Whirlpool range first technician came in September 2024 had to replace the control board on the range. We use this only to bake cookies at Christmas time. It worked perfectly in December of last year this year we went to use it and the clock went out and we were not able to access the oven so we called Island Appliance. They came out the next day and the technician took five screws out three in the front two on the sides, and when he took it out the wire, it was wiggling the wires and the clock would come on and off, so he knew it was a loose wire so he secured it with a couple of zip ties and I was charged $138 for diagnosis which he did not perform and then charge me an additional $80 to for yesterday's labor and I don't feel that I should have to pay the $80 because the first technician did not secure the wise properly I spoke to management I spoke to the owner. They were both extremely rude and I reported them to whirlpool that your contractor is not making your company look good in the best interest of their customers so I may be looking for a different company Appliance instead of whirlpool if I have to deal with them to repair anything else in my house, Franco G Romano read more

I experienced a first time issue with my washer ( under warranty). Island Appliance was responsive within an hour of leaving a message and provided an excellent technician, Anthony, who was polite, knowledgeable and efficient in diagnosing the problem. Anthony returned later with the part and was on time, called ahead that he was ten minutes away and again was highly proficient in his service. Not a good experience!! Bought a microwave at Island Appliance, we were told was to be delivered by the sub-contracted installer in a week. 10 days past and we called. "It will be next week", that passed (mind you, never a call from Island Appliance staff) so we called again. Microwave wouldn't be available for another 2.5 months. Ridiculous!! Called the manager, they took absolutely no responsibility. The statement received, "We don't make them. We don't have any control of the manufacturer." I asked but you could have called, apologized and asked... "can we help you with a comparable product?"... Oh, by the way, they didn't have any of those either and certainly nothing in stock. So....Costo.com.... bought a comparable product, delivered and came with above range installation... (it is a replacement so not as g big a job) but much better experience and they met all of their deadlines and regular communications.. 1 week from purchase to installation!! Had an issue with our 10 yr old refrigerator. Called around looking for repair yet no one could come out for almost a week! Island Appliance was very accommodating and was able to schedule us next day. The technician was on time and knowledgeable, however, the "solution" to replace a part was going to be 500 but, if that turned out to not be the issue, the compressor would be the issue and then be another 800-1200. At that point I'd have been in nearly 1500 with the service call and buying a new one for 2400 became the "sure" thing as opposed to gambling 500 and ending up with a new one anyway. Sales team is extremely helpful- we worked with Kristi who was familiar with our builder and was able to recommend a fridge that would match builder included appliances. We upgraded to a Blomberg stove and Kristi coordinated installation with the builder. It was seamless. When we moved in, the ice make didn't work and Island Appliances sent someone out (to turn the water on..... ooops). The price may be just slightly higher than purchasing at a big box store but the service you get is invaluable. Highly recommend. read more

If I could give them NO Stars I would. Island Appliance does not care about their customers, or the appliances they sell, once they are in your home. They feel they are done with you. There is no service department. You have to go through a third party distributor, Eastern Marketing Company, for all service calls. You do not get an invoice or any proof that you can use as evidence or on record, when the service company arrives or departs. When you ask, they never produce anything. Our initial call for service went through Kristi Johnson, who argued over the phone, and was upset we bothered her. She was actually our salesperson when we purchased the 6 total appliances. We had to provide photos and proof before she would connect us with a service company. WE spent over $9,000 on appliances in their store and this is how they treat us. All 4 kitchen appliances were made by the same company. They arrived in boxes and some did not work, or had issues, from the onset. After 10 service calls, in 3 months, during the initial COVID-19 Stay Home order, we had enough. We were forced to go through the manufacturer and distributor to get results. Even when they were willing to refund us our money and take back the appliances, Island Appliance refused to participate in making it right. The owner distanced herself and said it wasn't her problem. The current commercials advertised on tv or their website paints a totally different picture or image. They don't stand behind their products or their customers. Perhaps the high star reviews come from relatives. We did receive a complete refund from the joint efforts of the manufacturer and distributor, but had no cooperation from Island Appliance. It was even hinted to shop elsewhere for the replacements. We took that advice. We went to Atlantic Appliance and purchased all 4 kitchen appliances. The inventory was limited due to difficult shut downs of manufacturers during this Covid-19. Our new appliances were delivered and ALL worked straight out of the box. We will never shop at Island Appliance again. We hope others heed our warnings. read more

This is not about ISLAND APPLIANCE REPAIR, IT IS ABOUT ISLAND APPLIANCE RETAIL SALES ON Carolina Beach BLVD. Possible the most arrogant staff I have ever dealt with in retail. They do not return phone calls and do not give honest answers when you finally speak with them. I placed an order for a dishwasher weeks and weeks ago and when it finally came in i was told it was damaged and I could not have it. No further proof of this except they returned my deposit, never charged my credit card and told me to buy it elsewhere. They refused to try and get me another dishwasher from the same manufacturer. They offered no additional help at all after all these weeks of waiting. I have been told by a number of people to stay away, I should have listened. They are supposed to be a friendly family store with a friendly dog...they are not. Best bet is to stay away from them..I have been told that Atlantic Appliance is the better place to deal with. read more

We recently called Island Appliance to repair a broken beverage center. We checked first when making the appointment, asking if they had experience with these appliances. They assured us they did. A repair man came out, spent 10 minutes, said all of the internal parts had to be replaced, and charged us $100. We had to call Island Appliance back several days later because they never called us with an estimate. They told us the parts would cost $1,000 and they could NOT guarantee that the beverage center would work afterward. We contacted the company to request they refund our $100 since they provided no service. They became belligerent and refused to refund the $100. We will never do business with them again. read more

Made appointment with Island on Monday.11/9.At that time we were asked for the model and serial number of the machine and what the problem was. We gave the young lady the correct numbers and explained that the detergent dispenser door was not operating properly. Two techs arrived promptly on 11/11,opened the dishwasher door and agreed that the dispenser was broken. Long story short - they did not have the proper part on the truck.The tech advised that he needed to collect for the part in advance and the $75 service call for a total of $172 or they would not order the part.He also advised that there would be an additional $90 labor charge when they returned at a yet unspecified date.KitchenAid should find a new contractor. Is that any way to do business? I will never do business with Island again and will advise any one i know of this ludicrous way of treating a customer. C'mon, man!! read more

3 yrs ago I bought a house and needed a washer and dryer. I bought them used from Island Appliance. I had some trouble with the dryer at first, but I called them and they walked me through what to do to get it right. Dryer vent was clogged. They are still working like new, no problems. We ordered a washer and dryer 2.5 weeks early so that we could have them delivered on the date of our choosing. We were promised delivery on 7/11 and our sales sheet stated this fact. We made arrangements to be home on 7/11 and never heard anything. We called and were told that we cancelled the delivery. Then after being on hold for quite some time, we were told that the delivery order was never put in the system. How is this possible considering the sales sheet says "DELIVER 7/11/17"? We were told that they could not deliver the appliances until 2 days later. This means more missed work for us. Today we got a call stating that the appliances would be delivered between 11 am and 1 pm. 1 pm came and went and no one showed up. They did finally show up after their scheduled delivery window. This company has no respect for their customer's time and they do not deliver on the promises that they make. read more

I purchased 3 items from Island Appliance on 4/27/2017. They were delivered on 5/2/2017. I am remodeling my kitchen and having a very difficult time finding professional contractors so I requested that my dish washer, microwave oven and garbage disposal remain in their original box's. It is now 5/12/2017 and I still have not opened any of the Items because I still don't have my kitchen installers yet and I was worried about too much time going by and finding that they are damaged, so I called and spoke with an employee explaining my situation and asked what their return policy is because it was not on their receipt. To my amazement, they will not accept any returns for any reason! So if I decided I did not want to install a dishwasher or garbage disposal at all, I am stuck with the items even though they have never been opened. They refer you to the manufacture warrantee if there is any damage or problem with the items. Also, when they were to deliver my appliances on the 2nd they were late and did not bother calling even when I called and asked how much longer they were going to be and the lady said she was going to have them call me, another 20 min went by and I called again (I had an appointment I was now late for) the Manager Carline finally calls after they had delivered the items, almost an hour late, and said " the driver couldn't call you while he was driving!" in a very nasty condescending way. I replied, " there were two guys who delivered the items," She said "yes." I said, " the second guy could have called me to let me know they were going to be late." She said, "maybe". read more

We recently built a new home and the builder chose to purchase our appliances from Island Appliance on Carolina Beach Rd. We have lived in our home for less than 4 months and 3 of the 4 kitchen appliances purchased from Island Appliance have broken: an LG microwave, LG gas range and refrigerator. The most recent inoperable appliance is the gas range which exploded in my face Thanksgiving morning. We immediately disconnected the gas line and called Island Appliance to report the incident, requesting a return call the following morning, to no avail. After I was stonewalled and requested numerous callbacks, I drove to meet with someone at Island Appliance in person. Each time I had spoken to an employee at Island Appliance, I was redirected to the manufacturer or the service company. I met with owner, Carlene Swartz, who ultimately continued to 'redirect' me to LG or a serviceman. After she stated that she would 'work on it and contact me later in the day', (11/28/16) I waited for her call - once again, NO returned call. I called her and was told that she had no information for me. I again called the owner today (11/29/16) at 3:45, after not receiving her promised call. She at that time said "I'm sure LG will call but I will not help you" and hung up. She, Carlene Swartz, has refused to provide a remedy for an extremely dangerous situation. As we have researched further into this matter we have learned many other disturbing facts about Island Appliance. We will be pursuing this further as Island Appliance refuses any responsibility for potentially deadly situation. read more
