His prices were very competitive and he did a few extra things we had not discussed at no extra charge, so that his workmanship would not be compromised. Ismael has been awesome! We contacted him at the same time as another upholsterer who came highly recommended on Yelp. Both requested pictures of the antique Morris chairs we wanted to re-upholster. Both were sent the pictures at the same time -- Ismael replied back within 24 hours and scheduled a visit to our home. He brought a wide variety of sample fabrics, conducted a thorough inspection of the chairs, and quoted us a fair price for the work. A week later, we got a response from the other company -- by then our chairs were already halfway completed by Ismael. Ismael does fabulous upholstery work. He is an artist in the trade. He upholstered two Norwegian couches in leather as well as a set of our antique dining room chairs. He also did custom upholstery to fit two odd sized antique chairs. All the work was immaculately done. When Ismael found that the old antique webbing wasn't good inside, he replaced it at no additional cost to us because he believes in high quality work. He is friendly, fast and always finishes work on time or early. He picks up and delivers all over the Bay area. We were in a hurry to get our couches done. He came over at 7:30 a.m. to double check whether or not we liked the leather before working on the couch. I highly recommend him if you want a good, efficient, job. Ismael made several box cushions for one new and one antique piece. We needed an old mid-century chair restored with new seat and back cushions and new webbing for the seat, as well as a large cushion for an indoor/outdoor teak bench. I called Ismael on a Friday, he came by within an hour, gave me a quote and told me he might have it done in 2-3 weeks... but by Tuesday of the following week, he was done! Within a week, I had all new cushions and a restored chair! The box cushions are beautiful, have welting details, and are of quality foam that will last for many years to come. Ismael made sure the chair seat and back cushions highlighted the motif on my upholstery that I wanted, and that the fabric matched as it turned from the seat to the face of the chair.
