I normally love Islands, however went in with my friend and her kids just now - will not ever go back to this location. 1.) Fries were rock hard and cold 2.) Took three requests for a refill and 20 minutes for said refill of our tea to come. 3.) The manager actually walked past our table and saw all four beverages lined up waiting for a refill. 4.) When we finally got refills and fresh fries, the fries came with hair in it! 5.) Manager blamed me for not telling her sooner about the hair in the fries!!! I've been eating at Islands for over 20 years and have been enjoying the Orange location since 1999. The service is always prompt and friendly and the food is delicious. My favorite burger is the Hula on wheat with avocado. Their fries are bottomless but one serving is usually enough as the food is very filling. Their shakes and desserts are always a treat too! This islands is your typical chain burger joint. They have fresh ingredients on their burgers and plenty of options if you don't want beef. I'm pretty simple when it comes to a hamburger so I haven't explored their more adventurous options. I love their fries, they've got a really good seasoning on them. The restaurant itself is a little dirty--the booths and tables are bit sticky and salty. But the staff has always been pleasant and I've never come when it's been particularly crowded. read more

Stopped-in here recently to grab a bite. I hadn't eaten at an Islands in a long time but I was glad to see that their food was still on-point, servers we met were friendly and the decor really helps you feel a relaxed, island vibe which is nice on a rainy Tuesday night. Came in with family. We were asked if we were ready, however didn't even have a chance to order drinks and didn't have a menu. When asked for an actual menu it seemed to be an issue. We were given a printed out a couple of stapled papers. They no longer offer the unlimited fries, in fact they no longer include fries with any of the entrees except the kids meals. I get things have gone up in price however they not online raised prices but removed the fries that were usually included. Still waiting for our food however we will not be coming back anymore. The price to eat here has officially become unreachable for an average family. read more

Normally this place is a solid three stars. Your basic burger and brews perfect for a late afternoon lunch-not today! For a place w unlimited fries...totally missed the mark. We ordered fries w our drinks..never came until we asked again. Then w food and finally fries showed, ordered more-the second order took 20 min Food took forever to arrive. Ordered at 1250 food showed at 106. And we ordered basic burger, kids chic fingers and a salad! Never was checked on about accuracy of food till we had eaten it all. No drink refills. Till we asked. We won't be back to this location. We will stick to the Anaheim Hills one where clearly focus is on customer experience. This orange one is just a mess. Bathroom was out of to and a bit in shambles. Went here again on Labor Day I had the perfect view of the kitchen staff as they were eating French fries out of a metal bowl and talking to the chef then the chef poured French fries into the same bowl I had watched the staff eat out of and pour them into a basket being sent to a table. I then watched the same staff members eat watermelon and walk around back to the fry bowl and simultaneously eat fries and watermelon and having a wonderful holiday at work. I saw a staff member in a button up shirt thinking he was at least a supervisor and he also partook of the watermelon. Drinks were somewhat kept refilled and at least my fries were dumped straight into the basket and not the metal trough that the wait staff were eating out of. I did see a few staff leave the kitchen without washing their hands after their snack. This is my first time seeing such unprofessional behavior of the kitchen staff. I have no problem if they are eating but shouldn't that happen in a break room and not while they are serving food and not eating out of a bowl that I saw someone serve from. This is gross I hope that something is done and this is not continued. I was with a large party and all of us were disgusted I'm not sure we will ever return after that. read more

Second visit here. The restaurant sponsored free kids meal certificates for kids who win in their category at swim meets. Without these certs, we probably don't know they existed nor will we come here nor come back. It's a 2.5 rating, I round up instead of down since the free kids meals saved us some money. If your stick your orders to burgers, you'll be ok. Outside that, just so so. Service is just so so. Location convenient. I hadn't been to Islands in a loooong time. There are so many burger options and small businesses I guess this place just fell off our radar. After visiting a family member in the hospital, we were starving and stopped by on the way home. Ordered a Maui burger and sweet potato fries. Dear Lord the fries are awesome! Burger was also good. I had to write tonight to say what an AMAZING experience we had with Islands. I know times are tough with restaurants having to adjust to Covid protocols and carry out orders and take out and general Covid fatigue. We came here for take out and our server Andrew treated us as if we were sat at a five star high end establishment with no signs of Covid fatigue at all. We ordered over the phone while we were sat in the carry out parking slots. Andrew came out to confirm our order, take our payment and then, before our food came out- brought our drinks to us to have while we waited. He was very attentive to all the extras we ordered as far as sweeteners for our tea, dressings for the salad and ranch for the fries. Then- without any suggestion from us- he even brought us refill drinks to enjoy with our dinner just in case we had already drank our beverages while waiting for our meals. Honestly it was one of the friendliest, most attentive, perfect service experiences I've ever had dining in or dining out. If Andrew would be so kind and be our server at every restaurant we go to from now on- that'd be great!! Keep up the great work. We'll definitely be back. I am really happy that Islands is open for dine in. This is our 1st time going out for dinner after the restaurants were closed due to COVID. I was there on Friday evening and the service was amazing. I am very pleased with the server George. He was very kind and attentive. Such a sweet young man. Stopped by for lunch walked up to the door and there is no social distancing and customers weren't wearing masks when i asked the employee out front why they were letting people in with out masks even though the sign out front says masks required he said that iy was only a suggestion. So if they are taking health and safety as a suggestion ill be taking my business elsewhere. Not sure why this place is rated so well. Have come twice now to this location and it seems the staff is inattentive, not particularly friendly, and slow. It's kind of hard to explain the vibe -- it is mostly run by a bunch of inexperienced teenaged girls that don't really care about the customers. The only reason this is 2 stars and not 1 is because the manager seemed reasonable and friendly, but it took him 5-10 minutes to come over to resolve the billing issue. read more

We were promptly greeted with a nice welcome when we came in for lunch. Karla was our waitress, and she was great. She was patient and very friendly. For the last few years I have been going to Islands occasionally. Not only have they been raising prices and making new charges for things, but the service is getting worse. I have had so many bad experiences and am so confused why I keep going, but I went again. Tonight I went with my girlfriend because she has had mostly good experiences there. She got a salad and I got a beach bowl. The waitress was nice, but either got her order wrong or the chef made it wrong. It wasn't a huge problem and they fixed the issue but once we got the receipt, noticed she was charged $4 extra for crispy chicken rather than grilled. I felt that $4 is kind of absurd. I also noticed that 90% of the appetizers on the menu were the same price as the entrees around $10-11. Makes no sense to me. We got an $8.50 quesadilla that had only cheese and a couple peppers in it, with a little sour cream on the side. Even this wasn't worth the $8. To top things off, we are now laying in bed after making a late night trip to CVS to buy pesto bismal because our stomachs are churning. Needless to say, I think this is the last time for real before I go to another islands. read more
