Shrimp Rasta Pasta at Island Paradise is a must-try! The succulent shrimp are perfectly cooked, mingling with creamy, spiced sauce and colorful bell peppers. Each bite bursts with Caribbean flair--absolutely delightful!

    Curry chicken roti

Curry chicken roti is very dry and the roti crumbled when touched. The chicken insidw didn't even have any gravy. A total waste of my money.

First off, MAC N CHEESE IS TRASH #brickcity #noseason #boilednoodlesonly. I wen there today and placed two orders (Jerk Chicken and Curry Goat). I ate the jerk which was good but I was unaware that sauce is needed as the serving in the container is only cooked using a dry rub. It was an experience

Dry ass cabbage, dry ass oxtail
    Jordan D.

I woke up today wanting a good juicy, oxtail meal. I usually order from a certain establishment but they were closed as today is Sunday. I am so upset that this is the place I picked. The cabbage was so DRY I could rub two leaves together and start a California brush fire. The rice and peas were okay. But the STAR of the meal was so disappointing. The oxtail had no gravy. They were also so tough, It felt like I was chewing on someone's knobby kneecaps. So tough I thought they were gonna get up and fight me. So tough I thought the animal was still alive. I hate this place. Y'all know y'all wrong for not putting one crystal of salt or a flake of pepper on that dry ass cabbage. If y'all ain't wanna be open on Sunday just say that.

Smallest container 6.99 absolutely no seasoning this was jerk chicken no jerk favor at all and dry witg hard pure white no flavor cabbage

This food was horrible 6.99 lunch special was some yesterday's food with no seasonings and when I got it in a small container I thought it was a appetizer. NEVER ORDER HERE!! I definitely forgot to look at the prior reviews smh No real Jamaican cooking here

    Curry Goat Roti

the goat is tender taste was alright.. filled my tummy. doordash was fast and delivered on time.

Gravy in the bag. None on the food SMH Oxtail with Butter Beans

I ordered a large oxtails with heavy gravy. They didn't put ANY gravy on the plate. The little bit of gravy was in the bag. The oxtails were too tough to eat. The cabbage tastes like nothing. Never again. $30 for a large on DoorDash. It all went in the trash. I can't believe thats what the call a large SMDH

Interior: Outdated, but definitely traditional island feel

The first time, I still had about a 10-15 minute wait even after the app said my food was ready. This second time, I was able to get my order right away when I walked in. The staff is always friendly regardless of wait time. The restaurant is really a grab and go location; there isn't sufficient space or set-up for dining in. Each time I've been, there has been consistent for traffic in and out, so it's pretty popular. On my first visit (while standing around waiting for my order to be ready), I learned from listening to other ppl order that there is a lunch special where the meals featuring chicken are cheaper. I believe it goes thru 1pm. In my first visit, I tried lots of things and was largely disappointed in the taste. I had the brown stewed chicken and oxtail meals (both ordered with heavy gravy), a turkey wing, a chicken soup, and coco bread. The oxtails were the only thing I truly enjoyed. The sides on the meals were just okay except the plantains. The plantains were hard and dry, truly inedible. The chicken soup wasn't flavorful enough; I wouldn't order it again. For me, the turkey wing seasoning was too spicy, but my husband enjoyed it. On this second visit, I went only to pick up two turkey wings for my husband, as he has continued to talk about trying the turkey wing again. He ate them both for dinner along with some homemade rice a d veggies. He wanted to order sides but I discouraged that based on the first experience. Pete's is located in a strip mall that seems to have some other Caribbean businesses, including a market next door. The parking lot has an approaching need for repavement and line repainting. *uploaded pics are from first visit*

Fast forward to my first visit to a physical restaurant. I was greeted when I entered, and the staff (although ignorant about their products) were friendly and as helpful as they could be. I inquired what was in the spinach patty and soya patty. I was told they don't serve soya patties, then I directed the woman to look at their menu board. She seemed shocked and stated, oh we don't have those. Nonetheless, I ordered a spinach patty, vegetable patty and side of cabbage. Spinach Patty: flaky on the outside, creamy and perfectly seasoned on the inside. A Vegetable Patty: flaky on the outside, well-seasoned vegetables inside. Comparable to the frozen version, but more expensive in restaurant. B+ Cabbage: cooked with corn, bell peppers and peas. Seasoned well and generous portion given. B+ I would come here again. I saw a coconut pie near the register that looked really good.

Nothing wrong with a Dominican place cooking PR food but just make sure that its executed well. My son ordered baccalaito and was shocked by the presentation....it was inside a red sauce. Well this dish is normally made with fried cod fish fritters. I ordered alcapurria....0 flavor in the beef, had a weired rectangle shape and it was darkly burned. Which let us know that this restaurant owner doesnt care about the food quality. Thank god that I only ordered the alcapurria and not a full plate. Wont be returning!

Which were all denied out of being told they weren't offering any of those (sandwiches, salads) due to being too busy. Then were blindly charging an amount that does not match their online pricing. Even if they are not affiliated with DoorDash anymore for example, they should make sure it is completely removed and have an updated menu created if needed. If their prices have went up, it is at a restaurant rate when they are not a restaurant. When called out on this, the pricing was matched closer to what I manually tallied. I heard ownership has changed, making me question if that's why this experience took place vs very different experiences in the past. At that point, I used to constantly order lunch from here and do large catering orders for house parties of 50-80+ people. This created such a terrible taste, it will be the last time I order with them. I hope to see they do better and don't permanently ruin what was once so great. The food used to remind me of NY Bodega food. Now, no where near the same taste or quality. I'm so disappointed and upset I spent $$ on this.

TLDR: Food lacked traditional flavors or flavors at all, and service was subpar. I arrived on a Thursday, about 2:30pm. There were no patrons the entire time I was there. I was told that they were out of Ackee. This is the second time in two weeks that they have been out of ackee. The first time, I called in a pickup order but was told they were out so I cancelled my order. This time, I came in person. There were two young ladies at the counter. One was very friendly and explained to me the difference in menus and the to-go area versus the sit-down area. The other young lady seemed very confused and uneducated about the food. The second lady (named Sekyah or something like that), took my order. Before I ordered anything after being told that there was no ackee, I asked if I could get callaloo. The young lady did not know how to pronounce callaloo and messed it up each time she tried to say it to ask the cook in the back if they had it. I was informed that they did. I then proceeded with ordering a veggie plate, which is not on the menu. I was told that there are a 4-item and a 5-item options. I ordered the 5-item plate and chose: Mac and Cheese (3/5), Yams (0/5), Cabbage (2/5), Collards (2/5) and Callaloo (N/A). While plating the initial 4-items, which for some odd reason took extremely long and she kept asking me to repeat the items. I started saying one at a time so she could remember, but then she'd ask me to say all of them. I'd list all of them and then she asked what I wanted more than 3 times. When we got back to the callaloo, she went back into the kitchen again and was told that they would have to cook it. I asked about how long would the wait be, as I did not mind waiting for some good food. Sekyah said that she thinks it would NOT be done within 15 minutes. I then pivoted and purchased the 4-item veggie plate versus the 5-item. Upon getting home, I couldn't wait to dig in. Positives: portion size and Mac and Cheese. Negatives: everything else. The Cabbage was under seasoned. The Yams tasted watered down, as if they had been frozen or diluted with water. The Collards also were very under seasoned. None of the items tasted as though they were seasoned by someone familiar with Caribbean cuisine. Overall, I will not go back. I will continue to eat at Cutter's. Perhaps I went on a bad day, and that explains the 5-star reviews; but I was severely disappointed.
