When we got home my boyfriend found a tick on him which after going to urgent care was determined to have been in him 24 hours, having to of come from this property. And the tick was identified as the type to carry lyme. After checking our dog, I noticed many fleas. Just something to watch out for . We gave our dog flea meds and a week and a half later I am still getting bit by fleas. So now we have to bomb our house. We literally have never had a flea problem or seen a single flea in the 2 years we have lived in our house. Taking away a star because of the tremendous headache this place has become. The Good I cant remember the name of the lady who checked us in but she was very kind and after showing us to our room/house, gave us good recommendations in town for dinner. the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and dishes. we did not cook but it would be no problem for anyone who wished to. the hot tub was clean and functioning. the entire house was well decorated, and although the house was poorly insulated we were not cold at night. The house was very peaceful, as we were the only ones staying in the house. there are three rooms and a communal upstairs loft area that are rented out but were not rented out during our stay. The Bad: The main reason for 3 stars is this morning we were awoken at 930 by a knock on the door. walking down the hallway to the front door I saw a woman face to face at the door through the window. I unlocked the door and through a crack, trying to indicated privacy. She did not introduce herself at all or state that she was with the resort staff. She stated she needed to check something and before I could say anything she gently pushed me aside and came in the house. I asked if there was a problem, check out is not until noon. to which she did not reply or say anything. she ended up just needing to turn a light off in the basement but the encounter was strange and left me very annoyed and upset that it couldnt have been delt with after we checked out. what made it even stranger was as I was writitng a yelp review about this encounter, we recieved an air bnb email saying they apologize for us being needlessly intrrupted and offered us to stay another night if we wanted. I had not submitted my review so my only guess is someone in the basement heard me discuessing the situation with my boyfriend. We had suspected there was someone living in the basement, and at this point realized we had been listened in on the entire stay. Creepy, and not what I would expect for $200 a night. The rest of the stay: The office is hard to find unless you pull into the 2nd driveway. when we pulled into the first driveway and parked in front of a house, a lady aroached us and said it was a private residence and vageuly directed us across the courtyard. it took about 10 min of wandering to find the tiny check in office. no form of reservation, id, or anything else was checked which was a little odd. After getting settled in we explored the property. there were many run down looking structures, the few grassy areas were strewn with random stuff, old bird cages, etc. the courtyard has bird cages ok two sides, and the birds are very loud. They seemed to be cared for, but the number of birds was pretty alarming. I didnt count but there was easily 20-30 birds. there is a fenced area for llamas and another for goats both of which seemed adaqute space space. The cats however we were not able to see because they were in cage surrounded by cages of other animals. it was easy to see that the cats were not in appropriate sized cages for being wild animals. my only hope is that they are let out on a leash for exercise throughout the day, although I doubt they are. Apparently these animals were all brought here from a san francisco artist/animal breeder in the 70s. although i'm sure she loved these animals are meant well, it is clear they became too much to handle. there are not enough staff, and probably not a single staff member who has the actual knowledge of caring for this many animals, and these types of animals. My boyfriend booked us this hotel to get away for the night for our 10 year aniversary. From the Pictures and website it sounds like a unique place with a relaxed retrest vibe. I decided to look up reviews and doscovered the truth that is Isis. I kept an open mind though since we had alrwsdy booked. I was saddened to see the animals are in the enviornment that is discribed in past reviews. We however did enjoy our stay despite this, which is why I give them 2 stars. This place is not a retreat or a resort as it claims. I assume it is because of the recent fires and boost in homelessless, but this place is at current a landing ground for wanderers, homeless and free spirited 'hippies'. I respect that they were able to bring these people in and give them a place to live, but it should not be considered a resort, or a non profit implying they rescue their animals. read more

Would strongly discourage you to visit or stay at this lodge/animal sanctuary. First of all, I am deeply concerned about the welfare of the animals present at the sanctuary. The bird cages are in poor condition, and look like they will injure the animals. They are infested with rats. It makes me worried about the birds getting ill from the rats. The exotic cats are distressed, and pacing. Their housing is small, with little enrichment. Their raw food covered with flies. There was no staff available to address these situations, except for a single volunteer who didn't really know much about animal care or behavior. This is not a sanctuary by any means, and apparently have had their license revoked in the past with several complaints about animal welfare in the past few years by the USDA. It is nothing more than a roadside animal attraction. To draw in public who would likely not visit there in the first place. I think they may do all this to support their drug habit. Now, if this has not bothered you enough, more about the room ... We stayed in the Nuit Room, and it had a distinct odor. Both my friend and I were secretly concerned about getting bed bugs after stepping in there. The bedding was dirty, with several stains and spots on the linen. The bed was uncomfortable and rolled around whenever you moved. I got zero sleep, as there is a swimming pool that is clothing optional just outside of the room. People were chatting, and being loud, splashing water until 2:30 in the morning, despite numerous attempts by both myself and my friend asking them to please be quiet. My friend who after a nine hour drive to get there, wanted to silently sit in the pool and see the stars above her to relax, but was being bothered by the volunteer staff who kept talking to her about his personal life. She was also offered drugs, and they told her that they had a staff party earlier in the evening and were doing mushrooms. The bathrooms are shared. They are separated by sex. The cleanliness level of the women's room is worse than most rest stops at gas stations. And there is no privacy to change clothes or undress, unless you do it in the shower stall. There was no staff around the following morning, and we were told no one typically shows up until after noon. This place gives more of a hippy commune vibe, or a cult than anything else. If they are taking such poor care of the rooms and facilities, then it is no wonder that the animals there are kept in such awful conditions too. read more

Undoubtably the best Valentines Day weekend ever... Just found this little hideaway in Geyserville on Airbnb app, my High expectations were surpassed. The whole place was a spiritual experience. The lodge was magical, we had room 5. The bed was super comfy and the pool was heated for Feb!! The jacuzzi was perfect for a nice end to a fab day as well as the improptu fire show!! ( not a reg thing just happened to be a special eve) loved the animals and owner De Traci and Jim the best thank you can't wait to be back soon read more

I planned a lady vacation here with two of my friends and we enjoyed every bit of it! We stayed at the lodge in September and were the only guests at the time, they let us choose our room and even let us cook dinner in their kitchen. The pool was lovely and so was the hot tub! Everyone who works there and the residents were so friendly. The next day we participated in the noon time ceremony in the Isis temple then we took a tour of the cats, and got to make some new wild cat friends! They also gave us a tour of the reptiles. Everyone was very informative and helpful. We only stayed for one night but I definitely plan on returning! We spent the next day at the Russian River on our way back to San Francisco, a perfect end to a much needed escape from the city. read more

I want to like this place but there is a major deal-breaker. It has a pool, a simple but cozy lodge (shared bathrooms and showers), interesting decor (faux Egyptian) and... well, a filthy shared kitchen. Honestly, the kitchen and adjoining meeting room should be shut down for health reasons. There are dirty towels, stove, walls and floors, as well as ants and rodent turds in the drawers. If you are with a group, there is little to no kitchen prep area and what there is is an unsanitary, low wooden table. The dish washing area is poorly laid out and discourages efficient and thorough washing up. Since the staff uses this kitchen also and surely must notice the filth, I wonder about the management of what is supposed to be a safe retreat. During my stay there were about 30-40 guests using the facilities yet the trash was not emptied for days--not even the compost bin in the kitchen. read more

The accommodations are quirky and decent. We very much enjoyed the convenience to main street Geyserville. However, I must mention that upon initially booking DeTraci allowed the booking to run out of time. DeTraci then reached out to let me know that the hot tub and pool would not be available during my stay and if I'd still be interested in booking. It's the beginning of March and didn't anticipate the weather being nice enough that I would want to and we were only staying overnight so I was fine with this. At that time, she sent me a new request to book and had increased the price by 150%. I found that odd considering there were fewer amenities to use but booked anyway since it seemed like a unique experience. However, when I brought this price increase to DeTraci's attention she ignored my message and never felt it necessary to apologize or explain the price increase. The Isis Oasis Sanctuary houses many animals and that is a part of the fun and unique experience. However, the grounds aside from the animals don't feel well kept, not very cleanly, and although we weren't allowed to use the hot tub and pool we walked over to check it out and it didn't look anywhere near ready for public use. Some tables and chairs surrounded the area and those were not organized in any fashion and had debris and leaves all over them, again, indicating this area wasn't ready for public use. The shared bathroom also didn't seem clean and, in our rooms, the ceilings had several spider webs and dead spiders. This could be easily cleaned up. Overall, the stay was okay only because of the unique accommodations and animals. I would say come prepared with Clorox wipes and don't expect to use the pool and hot tub because it may not be up to standards of cleanliness. Also, inquire about the pool area before booking if you plan on using it. read more

I spent an (expensive) weekend retreat to "meet the wildcats" here a couple years ago. Having no idea what to expect, but being a good Berkeley Girl, I didn't smirk or guffaw when we drove past the "temple" on the drive way... nor did I giggle when introduced to the "spiritual" idealism of this interesting, quirky, eclectic and out-dated spiritual new-agey, crystal rubbing hoo-haw that has unfortunately misappropriated Ancient Egyptian mysticism. (As a person raised in an Egyptian/Ameircan household, I am always displeased when I see a bunch of white folks taking over what they know very little about. It's just culture-vulturism, and perpetuates stereotypes.) Our small group of strangers came from several backgrounds, ate communally together (the food was all veg, pretty good, organic and prepared with some care), listened to the supposed wisdom of the proprietess-cum-Goddess person -- an aging 1950/60's era San Francisco Art/Crafts woman who is just old enough to have been around when it was legal to purchase, own in an apartment and breed, ocelots. She clearly enjoyed once being the eccentric arteest with the Ocelot on a leash back in the day... And she continues to wear heavy Kohl eyeliner, from which I will withhold further comment. But this is not a sanctuary; not by a long-shot. Once S.F. banned the private ownership of wild animals, the "Goddess" took her little brood of ocelots, sold her trendy art studio, and bought this plot of land back when it was affordable. Then she build her own special version of an Ancient Egyptian Retreat, heavy on the feminist/Isis ideology. However, I seriously, seriously doubt the veracity of it being on sacred Native ground. That's been so done and so ground into the sacred ground, so to speak, I just don't buy it. Here, she indiscriminately breeds the cats, inter and intra species, spends very little time with them herself, allowing a bunch of socially awkward, ill-educated minions to tend to their various needs. The cats are well kept as far as I could tell, they are adored by their care-takers, but she isn't doing this to perpetuate the cats.... she does it, well, because that's what she does; it's frankly thoughtless and she has a license and no apparently checks up. The breeding is done very indiscriminately (by her own admission), and there is little done to preserve the breed(s). She does have bobcats, ocecats, African wild cats... but they're often thrown together to breed without much thought as what the outcome might be. It's like her little thoughtless experiment. We bore witness to a lovely scene of wild cat mating, which entailed one female cowering while the male mounted her and bit her until she bled while the other female screeched, fled and hid. I suppose that's the way it goes, but I'd query: what happens to all those KITTENS????? We got to mingle with the cats, guided by under-educated, socially hapless, and obviously star-struck young woman who should have been overseen by someone knowledgeable. Tey did their best, but it was such a random, poorly thought out weekend retreat that we ended up leaving early the second evening. It was just very uncomfortable and unplanned. The accommodations were fine, we stayed in the lodge with bathrooms shared by the entire floor. The decor was Egyptianish; the usual stuff you'd expect (close your eyes and picture the old Mummy movies with Lon Chaney and you'll get the idea). Privacy is impossible, the walls are thin, and air slats on top of the doors allow every squeaky spring to resonate throughout the whole floor. But it was comfortable and unique. We didn't have time to enjoy the pool, but it looked delicious. I'd go again for my own quiet retreat, but definitely not for a group "retreats". Also, if you go, bring your own bottled water, booze, snacks, etc. There's a small bodega down the street, but other than that, at night there's no place to go if you're craving a little something. And nothing but tap water if you're thirsty in the middle of the night. And no cups around, either. Overall, for an interesting, only-in-California experience, this would be one worth checking out. The Old Goddess won't last forever, and her aging partner won't either. After they go, who knows what will happen. We'd be happy to adopt a cat or two, though, they were very cool. read more

I have nothing but praise for this amazing and beautiful place! I was in a silent Retreat at Isis Oasis for 8 days during October, 2019. The kitchen staff - ESPECIALLY - Linda and Theo, made the MOST delicious food I've had any where (outside of my own yurt) in years. They prepared vegetarian meals, 3 times a day, and most of it was Vegan. I'm Vegan, therefore I was so grateful for the food. Most of the Retreatants stayed in the Lodge next to the beautiful and clean swimming pools. The rooms in the Lodge are named after Egyptian Goddesses. I was in Maat. I LOVED my room. Clean, quiet and oh-so-peaceful. The rooms are beautifully decorated and come equipped with a mosquito net, although, I never found a need for it. I am Vegan for the animals, so Isis Oasis Sanctuary was like a piece or heaven for me. There are 100's of birds, goats, Imus, Llamas (Alpaca??), snakes, lizards, etc etc etc. On top of all of this, there is a Mother Tree, there that is over 600 year old and towers over the grounds as if to watch and protect. It is extraordinary. There are Egyptian temples around the area and periodic celebrations and rituals. The vision that Lady Loreon Vigne - the Founder of Isis Oasis - was/is so powerful that her beautiful creation lives and thrives on. The Divine Feminine is palpable throughout the grounds of Isis Oasis. Justin is a living treasure. He is one of the Priestesses at the Oasis. read more

All I can say is AWESOME. We had our Jewish wedding at Isis Oasis with 120 guests from a Friday night to Monday morning. This included the rehearsal dinner catering and ceremony catering. We rented the whole place, 65 beds, for a full 2 days and rented various cabins the other night. First, if you are thinking about Isis for your wedding, you should know that this is not the place you want to go if you are trying to have a 'perfect' wedding. As Lady Loreon says, "We don't do perfect". What they do do is offer a very relaxed atmosphere, awesome amenities, and fun for all your guests in wine country at a very reasonable price. This place is quirky and with it comes really happy guests and a relaxing weekend for everyone. The staff is amazing. They are not your typical catering staff, these are people that live on the property and are invested in the well being of the animals, buildings and atmosphere. They couldn't have been more helpful, charming and quirky (which we liked). We had tons of compliments on how helpful and genuine they were. I felt like they were guests at our wedding because they were so emotionally invested in making sure everything went according to plan. I was truly impressed. The food was a risk for us. We hadn't tasted it before or talked with anyone who had eaten it. All we knew was they used to operate a restaurant which has few, but great reviews. We just trusted that they would come through and be able to handle the volume of people. THEY DID! The food was priced way under any catering service and they did an excellent job. The timing and flow was amazing. This is not top of the line catering, but it was great buffet style food at a very reasonable price. Everyone was fed and happy. People went back for seconds and complimented us on the food. All the rooms and accommodations were clean and comfortable for everyone. Most of the accommodations are dorm style and even our NYC guests felt comfortable and relaxed. Everyone loved the pool, unique buildings, the animals, trails, people and vibe of the place. Plus it's about one driveway away from 'downtown' Geyserville, so no need to drive or shuttle around the entire weekend. Everything was in one location, which is so nice. If you are going to have a major event here, you have to be OK with trusting that they will come through without having a lot of oversight of their process and stressful planning. They have a mellow way about managing events, which may not be comfortable for some people. We are big 'planners' and their style might not have worked well for us, but for how unique the place is and how reasonably priced it was, we were willing to work with their style and trust that they would come through. I am so glad we did, it was the best decision we made for the entire wedding. We are still hearing compliments on the venue and all the fun stories that came out of the weekend. The entire wedding weekend went unbelievably well. For a pseudo DIY wedding, we couldn't have asked for anything better. Plus, getting married under a 600 year old tree is pretty amazing in itself. I can't thank the staff enough and Lady Loreon for her vision and leadership in creating such a unique place. We will be a reference for them anytime. read more

A comfortable, well appointed, and trippy place to stay in Sonoma wine country. We stayed in the cottage and it was spotless. My friend and I both wished it was our house, great windows and vistas, stained glass, comfy and attractive furniture, functional kitchen, plush king bed, and private hot tub. We picked fresh figs off the tree outside. This place is an experience and not for the traveler who prefers standard hotel amenities. Great place for cycling holiday. read more

I made a reservation for this place on booking.com about 2 weeks before our a intended weekend away. I reserved one of the private cabins. When we arrived after a really weird greeting I was told that sometimes booking.com doesn't send them the info when it's booked so while they had room in the communal space the cabin we had reserved had been rented to other people and was not available to us. I really just wanted a quiet weekend in a cabin with my wife, what we got was weird costumer service and no cabin and no accountability from the staff. read more

Isis Oasis is a retreat center for spiritual groups and individuals. Its a cross between a hotel/zoo/hippie retreat/wedding center. It is definitely a great place to have a down to earth, green family get together or a fun evening away for the girls. The hot tub, pool and private grounds make for a super fun getaway but make no mistakes this is a retreat center not a metropolitan hotel so expect a "Friendly Hostel" sort of feel. They have ocelots, parrots, peacocks and a location just a 15 minute walk from the river. They have AMAZING rates for weddings and whole facility rentals that include a lodge, a theatre, a full industrial kitchen and dinning hall. read more

I've been visiting Isis at least once a year for the last 12 or so. And I always leave feeling blessed to have this unique getaway available to me. It's difficult to make a comparison to any other retreat center I've ever been to, it's truly one of a kind. It wouldn't be fare to a Hyatt Hotel to ask where the Temple was located, or the exotic cat exhibit, or to expect to be joined by a wild turkey on your afternoon walk. Loren has carefully crafted a retreat center that's warm and friendly, relaxing, comfortable and completely unique. It's in a class all by itself and holds five stars. I can't recommend it highly enough. read more

DeTraci and her staff were wonderfully warm and welcoming! I didn't see any of the trailers/tents/encampments that other reviewers have mentioned; in fact, aside from DeTraci and two employees/volunteers(?), the place was empty. The temple and lodge are both well-maintained and have that genuinely rustic, boho-hippie vibe that used to be common in Sonoma County, but is now sadly fading away. It's not particularly slick or manicured, but much more comfortable and natural. I should note that I didn't stay here overnight, just dropped in for the afternoon while I was in the Geyserville area, so I can't speak to the overnight accommodations. We also got to see some of the many animals in their sanctuaries. They have many types of birds, from parrots and peafowl to emus and chickens. Some of the peafowl (some of which, I was told, were recent rescues) and chickens were free-ranging, wandering around the temple and a paddock that otherwise contained a llama, which regarded us with a certain amount of friendly interest. They also had four servals, which we also got to see. Unfortunately, the parrots and particularly the servals are housed in wildly inadequate environments - the servals were in painted wood frame and wire cages, about 6"x8", with concrete floors (mossy in some spots) and an enclosed wooden area for privacy. I didn't see any toys or opportunities for enrichment, just a pile of damp straw under a piece of corrugated plastic. According to DeTraci and her staff, these enclosures are about 40 years old, and they're in desperate need of an upgrade. The animals are clearly well-loved, with glossy coats or feathers, and their diet is good (I saw one of the servals being fed fresh raw chicken, and they also receive supplementary vitamins), but servals are naturally very curious, energetic animals, and I hope they can be re-housed in larger, more appropriate environments sometime soon. However, I think it's important to note that these animals are *not* suffering from indifferent or neglect - as I mentioned above, DeTraci and her people are very dedicated to providing their creatures with the best care they possibly can, given a limited budget and aging facilities. Hopefully a series of upcoming fundraisers can net them the money they need, because they do very vital work; the peafowl they had recently taken charge of would have been euthanized by Animal Control Services if Isis Oasis hadn't been able to take them in. read more

I had a great peasful stay at the hobbit house it was clean and comfortable. This place is unique I enjoyed it. There was a situation of double booking but miss Tracy made it up to me witch I appreciate she was very kind and gave me a lot a lot of helpful tips. The communication about reservation was a bit of a hustle but worth the efforts . There was a really nice gentleman with a dog that let me see the cats from really close I forgot his name I am sorry i am bad with names he is taking care - feeding the cuties- animals birds you name it. Yes so miss Tracy was really welcoming as well and few other staff members . The birds are so much fun. If you need a minute to get away and at the same time have animals love passed please visit . sweetness reeks from Sidney and peaches and Antonio and so many amazing birds and animals they do have unique cuties . Near by is Francis Copola winery witch is a good stop to visit as well . Ill definitely visit again. read more

Beware of the deceptive ad for the Isis Oasis Lodge! We felt this would be an adventurous place to stay, and oh my goodness this is an adventure we didn't want to take! The ad on Trivago was EXTREMELY misleading! It surprises us that this lodge was even considered a hotel with full amenities! The room we rented turned out to be a 10 X 10 hut that is situated in what looked like a homeless camp. The room had only a double bed and a nightstand, two windows without screens that were open to the woods, and an old dingy bedspread covering the bed.There is a shared bathroom with an outdoor shower, yes I said an outdoor shower, located in the middle of the camp. Several shanty looking structures were located around the huts in the woods. We were afraid to leave our vehicle in the "free parking lot" which is a small dirt area located in the middle of the homeless camp. We imagined having everything stolen from the back of our truck. One of the main reasons we rented this room was to take advantage of the spa pictured in the ad. Come to find out the spa was broken. This experience was so very disappointing because there was no way to cancel after seeing the room so we had to dispute the charges. We will be contacting Trivago to let them know we can no longer rely on their recommendations for rooms to rent! Stay away from Isis Oasis Lodge!! read more

Staying here was a truly terrifying experience. The accommodations were in no way clean and the entire compound was creepy and cultish. The owners of the place failed to mention that the house we rented was over a basement that people would be coming and going from with out our knowledge so that was a fun (horrible) surprise. Everything felt dirty, the animals were depressing, and the decorations were cultural appropriation at its worst. It was so bad we left the second night even though we payed and didn't get a refund. So, I used to go here when I was in college and I had really fond memories off all the beautiful cats and the funny pygmy goats. I went back recently and found it a bit disturbing. The founder/owner has since passed away and the business has reorganized as a nonprofit (I'm not sure it this status is based on religion or the work with animals?). So many surfaces are covered with cobwebs. They have a truck/van that says something like, Donate Money to Us, We Save Ocelots and we have 501c3 status. But they did not rescue these ocelots. They bought or even bred these ocelots and other exotic big cats like Servals. It's true, the founder used to BREED exotic big cats in San Francisco. They didn't save them. They brought them into the world to live in a cage! The cats sit all day in these depressing pens with dirt floors and cobwebby covered chain link fences with very little stimulation. And based on the way the cats are walking (gingerly and with a painful limpy gate) it really looks like they've been declawed. If you don't know about declawing, watch "The Paw Project" on Netflix or online. It's all about the massive pain and disfigurement that we do to cats when we declaw them. It's cruel and inhumane and there's a huge push to make it illegal. In many places it is already illegal. It's like cutting of the first joint of our fingers, but even worse, because we don't bear all our weight on our fingers. Other than these poor exotic big cats, I have to admit I enjoyed admiring some of the other animals like the emus, the alpacas, the exotic neon-colored pheasants, and the happily squawking and talking birds. Some of the employees/volunteers are really quite nice and helpful. And some are like hippies/alternative lifestyle people who have that judgmental thing going on. read more

I stayed at Isis just as a stopover as I was traveling through northern california. A very interesting place indeed! It was set up as an alternative, communal retreat and shared living space and now hosts all kinds of guests from families with kids to solo travelers to group retreats. Miguel was exceptionally welcoming and helpful - he is the groundskeeper and in charge of guests and built the adobe structures, outdoor pizza ovens, and sauna. The property is home to a variety of animals- llamas, bobcats, emus, goats, chickens, and friendly talking parrots and cockatoos! Many of the animals were rescues of some sort. There's a pool and jacuzzi and several different lodging options for guests -- big houses/lodges where you could come with a group or maybe rent individual rooms, a few trailers, and awesome custom-built adobe huts (where i stayed). I stayed in the "Hobbit Hut" and the name pretty much says it al. It was a cozy round hut with colored glass windows and a skylight, an electric heater built in, and a double bed. I was very comfortable and slept amazingly well. In the morning, I walked down the street to a nearby coffee shop and spent some time reading and walking around the grounds. At lunch, Miguel offered me some of his homemade pizza for lunch, which was delicious! I would vote it the most unique and enjoyable 24 hour stopover I could have asked for! read more
