I have been smoking cigar for about 9 years. Been to lots of great places and smoked some outstanding sticks. Never really loyal to one spot until Islands. Came in about a year ago. I owed The Pizza Club (just closed after 7 great years of serving La Habra) which was about a mile up the road. One of my friends came in to buy a cigar for me and the owner (Chad) got to talking with him and gave him a couple of cigars to let me try. Yes, gave him!!! I was very impressed with these house blends and decided the next chance I had I would go check the shop out for myself. When I came in and introduced myself the owner remembered my friend (by name, thanks Anthony) and asked what I thought of the cigars and his lounge. I told him I liked the sticks he gave me and that I was not really looking for a place to smoke, just a place to buy. We chatted a little while, it didn't take long for me to recognize this guy knew his cigars and how to treat a potential new customer/friend. To make a long story short. This has now become my favorite spot. I have had great smokes, conversation, and just straight up seriouse man time in this place. Chad has become a good friend along with about 40 other outstanding ( yes, outstanding!!!) people I have met because of time spent in this Totally Awesome Lounge. A real hidden gem here in Brea. As stated above, I have smoked for a while and been in hundreds of smoke shops, but truth be told this place is by far one of the best and is now my only stop for cigars. Why??? Because as a business owner and someone who works an 80 hour plus work week. I need a place that makes me feel at home and were the conversation keeps me on my toes or holding my gut from laughing to much. The diversity of this place is great, with a rainbow of colors and ages (18 and older of course) you just can't go wrong. As for the few reviews that say his humador is small... he still has a better selection, with far better prices and as for the size of the place... I have been in here with 5 people or with 25 and the good times just keep getting better and better. The unique aspect of Islands would be that all the inventory in stock are extraordinary cheap and there is no membership fee so you can just come in, buy a cigar, sit down and relax. There are two rooms within the lounge, one in front and one in back, with flat screens in both rooms which gives the costumers the option of two different seating areas as well as two different television shows. It is nearly impossible to purchase a fine cigar at this place without the urge to sit down and have a great conversation with everyone there. A crowd favorite with Islands costumers are the occasional cigar events that are hosted at the lounge because with the amount of people smoking indoors, the atmosphere and the environment is not heavily smokey. It is the best time to socialize with people that are from every nationality and ethnic background as well as ages ranging from eighteen to sixty-five. ISLANDS - the only place I buy cigars in the Brea/whittier/la mirada/ la habra area! Chad is a great owner, helpful with the cigar suggestions and truly a friendly guy. I'm smoking at Islands on a semi-regular basis and never have I encountered anything except excellence from this place. Cigars - the cigars are in primo condition, perfect humidity and temperature. And the selection, WOW! One of my favorites was a hard to come by box of Romeo & Julieta TAA exclusive. They always have new releases or hard to get boxes. Price is moderate, but you're paying for the cigar as well as the environment. Environment - good ventilation, lots of comfy leather chairs, 2 big screens (1 in front, one in back). The most laid back, friendly regulars you could imagine. Every time I walk in, I feel like it's the cigar version of Cheers. Guys are always bringing in food/drink to share. Throughly enjoy the atmosphere, keeps my business! Can get full from 7-9pm in the back, so you better get in and get a chair :) Best of all no membership fee like other lounges in the area. BEST cigar shop/lounge/owner, HANDS DOWN. It does not get much better than this!! From someone that has been severely "bitten by the 'cigar' bug", that has tried over 100-150+ cigars in the past few months (ranging from $3.00 to $60.00 a stick, including Cubans, Opus', Anejos, etc.), and has visited 40+ stores across the US, I can confidently say that this place is EASILY the best all-around shop/lounge I've found and been to. Have I been to shops with larger selections? Sure. Have I ran into nice owners/employees at other stores? Yes. Big screen TV? That too. But what I haven't seen is a shop that: A) Actually stores their cigars at a perfect 68- 70/68-70 (saw the randomly placed digital temperature/hygrometer gauges with my own eyes), where every cigar is in pristine condition, mold-free, and is ready to smoke or take home. B) Owner/employees don't "hover" around you like you're going break/steal/burn-down/etc. something, but are always readily available if you have any questions. C) Has an AMAZING, VERY carefully thought-out cigar selection with the newest releases/replen/etc. every 1-2 days, rather than carrying anything and everything, just to fill up space. They carry the best-of-the-best "everyday smoke" to the "Special occasion" super-premium. The house-blends and great too! D) Chad, the owner, and his staff seem to genuinely care about you and your shopping/smoking experience. They really go out of their way to make sure you're well taken care of and feel appreciated. E) Super comfortable and clean lounge sofa/chairs, carpets, flooring, etc, F) Ice-cold beverages, in case you're thirsty. G) GREAT selection of not only cigars, but cigar accessories, hookah pipes/accessories, cigarettes, and more. H) VERY LOW prices!! Expect to pay WAY less (30-60%) than what Embassy, 8EightyEight, or any other lounge in SoCal will charge. (Even what you may find on the Internet!) I) No membership fees or any other fee for that matter. Just walk in, buy a cigar, cut/light it, sit back, and relax! J) All "walks-of-life" (age/race/sex/etc) seem to frequent the place, making you feel comfortable no matter what. Well, I finally made my way to this cigar lounge. I didn't know that it was here, even though I use Yelp for everything. Anyhow, this place boasted a perfect 5 stars with over 30 reviews which means I can rely on that. Made my way in and was pleased to see a sitting area in the front for about 5-6 people. They had the game going so that's a huge plus! Just behnd this front room is the humidor which has ample selection of many different cigars. They have houseblends which I am a huge fan of. I had 2 of them, their box pressed torpedo and a Robusto Robusto. Nice sticks, medium bodied, I would smoke them again. The prices for their cigars are pretty fair. The #26 was $17.99 and you know anywhere else, these would go for $22 and up. Behind the humidor is another back room with a TV. This area sits about another 5-6 people. The lounge was well ventilated, they sell soft drinks there and if you bring your own soft drinks, they're okay with that. I met Chad and we chopped it up about cigars and what not. I felt welcomed and comfortable. They close a little early (10pm) but have been known to stay open a little late, depending on the crowd which I think is a good business decision. This is my first review on yelp and I am happy to say it is a great one! Islands cigar lounge may seem small from the outside, but once you go inside, your world is changed. Once you are inside, you would assume that it has a heavy smoke smell in the air right? Not at all when you walk in. You can see the nice humidor room that has quiet a good amount of selections to pick from. Chad, one of the owners I was able to meet was very friendly and helpful towards picking cigars I would possibly like. He was very knowledgeable and knew what I was looking for. There are two sections to the lounge, the front and the back that has a nice flat screen to watch whatever you please. I can really say I felt at home because it was a cozy environment that I wish I can call man cave. I came here for the first time with a couple friends since it had great reviews and all of us walked out with great satisfaction. We are already trying to plan our next visit if you are wondering if we would come back. Couldn't have been a better night to watch the NBA playoffs and hang out with close friends at what I can call a great cigar lounge. This is a great place!! I met chad who helped me out on my first visit. Kind and generous man who took the time to show me around and offered to help me find all the things I wanted.
