I used to like this place until they ruined my $200 All Saints sweater. It feels like it was washed in a machine and when taking it in they wouldn't even take responsibility or apologize for the error. It's messed up that they cannot take responsibility I was told to 'call the manufacturer'. Absolutely ridiculous. I will never trust this place with my clothes ever again. read more

I hate to give a bad review but this dry cleaner was the worst I've ever seen they left stains and spots on my clothes each time I brought them in. Sometimes , there were more stains on my clothes than they came in with. The owner was very nice and redid several pieces free of charge. But again, Many shirts came back stained again. I've never had this experience before. Consistently clothes coming back stained. Don't waste your money here. read more

4 stars only because it was 15 bucks to tailor a shirt! Judas Priest! That's a lot! But I can say that it was pretty much worth it because the shirt came out PERFECT. He barely even pinned it at all and it came out gorgeous. I was at UPS next door and was going to head to El Cajon for a tailor-but this guy was right next door. Lucky for him! Do NOT go here for alterations! They can't follow simple instructions and the work they do do, is doodoo. My dog could probably do a better job. I brought a dress and two bikini tops for alterations. I wanted halter straps put on the dress and the ribcage shortened on the bikinis. I went to pick up the dress and when I tried it on, I could see that one of the straps, where it attached, was sewn crooked so that it buckled. Also, the straps were attached beneath the top of the dress, so when it was on, the top folded down. I asked them to sew the straps all the way to the top and fix the buckling. I then showed the man exactly what I wanted done to the bikinis. I repeated it several times and physically pointed out what I wanted done. They were to undo the stitching, remove two of the buckles, and reattach the fabric to the remaining buckle. It was simple. I would have done it myself had I had a sewing machine. He said he understood and I asked him if he was going to write the instructions down for the seamstress (if you can call her that). He said he was going to tell her directly. I came back again to pick everything up. The dress strap had been sewn again, but it still did the same thing. Upon further inspection, I saw that one strap was attached with light blue thread (the color of the dress) and the other strap was sewn with black thread. Really? That's laziness and/or inattention to detail. The dress had been pressed the first time, but this time, it came back wrinkled. Then I examined the bikini tops. They did not do as I had instructed. All of the buckles were left on and the fabric was simply cut shorter. They didn't finish the ends of the elastic, either, so there is white glaring against dark colors. The bits of excess threads weren't even trimmed off. Top quality work. Fail. I can't believe I had to pay for that. They offered to fix the problems, but I thought, "You've 'fixed' my dress twice now, you really think I'm going to let you 'fix' it again?" The bikinis can't be fixed. It was a one shot deal. All of the material is gone. I have to either wear them the way they are (they look ridiculous with 4 fasteners/clasps so close together, or throw them out and be out the money I spent to buy them and the money I spent to alter them. Looking back, I should have hand sewn them myself, but I assumed (wrongly) that a 'professional' could do a better job. I will never go there again, not even for dry cleaning. They do not deserve my business. Go to Crown Cleaners on 10th, as that is where I will be taking my business from now on. read more

This review is based on Island Cleaner's ability to clean leather, only. I traveled with my leather jacket and during the flight my hairspray leaked out on the jacket. Thankfully, just in two spots, but I still wanted the spots removed. Island Cleaners advertises leather cleaning on their storefront window, so I decided to stop by and talk to them to see if they could get the spots out. The man said they would spot clean the jacket and the spots would most likely come out, but might have some water lines around where the spots used to be. That sounded good to me. I picked up my jacket and it looks even worse than when I dropped it off. I am very unhappy, and I still had to pay the 40 dollars for the cleaning. The spots are not lighter, and now there are water spots around the preexisting spots and the whole jacket feels crispy now. Save your leather, take it elsewhere! read more

If you need your clothes dry cleaned, fine. If you need tailoring, look elsewhere. I had several items in & I could have done most of them better myself. Reason I didn't do it myself: I didn't want the items to LOOK as though I did it myself! Don't waste your money here! read more

I'm embarrassed to say I chose this cleaner because it was the shortest walk from my house and and because they accepted American Express (that way it was easy to get my husband to pay for his cleaning out of his wallet!). I've been going there for almost two years now and they have never made one mistake with our clothes, sewed on many a button for us, and have always been very friendly and willing to please. They recently added send-out shoe repair to their services...haven't used it yet, but will when the need arises. read more

It's tough to give this place only 2 stars because the woman was so nice. However, business is not about being nice, is it? Anyhow, we stayed at a nearby hotel and wanted some clothes to be "fluff and folded" and they were haphazardly folded. Part of the reason I am willing to pay $3 per pound (which is reasonable,) is so I don't have to fold the things and babysit my laundry all day at a laundromat. Well, all my clothes were folded but wrinkly. Most likely, they either waited too long after the dryer stopped to fold my clothes, or, more likely, they just folded with little care. To top it off, the clothes were jammed into a bag(s), which compounded the issue further. (My current fluff and fold takes much more care, and my things are not wrinkled. In this case, aI was vacationing so I did not have much choice.) Glad to be back at home, with my regular fluff-and-folder. read more

I would give island cleaners zero stars but thats not an option. I had asked them to sew on a button and spot clean my dress. When I went to pick up my dress it did not look like they spot cleaned my dress at all. All the stains were still there. And the bottom was sewn on, however, it was sewn on on the wrong side. So I couldn't even button my dress up. And they still charged me. read more

I have more than 4 years taking my clothes to this Cleaner, my office,walking distance. Very customer oriented business. My shirts well press, i learned that they are hand press,is a plus. My suits so well clean. My clothes always ready on day promised, i use sometime same day service is superb. i definitely recommend this cleaner. read more

I do my dry cleaning here. They are very friendly and usually have the the dry cleaning done within a couple of days. I imagine they can do it faster, but I've never been in a rush. read more
