I've been to this shop numerous times while passing through Brea. Great place to drop in and some very quality cigars in their humidor -- priced well, alongside a very knowledgeable staff. I recently had the pleasure of running by Chad and Romero at Hopscotch in Fullerton (was there to support Judge Jeff Ferguson) and found out that Islands will be bringing a few of their finest sticks (and surprisingly delicious un-banded house brand cigars) to Hopscotch on the last Thursday of every month... pretty nifty! Again, wanted to send a big THANKS to Ro and Chad for their hospitality, and a quick shout to all the good folks who take to this shop -- truly a bunch of good people! Finally a nice little place to relax and have a cigar. As a former patron of a much larger place that required a paid membership, I find Islands is a great change of pace and Chad is really helpful. I didn't find paying for a place to smoke cigars to be worthwhile as someone who commutes to graduate school maybe every other week or so. I was happy to see that the selection shown in the photo of the walk-in humidor lived up to what I saw. It's a better selection than I find at other places, including the one where I had to have a paid membership. The prices are also the most reasonable that I've seen both in northern Orange County and back home on the Central Coast. Chad charges less even than "smoke shops" that have lower-quality humidors and poor selection. With two big-screen TVs and comfy chairs (especially in the little back room) it's just a nice place to hang out and smoke a cigar in peace. The folks who hang out are nice and the redone atmosphere is good. I'm glad I found a nice place to hang out during my visits to school. read more

5 Stars means "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" and that is how I feel about Islands Cigar Lounge. Most cigar shops, like at The Block in Orange or at The Spectrum in Irvine are too small to even sit in, no chairs, not personable and very small selection at high prices. This cigar lounge is the complete opposite. Great selection, best prices I've seen and I smoke at lots of different lounges, but mostly excellent customer service. The owner makes you feel like you've been friends for years and listens to you in order to get you the best cigar experience. The house blends are great! The hand-rolled cigars are amazing! It's a nice place to sit and have a smoke and unwind for a little while. All that was the cigar aspect of the store, but there's so much more. Shadi the owner, has a great selection of hookahs, and tobacco as well. As a hookah smoker, I know Starbuzz and Al Fakher, but he had some Fantasia I've never tried before and some new Hydro that is this tabacco-free herbal molasses. Awesome stuff! Great choices, great selections, great atmosphere. They have events, college nights, cigar tastings, hookah tastings, they're really involved with their customers and that's what I love most about it. read more

Okay I am not a regular cigar smoker but I have been into this lounge several times to get my father-in-law some nice cigars. He likes a certain type of Padron Cigars that I had a hard time finding. This lounge always has them on hand, and for the past two years this is where I go to get them. The owner is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The lounge areas are small, but it seems like a friendly place where you could enjoy a nice cigar with a lot of regulars... Maybe even become a regular yourself? Also, from what I understand, a lot of lounges charge a membership fee and require you to rent a locker. This lounge does not require a membership fee, which I assume is a plus for someone looking for a cigar lounge on a budget. I read other reviews about heavy smoke smell, but to me it's not overwhelming. It definitely smells like cigars, but the smell isn't bothersome. I recommend this lounge to anyone that enjoys cigars, or anyone like me who is looking for gifts for a cigar lover. read more

Islands is a cool little spot. But I do need to stress little. It's sectioned off into two areas - the front by the humidor, then a small (semi-cramped) back area. I've been more than a few times (as you can see by my check-ins) and I do like the owner, Shadi. Very nice guy and very helpful. He has big aspirations for his business and I'm sure he'll make it happen. Biggest complaint: No ventilation. They say they have suction, but I haven't experienced it. Even with the door open you oftentimes leave there smelling like heavy smoke. On a rainy day with the door closed you leave smelling like you were in Vegas for 12 hours. I'd recommend dropping the money on some good smoke eaters. You can get nice ceiling mounted ones for barely a grand. Their humidor is on the smaller side, but like I said, the shop is smaller itself so they work with what they have. Good selection at good prices. You'll find something you like regardless of your taste. Also, they do have a very inexpensive house blend which is a great value and pleasant to smoke. $5.99 a stick and that comes in various shapes, sizes, and styles. 3 stars for now - 4 stars with ventilation. I don't think I can give it 5 stars, just because I prefer a large selection and a large lounge. Lastly, I'm disappointed because of all the people with one friend and one review giving them 5 stars. As a long time loyal Yelper I have seen this tactic too many times, and frankly it pisses me off. Don't manipulate the curve on your business. If I'm wrong about that, then I'm sorry, but chances are they've got a couple of good friends helping them out. It's understandable, but please realize that it looks bad to the people that pay attention. read more

This is a very nice cigar lounge. I enjoyed coming here towards the evening. Prices are fair, not the lowest, but lower than Embassy. Islands has their own private line and they are good if you like the mellow smokes. Islands Cigar Lounge is a great place to have a smoke with friends and many times I've met a lot of great new people to enjoy a cigar and interesting conversation. Chad the owner is a really friendly guy who definitely knows his cigars...he can usually pick out a great tasting cigar for you with just 5 minutes of meeting you. You really feel at home when you have a cigar there. The oversized chairs in both front and back lounges are very comfortable. You can watch anything you desire on their flat screen tv's. I do not smoke cigars, nor do I particularly know much about cigars in general, but had thought that I would offer this review for the ladies (or gents) out there who are looking for a less intimidating location where the proprietors are tobacconist and the patrons enthusiasts. This is a long read, and I sincerely apologize, but hope that a description of my experience may be of benefit to those who has yet to have the pleasure of enjoying a cigar lounge. The initial justification for the trip to Islands was of course, first and foremost, due to the recommendations of the fellow yelpers. Secondly, with so little personal knowledge, it would be incredibly difficult for a person such as myself to purchase a acceptable collection of cigars to complete a presentable going-away present. I generally highly dislike going into stores where the items being sold are highly testosterone based, be it a gun shop, a motorcycle shop, or as here, a cigar shop. It is with genuine pleasure to admit that I was allowed a very pleasant experience at Islands. Ladies, I know that it is always hard to walk into a mainly male-dominated environment, because the attitude put forth to a female in such a setting is either condescension, or the feeling that you should probably go home and wash the slime off from all the bullshit being thrown around. However, this is absolutely not the case at Islands. I was there twice, the first time to pick out the cigars and humidor, and the next to pick up the merchandise after the humidor has been prepped for me. Initially, there were no one in the store other than Mark and Chris, who work there. I informed them of my reason for stopping by, and after the initial awkward conversation where Mark tried to delicately (and successfully) ask my budget for the present, him and Chris took close to thirty minutes to choose the right humidors and cigars for me, and both were diligent in explaining why each and every cigar was chosen over the others. After settling on my choices, I left for dinner, with the assurance that the humidor will be prepped during my absence. After returning from dinner, I saw the influx of patrons in the shop. Mark took the time to introduce me to a few of the patrons who were smoking in the shop, many of whom are very friendly and humorous. Of course there are a few who had the stuck up air, but in general everyone was very approachable and very willing to educate a cigar novice (such as myself). The environment was not intimidating, nor condescending, which is (at least to me) very hard to come by in a cigar lounge. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable, and I highly recommend Islands as a first place to go if you are a novice (such as myself) who wants to learn more about cigars, or even an expert who enjoys the company of fellow cigar enthusiasts. read more

Stopped by here today after going by a couple so called cigar lounges. They were smoke shops not true cigar lounges. This shop was fantastic. Great selection of hard to find smokes as well as all the top brands. They are friendly and very service oriented. Ended up staying for almost five hours enjoying two awesome sticks. I've been to Islands twice now. I wanted to check it out to see what kind of cigars they had. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. He's showed me to the humidor and I noticed that it was small. But inside they carried quality cigars. Nothing cheap that's going to fall apart on you. haha. I did notice that they are a little more pricey then other places that I've been to but not by much. The gentleman that worked there helped me out buy recommending a few different cigars. I ended up picking a couple that he recommend and he also gave me free house blend cigar. This is my first review. I was looking for a place to buy my new years eve cigar near my new home in Diamond Bar so I decided to check this place out. First off all, I am not friends or know the owner very well of Islands Cigars but he sure made me feel that way. The owner is great and really is helpful. This place has great prices and you really feel at home. He even invited me to go back that night to have a stog with him since he would be open all night. Now that's awsome customer service. I originally came to this place because I saw the hookah sign in the window, Chad recommended to me a brand that, at the time I never heard of, Fantasia. I really enjoyed it and since then I've tried all of the flavors that Islands gets in stock, never been disappointed with it, very flavorful brand. After awhile, knowing my hookah tastes he started recommend cigars that I may like, he was very helpful and informative, and very friendly with the customers.
