I was in need of a beach chair that Sat higher due to a recent knee replacement. I bought 2 chairs that I thought would be good. When I got home I realized neither chair was high enough. The next day we tried to return the chairs. We were not told they were not returnable when we bought them. We were told they were not returnable. We were told they was nothing they could do to help us. We were disappointed because the return was due to a medical issue. What a huge disappointment we have been buying beach supplies there for years. Needless to say we will no longer buy their products or recommend them to others. read more

Ordered a custom made beach chair for almost 300 dollars..used it half a dozen times...handled it with kid gloves since it was so expensive...talked it up to friends and strangers who admired it on the ocnj beach...a screw broke and the seat sank...i called and emailed with pix to island gear and the chair maker, telescope...no help or reply from either....can't believe i spent so much money on such a cheaply made chair. read more

I ordered a chair canopy online as they carry Telescope chairs and there prices are the best I could find, locally as well as on the internet. The order was straight forward and the package arrived a day later via UPS, looking like it had gone through the war. The frame had bent, I called the store and they had offered to replace it with another canopy, they emailed a return label and a new one would be sent out once they received the damaged item. Over the weekend I decided being that this place is only an hour away from me I would take a day trip and swap it out myself. The store is located at the first traffic light coming off the causeway bridge I almost missed it. Once I got inside they were very helpful, the same girl I spoke to on the phone the previous day helped me. The transaction was seamless, and the owner came up to me and apologized that I had to come in to swap it out. Not being from the area I asked the clerk for recommendations on what to do as well as where to eat, she was very helpful with suggestions and even had a map. read more

I wanted to order two zero gravity chairs from Island Beach Gear, each of which had an online sale price of 199.99 (which is an amazing price for the model I wanted). When I put the two chairs in the cart, the total was about $100.00 more than it should have been. I called the store, and they could not have been more friendly and helpful. Their website had gone down the day before, and apparently there were some ongoing glitches. The staff member who helped me (I wish I knew her name...she was wonderful!) manually entered my order so that I could purchase the chairs at the sale price. They were delivered the next day. The chairs are stylish and comfortable and look great on my screened porch. When contacted Island beach gear company- I was told that they only have a 30 days warranty and I should contact the manufacturer. Looking for a an extra weight capacity beach chair. Had ordered several over the internet that I was not happy with. By chance, Island Beach Gear came up in one of my searches and it happened to be close by. I called and spoke to Adam who was extremely helpful on the phone. He walked me through 4 choices I had as I looked at them on their website. I really appreciated his no rush approach on the phone. I said I would be down the next day and unfortunately he wouldn't be there, but he recommended I speak with Austin. When I got there, Austin was just as helpful as Adam. Brought all the chairs out for me to try and gave me the pros and cons of each. No rush service and very helpful. I wanted to write this more for management to know what two gems they have in Adam and Austin. These two young men gave outstanding customer service. In the end, I narrowed my choices down to two chairs and couldn't decide on one, so I bought both. read more

I bought a beautiful lounge for my balcony. It came to me well packaged and free shipping which is always nice. The customer service representative was very, very nice. When I put the outdoor lounge chair on my balcony, it did not fit.. I contacted Yvonne an agent that I had spoken to from the beginning and she told me not to worry whatsoever. She scheduled a pick up with UPS right away for my return. I am such a fan of this company... It was like Yvonne was so nice on my buying the lounge chair and was as nice when I wanted to return it... She just wanted to make me happy and showed it by no questions asked easy return policy. I've never had such an easy transaction in buying the item and also returning it.. You cannot beat their prices and stock of great outdoor items. Good selection of chairs and beach gear but they don't stand behind their products. Purchased (2) Telescope Casual Beach Chairs because my previous one lasted over 15+years. One of the chairs I purchased last year had an apparent defect since the metal tubing bent out of proportion. Stopped by the store and spoke to manager who said without a receipt there really wasn't anything that could be done.The sticker that they apply to the chairs with their logo was still on it as well as the manufacturer's serial & model #. Who saves a receipt for a beach chair? Very disappointed with the customer service especially when they apply their own sticker with logo to a $90 beach chair and its apparently just there for free advertising and nothing else. read more
