My car had an engine warning, so I had gone to AutoZone to find out what the error code was.. Well, I don't remember what they told me was wrong, but I went to A&V, since they were in walking distance from my brother's, long story short, it wasn't what AutoZone's code told me. That would of cost about $300.00, but instead he checked it over, and I walked out of there paying $75.. I've using them for over 3 years now. Again and again, I have found them to be fair and honest. Even speaking with my friends, that know cars, the price quotes they have given to me could only be beaten if I did it myself..

This is after calling and visiting 3 other places that were supposedly open according to google, but actually decided to stay shut - likely because it had snowed fairly heavily. Anyway, I was lucky enough to get Elton on the phone who told me to come on in for my oil change and I got there 6 minutes later. First, he cleaned the snow off my car. Offered me a seat in the waiting room in the back of the shop. After fiddling on my phone for a bit, I decided to go and check on the status and just as I stood up off the chair Elton was walking in to let me know it was done. 15 minutes, maybe, for the oil change. Synthetic for a 2024 car - was $90. Reasonable. Not do it yourself cheap, but not outrageous either. Honestly, no appointment, weekend, bad weather, arrive and receive service immediately, friendly. I'm literally writing this immediately after leaving because they deserve the praise. Also, there was a beautiful.. I mean absolutely beautiful Chevrolet inside the garage, I'd guess from the 80's, but it could have been late 70. Heck, it could even have been early 90's, I have no idea. All I know is 20 years ago I'd call it a piece of junk but today I couldn't take my eyes off it. Funny how that happens. Anyway, I digress a second time. Hylan Auto Repair, Elton, thank you for taking care of this chore that I've had on my todo list for 2 months longer than it should have been on there. The two owners there (Mario and G) are THE BEST! I went to brothers on forest for an AC repair job and it was an Awful experience! Not only did he keep my car like 4 days for a simple AC recharge but he charged me over $200 for that! I asked three times "please put air in my tires as they are getting low!" When I go to pickup the car 4 days later, I ask him, did you fill up my tires with air? Real snotty he says "no! You brought your car here for an AC job, why would I touch your tires?!" What a RUDE SOB! Why would you touch my tires? Maybe because I asked you Several times to please fill up the Damn tires when I dropped the car off!!! He was so condescending!!! I wouldn't go here if they were the last place on Staten island! I would instead push my car over the bridge to NJ by myself rather than have to deal with that JERK! GO to MG Auto on Clove road! They bring with th am years of experience on not foreign and domestic vehicles. They are highly efficient and accommodating. If you feel like you are currently going to Mechhanic who is not doing right by you, you should go to Verrazano Motor Works. I have a 10 y/o Pontiac and Louie has been maintaining it since the opening o f this bussiness. I trust them and feel confident that the work is being done right.
