I came looking for something light, chilled, and fun to eat, and Island Fin Poke did not disappoint!!! I let them know I was a first timer when I walked in and the staff were super friendly and took their time to explain all the options. I was getting nervous that all my choices would backfire but in fact they came together in an incredible combination of texture and flavor. You can choose multiple proteins in a single serving bowl - I went with ahi tuna and salmon, which had excellent color and texture. The sauces all sounded wonderful but the Fire sauce called to me - it did have kick, but was not overwhelming. Topping the bowl with the cooling avocado cream was a good match. But the real star of the bowl might have been the pineapple mango salsa! They have four picnic tables out on the curb, and even though it's in a fairly busy parking lot, I enjoyed the al fresco experience. Hand sanitizer was provided at every table and the staff clearly were taking all the COVID precautions seriously. Highly recommended lunch spot! read more

I never imagined that a cute little poke place would open minutes from my childhood home, and I am so glad that there is! I've had the poke here, and I think it's comparable to the poke I've had in Boston - Worcester, you're really stepping up! Of course the poke bowls are delicious, and the staff is always friendly and smiling (even during a global pandemic!), but what really makes me happy are the Dole Whips. I could consume an entire pineapple Dole Whip by myself every other day (thankfully I only get these when I go home to visit my Mom, and even then, not every time - although it's tempting!). The only downside to this place is that it isn't closer to home! I've tried Island Fin Poke many times now, I decided to make it my new Friday "treat myself" lunch. I was so excited when I saw that they added seaweed salad as a base means my splurge is even better looking with protein vs carbs. They have so many options and their online ordering is always super easy and convenient. Friendly "Hello" always when you walk through the door. My go to combo is seaweed salad base, spicy tuna, cucumbers, pickles ginger, avocado, soy marinade, a mix of crunchies likes tempura and fried onions and topped with a creamy sauce. It's basically my favorite sushi order in a bowl. Under $20 and I get a way larger portion than I would ordering one roll at my local restaurant. Atmosphere is nice. There is outdoor dining with cute picnic tables w/ umbrellas. The food didn't really wow me or my partner. Partner felt the chicken tasted old. Wish they had explanations of their sauces on the menu because ordering ahead took longer than it should have. I had spicy tuna with a ton of mix ins and ($1) add-ins and their most raved sauce. I absolutely love this little poke place! The choices are more varied compared to other poke places I've been including 3 different proteins from salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, octopus, chicken, shrimp. Absolutely disgusting. I walked in the place smelled extremely foul, no exaggeration smelled like a dumpster. Absolutely terrifying and you guys are going to get someone sick raw fish isn't anything to play around with. I have never been so disgusted and lost my appetite by food. Legit rode with my windows open the smell was unbearable. POKE AND RAW FISH SHOULD NEVER SMELL LIKE THAT. Put it on my Snapchat and I wasn't the only one who had this experience several people replied saying they had the same thing happen to them. Absolutely nasty, the city health inspection needs to go there ASAP. Would give this less than 1 star if I could. read more

I want to give this place 5 stars but they're making it hard for me. I've consistently eaten at this place since they opened a little over a year ago. I probably spend $50-$75 a month at this place. It's been our "go-to" place for Saturday lunch/dinner for the last 6 months. Usually the food is great. We've met the owner a few times and seems like an awesome guy. Always very kind. But the last two saturdays have been subpar to say the least. Last week I got a few fatty piece of chicken in my bowl that weren't edible. My girlfriend got a hair in her bowl and had to throw it away. Basically like throwing $15 in the trash and then having to make another meal. I figured it was just a fluke and didn't mention it. Today, another subpar order. My chicken was fatty and ice cold like it had been just pulled out of a freezer. Half the rice there usually is. My girlfriend has some "dog food like" substance in her bowl that we've never seen before and she definitely didn't order. It's weird shredded brown stuff all over everything that looks appalling. Another $15 bowl thrown away and 50% of mine was inedible. I'll give it one last shot next week before I move onto another competitor. Which really stinks because this place has been awesome the last year and it's so close to home. If I were the owner, I'd highly consider swapping out the Saturday staff and looking into their ingredients before more customers start switching to other places. read more

Had octopus, ahi and spicy ahi. They put all sorts of toppings and a dressing on the bowl. Not sure what the dressing was called. I asked for their favorite dressing and crunch topping. Went there on a whim one day for lunch. I've driven by a couple times and it was never busy so I figured it wasn't worth eating there. But I was wrong. Upon walking in it was actually pretty busy. The woman behind the counter explained the choices and ingredients for me and walked me through my order. It's usually 3 scoops proteins which choices were a plenty. I chose shrimp and 2 spicy tuna. I just started eating sushi but the spicy tuna was possibly the best I I've tasted so far. Everything was super fresh and tasty. There were tons of sauces and flavors to add and tons of toppings. The owner Marilyn checked in with us twice to see how we were enjoying our first Island Fin Poké experience. I really enjoy a good poke bowl. I have visited in their debut week and several times since. Island Fin has a great opportunity here in Worcester, there are a couple things they need to work on: 1. Better prepared rice. The consistency of the rice has been adequate to poor. From crunchy to over cooked. 2. There is a "smell" in the space that is off putting. It smells like fish. I have always been told that you should not be able to smell fish in a sushi restaurant. I have always used this as a benchmark for safety when consuming sushi. The employees here are very friendly and are always down to help new customers. The poke is definitely the star though. The protein options are diverse enough for everyone. They have raw seafood, cooked chicken, spam and tofu. There are many different kinds of mix ins and plenty of sauce options. The bowl is 12.00 and you get to pick what you want in it. I have never had Poke before, so my server explained the whole thing to me. I will pretty much eat most foods. I had the spicy tuna, octopus and spam over white rice. Some edamame, corn and their OG sauce. I also had some seaweed salad and crispy onions on it topped with some avocado creama and sriracha. I mixed it thoroughly, put my chopsticks in and took my first bite. Absolutely amazing. One of the very best foods that I have eaten. They even brought me a sample of their, I think it was pineapple lemon Dole whip. It was delicious, but way too sweet for me. I will definitely be going back again. My experience at Island Fin was exceptional! Staff was friendly and enthusiastic who have no problem walking you through if you've never had poké but all I needed was a quick glance at the options and I was ready to order. The owners were present to greet you and explain a little about their history as a franchise which was nice, I mean I'm happy they chose Worcester. They offer 3 scoops of your choice and plenty of toppings and various sauces to choose from for a fair $12. What I like about this place is that they first separate raw fish, and certain ingredients like edamame and other veggies to toss in the soy sauce of your choice first before placing them on top of the bed of rice and only after that they add the other toppings that don't need that seasoning such as mango, seaweed salad, kani, sesame seeds, dried seaweed etc. with another finishing sauce that you pick and the result is a well crafted bowl, instead of a sloppy, thrown together mess like other places. A downside is they charge extra for avocado and masago (fish eggs) but it's not that much. The star of the show was their Dole Whip soft serve! I've never came across this before, and one of the workers totally read my mind and brought over samples and I was just blown away... I only ever heard of Dole Whip being sold exclusively at Disney parks so I was surprised to see it here but it's an absolute must have, super smooth, very refreshing & sweet, and honestly this will keep me coming back. They have the original pineapple and strawberry flavors but was told every month they'd switch it up. Poke is my favorite food and getting my fiancé to eat poke is a challenge- as past poke places let him down on freshness. This was the first (of several) poke places we went to that my dude didn't have a complaint! He ate it all with a smile and complimented the freshness... so that alone deserves 6 stars. The menu is VERY clear about what 'costs more' it's only a few things and those few things is just a dollar extra. I ordered a poke bowl with salmon and there was a wide variety of topping that were pretty typical in most poke restaurants. Something that set them apart from other similar restaurants is that you get to season your fish with different soy sauces (I chose the OG). I topped mine off with the homemade spicy mayo which was great! There were also various other protein options like octopus, chicken, and spicy tuna. My bowl was very fresh and filling, probably one of the best poke spots I've been to in New England! I've been to Atlantic Poke and Holy Poke as well, and this one has the BEST protein selection, plus you get 3 instead of 2 like the other places. The staff were all amazing and provided excellent customer service. Each and every member had a smile on their face! I did a make your own bowl with double chicken and shrimp. I added a few of the assortment of toppings they had from edamame to pineapple-mango salsa. It was absolutely delicious. It was exactly how poke was described, basically a sushi roll but in a salad form! I was also recommended what sauce to put on it and she recommended the sweet but semi spicy one and it was the perfect match on the chicken and shrimp. After finishing my meal they brought over a sample of the two dole whips they were offering at that time. They always have pineapple and at the time were serving strawberry. It was also delicious!
