Regardless of what other sites tell you, this restaurant is NOT pet friendly. No dogs are allowed, even on the patio. The host was very kind in explaining it but stated it was not legally allowed and that no other places will allow it. This is not the case. Rose's Cafe across the street gladly accepts well-behaved dogs, although some of it's patrons were less excited and even blatantly rude about our rescue dog's presence. If you plan to visit the island, it's best to leave your fur kid at home! read more

The food was OK. Not amazing, but OK. Certainly wasn't worth the absolutely horrendous service. It arrived very fast after our order was eventually taken, thus the two stars. The service however was among the worst I've received in years. When we arrived they stated that the wait would be "20 minutes, probably shorter." No big deal, we sat down to wait. Clearly they were busy, they had 5 people on the list before us. However, I watched as the staff left dirty tables for 10 minutes before they were cleaned. Then the table sat empty for nearly another 10 minutes before anyone was seated there. I waited tables for many years, they had 3 servers for less 16 tables. There's no excuse for that kind of fail. Needless to say, our wait was closer to 35 minutes not 20. Then when they came to seat us he informed us that because their delivery truck was late, they did not have most of the breakfast menu. He then asked if we still wanted a table. Seems like the kind of information you tell people before they wait 35 minutes. In any case, I was starving, so we sat down. It took 10 minutes for water, another 10 for the server to come take our order. The food arrived very fast, within 10 minutes. My husbands coffee cup sat empty for 20 minutes before I took the cup to the front counter myself. Even then, the employee asked me to go back to my table and he would send someone. After 5 minutes someone did come with the coffee, thankfully. When he dropped off the coffee we asked for our check, after another 15 minutes he finally drops it off. We give him our card right then and there. We wait, and wait. After 15 minutes I go to the front desk to ask for my card and check. I explained that the server took it and never came back. Our server eventually walks up to the front counter and drops if off for another employee to ring up. A quick breakfast took nearly two hours from the time we walked in the door until we left. Absolutely ridiculous. It was 10 AM on a Friday morning. I can't imagine what kind of service they give on a Sunday morning, but if you're visiting Orcas Island do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

Good overall. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere. Good food, very efficient. Good at accommodating for my large party with several allergies. Very good eggs Benedict. My husband and I ate breakfast here twice during our stay on Orcas and were not disappointed. My husband got a breakfast burrito both days and (coming from someone who orders the breakfast burrito everywhere we go) raved that this was the best he'd ever had. My waffle was deliciously doughy yet somehow still light. The chorizo scramble with pico on top was perfect. Everything came out quickly and hot. Service was friendly. I had the best hot chocolate of my 29 years. Our table was next to a window, but in the shade of the leaves of real grapes growing right outside! They also had an impressive oldies playlist going that went beyond the typical hits that establishments usually play. Well done, Island Skillet! read more

It seems like there is always a line, and now I know why. It took 45 minutes to get our food after we ordered! This was for a blt! We arrived and were told 20 minutes. 45 minutes later we were seated. Our order was taken right away, but it took forever for our food to come. The other tables were waiting as well. If this place were more efficient they would do a lot more business. The food was ok, but not worth the wait. Go elsewhere. read more

We loved this place, we came back twice in 4 days! It is your quintessential locals breakfast spot for some homemade eggs and fresh coffee. They get overwhelmed with crowds, but they do their best. We loved the small town feel of this place to start our days. read more

Great inexpensive breakfast and a really nice waitress who made us feel very welcome. The only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is that the coffee is not that great. This place has great breakfast and a cozy funky atmosphere. Hashbrowns are cooked to perfection and crispy, eggs are great. Every hot sauce you could imagine. Very reasonably priced (aside from the $6 Mimosa) and tons of options to add and customize your order. I couldn't decide what to get because I wanted it all so I opted for the basic breakfast eggs over easy because I'm simple. Only suggestion I have for the business is to upgrade the sourdough toast, it is that of a wonder-bread loaf and would compliment the meal more if it was more substantial and crispy from a bakery. Food is average, what they have of it. We went there for breakfast based on ratings. The waitress informed us they had a special chorizo scramble. We both ordered it; 10 minutes later she advised us that they ran out of chorizo just as they got to our order. When my wife then ordered a breakfast burrito with sausage, she was told they were out of sausage. Come on! Sausage is a breakfast staple and your primary business is breakfast and you run out!?! The service was terrible. I don't usually post reviews for restaurants, but this place was awful. It was a weekday morning and my boyfriend and I were grabbing a bite before we had to catch our ferry. We had a couple of hours before we had to leave, and breakfast shouldn't take that long, right? We ordered our coffee and breakfasts. (The coffee was mediocre at best.) Then, we sat. We watched two parties at other tables be seated, get their food, and leave. We continued to sit. We asked about our food and the perturbed waitress sighed and said she would check the kitchen. We were there for an hour and a half waiting until we finally asked to get our food in to-go boxes because we had to catch the ferry home. The waitress was really annoyed and unapologetic, but she complied. We got our boxes of food, paid at the counter (they comped our coffee), and left. Ten minutes later when we opened our boxes, what we found were soggy messes. The food was inedible and it was too late to take it back. I loved our time on Orcas Island, but I will not return to Island Skillet anytime soon. read more

This place is a great place. I eat here on a regular basis, and always have had great service and good food. Its a down home simple breakfasts and reasonably priced. I usually get the eggs benedict, but the omelets are yummy too! They serve breakfast all day which is awesome for those of us that like to sleep in. As an islander I would hope that all the tourist would remember they are on vacation, and to relax and enjoy the island. I give this place 2 thumbs up!! read more

Fantastic! Great Island Breakfast spot - delicious food and plenty of flavor. Check out the four shelves of hot sauce! Friendly staff and lots of local charm. Plenty of seating. Portions are large for breakfast entrees (breakfast burritos are tasty but not over the top big). Prices range from frugal to moderate with plenty options for budget minded families. I actually would give his 3.5 stars but can't (mainly due the Mac and cheese). I really liked my dish of eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was so good! My husband got the Philly cheesesteak with Mac and cheese. I thought the sandwich was pretty good, maybe could have used more steak and/or peppers. I thought the Mac and cheese would be better, it wasn't very cheesy and kind of tasted odd. I was a little nervous it would take a while being a Sunday around noon, but we were seated, ate, and left in about 30 minutes!
