This place always reminds me of my Belizean food. The Jamaicans call it rice and peas but as a Belizean I call it rice and beans. Nonetheless their food is oh so good! The rice and peas are seasoned to perfection. The jerk chicken is so juicy and delicious and not too spicy which is excellent. Of course I must get my fry plaintain! This place is so nostalgic to me. From the great tasting food to the familial environment, I can honestly say that this place is one of my All-Time favorite restaurants. Growing up, I would frequent Island Delights on weekends with my friends for laughs and great food. I now live in D.C. and no other Jamaican restaurant has been able to compare to the quality and authenticity found here. I've probably had just about every Caribbean dish on the menu and haven't been disappointed yet! I will say that some of the menu items may not be available right away as Ms. Donna (Owner & Chef) and her team take no short cuts when preparing the dishes. However, you can guarantee that the prepared dishes are fresh and delicious, and you receive more than enough food for the price paid. This was definitely worth the drive... I had a friend on Facebook who constantly raved & posted pics of their food! So of course I had to try for myself. Very easy to find & park. The staff was super friendly. I honestly wanted to try everything on the menu but I ordered the "small" curry chicken which came with 2 sides & the portions were very generous - I still had enough for day 2!!! Very reasonably priced. Everything was seasoned to perfection & absolutely delicious. This is by far my new favorite Carribean restaurant & quite possibly my new Friday night eatery ... Offers a great deal for their lunch special & the food doesn't take too long to prepare when you walk in depending on the amount of customers there. I usually go on my lunch break which isn't too busy, but closer to dinner is when I would suggest calling your order in so it's ready at arrival. They also offer GrubHub I noticed. Unassuming place in a small strip mall, my daughter (Shenandoah student) suggested it. Jerk chicken, why not! Well, turned out to be a great choice. The jerk chicken is awesome and even the sides (beans & rice, steamed cabbage) are delicious. I could eat that jerk sauce with a spoon! Unfortunately we were the too early for the curry goat (still cooking) but our server brought us out a taste of the curry chicken...soooo good! We had a nice meal here. The ladies who served us were friendly. The jerk chicken and brown stew chicken were very tasty. I was not a fan of the rice. It was crunchy and not very flavorful so next time I might try a different side. The cabbage was good, I would get that again as a side. read more

So glad we found this place. To summarize...my husband said it was the best meal we've had since moving here 8 months ago..I agree. The service was awesome. We ate here on a weeknight. Our party of three was the only group eating in, though there were several people during our visit getting carry out. We had jerk chicken, oxtail, and curried goat between us and each meal came with a bowl of delicious cabbage and a large mound of red beans and rice. It was delicious - all of it. We couldn't possibly eat all of it and happily took it home for the next day. The only strange thing was the tea; it tasted like hibiscus or something super sweet and unidentifiable. So, maybe get bottled water or beer. Still, five stars and I can't wait to return. read more

The food in this place is awesome. I have eaten here several times. I have had the Ox Tail ($14.99) and worth every penny. I have had the Jerk Chicken a good version of the Caribbean staple. The Stew Meat is also a great dish with it's nod to Pot Roast. I have also tried the Beef Patties. They are good but not special. What is special is the cabbage that comes as a side with the main dishes. I would go there again just for the cabbage. The only issue that I have found with this place is the service. It appears they are having a hard time finding a good fit for the server position therefor the kitchen staff appears to be doing the serving. The other minor issue I have with this place is that there is usually no parking available in the 'strip mall' parking lot. I have learned to park in the lot next door. Overall this place is awesome. The food is already dead on and the staff is just a matter of time. I think this place should last for a long time. read more

I was a bit disappointed with my experience. I arrived at 11:05 am I was told that I could not order from the lunch menu because they don't serve those portions until 11:30. I ordered the jerk chicken small dinner portion with a side of plantains the rice and chicken we're extremely dry and had no flavor both items looked like they were saved from the previous day. The 2 stars are for the plantains needless to say I won't be returning. read more

Good food, good price. Wife had the Jerk Chicken, and I hand the oxtail. Taste as good in VA as it did in Jamaica. Only reason it lost one star was, as others stated, no Patties. Also did not ask if we waited a refill, or second beer, until we had completely finished our meals. read more

We have been to this place several times when in town visiting family. The food is great but a bit disappointed and annoyed that what they items listed on the menu that are not served daily although the menu says these items are served daily. Also, the biggest put-off is that the prices for the Goat and Oxtail vary based on market price so although the menu says the lunch special for the goat was $8.95 when we received the bill it was $9.95 and they said nothing to us until we questioned the price bill. Its Goat and Oxtail for goodness sake...not Lobster's. Lastly...they are always out of beef patties...This is the first Jamaican Restaurant I have gone to that is "always" out of beef patties and clearly it is not because they sell out upon opening for the day. Again...great food, decor, and service, however they need to work on their "served daily" menu and revisit they supply ordering to ensure they have amply supply of tge items being advertised on the menu! read more

Got their about 15 mins. before they opened on a Sat. & didn't realize they were closed, but they took my order anyways! The beef patties are great & so was the cocoa bread.
