    Fish tacos
    Amy P.

My daughter, who is an extremely picky eater, stumbled upon this place. Wow! We were all pleasantly surprised! Food was fabulous! I am a real meat eater, so when I realized a lot of the stuff was vegetarian, I was skeptical. We ordered fish tacos, a turkey burrito, A turkey cheese steak and chicken fajitas. My fajitas were so fresh and delicious! My daughter loved her burrito, which had lots of guac and to my surprise, the turkey cheese steak was excellent! Who knew! The fish tacos were abundant with crispy chunks of cod and a nice slaw. But now for the desert... I ordered a raspberry banana whip with raspberries blueberries and granola. OMG! I am still dreaming about this. It's a frozen banana that's turned into a custard! Absolutely delicious, and inside the dome of custard it was filled with raspberries and blueberries. The perfect ending to a wonderful meal! Our waitress was also extremely nice and explained lots to us! A definite stop on my next trip!

A customer was complaining of the long wait. I also saw a customer go back to the ordering area to ask for the rest of his order they forgot. I only saw one machine being used to make the banana whip. Ordering food on the boardwalk might take a while if it's a busy day or night. Personally I don't mind waiting for great tasting foods. My banana whip treat was refreshing. I enjoyed the creaminess and sweet taste. I should of ordered a large one instead of a small. I ordered a plain one and my friend ordered a large with blueberries and granola. She wanted nuts but they were all out. We did not order any food off of their lunch menu. Wherever I see banana whip offered it will be my first choice for a snack.

If you want an awesome treat - go here! Absolutely loved their banana ice cream. I will go here every time I visit the Jersey Shore if I can! Great concept. The cafe is tiny inside but there is outdoor seating.

I understand this business is not the same business I remember it being, and I know that it is because the juicers are different now, but the banana whip just isn't whip anymore. I get a better banana whip at home with my Dole machine... In addition to the machines being different now and the whip being different too, I did not have the best experience because of the service. A small banana whip cost $7.65 which seems like a lot. Also, the person who made my whip took a very very long time which is weird because it's a quick thing to make. The problem was that this business is very disorganized and the part that they needed to put on the banana whip machine extruder is so stripped that it hardly screws on anymore. And they only had one piece that they were moving between two machines so it took a long time to get that put on and working. The note to customers that they have posted states that the banana whip is more of a hard State than a soft State now which is accurate. But it is kind of weird to see the person putting the banana whip from the extruder into the cup use their clean gloved hand to smush it with their fingers into the cup. It was a very hygienic operation it just was weird to see. I hope this business is able to afford the new machines even though they cost three times as much as the old ones because this experience was completely different than what I had experience in the past. I personally will not be coming back here.

Disclaimer: I've only tried their banana whip. They offer a lengthy menu of food and bakery items as well. I recently tried their banana whip and I was so excited! I had heard a lot of good things but my experience was underwhelming. My banana whip didn't taste like banana oddly enough, it was so frozen, it really didn't taste like anything. The toppings I included in my banana whip added a flavor. They do offer a lot of different toppings and a few "whip" flavors. Bashful Banana offers unique baked goods that appear nothing short of delicious. I didn't try any during my visit but I'll be sure to sample them when I return. They also offer a lengthy menu that appears appetizing as well. I won't give up on you Bashful Banana, I'll be back to check out the rest of the hype. Finding Bashful Banana: Bashful Banana can easily be missed on the boardwalk, as it sits back next to the Castaway Cove. If Castaway Cove is in your right, walk a tiny bit past it and you'll see that you can make a right. Once you make the right, Bashful Banana is is on your left!

I've been coming to the shore every summer for my whole life and discovered Bashful Banana a few years ago. I've gone back every summer. As someone with severe allergies, it is a great place for safe food and healthy, delicious options. The banana whip, which they are well-known for, is a sweet allergen-free alternative to soft serve. It is a great texture and they have a lot of topping choices, like pretzels and vegan chocolate chips and chocolate sauce. I also really enjoy their menu items for dinner or lunch. My family often goes out to eat on vacation, and this can be stressful for me with my dairy allergy. I'll often get something take-out from Bashful Banana regardless of where my family gets dinner. I LOVE their vegan mac n cheese--it is some of the best vegan mac I have had. I also like their salad options with chicken or shrimp, and they also have good oven baked chicken tenders with a house-made honey mustard dipping sauce. The servings are all substantial and a good value. The employees are knowledgable about the menu items and/ or will double check the ingredients to make sure it is okay for me. They have a convenient to-go fridge with pre-packaged items. I grabbed a turkey salad to go before I left to travel home so I'd have something I knew was safe to eat on the road. The restaurant has honestly changed my Ocean City eating experience and made it far less stressful and much more enjoyable!

Bashful Banana is a wonderful old standby for vegans and vegetarians in Ocean City, NJ. We love it! There are loads of vegan options on the menu and everything is made fresh with delicious produce. It's great to have a reasonably priced vegan option right on the boardwalk. Here's what I ordered on our most recent trip to OCNJ. (We visited the restaurant multiple times to eat on their patio or take it to go!) - Vegan multigrain pancakes with a side of fruit. So nice to have a decadent brunch option that is vegan. With vegan butter too! - "Peanut Butter Cup" banana whip which is made with an all-fruit-based chocolate sauce. - Tofu scramble with potatoes. So many vegetables in this! Spinach, peppers, onions, tomatoes. Be sure to pour some ketchup or hot sauce on for extra flavor.

FAVORITE TREATS!! You can add the best toppings.

Greatest hidden GEM in OCNJ! I've been coming to the OCNJ Boardwalk my whole life and I have only recently discovered Bashful Banana's famous banana whip! It is SO GOOD, and is the perfect replacement to ice cream for those with dairy intolerances or who are looking for a lighter Boardwalk snack! I get the plain whip with peanut butter and some sort of fruit. Everything is always fresh and flavorful. The service is quick and the employees are kind. The restaurant also offers an incredible menu and lots of baked goods. They are tucked away, across from the go kart track and the Jaws mini golf :) don't miss them next time you visit ocean city!!

Once again, an Ocean City staple gets plenty of nostalgia points from me. I remember when this place opened a couple decades ago and entirely forgot that it existed until this past Labor Day weekend when my girlfriend and I were walking by. I can remember my mom getting muffins here (which she always raved about) and I needed to stop in. I was pleased to see that it is exactly the same inside as I remembered, which means that it could probably use a refresh. They appear to be using the same banana creamers that they were 20 years ago and the girls behind the counter were working hard to churn out orders. The kitchen is in the back and out of sight. We got one of their proprietary "duffins" - a donut/muffin hybrid that really seemed to be a muffin in the shape of a donut. I *guess* that counts. We got a blueberry one, which was good but would have been better hot. We also got a banana whip (the standard here) with chocolate chips. It was really good. We got a kiddie size which looked bigger than a small! It's a shame that this place is not on the main part of the boardwalk. You really have to know what you are looking for to find it. However, they offer something completely unique to the sweet treat scene here. If you want something that's not ice cream or water ice, check this place out!

Great location for delicious (and not heart-attack inducing) boardwalk food! New Whip is better than the old stuff :)

This place has become a favorite spot for us while on vacation. It's refreshing to find a place with some healthy and whole food options to mix in with more indulgent vacationing food. We don't give our little one many sweets, but he's convinced he's getting a delicious ice cream when we get him one of the banana whips. The service wasn't bad, but nothing exceptional either. But the food is good and the banana whip options of flavors and toppings are great! And those baked goods case looks delightful.

My experience here was not the best. I waited over 15 minutes just to order a muffin. Customers ahead of me were paid and waiting for their banana whips. I wish they would have a separate cashier to ring up those who want something from the bakery. I decided to wait this long as they had vegan muffins. It is hard to find vegan options while on vacation so I was excited when I saw they offered vegan items. I chose the vegan banana muffin. The muffin was very dry and had no flavor. I would not recommend going here & would choose another restaurant on the boardwalk that offers similar items.

    Very bland paella

I would give it a 5 just based on the banana whip and muffins! Who would have thought that a dessert-like treat could be so healthy! The banana whips are like nothing you have seen before and taste like frozen yogurt, yet it has no dairy or added sugar! You can get toppings that are fresh and add to the banana flavor. I got strawberry, peanut butter sauce, and pumpkin seed. The fruit fudge sauce is also awesome. It makes a perfect morning light breakfast or dessert! Stay away from the entrees! If I could I would give the dinner 0 stars! The dinners although are the most tasteless thing I have ever had. The Mac and cheese was alright just not as cheesy and dry. My mom and I both ordered the paella which had very bland and we both were expecting a lot of spices since it's paella. The bruschetta that came with the entrees was good though. The waiter was very sweet and friendly!

I walked into Bakeria two days ago, intending to treat myself to one of their amazing artisan slices of pizza. But in the display case below the counter was a stack of beautiful seeded baguettes, hot out of the oven and longer than my arm! Disclaimer: I am a lifelong baguette hound, travel to Italy and France frequently enough, and consider myself a baguette connoisseur if you will. So it took two long bags, one on each end, to wrap this baguette which smelled like a dream, and I will admit that I was a bit taken back when the cashier asked for $10, which is the most I have ever paid for baguette in all of my life, but knowing that these sell out every day, I was not gonna walk away at that point! All I can tell you is this is by far the best baguette I have ever had in America or Europe: wonderful sourdough, perfectly texture crust covered with lightly toasted sesame seeds, and a moist soft chewy interior that is pure bliss. Buy this baguette! I promise you that it will be a memorable experience!P! And the 10 bucks? I have to be totally honest: I have since dreamed about this baguette and wouldn't hesitate to go back tomorrow for another one, it was so worth it!
