We ordered the Thai green curry with chicken, chicken rice bowl, tofu Banh Mi, and macaroni salad. The green curry and Hawaiian Mac salad get rave reviews! The tofu on the banh mi was unflavored and huge pieces (like a tofu block cut in half). It definitely needed some chili oil and togarashi. Mixed reviews on the chicken rice bowl because the rice was slightly dry and teriyaki sauce tasted like soy sauce but the cabbage salad was delicious. Overall, I would come back. Omg 5 stars all around! That galbi bowl was WOW! I shared mine with my husband and wish I got my own! That is one of the best Galbi bowls I've ever had. This is a little gem in Orcas island! If you ever head to Orcas give this place a try!!!! They even have onigiri!!!! Try them with the little soy sauce! Yum!!!!! It's been weeks and my mind is still blown from my dining experience at the West Side Kitchen. This small asian-inspired eatery is located in Eastsound on Orcas Island. I ordered one of their newest menu items, the fried mushroom sandwich. While vegetarian, this sammie was packed with flavor. I love how light and crispy the mushrooms were. They also did not skimp on the shroomies. My white bread was filled to the brim. This is one of those meals that I'd kill to know how to make at home! I also love that they offer unique snacks. I ended up trying their Lays in the Kyushu seaweed flavor, which was so tasty. There isn't a ton of seating available, especially during their busier periods. I'd recommend taking your food to-go and enjoying it picnic style near the water. read more

I was sooo sad when Voyager closed but my tears quickly dried when I realized that The West Side Kitchen has a very similar menu! I went with the familiar Tofu Bun Cha ($17) which includes fried tofu, noodles, veggies, herbs, and jalapeno with hoisin and nuoc cham? served on the side. Fresh and flavorful. Next time around I'll have to try the Tofu Teriyaki and Tempeh Sandwich. Very happy that there are a couple vegan options! I didn't get to enjoy this lunch spot during my last Orcas trip since they're only open during the week, but hopefully next year I can swing by for a bite. read more

Our group tried the $18 bulgogi beef (cold bits of beef on rice with a scoop of kimchi and a few slices of spiced cucumber), the spicy thai salad (mixed greens, cabbage, spicy), and the $16 pork banh mi. Words can't describe how delicious this sandwich shop is. It's so much more than that. It's like going into a magical world of flavors and Melodie's on your taste buds that you begin to feel right when you step through the front door. Inside the ambiance is very cozy, yet still spacious enough to not feel cramped. Reminiscent of a lounge somewhere in the tropics, which was very comforting on a rainy PNW day. The combination of salt, fat, acid & heat present in their sandwiches, salads and rice bowls; bring a newfound and refreshing appreciation for Asian fusion food. If fusion food needed to set itself to a standard, Westside not only sets the bar, but takes it above and beyond what I was prepared for. The staff was also super low key, yet very friendly, and very knowledgeable about their items. To top it off the owner brought the food out to us himself with a smile. Overall I'd have to say in a place with limited top level cuisine, Westside is the shining star in an otherwise dim arena for what many would consider to be great food (outside the Taco trucks on the island, they're awesome too, but not open as consistently). read more

Andy and his crew are the kindest folks you can imagine, and they put together the most delicious salads and sandwiches you can imagine. The menu is accommodating--I'm vegan and didn't feel like I was missing out one bit, and the same is true for my wife who can't have gluten. Holy shit. I did not expect to find the best gluten free drunken noodles I've ever had on this little island but here we are. They were so good I went two days in a row and also got the teriyaki tofu (which was also gluten free and phenomenal). I had to take out the jalapenos peppers from the sandwich, but it was delicious. The owners are not Asian, but they understand Asian foods. Everything got eaten. The bowl came out piping hot and was so flavorful with fresh vegetables. The potatoes added a great texture to the bowl. The bahn mi on the other hand had softest bread and was so fresh.
