I have driven by here a million times and other people have told me it was delish! So finally decided to grab some dinner from here and it did not disappoint!!! Got the curry chicken dinner. It comes on a bed of rice and beans plus two sides. Of course had to get the mac n cheese and though I'm not a huge cabbage person, I have it a whirl. Plus grabbed beef hand patty. The portions are generous! The chicken fell off the bone, it was so tender. Mixed it in with the rice and so very tasty! Mac n cheese was great and the cabbage was good too. The hand patty was also amazing...flakey crust and definitely coming back for more. It's a great local joint. The greatest little hole in the wall you've past by and need in your life. Island Breeze is tucked away in a little shopping center off brownsboro right by subway. Blink and you'll miss it. The curry goat comes with rice and peas, plus two sides (I picked mac and cheese and greens) The dish is huge and very delicious. If you have never had goat there are bones you must deal with, but trust and believe it is worth it. The mac and cheese was fine, the greens a little too sour for my taste, but maybe that is your thing and you might like that! Anyway the man running the show was very personable and kind, and he really wanted to make sure you were enjoying yourself. Oh one weird thing, you order and eat but pay at the end. I got the goat curry and my wife had the oxtails. The goat curry was fantastic. The meat was tender and the flavor was balanced and delicious. The curry dinner comes with rice&peas and two sides. The rice&peas were phenomenal, and the greens + mac&cheese sides were great. I didn't get to try the oxtails, but they looked amazing and my wife said they were great. She raved about the rice and peas, so it's unanimous. The couple running this restaurant used to live in Jamaica and the husband has experience cooking at a restaurant back in Jamaica. It shows. The quality, quantity, and value for the price is great. I hope the word catches on and they are super successful, because this place is way too good to not succeed. read more

This place is easy to overlook but definitely a hidden gem. Not a big place but ambiance is relaxed and the music is nice. The service was fast and easy and you pay when your food is ready. Don't believe the hype! Whoever write these reviews must be friends and family. This was the absolute worstCaribbean food I've ever tasted. The cabbage was bland and had no flavor. The beans and rice was bland with no flavor. And the oxtails were the smallest oxtails I've ever had and the taste was mediocre at best. Don't let the pictures fools you. It's just a bunch of sauce. The people saying this food is authentic are not being truthful. I've eaten at many Caribbean restaurants and my current girlfriend is from Barbados and I was in a relationship with an African girl for 5 years and there is nothing authentic about the taste of this food. Not to mention my girlfriend's cousin ordered extra oxtails and was given a few oxtails so tiny they fit in a cup small enough for just sauce and was charged $10!! Then the music they were playing was some 1960 Loui Armstrong R&B. I have never been in a Caribbean restaurant that didn't at least try to play some authentic music. The food was so bad we literally took a few bites of it and threw it away then went back out to get something else to eat. Don't waste your time or your money! read more

Wow! I've been to Jamaica twice and this place totally took me back again. From the start, the lady who took my order (which I assume was the owner) took so much pride in the food. I got oxtail, ribs, rice, cabbage, mac & cheese, greens, and plantains. I cannot tell you which item was my favorite, because they were all equally delicious!! The cabbage had a sweet flavor, the greens were cooked to perfection (not too salty) and the mac & cheese was very unique with herbs. I regret not getting the sweet potato pie, but this gives me a huge excuse to go back soon. It is rare that a meal out makes me smile and I talk about it the whole time that I'm eating. Great food!!! My dad and I were just there, and the food is amazing and the owners are very friendly. My dad had the jerk chicken and greens as a side. He said he really loved the flavor of the jerk juice / pot liquor and the meat was tender and great. He also said he loved that the greens were fresh and not cooked to mush... so many places over-cook greens until they are mushy, but these still had their structural integrity, so to speak. I had the curry goat dinner and it was great too. It had some bones and cartilage, as goat always does, but the meat fell right off the bone and the curry sauce was delicious. The fried plantains were some of the best I've had... crispy and flavorful. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff, especially the sweet potato pudding cake! read more

The absolute worst nastiest place I've ever been to the cook had dry mucus in his nose had just came from outside smoke when we pulled in and scratched his butt crack and never washed his hands and we really watched in fear as a little kid ran out the back I guess their child but he was very rude cursing at them, and I watched as they microwaved food that was old and dry probably cooked hours ago and we left only ordering sodas. I had the Escovitch it was season very well had a slight kick which was good for me I don't care for very spicy food. The rice and beans could uses some Thyme little salt and pepper. Steam cabbage needed a little more seasoning green pepper and onion salt and pepper, or fix it Ital with sweet potato carrot cabbage green pepper and onion.
