The dresses were not in great condition when I brought them in, but she cleaned them up to a pristine condition. I was really hoping to like this place based on the reviews I've read that led me to come here. Unfortunately, I didn't get the same, stellar quality service and treatment that would have me give this place 5 stars. I was here some weeks ago to have 4 pairs of pants hemmed: 2 slacks, 1 denim, and 1 sweatpants. My boyfriend and I arrived later in the day, and the lady who helped us was nice and cordial, though conversation with her made us feel a bit uneasy. She asked us the following: "Where do you live?" "Do you not have someone in your neighborhood to do alterations?" Ouch. Why yes, there is a shop in our artsy, historic, trendy neighborhood, but they were closed. Either way, we still chose Luxury Cleaners and mentioned we picked this place based on Yelp reviews. You would think telling her that would have meant something. She then offered to have me try on all my pants to measure the correct hem (as expected), but then she changed her mind after I said yes. I even wore my Doc Marten boots, which were the default shoes for all of the pants except the sweats. I could also easily change pants without taking my boots off. But as if she came up with a better idea, she asked if I knew my inseam. I said no. All of my pants fit me different. Still, she took just one pair of my slacks and held it against the slacks I was wearing and eyeball-measured the length. From there, that was the measurement for all four pairs I brought in. Either she knew what she was doing and was *that good* or she cut major corners because she didn't want to take the time for true accuracy. No tailor or seamstress has ever done this to me before. They always had me try each pair of pants! And one major detail: I told her to please remove the elastic cuffs from the sweatpants. She muttered my request back to me as if to confirm, though she didn't seem all that present with me. I noticed that she took no notes whatsoever. She must be that good. My boyfriend and I came back the following week after Christmas for pick-up. The elastic cuffs were reinstalled on the sweatpants. I reminded her that I had wanted the cuffs removed. Her response, "Why didn't you tell me?" Unbelievable. How dare you gaslight your customer! She offered to remove them, but I wasn't willing to come back and risk another mistake that would make things worse. She already messed up and I couldn't see how she could possibly make this better. As if I wasn't livid enough already, when I tried the rest of my pants when I got home, they were a bit shorter than I would have liked. Had she taken the time to have me try on each pair, we would have gone over how many breaks (creases) I preferred at the bottom to find and pin the right measurement. Instead of looking good on boots, now my pants look better on the likes of flip-flops and flat shoes. Any shorter would have been high-water territory. I'm so disappointed and reliving this with my review is upsetting me all over again. The "Luxury" in Luxury Cleaners is very misleading. This lady makes this place seem to favor and cater to Coronado residents only or military. Maybe I should have brought my 30-year Navy Veteran, Retired Master Chief father to secure proper respect and top-notch service. He was stationed in Coronado in the '80s. read more

I went there to clean my ferragamo shoes and they screwed them up. When I went to speak to the owner she said she would not pay me back for my shoes and she had them for almost 2 years that it took for them to fix. Worst service ever. DO NOT GO THERE. I took my bridesmaids dress to get altered here. I told them I'd like it hemmed and taken in. When I got the dress back from them I had to hop on a plane for the wedding so I wasn't able to try it on. I told them I wanted it to touch the ground and it is so short up to my ankles! In the back the stitching is all rippled down the back. The dress looks absolutely awful. Not to mention it costs $110 to alter, more money than the dress costs to begin with. I'm sick to my stomach as this is my brothers wedding and what I have to wear to it. :( read more

WORST TAILOR IN CROWN TOWN By far the WORST tailoring experience I have ever had. Laughable, almost. I called because I knew I had to schedule the tailor to be in. The only time available was a Monday morning. Which conflicts greatly with my routine, but I showed up. She was late. After the fitting, she said it would be about a week for pick up. That's fine. I brought it in two weeks ahead of MY schedule so I knew the dress would be completed on time for me. About a week and a half after the fitting, I go in to collect and pay for my items. SHE HADN'T EVEN TOUCHED THEM. Like... for real? As soon as the tailor saw me, she grabbed my dresses, made an excuse "that they were in the wrong spot" and forgot. Yet somehow she knew exactly where they were when I entered? Does not compute. She said she could do a rush. And to come back about 3 hours later. I pick up the dresses without trying on. Wow. What a mistake. Not only are these THE WORST seems I've ever seen, she didn't even remove the fabric from taking in the dresses. Which, I'm actually thankful for, because now they're not ruined. I had a comforter, that I've had washed for over ten years, at other dry cleaners with no problems. However, when I removed it from the plastic, it absolutely stank...never smelled anything so rancid. Okay, I proceeded to use it last winter and took it back this year and when I removed it from the plastic, it stank just as badly. I smelled it when I was picking it up and they agreed to wash it again...I thought that was at least good news, and when I went back to pick it up, I immediately removed the plastic and it was okay. All good! not so fast! I had a very nice black jacket with white piping (which I did not check when I picked it up)...it was a winter jacket, so I left it in the plastic for several months. When I took it out to wear it recently, the piping was a combination of grey, yellow and red! I took it back and told them that I wasn't "Van Gogh" and couldn't have possibly caused this collage of color problem in what was supposed to be white! They tried to fix it, but to no avail...I will have to throw it in the garbage. I have had many items cleaned over the years in other Cleaners, but never had these problems, they tried to fix them, in all fairness, but the damage was done! read more

I took a pair of chukka boots in for a minor repair, the shoe tongue was slipping to the outside on the left shoe. They had the shoes for a week, I picked them up and found they stitched the tongue into the position I was trying to have corrected. The shoe now has a fold below the tongue and they put a big knot on each shoe right above the instep. I used to take my dry cleaning there because it was convenient and they usually do a good job. But this was my first shoe repair experience. $20 for two obviously misplaced and poorly installed stitches. The lady said "she did the best she could" referring to whoever made the repair, as if I brought them in some near insurmountable problem to fix. They offered to keep them and try again but it was obvious at that point that whoever was doing this was not a cobbler or trained in shoe repair. Nice people but not shoe repair people. I'll take them elsewhere. I learned a 20 dollar lesson. read more

Contrary to the positive reviews, I had a poor experience here. I arrived in town on Friday with a wedding to attend Saturday afternoon. I had a jacket and dress, and after unpacking, they needed a press. I jumped on yelp, found these beaming reviews, and went in here. The person who took my clothes was impolite, but maybe it was a bad day for her. That was Friday afternoon at 1:30, and they told me they would have it ready by 4pm, or they would open the next day at 7am. The rehearsal dinner was earlier and farther than I realized, so I had to opt for the next day. 7am was a perfect time to pick it up. Well, it turns out they open at 9am on Saturday, which must have been a brainfart. But an awfully frustrating and time consuming one, which made a stressed out bridesmaid even more stressed. I come back at 9, and the dress looked awful. The bust was pleated, and they were all scrunched and bad looking. I ask them to redo it to make it look nice, and the fellow there informs me that it will look nice once worn. He then mentions they don't do any pressing on Saturday. He pulls the bust out and tries to arrange the pleats, but it won't fall into place. It obviously didn't get pressed well. He said that was the best he can do. When I repeated that to him, asking "this is your very best work?" - he put his head down and said he'd make it right. I was able to pick it up at 9:30, done professionally. They refused to make any financial consideration for the inconveniences. At least they ended up taking some pride in their work. One jacket and the dress came to $15 for a pressing, which seems a bit steep but within reason. Still, I wouldn't go back. read more

I brought the handmade, sixty year old, lace wedding gown that my grandmother had worn into Maryam just to see if there was any hope in reviving it enough to be wearable for a short while during my wedding ceremony in August. Not only was she able repair the ancient brittle lace, but she rebuilt the bodice to fit me and reinforced the back so that I could dance the night away in it!! Luxury Cleaners was even able to clean this delicate, vintage dress to perfection. :). I have a one of kind gown to wear for my entire wedding day, thanks to this wonderful crew. I am now going to be the third generation in my family to get married in this family heirloom. The woman informed me it could be available the next day, but I wasn't in any rush and chose to pick it up two days later. Still a lot faster than what base could do and all for $20. The second time I went was to have a dressed hemmed. I needed it shortened by an inch and a half. She charged me $20 which I thought was extremely expensive for a dress of simple design but that was entirely my fault because I told her I needed it by the next morning and I had dropped it off at 4pm! I hate this place. I went here twice to get a couple patches sewn onto my uniform. Only reason I came here a second time was because I felt like I was forced to. I had a uniform inspection coming up and I had to go to this place because I knew they had plenty of experience with sewing military uniforms, and the tailors on base were always so busy. Anywho, there's this Asian employee there who has serviced me both times, and both times she was rude as hell and I felt like they overcharged the hell outta me. Not sure if it's just standard Coronado prices, but I still cringe at the prices. I literally only had to get two patches sewn on....and they charged me $10. For TWO patches that would literally take less than 5 minutes total...and I didn't even ask for dry cleaning. Sure, I asked for it to be ready in 2-3 days but seriously, what the hell? Inflation is a bitch. The last time, upon entering, she didn't greet me---just looked at me. I told her what I wanted, then she asked me what day I'd like it ready. Not wanting to be ripped off again by having a "rush" order, I asked her when's the soonest date she can have it ready. Yet she asks me the same question again instead of answering my question, this time in a rude tone to match her rude actions. I had to get just one patch sewn on, no dry clean again, and she charged me $7. Three dollars less, and I even gave her more time instead of it being a rush order. She explained it was because of the jacket material. I won't be completely biased here. The first time, I did ask for a sooner ready date. Both times, they had to remove the previous patches before sewing on the new patches. And they had to do all this on a jacket. I still hate how much I had to pay for something that could take 10 minutes max as well as mix that along with the rude service. I hope I never have to come back. read more

I came here since it was recommended to me from the uniform shop on base. I needed two patches sewn on a jacket, dry cleaning and a hem. When I dropped off my two items they told me I pay at pickup, but they didn't give me a price. The lady was hard to understand and didn't seem very helpful. They said come back Monday. I came back around 1100 on Monday and they said, come back after 5. My husband ended up picking up our items and was charged $62!!!!!!! $7 for the dry cleaning of the jacket(not even the pants!) $25 for the hemming, and $30 to sew on two patches!!!!!! I will not be coming back. Especially after I read other reviews and see they charge other people $10 to sew on patches. No wonder they didn't give me a price at drop off.
