We signed a contract in May, and regardless of how bad the service is, they say 'SORRY SUCKER' you signed a contract and we wont let you OUT OF IT TILL JUNE 30th. Thats how they are still in business. They lock you into a contract and then live off of your mistake for 12 months. GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE For water softening. In fact, its illegal in our town, so they remove the tanks and dump them in another city. They should be cited for pollution!!!! And just in case you think I'm the only one, look at all of the other horrible reviews for this company. There's maybe one that likes them. Everyone else gives them 1 star and has horror stories like we do. Well Culligan, you have us locked in till June 30th, (which I plan to find out if we have a way out of) but after that we are gone. And unless you cleanup your act, you will have NO CUSTOMERS and will go out of business. And its your own fault. Did anyone ever address the damage to our house? The poor service? The lack of response from anyone except the lady that answers the phone? No. No one will step up and address the elephant in the room. We recently moved into our new home, and Culligan Water Company was scheduled to remove the previous owner's soft water system from our garage. What followed has been nothing short of a disaster. Your technician removed the system and negligently left an exposed copper pipe leaking inside the cabinet in our garage. This pipe should have been properly soldered shut. It was not. As a result, water is now leaking into the cabinet--creating the risk of water damage and mold. This is not a minor oversight. This is basic plumbing protocol that your technician failed to follow. We have made multiple attempts to get Culligan to correct this issue. You've refused. Your team has ignored requests to send someone out to fix what is clearly your responsibility. And to make matters worse, your front desk representative, Gina, has been completely unhelpful and, frankly, rude. Her tone, dismissiveness, and inability to escalate the issue properly are unacceptable and completely unprofessional. We never asked for Culligan's services. We certainly did not expect to be left with active water damage risks due to your technician's failure to complete the job correctly. Repeated attempts to contact a manager or the owner have been ignored. No calls have been returned. This situation is unacceptable. Culligan caused this problem. Culligan needs to fix it--immediately. If we do not receive a resolution or a confirmed service appointment within 48 hours, we will pursue further action, including filing formal complaints with the Better Business Bureau, our local licensing board, and consumer protection agencies. They continue to increase prices. Recently serviced our reverse osmosis system and it was 600$. Paid a check in full, they later sent me a bill. I called them and they informed me they don't have my check. So they lost my check with my bank routing number, cool. Then they send me another email with a late charge and don't respond to email requests. Horrible customer service. We loved Gary who serviced our house, but the company itself should be making this right. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Advertised that they come out to test your water for free so I scheduled an appointment to get this done. When Bob called to say that the ladies made a mistake in the scheduling and to change it for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, he indicated that the free water test was only for hardness and not what contaminates were in the water. There is a charge for this and an additional $100+ to just come out. So The appointment would have cost over $500 just to evaluate my water. Can you say bait and switch. Horrible!!!! I changed my review because of them getting back to me about being unhappy of what I was told over the phone. read more

Water dispenser malfunctioning and leaks water from the bottom. Wasted 1 5-gal bottle that leaked overnight. Called and asked for replacement; their best response is wait till their regular route to my area on March 1st--roughly 2 weeks away?!? Asked for the manager and was told he's not available and will call at his earliest convenience. Called and spoke to the Stockton office and was given the same response. No sense of urgency nor empathy. Told them I want to cancel my account. Less than 10 minutes later, got a call from the supposed manager asking me what's going on--told him I don't want to repeat the same things I had already spoken about with two of their employees. He said he had to do his research first about the situation before he called me...then WTF is he asking me to repeat myself again?!? Then he said he can have someone come out and have dispenser checked; I said no since I had already purchased a water dispenser from Walmart and was on my way to pick it up. Told him again I want to cancel my account. He asked me if I was sure... how many times do I have to repeat myself to these people?!? He then said he could come out himself, bring a replacement dispenser and deliver however many 5-gal of water I needed--WHY JUST THEN?!? Just because I wanted to cancel the account? If they really cared about their customers, they would offer the best solution right off the bat--not when they're just wanting to keep business. And it's not like the dispenser is free--I pay for renting the unit--so why is it so hard to replace?! Oh and btw, I've been a customer since 2019 and they said my account was "delinquent" in November for paying 2 weeks later than due date--3 years with them and they decided to tag me delinquent for ONE month that payment was late. Not interested in keeping business with a company that doesn't care about their customers' needs. read more

Stay clear of this place. They have a goofball servicing their units that caused a mold issue in my son's system due to not performing the sanitation of the tank like you should do. Plus, he talks politics being a Trump supporter and if when you try to get another rep, they say they can't do that, it's not allowed. He told my son he owned him gas money for voting for Biden. They won't allow other Culligan locations to service you and their customer service SUCKS. There seems to be issues with these water purification companies with quirky people doing the service. You have to be careful cause if you get the wrong guy, you're going to be paying all the upfront costs again to get a new service. read more

I've had my system installed for 1 year and have been extremely happy with the quality of water that our family has been enjoying. We were unhappy with some portion of the installation, but the manager Tony sent one of his best guys to help undo the part of the installation that we were unhappy with and re-do it in a way that we wanted. read more

We have been using the water softener for 15 years and and water purifier for 2 years. Culligan is a "no problem" company. Their on site personnel also connected our refrigerator ice line and addressed other minor problems without charge. They are not the cheapest alternative, but they are the best. If you value "doing it right the first time" , use Culligan. read more

I called in regards to a water leak on my Culligan water softener. Lady on the phone was nice, albeit not very helpful. In a nutshell, I ended up not using them and took my business to a local plumber. Here is why: 1. $80 for a "Dispatch fee" to give the call to a technician. I asked (politely, because I honestly wanted to know what I was getting for $80 bucks) what is involved with dispatching a call that costs so much. I was simply told, "That's what they charge" to send a technician out. 2. $110 per hour on-site billed in 15 minute increments. Apparently being a plumber makes just as much money as a commercial airline pilot or a hospital anesthesiologist. 3. The soonest they could schedule me was the following week (Monday), but they don't know their schedule until the day before (which is Sunday). I asked if they could at least tell me if it will be in the morning or afternoon, and they couldn't. I'm expected to be at home all day waiting until they can figure out when someone can get to me. 4. I was told the technician would determine if the repair would be covered under warranty (I told them my water softener was 10 years old). I asked what the warranty entailed and she couldn't answer. I subsequently found out it was a limited lifetime warranty on the Culligan website. This is factual information, along with a bit of personal frustration. I ended up finding the leak myself which was on one of the joints on the copper water pipe (installed by Culligan), and having a plumber fix it for $150 on a Sunday. I'm satisfied with the water softener, but not really impressed when I had to call for service. read more

This is one of the most unprofessional companies I have ever done business with. Unfortunately, they seem to be the only company serving the area if you want soft water that follows local laws/regulations. If you go with this company expect: - your bill to have price hikes every month. This will not be specified in the contract when you agree to a monthly fee for their service. We have seen bill increase for fuel surcharges and for the water service itself. Kind of makes you wonder what the contract was for when they change how much you pay as they see fit. We started off paying somewhere in the $50 range and are now closer to $70 under the same contract! - water tanks that break almost every time the new one(s) for the month are installed (broken gaskets and busted manifolds are common, get used to your garage having water on the ground) - an extremely rude and unprofessional lady answering their phone if you ever call with questions (she thinks it is the customer's responsibility to know THEIR COMPANY's holiday schedule, and finds any question about their service an opportunity to be rude Make absolutely no mistake, if we find a competing company in the area we will be dropping Culligan in a heartbeat! read more

I was surprised to see the negative reviews. We are renting a Medalist 30 water softener system from Culligan Stockton which was installed about Sept 2013. The installation went smooth and I was surprised how complicated it was to run the line for the purging. It went from the garage , through the wall into our laundry room and into the washer drain. Very professionally done in a manner I would not have considered! Solid pat on the back for the technician! Over the years, we had only one system failure when the system continued to run in the purge mode. I called Culligan and one of the ladies hooked me up with Tony who walked me through the control steps. We determined over the phone that a repair was necessary so I shutdown the system based on Tony's instructions. They were able to send out a technician 4 days from my trouble call but we were leaving town for the week. I set up the appoint two weeks out. The tech arrived in the morning, checked the system and discovered that a part failed. About two hours later, he had the system dismantled, replaced the part, reset the system, and had it fully functioning. Since then no more failures. Only negative: We just received a new bill and it showed an unannounced 5% rental rate increase from what was originally quoted ($3.50/month). Not a lot, but the consumer should have been notified prior. Nobody likes surprises and I assume that would apply to the Culligan staff as well in the bills they receive. Over the years, there have been a couple of billing errors, but a phone call quickly resolved them. I am currently in the process of reviewing alternative softener systems to own instead of rent. Culligan has provided a buy-out price (I purchase) for my system which I am considering but also reviewing other top quality systems with high performance ratings that are on the market with full warranty. I may decide to retain my rental and continue to pay rent, replace it with another system, or do the buy-out which is a bit higher in cost than a new system with equal or better ratings. I am currently inquiring about warranty coverage for the existing system. Results of that will help me determine my best route. The salesman has been exceptionally quick to respond and pleasant to talk with. Reason for this comment, after noting the negative reviews, overall, the customer service, technical support over the phone and on site repair has been excellent with no issues. I wish I could have given this company 0 stars. I have never given a bad review because I know how much companies rely on reviews. I wish someone would have told me about this company before paying for their product. First, there customer service is offensive and more the once their service agents have talked over me and treated me unprofessionally. Their bottom line is money. For the money we payed for the product, I expected it to be handled professionally and top of the line. They not only damaged my house during their installation that they refused to pay and repair, but they are also charging extra fees associated with their own clerical error. I do not plan on doing business with them again and will recommend all of my friends and family to stay far away. Until their management shows they can have professional transactions and care about customer service, then I will not praise or recommend their product. read more

Having the salt delivered and having the driver have his own garage clicker is so convenient. I don't even have to be home. The put it in the softener too. Not very knowledge of what systems should be used for wells. We had a well drilled about 4 years ago when we had our house built. We called Culligan and had someone come out and advise us of what we needed. We had no experience of being on a well, and we trusted the Culligan name. When they came out, we explained the water wasn't completely clear. They did a water test on sight and Steve said he could smell the presence of bleach in the water. We didn't know bleach is used for disinfection in wells. He advised us we needed a water softener. So we paid 3400.00 and had it installed. Less than a year after it was installed, we started having a sulfur smell in the water on and off. We are tired of the smell and had Ising's Culligan(Paul) come back out. It took 2 calls to them to make that happen. They tested the water again(iron only, not as accurate as a lab) and said we needed a different system at a cost over 3000.00 again. Still no full general mineral test was requested. I understand that wells can change. But after doing research, I wonder why they didn't advise us to do a complete general mineral test (at a lab) like other filter company's request. That would have been a good base line. I think if they had, it would have shown that our well was on the border of being high for Iron/Manganese, Ph, sulfur or anything else. I called Paul and asked this question, and what my concerns were, but he acted like it was my problem and not Ising's Culligan. Should have done the research the first time but we were too busy building a house. They were interested in the sell, and not advising us of our options. I would recommend doing your own research before buying there over priced systems. Several good filter companies out there that will advise you what you need to do. read more

I purchased a softener and R/O system for my new house 9 years ago from Culligan Stockton. Over the years I have had several problems and each problem came with complete frustration from this business. A couple years ago the brine tank suction line stopped working, so I ordered the part (very expensive, $250 for a plastic tube assembly). I went to pick up the part and there was total confusion trying to find it. It turned out to be the wrong part (than what I ordered), so I had to go back to Stockton again to pick up the correct part. Just recently, water from the system started leaking all over the garage. I called for a service call on a Tuesday. The soonest available time was the following Monday. I was supposed to receive a call on Friday with the arrival window for Monday. That call never came. They showed up at noon Monday and replaced two rubber O rings on the softener for $150. It was still leaking. There were two potential causes and the installer called the office for quotes to fix each part. Well, they didn't have time for that, but they did have time to run my credit card. I was supposed to receive a call that day with a quote. That was 10 business days ago. I figured out on my own it was the R/O pump that's leaking, but I'll find someone else to fix it for a LOT less money. The guys in the field are great and do good work for you, but the office is completely inept. Take your business elsewhere. read more
