly, I have been told 30 minutes and it took over an hour, and told an hour and it takes 30 minutes. They have young teenagers at the hostess booth, so I am imagine they are guessing because they are never accurate and they aren't very cordial or welcoming. Go for a good margarita, good/decent food (chicken fajitas were tasteless, the el Presidente was very good), depending on where you sit - nice ambiance, but don't expect your waiter/waitress to appear even somewhat happy to be there, its not happening. They are affordable, each time I've gone I am always expecting the check to be more that what it is. Which is one of the reasons we keep going back. But the service and staff need a major overhaul and/or more training on how to treat their paychecks, I mean customers. read more

In a word: incredible! If I could give this place 10 stars I would! We went in for an early dinner on a Friday evening and it was our first time there. The place was very open and welcoming, busy but they were still able to seat us right away. Our server was Jairo and he did an excellent job, made sure our glasses were never empty and refilled our chips and salsa when they were empty. We were given a complimentary serving of shrimp ceviche and it was quite possibly the best I ever had. My boyfriend ordered the Pollo Asado Especial and I ordered the Asado Salad and both were outstanding. The photos speak for themselves! I've been to this Mexican restaurant a few times and have had a nice experiences. I would highly recommend getting there early on a weekend like we did. Because they do not take reservations and if you wait until 6:30 to go out for dinner you will wait. I ordered the Pollo asada borro enchilada style and it was very good a nice size portion for a reasonable price. The chips and salsa are good too. The service was outstanding. This restaurant has a very refined feel to it when you walk in. I would consider it to be a more upscale Mexican dining environment than a lot of the other Mexican restaurants you would go to. They have a great patio and when it's cooler they do feature live music on the weekends which is fun. read more

They ably handled our party of eight, including keeping the chips and salsa coming (an absolute *must* for a decent Mexican restaurant, right?). I am visiting Arizona and was excited to try some authentic Mexican food. This place was not it. The beans were sour tasting and honestly, I think I prefer Rosaritas canned beans. Anything with beans was automatically ruined. The nachos consisted of six mini tostadas with sour beans smeared on them and a jalapeño or two. I also tried the chicken tacos and it was tasteless and bland. The rice was dry. Not sure why this place has such high ratings. I have to assume that it's been reviewed by people who have never tasted authentic Mexican food. The staff was nice enough though they got my order wrong and forgot to bring my drinks until I reminded them and was done with my meal. Went on a Friday night at 5:30. Nice restaurant. We didn't want to wait so we set on the patio. With the patio heaters it was pleasant. Our waiter was excellent, very attentive and informative. We had the frijole appetizer and it was excellent as always. They provide chips and salsa, salsa is pretty good but chips are just okay. We had our usual carne asada. This Mexican food restaurant has a great Happy Hour, with all the beers on their menu at $3.00 from 2 PM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Our server was very prompt in taking our orders and all orders were delivered as directed. The restaurant could use some updating. We were originally seated at a table that had a vinyl covered bench that had the vinyl split and the bench was very short, which made it uncomfortable. We asked to move to a table with 4 chairs, which was better. The food was just "OK." The chicken enchiladas are filled with white and dark meat, which gives them a taste that we have not experienced at other Mexican food restaurants that use all white meat. Their chicken fajitas are good, but are served with just one flour tortilla, and I had to ask for a few more. The couple we were with commented that their carne asada and tostadas were very good. I came here to attend an East Valley Singles MeetUp for the first time, on April 17, 2024. I hadn't heard of this restaurant until it was posted on the MeetUp. 16 people attended and we sat on the patio. I already picked my entree before I arrived. I always pick chilli relleno, because it isn't something that I would bother to make for myself at home, being so labor intensive. Well this place charges $11 for one chili relleno with no sides, even tho I ordered the entree that is supposed to come with rice, beans, and flour tortilla. I showed the server on the menu, what I wanted. But when the food was served it was only 1 chili relleno. I wanted a long time but the beans and rice never came. When I pointed out to the female who brings the dishes to the table, she had such a bewildered look about "rice and beans" that the hostess of the event, sitting next to me, was laughing. I asked her what was she laughing at, and she said the girl looked so clueless and blank faced, at my request for rice and beans. I told the girl "it comes with the chili relleno entree". She acted like "Got it" and went away. So she did eventually bring the rice and beans but it took soooooo long, it was not before I had to walk up there and remind her, and that I was waiting to eat my chilli relleno WITH THE RICE AND BEANS, and my rellena was cold now. I also had to remind the servers that I didn't get my flour tortilla (this was after I had already finished my food), that the menu said was supposed to come with my order. The chili relleno was SOOOOO BORING AND BLAND and WATERY, I was almost shocked. I also asked for more sauce, to make it less boring. But when the sauce was delivered I had to flag down another server to bring me a spoon to eat it worth (sauce and beans and rice came in a soup bowl). I ate a chili that was so hot in my mouth. I didn't have any ice. I flagged my server for the ice, but it took soooooo long for him to bring it. the rest of the group didn't get their food for a very long time. When I got my bill, I was surprised to see I was charged $11 for the chili relleno, and another $5 for the rice and beans labeled as "side dish" as if it were an after thought. I rarely give 1 stars but this place is getting a 1 star, mostly for poor service. It wouldn't be 1 star if the chili relleno wasn't so shockingly BORING, WATERY, and BLAND. I felt this restaurant was expensive, too, for "Mexican food". Valle Luna's chili relleno is much better tasting and several dollars cheaper for the entree plate. It is $6.98 for one chili relleno there, so I order two as sides. At Isabel, two chlli relleno would cost me $22, and there isn't even any meat in it, and so boring and watery!
