We came with a large party of 19, so while the service was a bit slow, it was understandable. The portions were huge--most of us couldn't even finish our meals! The food had a unique and interesting Caribbean flair throughout. Chicken tacos- they were very good with a decent price . It had a very good sauce. Crab quesadilla was ok, but needed a little more seasoning. The flounder Ruben was amazing. The Jamaican me crazy salad, was huge with mango, strawberries and chicken in a tortilla bowl. Almost too healthy. Can't go wrong with chicken tenders- the fries were nice and crispy. The food is very good but a little expensive. Dessert is amazing! The waitresses are hilarious and so nice! However the host (I guess you would call him) was rude. He refused to sit our table because we had one person parking car which is understandable but he was very rude about it. He then continued to tell all the waiters/waitresses about it. We have been going to Island Grill for last 5 years and have always been happy with our meals. Last weekend we went back for the first time this season. We were so disappointed with our meals. My husband ordered the special medium rare steak tips. what we got was overcooked hard as a rock steak tips that he couldn't eat. My mahi mahi was so tasteless and dry, I barely could get through a small part of it. We took home the left overs and threw them away. We wasted $80 and will not go back. Seafood was delicious, so many really cool daily specials, and the burgers were so so so good. Not just the best burger I've had at OCNJ, but top 3 burger I have ever had, ever. Great place to eat if in town. A bit pricey for quality of food that you are getting, but it is the shore and they are one of the fancier places on the island. Steak house prices. Service was great, food came out quickly and the server was nice. They gave me a new cup of water when I told them a fly flew into it. Lobster tail was thick and chewy, a tad overcooked for my preference but still really good. My husband's medium steak was a bit underdone but the salmon was done well. There can be a wait time if you go at peak dinner time. They also sold shirts if you wanted a souvenir. The meal was excellent, we ordered the fried cod special w/ coleslaw and a baked potato! The fish was excellent and the Coleslaw was the best I had enjoyed in a long time! My son ordered the crab cakes and they too were excellent! Full of lump crab, and very little filler! We both had a Caesar salad which was good, but a little more dressing would have been nice! The server, Maeve was excellent, so polite and her section was busy as well as the whole restaurant! We will be back again! My motive is to be helpful. Our waitress either needs training or needs help. I hope the latter as that's an easy fix for management. Two of our three entrees needed to be sent back, we noticed the table next to us also had to send back at least one item. To send back a steak to be cooked more.... It should come back quickly not in 15-20 minutes. One order of broccoli wasn't cooked and we chose to get it replaced with a baked potato .... Same thing, it shouldn't take 15 minutes and then show up with no butter or sour cream. I had to jump on our waitress because I feared she wouldn't be back for a long time. Felt bad. My friend got the bison burger and it was similarly not seasoned and bland. One positive is that they have plenty of gluten free options. Server was great. However, Two burgers were ordered (medium- medium-rare) and they both came out on the rare side. We sent the medium burger back to the kitchen and another burger was brought out a few moments later. That burger came out more rare than the first one. We sent the burger back again and decided to not try a third time. As soon as that burger was sent back a woman with blonde hair came out of the kitchen and proceeded to point at our table and talk about our table very loudly to the point we could all hear what she was saying. Once again the server was great so we left her a good tip but the lady that came out of the kitchen and starred at us made us all feel so uncomfortable so we finished eating as soon as possible. All were excellent, but we thought the corn and crab was especially good. We also got the mahi mahi Reuben. It seemed odd, and I have to say, it might not be everyone's taste, but we really enjoyed it. Ocean city, nj is a dry town, so I was shocked to see they have a small beer list. All non-alcohol, but for $3.00, I figured I'd give the blue moon n/a a try - and it tastes very similar to the alcohol version! A nice surprise. Our waitress, Lilly, was great. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. They offer a great selection of fresh fish for sale at the front of the restaurant. A lot of varieties that are hard to find elsewhere. 5 of us went here on Monday of Memorial Day weekend. We just got in before closing. The clam chowder was delicious. I wanted the shrimp and flounder combo but was told they were out of flounder. A gem on the north end of OC. Although it looked pretty crowded for a Tuesday night, we were seated inside right away. Our server Addison was friendly and knowledgeable. We tried the fried clams for an appetizer. My husband loves fried clams and these made the grade! We also had crab mushroom bisque--delicious! My husband had pan seared scallops and he was delighted with the portion and the taste. Homemade mashed potatoes on the side were a great choice. I had drunken shrimp which is served over island rice and I loved it. I will definitely order it again. My son had grouper with mango salsa and it was fabulous. The Island Grill is a little off the main Ocean City hotspot area -- but don't miss it! The restaurant is family friendly and decorated in a fun island theme. We started with clam strips which were very good. I had the crab cakes with a potato, and the crab cakes were fantastic! If you like crab cakes, you'll enjoy the Island Grill's crab cakes. I was going between the crab cakes and scallops, glad I picked the crab cakes. My wife and son both got quesadillas - boring - but they enjoyed them. My husband and I were in the Ocean City area at the end of Sept and we decided to return the following week to celebrate my husband's birthday. We decided to do a bike ride down to Stone Harbor. The weather was perfect, the trip was long, and we ended it with a delicious dinner at Island Grill. We loved the tropical decor and the extensive menu, but we failed to realize that Ocean City is a DRY town so a celebratory glass of wine with dinner was NOT happening. Because it was the end of the summer season, some menu items were unavailable. Suggest adding IRON CHEF Orange Glaze with Ginger sauce to the chef's lineup - very tropical and will give some zip to the dishes! Also, please learn how to make a proper "mango salsa". We came here on our beach vacation. The wait for a table was about an hour, which seemed a little lengthy for a Tuesday night. The service inside was excellent and the foot itself was great. My salmon tasted fresh and was well seasoned. The sauce on my pasta was a little heavier than expected but tasted great. My kids loved their cheeseburger and their fries. Walked in here after walking around town. It was during restaurant week but they only had one for breakfast. I had the 6oz Angus burger with tomatoes, lettuces and pickles. No complaints here. Grilled to perfection, juicy and yummy. The coleslaw on the other hand was not the best. The ratio of vegetables to mayonnaise was very disproportional. Felt like I was just eating mayo..... I should have stuck to the fries. It just might have been an off day. By far one of the friendliest and helpful staff I have ever encountered. We had a wonderful dinner last night at Island Grill. Unlike other local restaurants, there was no wait. Prices were fair, food was delicious, especially the fresh fish and shrimp corn chowder. And there are interesting wild game options such as elk, ostrich, and yak. The vibe was warm and casual. Service was very friendly and quick, and they really took care of us. What I especially noticed was how all the servers helped each other out and enjoyed working together. That really struck me as I was listening to their side conversations.
