Great staff, decent choice of movies but the food counter always seems to be dirty as hell! Where's management to tell them to clean up when they're not busy instead of texting or talking with others? Other reviewers seem to have a problem with cash only and blindly accuse the theater of other practices. Me, if I know that I'm going in there I go to an ATM machine beforehand. A really nice little cinema to catch a movie with friends and the prices are way cheaper than other cinemas. They have plenty of drinks and snacks to choose from which is amazing and the staff is always kind. I love this little cinema and would love for it to stay in its beautiful town. read more

This was our first time seeing a movie here. My husband and I went to an earlier Friday night movie. There is a parking lot behind the theater, but you have to walk past the side of the building which is littered with garbage, tall grass, tall weeds and an open dumpster right at the curb. Once inside it looks freshly painted and the total staff included three young people, one for tickets and two at the concession stand. I saw no adults, no security, no police checking bags or purses. As you walk in there is a mild musty smell which we tried to overlook and went right to the concession stand for snacks before the film. The girl said the popcorn was just popped, but it was not warm at all. They do have a large selection of candy. I ran to the bathroom first, which was not the cleanest. There were cheesie snacks on the stall floor and a pile of chewed gum stuck on the linoleum tile. Once inside the theater there was such a strong odor of moldy, musty, old basement type odor that we discussed asking for a refund and leaving, but really wanted to see the movie. I spent a good deal of time with a napkin over my nose as I knew it would bother my allergies. I can't help wonder what the air quality is inside or if the theater has been tested for mold. Not the best experience here and we won't be back. read more

The regular cost for movies at this theater is $10 for adults, which is lower than average. However, for that price you also sit in a colder than average theater (in winter) with no toilet paper in the ladies room. I would have been able to overlook that fact if they had bothered to do anything about replacing the toilet paper when I told them about it. It's an old town theatre, nothing better then keeping our small town businesses running. It may need an upgrade and a good cleaning, but you won't go broke taking your family out to a movie. you can get tickets and a kids meal snack box for a family of 4 for under $50. I will always choose this place first. keep our towns running. support Mom and Pop shops. read more

This place is great! I love taking my kids here. Affordable and they have a great kids popcorn meal deal. This is an old fashion type movie theatre but they still have 3D. Whoever gave this theatre low stars deserves to pay those crazy prices and wait on long lines at deer park. read more

Saw the movie Central Intelligence. Great movie! The theatre Section 3 was fabulously clean and comfortable. The other two sections are great too, but section 3 had two levels. 'Nuff said. Saw Ice Age here and it exceeded my expectations to the tee. I couldn't stop laughing. Go see it. read more

This Theater hasn't changed since I was a kid 30 years ago. Think some of the stains I left back then are still there! That being said, I still go there. Enjoy the fact that no one likes the theater that much. Enjoy being the only one watching the movie! read more

Old town theater in a nice town. Love taking the kids there (and all of their friends cause it is affordable) It's not like the mega movie theaters so it may not be enjoyable if that is what you are looking for. read more

What a great little theater for the town of Islip! I am so glad my family and I came here to see "The Secret Life of Pets" instead of going to a larger, national theater chain. I love that fact that I am investing in the community and getting the experience I expect. And as a bonus - the tickets were MUCH cheaper than what I normally would spend. Not a happy customer and not a person that leaves bad reviews...Head's up, They are twice the price of Savyille Cinema and sayville is the exact quality. (Sayville prices under this review ) Went here and it was pretty rough. If the owner is reading this, your manger is pretty rude. Islip Cinema changed prices (or started enforcing different ages(?) this week ) and didn't honor the old price for our kids, not that they have to, but it is not changed/explained on website, fb, or (hard to understand) recorded voicemail. I checked. They sent my kids home when they went to buy tickets. By the time they got more money to watch the movie, they missed the first 20 minutes of the movie. When i called the manager and explained that they didn't honor the price they had given our friends the week prior (with no changes posted online) and asked what she would do about it she told me i was wrong, told me my kids were 11 and 12 (they are 10 and 11) and she had to take another call and had to get off the phone. She also told me my friend, who brought the kids, was rude. She's really not. My friend is super sweet and my goal is to have 10% of her kindness. Sadly, this show was a reward for my daughter bc her camp counselor praised her kindness. Anyways, Sayville tickets are $5 all day Tuesday, $5 until 6pm all other days, and $6 for kids after 6pm and $7 for adults on non-tuesdays. They have always been above reproach and hosted a great Birthday party for my kids. Islip is double Sayville's best price and Islip is pretty mean. read more

Nice little place to go locally. Cheap tickets. Think it was under $20 for 3 people. Don't think you can find a cheaper place to go on a rainy day around here. Small theatre. Is advise to get there early. Other than that, can do some upgrades but are not that necessary. read more

This movie theater was closed for years until it reopened during the summer of 2013. I went here when I was a teenager 20 years ago. Now you have to keep in mind that it is not a new megaplex like Regal Cinemas in Deer Park. It only has three screens and no stadium seating. The theater upstairs has what was probably considered stadium seating 20 years ago. I have probably gone 5-6 times since they reopened and have been a little disappointed. A couple times the movie didn't start on time and /or the lights didn't shut off and the management had to be told that it wasn't running. One time the movie projector didn't work. One time the soda machine wasn't working and another time it was flat. The sound isn't that great either. I usually only go for a movie that I would probably just wait for DVD. If it's a blockbuster I go to Deer Park. It's $5 for the first showing of the day and I think $7-8 for other showings. You can't expect too much for that price. Concessions are reasonable priced too. It is cash only. Positives- They only show like one or two previews before the movie starts. I love my previews, but Deer Park shows like 20 minutes of previews. It's out of control. Another nice thing is that if you are from Bay Shore, Islip, or East Islip it's close vs. driving 20 minutes to Deer Park or Holtsville. Also, whenever I have gone there weren't many people there so you didn't have to worry about a packed theater. I just feel like this place has so much potential and I wonder how they are surviving based on my experiences. I have so many ideas for this place. It's right on Main Street.
