This has become our favorite resort. We have never been this far south before (we've all ventured to FL) and by far most amazing food, accommodations, most activities, lawn games, most beautiful, and the best staff we've ever experienced! The bar and pool was mainly where we were at when we where having our resort hangout days. Ramone, Maria, Anna, and Tyler were the ones we interacted with the most and they were all so friendly, professional, and had amazing life stories to tell. The grounds were always kept so clean and beautiful, even after a storm we had one day. The staff were always walking around helping or cleaning or doing anything they could to make sure you were comfortable and enjoying your stay. The many pools were great as there was plenty of places to go without being crowded. The marketplace was great and had delicious food, the restaurant on site was amazing (separate review) the parking was perfect and not too far from rooms. The room itself was spacious for all five of us and the ability to have two bathrooms were great. Loved we all have a private patio/balcony off our rooms and they all face the beautiful water so you can see the sunset and sunrise every day. We can't wait to go back read more

A nice enough resort but, not even close to being worth the price. At about $1000 per night we have to wait four days before someone will clean our room due to "restrictions". Beach appears to be man-made and water just OK. We asked for ocean front and expected ocean front but, in reality that is only Oceanview. In fact, they really have nothing that would be considered oceanfront even though they claim their "Veranda" is. again, for the price very disappointed and will not be back. read more

What a dream of a resort!! Everything about this place is magnificent and the staff is very accommodating. The property itself is beautiful and very well kept. I highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet place to relax and just enjoy life! The only recommendation I would suggest is at the pools (not the main pool) to have some type of bar service. Loved the stay, then was double charged through agoda and the hotel, when I called the hotel 1/12/21 at 7:30 am was told to call my bank and she hung up on me!!! Horrible customer service. I called back and was put on hold and the lady never came back, Literally told me they double charged me and couldn't do anything about it, I would have to wait for the managers carla. Update: after we were told they would give us a credit, they charged the card again. After going round and round again. I think they fixed it will await the credits. Update 1/14- they only credited back one of the extra charges. Going to have to call the bank today to have the other reversed. Unbelievable that this has caused me total distrust to ever use a card to hold a hotel room. read more

They put us in a totally different room, which was very inconvenient to my family and I. Afterwards, they made promises they couldn't keep to try and make up for the inconvenience. THE ROOM WAS HORRRIIBBBLLLEEE!! For this to be a "luxury" resort, the build of it terrible. Thin walls, you can hear every toilet flush, every shower, people making out, everything. We didn't sleep at all. I recorded our entire night and the disturbances. No microwave on the property so if you order from any of the restaurants, you can't get it to go! I've stayed at a lot of hotels/resorts in my life and I have to say...so far day 1 here has been nothing but incredible. The friendliness of the staff is above and beyond. The marketplace coffee and empanadas are top notch. The rooms, are clean, modern and the view....OMG the view!! The pools are all heated with bar service from that incredible staff I was talking about. Tonight we may experience the Italian restaurant on site....but as an Italian executive chef and restaurant owner....I may look for a local Cuban place...love authentic Cuban food. As a local resident we are and were excited to see a new facility resort open with the thought in mind of it extending the Florida keys hospitality! This resort is a poor reflection of hospitality Especially for local residents. Having gone there the 1st time and being told that they were totally booked, that we couldn't even go to the beach bar because the bar was totally full! How does the guard at the gate know how full the beach bar is? Informing us there was no seats at the bar or on the beach or at the bonfire pits. Went back the 2nd time a few days later, had a nicer gentleman at the gate, allowed us in and we sat at the bar. There was nobody at the bar except for 4 people, the beach was empty though the restaurant seem busy. As for drinks, they are excessively expensive. Went back a 3rd time to try it the 3rd time to see if my impression was more positive. Only 2 of us asked the gate master if we could go have a drink at the beach bar, again we are told the beach was full, the restaurant was full and the bar had no seats available! It was not even happy hour but 2:30 pm. My question is, maybe if I showed up in my Mercedes would we have passed through the the gate keeper? What little I saw of the resort I've seen a lot better resorts that are truly 5 stars. There are more resorts in Marathon that offer the same amenities, the same views, better beaches, better food and a definitely a better attitude towards its local residents! I hope they remember this when summer comes and all the tourists have left. Maybe then they can keep their gate wide open. Never going back! read more

Was here the weekend of the feb 21 -24th. for starters alot good about this property probaly the newest cleanest hotel in the Keys , judging by reviewing other places and driving by them as we explored the whole keysfrom top to bottom. My memories just randomly thinking now, reflecting 2 weeks later, amazing property rooms are well apportioned,we had a room so far away from the lobby restaurants ,beach, main attractions, but the peace and quite being far away was a good trade. Able to make noise without worrying, the balconies could use some sort of divider/curtain/ anything to create little more privacy, anyone could look into your room from the next room over, prices were a little step for food and drinks, definitely go out and try the local fair (Burdines 4.5 star 1 mile away is a amazing place and great scene, Mile 7 grill is practically across the highway 3.5 star) the food here at the resort is good, just very expensive, the the daily happy hr menu 4pm - 6 pm is the way to go and able to watch the sunset which is amazing, we seen dolphins, whales barious types of birds, sitting next to the fire pits, met a lovely couple from the UK as we watched the sunset. Loved the Location in relation to the keys , Marathon Key is pretty much in the middle of all the Keys. Must try and get to Key West and see the sunset. Just remember traffic leaving most of the time is horrible back to the airports heading North( plan accordingly) and at times coming into the keys can be a challenge as well, this weekend was very windy and cold id probaly recommend late April travel because it was not fun not being able to enjoy the watersports due to weather. Definitely a great property but not a 5 maybe 4.5 after doing all inclusive in Cancun hard to give a 5 Natural white sandy beaches excellent food included for about the same price , the cost are Much more reasonable in Puerto Rico and Cancun . Really slower pace in the Keys lot more lively in Miami,Puerto Rico, and Cancun. Depends on what your vibe is for your Vaca. read more

This beautiful resort opened in April 2019 so I think they are still going through growing pains , I've listed the perks and areas of improvement if deciding to stay here. For reference I came here with my 5 yr old daughter. Positives: -Rooms are huge (we got two king beds ocean view). Great if little ones need a separate area to crash and adults can hang in the other room or patio. The two beds are separated by a hallway with a door. - Staff / Service are incredibly sweet and thoughtful (my kiddo was having a meltdown they gave her a sweet plushie , let us know what things were fun in the area or free on certain days). Staff are attentive at meals, food is quite delicious and great quality - 5 POOLS (4 small and 1 large) enough said - Grounds are well kept and beautiful. Our room was clean, furniture was nice and new / upgraded. Showers and bathrooms were fantastic. Areas of Improvement: - $50 PER DAY hotel amenities fee - that no one tells you about or how to take advantage of it (kayaking, snorkeling). Really shady. - No staff at any pools for drink/food service - Sound proofing is poor, request to stay on top floor - Bed sheets are really rough and not comfy (low thread count) - House keeping only makes your bed , doesn't touch anything else (literally nothing else). - Some of the amenities are closed down during the week (Burger Bar, Marketplace Shop). - It's kid friendly-ish not much for them to do (one giant connect four and chess set that gets put away at dusk). Would I stay here again? If some of the areas I listed were improved yes... if not probably skip it and not consider returning I took it down one more star because the resort didn't return my calls or emails about my experience and the crazy resort fees. The facility is beautiful and nicely kept up but calling this place a beach resort is very misleading. The beach area is absolutely disappointing and being there 5 days I only saw a handful of brave kids enter that stagnant water. Everything is overpriced but I guess that's the case at most resorts. Marathon is a bit of an older run down town, isla Bella is by far the nicest thing in that key. All the grocery stores, restaurants and convenience stores are very old and most of the locals (that don't depend on tips) are rude or just think tourists are annoying. Room service was only performed if requested. You call them to ask for towels or trash pickup etc. they definitely spent a lot of money in this place but I'll be surprised if it makes it long as there isn't much to it and it's expensive. Only free activities are the bikes and some kids treasure hunts etc. everything else costs extra, a lot extra. read more

This is a new resort with lots of growing pains. With that said, as guests, my family should not have been aware of the kinks. The resort does have beautiful views and is centrally located. However, it is NOT the luxury resort as advertised. There is no beach, as advertised. There IS a $50 per day resort fee, which is NOT advertised. We prepaid our stay; however, due to service issues, the General Manager, Gloria offered to refund one night's stay. That was two weeks ago, and we still have not received the credit back to our card. The service was mediocre when it was good. We didn't receive housekeeping without calling to ask. When our room was serviced, it was only to make the beds. The trash was not removed, nor were the bathrooms cleaned. On the day we checked in, we called to notify the front desk of a bee's nest on our balcony. It was not removed for 3 days. The staff was not friendly and seemed to lack the working knowledge required for their particular job role. The main pool was closed for repair the week we stayed and the other pools were kept locked, well past the time they noted for opening. Also, with the main pool closed, the smaller pools were overly crowded to include scuba and snoba classes. I expect to spend money on vacation; however, I want what I pay for. Restaurants on the resort are overpriced, under staffed and the food is subpar. HIGHLY SUGGEST GOING OFF THE RESORT FOR DINING!! Lots of local eateries close by with comparable pricing and much better food. We enjoyed Castaways, Sunset Bar & Grill, Keys Fisheries, Lazy Days and 7 Mile Grill. I would not stay at Isla Bella again and would not recommend this resort. read more

This resort has the worst service! It took over 2 hours to get our dinner on the first night. And the wait staff didn't care that they were taking so long. We had brought in fish that we had caught for the kitchen to cook for us the chef did do a good job with the food, but it was expensive, $40 a person! We went to a different restaurant another night which they also cooked our fish for $16 a person. We stayed through New Year's Eve. All the restaurants were booked and they didn't have an option for guests who had not made prior reservations. We were told that we could eat at the beach bar. When we sat down to order, we were told they were not serving food at thE beach bar. After arguing with the manager we were able to get food, but this is unacceptable! You are not made to feel like you are a valued guest. I think I have had better service at Wyndham hotel, then here. read more

Pretty disappointed in this resort. It's advertised as ocean front. There are no chairs on the beach to lay down. Most importantly, we stayed there 2 weeks ago, there's an issue with my bill. I've left 3 messages for a callback, can't get to a manager and finally spoke to someone who was supposed to be checking to make sure she could approve the removal of the false charges. (They didn't give us our $50 resort credit and we had a lunch charge on the bill listed for the day before we arrived...but it's been impossible to have that removed?!?!?!). Housekeeping was poor. They reused the towels that we put on the floor to have replaced. The sheets and duvet comforter were dirty. The resort was fine. Nothing special. I would've given it a 3 star, but the billing issue has really been annoying. We normally stay at Cheeca and were very excited for this hotel. Won't be back to this one! Can't wait to get back to Cheeca. I'd love a manager to care enough to correct my bill and speak with me. The guys at the bike rental were fantastic. Bikes are included and they were so accommodating and helpful. Resort was quiet and relaxing...just needs improved service. read more

Beautiful resort. We just stayed to celebrate my birthday. Everything is very clean and spacious. The staff aim to please and do a great job in doing so. Things to note: There is a $50 resort fee daily. The 4 to 6pm happy hour does NOT include drinks, only apps. They are delicious and worth the $5, order 1 of each. We were surprised they call it happy hour, but don't include drinks. You do hear noise from your room, so bring a sound machine for nightly sleep. The white, chalk sand gets all over your shoes, so leave the nice shoes at home. It takes off your polish too ladies. The burger bar at the resort pool is FANTASTIC! Best food and drinks. Wasn't impressed with selection or quality of food at The Marketplace. Food at Il Postino was very good, service slow. The sunset views are amazing. Beds are very comfortable. Even with the very minor things to note above, overall a 5 star experience for an extremely beautiful and relaxing resort. read more

The only reason I didn't give the resort additional rating is the lack of attention and service from housekeeping. The door handle to the patio fell off on the first day. I made three calls to get it repaired and they ended up showing up on the second morning of stay, which is when we were leaving. Also, several attempts at receiving washcloths and hand soap for sink went unresolved. Upon check out I mentioned this again to the front desk and she seemed totally uninterested in a conversation. She refunded the resort fee for one night, but did so without showing any concerns. Great hotel to stay, but don't expect housekeeping service to be responsive. read more

This resort has only been opened for a few months and it shows. We probably had to call the front desk 10+ times asking them for requests. The staff did not have themselves together yet. Our room was hot and they would not let us turn the temperature down which is unacceptable in the Florida heat. They promised us when we booked that there would be a beach but the only beach on the resort was disgusting and filled with seaweed which made it unsuitable for activity. The resort itself was outstandingly beautiful but the staff were very unexperienced and didn't seem to care about our concerns. Would come back if they got themselves together and also cleaned the beach. The highlight of the trip was the rentable jet skis the resort offered. Our jet ski tour host and the workers involved in the rental experience were amazing. read more

I've already recommended Isla Bella to 3 friends. The attention to detail and facility is top notch. Beautiful property, spacious clean and private. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. The frontline staff needs some work. They are going through the motions, not rude, just not committed to customer service. It's even more obvious in contrast to the facility. The soul of the staff does not match the image of the resort. This is based on my interactions with staff at The Marketplace cafe. That said, James at Dive desk resolved what otherwise would have been a big issue for our group. While I expect to pay premium rates for services, $4.00 for a pastry and $6.00 for cortado is excessive. Specially considering the $30 per night resort fee and $20 nightly parking surcharge. Overall, I love the openness of the resort. Much nicer than the newly remodeled Cheeka Lodge. Staff needs some experience in the service industry. Drop the $20/night parking rate. It makes the hotel look desperate to nickel and dime every guest. read more

A friend invited us to vacation with them at Isla Bella and I knew little about it when I went, but was blown away. It's gorgeous. It feels like you are at a luxurious Caribbean resort, but no need to hop on a plane. It's just a short drive from Miami. The staff was so friendly and the ocean views are amazing. A bonus? Seeing manatees up close, they visit their marina. The Marketplace may also be the best hotel shop I've ever seen and onsite restaurant Il Postino was delicious. An awesome place in general except the service or lack there of at the main restaurant. Why sit a party at a table for breakfast and completely ignore them for a half hour? Meanwhile other parties are also getting seated and they too are being ignored. So, the choice is to go elsewhere in the area to eat and not have to overpay for food whilst being ignored for service. That is our only gripe about the resort... otherwise, it's a beautiful clean place with incredible views of the water and very relaxing. read more

This is a beautiful resort with great rooms for families; our room had a bedroom with a king bed and bath and a room with two queen beds and another bath. Both baths were very nice with lots of time and detailed trim work. We were on the 3rd floor with a nice size deck overlooking the pools and ocean. The resort has a nice fitness center with three peloton bikes. Efrain was a tremendous greeter and the grounds are well kept and there was always room at one of the pools. The downside: food was average at best and crazy expensive for the quality. Stop at Publix and grab some alcohol to save $. Communications from the management are not always accurate. My wife and I just spent two nights at this resort and we had a great time. It seems like every room is oceanfront and the view is amazing. When you drive in to the place, you go through this windy tree and plant lined path that reminded us of going to some of the all inclusive resorts in Mexico. All of the grounds here are kept up very nicely, and are beautiful. Easy check-in. We had no trouble finding our room and getting our bags there, but they definitely have staff available to assist you if you need or desire. The room itself is spacious, clean and comfortable. There is one large main pool by the lobby, and then 4 smaller pools spread out along the sandy embankment that makes up the majority of the rooms. We loved the view so much from our room that we spent a lot of time just reading and relaxing from our balcony. We ate at the resort restaurant Mahina, and I did a separate review of it, but we really enjoyed it. There are some other cheaper options for food that we did not utilize through the beach bar and the "burger palace." They have scheduled activities each day listed on a calendar, but we did not see these going on or partake. We did see the yoga each day, as it was outside of our room, and seemed nice if you like that kind of thing. There is also a spa, which we didn't use, and a marketplace to get coffee, baked goods, water/beer, or do some shopping. Overall we had a wonderful stay at this resort. The only complaint I would have is the price. For the prices we had, I would expect it to include alcohol and/or food. read more

Stayed here for a week and the view and property are gorgeous! But unfortunately it ends right there, rooms are small and boxy with limited furnishings. Also walls are paper thin with every noise heard through out the night or day. We had daily issues with air conditioner, phone not working, maid service and lack of attention to such items as coffee or any other needs. We had requested a high floor and the manager was supposed to follow up on day 2 but no call. Very overrated for the price! Felt like we should have stayed at the Marriott down the street. Also asked for a late check out at 11:30 instead of 11:00 due to a work zoom meeting and was all but ignored. Will definitely not stay here again ! read more

This resort is definitely very new, and things need to be changed and added. The resort's marketplace closes at 5:30, which is inconvenient. If you arrive later to your room needing anything, you have to go somewhere else. Another thing you must leave the resort for is food. There is no room service and the restaurant closes very early. The Isla Bella offers beautiful rooms and pools, but that is about it. Also keep in mind there is no boat dock or marina. read more

As others have mentioned the property itself is very pretty and new. And the desk staff were very nice. But the other staff was nonexistent. We were at the far end of the resort and there are golf carts for transportation but no one in sight to drive us. The bars were closed at the pools by our room and no service. Oddly, there's no Jacuzzi on the property. Our room was never cleaned, They told us at check out it was a Covid policy? Hmm I think it's a cost cutting policy! Food and beverages were disappointing . I asked for a mudslide at the main pool bar they said they have no blenders. The resort restaurant tried to be something special but failed - valentines dinner was actually a small thigh piece of chicken with the bone and side vegetables that looked and tasted like seaweed. The outdoor Super Bowl party was canceled because of "high winds "and not being able to put up the viewing screen. So we went next-door to the Sunset Grill quite frankly had a much better time than we did the whole time at the resort. Our $1,600 reservation for two nights turned into $2,100 with resort fees and our Valentine's Day "kfc" dinner for 2! Way too much money for skeleton services and mediocre food. read more

I want to scream from the roof tops how amazing this resort is. If you're looking for a place to relax but still bring your kids, this is the place. Cleanliness to the point that everything still feels brand new. We felt at ease and relaxed even though traveling during COVID. Every effort was made down to pens provided to use to touch the elevator buttons. Gym reservations to keep attendance limited. Masks required anywhere indoors. We had a Luxe Ocean front 2 queen and were blown away. Very spacious, giant bathroom with large soaking tub, and the patio - I mean - you can't get this anywhere else in the Keys. Trust me - I looked. Balconies yes - walk outs on to the beach....no. We had a pool right outside our room that only ever had 1 or two other families or pool goers. The resort grounds are really beautiful and everything is walkable. We stayed at Hawks Cay for 2 days and planned to stay at Isla Bella for 2. But once we got here we ended up adding a day within minutes of checking in. There is a STARK difference between the two places. Hawks Cay - good of you want a villa rental where you can dock your boat, or just fish. Isla Bella if you want luxury and a place to relax. Plenty for my kids to do (9 and 14). We will 100% be back. This was a 5 star resort experience for sure! We had an amazing stay! I highly recommend a room on the first floor that walks right out to the beach. There is no bad room in this hotel and it's an excellent place to watch the sunset. There are 5 pools to enjoy and everyone is extremely accommodating! Our air conditioning was not working well so they changed our room and it was an upgrade which was outstanding and extremely generous! It has a Miami feel in the keys with all the amenities of a city resort in a beautiful, nature location. We will be returning for sure! It's a best kept secret that I would love to keep to myself so we will be sure to have it all to ourselves whenever we want! Thank you for making our trip so memorable! read more

There's a little marketplace store that sells all sorts of items - from shirts to bathing suits to home knickknacks, to ice cream and candies. The poolside grill has great drinks and snacks. The spa is my absolute favorite. I had a 90 minute cbd massage (Sheila is amazing, one of the best massages ever), and my husband got a 90 minute deep tissue massage (he said Gina was great). We came just the two of us, but plan on coming back with the kids. So relaxing - just what we needed. read more

This is NOT an oceanfront resort (see photo - it's beautiful, but we are facing trees and a harbor in the distance - not oceanfront), their is limited beach access (it is so small and surrounded by rocks that it isn't even enticing), the pool movie selection is not appropriate for small kids (curse words) and restaurant reservation availability is unheard of. When we called to ask about the oceanfront view that we do not have, the front desk clearly handles this question on a regular basis. If you book an oceanfront room here, make sure you ask for validation that it is in fact facing the ocean. read more
