There is a tiny PX, small bowling alley, fairly nice size pool, and a small gym to workout at. If you have little ones, I recommend the preschool at ASYMCA located near the airfield. It also does get quite noisy and the house may shake when they are doing trainings with the helicopters. Other than that, be sure to drive slow in the early am when the soldiers are doing PT.

Our driver nicknamed "Short" was a great driver as well as a native who knew the island and all it's customs, history, and it's little fun facts and quirks. Short is also a life philosopher. I won't spoil it should you get him, but he has a good way of keeping things light hearted but really makes you think about why the world and it's constant feuding is the way it is. The trip started sharply at 8AM (hotel lobby pickup) and after picking up a few passengers at different hotels, we were off. The Pearl Harbor tour and the ride over was excellent. While I knew a lot of what he was narrating, he goes into the back story of why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Much different than what you probably learned in history class. Nothing excuses the Japanese military government for doing what they did and he's not an apologist for them, but he laid out the facts leading up to it. Very informative. The movie at the Pearl Harbor center was well done by the Park Service, but we didn't have much time to look around much after that as we needed to keep to schedule. A few passengers were a full 30 minutes late, but he didn't give them the riot act but instead gently and jokingly chided them a little. It was pretty funny! The Dole pineapple gift shop stop was all about buying stuff, so if you've done it you'll be bored. But for first timers, get the Pineapple Freeze at the back of the store. We stopped by three parks and beaches which included the North Shore, a park whose name I forget, and Hanauma Bay. We highly recommend PPF. Just remember as part of a tour, be courteous and be on time. Write it down, put it in your phone, whatever it takes to keep everyone on the tour on track!

Where to begin?! From the booking to the end of day drop off, Ryan and Beccy were beyond amazing!…read more Booking: with COVID, we wanted to ensure our booking was 100% refundable if someone in our party had a positive result. The cancellation policy doesn't have a COVID contingency so I called and asked if they could accommodate and asked to have that sent in email as a confirmation. Ryan was more than accommodating and immediately emailed us with the modified cancellation policy and even told me to call to book versus online to avoid online fees. Booking was easy and Ryan asked great questions to understand what type of group we were and what interests we had to ensure he created the perfect itinerary for us. Day of: Pick up: Ryan called before pick to let me know/confirm the activities for the day. Ensured he had what he needed and that we packed what we needed. He was picking us up and was even 10 minutes early to ensure we were packed and ready to go right at 10 am! First stop: Snorkeling! I have been snorkeling several times but this was by far the BEST I've done. The weather was perfect and sun shining and water was crystal blue clear. The fish and coral were beautiful. We saw a pod of dolphins, a seas turtle, sting ray and so many different type of tropical fish. There were some great underwater statues/ structures and Ryan shot some great photos/ videos. Beccy was wonderful with my youngest daughter (10 years old) and ensured there was a surf board to hold into when she got tired. 2nd stop: mermaid caves! Right up the road from the snorkel spot and such a cool/ beautiful spot we did a little bit of exploring, took some great photos/videos and went to our next stop. 3rd stop: Waterfall Cliffs! Brief hike through lush forest to a cute hidden gem of a waterfall. There were ledges 8, 25 and 35 feet high that you could jump from. Most of my party jumped off one or all of them and it was amazing. Ryan took great photos and videos to capture the memories. 4th stop: Lunch at The Smoking Boar and the Coconut!! OMG, great recommendation by Ryan. The place is a family owned restaurant (Ryan and Beccy's neighbors in fact). Everyone in our party (8 people) absolutely LOVED what they ordered. I even tried a few bites of others too and everything was absolutely delicious. Even my youngest, who is the pickiest easter eva could stop eating hers and kept saying how it was the best rice she ever tasted. 5th stop: Surfing the North Shore!!!! Only two people had done any kind of surfing and Ryan and Beccy had everything we would need. Down to the surfing clothes to avoid any rashes. The waves were perfect and everyone got up on their first try! Great instruction and really attentive to ensure we caught the wave and had the best experience. Ryan took photos and videos of the kids surfing and we got some great family photos at the end in front of the surf boards. Becky went tandem surfing with my youngest and she was AMAZING with her. My daughter didn't want to stop. In transit: Ryan and Beccy were great conversationalist and the drive didn't seem long at all to each stop because we were having so much fun just chatting. Overall: I would book them every day if I knew how amazing the day would be. My girls and the rest of the party said it was the best day of the trip. I wrote in the time that I wanted to start which was 1230 pm. I show up at 1230 exactly and go to check in at the outpost Hut. The 2 guys inside the Hut tell me they didn't see my reservation and they rented out all their balls to a group that just came in..... So...we had to WAIT until the group was finished to get the balls to play.... On top of that, I paid $10 per person to play, and the guy in the hut tells me there's only 6 or 7 holes available since they use the course to pop fireworks off of. New years was about a week ago!! You're telling me, you're too lazy to put back the holes for a whole week?! Cmon man..... Then, I ask for a cart to put all our stuff in and he tells me that they don't rent out carts but that I could get one at the golf hut. So my mom walks all the way over to the golf hut for them to tell her that they don't rent out golf carts for soccer golf......?! So then after all of this, the guy in the outpost hut tells me he will refund me the balls we rented as a way to make up the unfinished course and the time we had to wait for the balls to come back. That was nice of them.....except for the fact that he didn't do it!!! He was straight up lying. Bc i kept checking my account and I didn't see no refund pending from them.... So I waited 2-3 days then I finally call them back checking up on the refund. Explain the whole thing and I'm pretty sure the guy who answered the phone was the same guy who told me he would refund it to me the day of my reservation! So he puts me on hold and tells me that a manager has to be the one to refund me. So why did that guy in the outpost hut tell me he was refunding me if he really wasn't?!?! To top it all off, the course looks like crap. And they don't even have a score card to give you. Good thing I took a picture of their somewhat course layout so I knew where the heck I was going. The course is literally just grass that is so overgrown and bumpy that you cannot even call it foot golf. Save yourself time and don't go here.

I looked into a number of different fishing charters, but none seemed to offer the experience I was hoping for (very touristy and large group numbers) and then we found Hawaii Boat Tours. Darrin and CJ welcomed us onto their boat like we were part of their family. Darrin was incredibly professional as our Captain and made us all feel at ease and extremely safe, while CJ made sure everyone had an amazing experiencing bringing home some fish. These guys had a great sense of humor and kept us all laughing and smiling the entire trip. Will definitely be recommending booking an experience with these guys to all our friends and family. So I took my grandsons, 8 yrs and 5 yrs. When we got there, I realized they accepted CASH ONLY. Went to Kualoa Ranch (1 mile away) to use their ATM. Got back in time for the tour. Needless to say, I thought I would get attitude from my 8 yr old. He's a gamer and would rather be on his DS or iPad. But he LOVED it. Even I was a bit skeptical but from the time we boarded the bus, the comedy began. Surprisingly, half our group was local. The other half, visitors from Wisconsin and Arizona. We all had a great time. Great tour of the farm and the various trees and plants. Didn't know it was a film location for so many movies. And the fire dance was up close. Lessons on making fire and husking a coconut were so interesting. Got to taste fresh coconut. All the while, the jokes kept coming, non-stop. It was time well spent. Highly recommend this tour for locals and visitors. But don't forget to bring cash. $20 Adults, ($15 kamaaina) and $10 for kids. Note, they used to have an ATM there but it was stolen. Auwe!
