I wanted this place to be as good as the Yelp Reviews. I have been trying to go to this place for several years since pre-Covid. We went on a weeknight and there was no wait. It is in a strip center but the inside is decorated nice. The staff was sweet and our particular waitress was trying hard but was not very experienced. Although place only had one other couple there, she sat us in the corner of the room behind a partition which sort of started the night off a little. They have limited beer and wine but the cab by the glass was good we were served two warmed biscuits with olive oil drizzled. It had ok flavor but was sort of strange at an Italian place. We still tried to compliment the exoerience so far waiting for some of the special tastes that were mentioned in Yelp. Trying to eat healthier I ordered the salmon with a side salad. They really couldn't offer any steaming of veggies rather than the sautéing so the lack of flexibility for healthier options was a real turn off for me. My husband ordered a chicken Milano and penne dish ( only four pasta options to choose from) and the sauce was flavorful but the chicken itself lacked seasoning which made the dish flat. My salmon was over cooked and probably was the most "fishy" salmon I've ever had. I was starving so everything was edible but tasted like what I could have made at home not being a great chef myself. We decided to take a pizza home to salvage the lackluster experience so we ordered the Italiamissimo Pizza and asked for it to stay uncut to prevent it from being soggy when we made it home. The crust has a nice flavor and it was well-garnished with ingredients but the pizza itself was average. While I hate to do bad reviews I want those serious Yelpers who love authentic Italian food to be spared from trying it. You are better off going to Adriatic Cafe, Campioni or Carrabas. I wish the restaurant well but I would rate this place somewhere you go if you live close by and are just looking for a place to eat. Nothing special. read more

Food is good prices are reasonable! I personally won't be back because of the experience I had but doesn't mean the food wasn't good! I had the lasagna and I barely ate any so they pack up your food in the back. I was unaware that I had no meat sauce until got home! My partner had the chicken Marsala and she didn't have any sauce! No one wants to eat dry food so I called them spoke to a manager who was really nice and advised of the issue and how I was 40 mins away. He asked me how can he make it right! I advised that I needed meat sauce and Marsala to be replaced with extra sauce he said no problem. I got there and I was charged for the Marsala that I thought would be comped due to me having to drive 40 mins back there and then home! But never the left I didn't even have any energy to dispute it I was tired and wanted to get home it was late! Fast forward to the following day I just have marina sauce but no meat! I just have lasagna pasta with no meat and loads of ricotta. I'm extremely disappointed read more

Second time at this restaurant and we had a very enjoyable dinner. The Veal Marsala is excellent as well as the Capellini San Marco (which has shrimp, mushroom, capers, tomato). Chicken parmigian was good. Serving sizes were generous and we decided to eat family style. All dishes came with a house salad. Shania provided good service. We will be back! read more

My mom and I were out for Italian food and her favorite spot had a one hour wait. I searched for other options and came across Italian Cafe. Giant pizza ovens behind glass and comfortable chairs and tables welcome Ed us upon entering. Salad included with entrees and they make there own dressing. I had the blue cheese and mom had the Italian. Both were superb. I had the chicken Leonardo and mom had the lasagna. Both were heaping plates of food with the taste of fresh Italian homemade cuisine. Fresh baked garlic knots went well with dinner. Having worked at a fancy Italian restaurant in the 90s, and have tasted food styles from all regions of Italy, prepared by professional chefs, I can say this was an excellent meal. I typically don't write negative reviews, however, this place has gone from a great restaurant to a poorly ran restaurant. I understand the price increases, menu changes, happy hour changes, etc. The quality of the food is not what it used to be. The rolls are burnt, and the pizza is overcooked. We used to frequent this place on a weekly basis. In fact, we told family, friends and neighbors about this place. They have all experienced the same issues with food quality. My husband and I heard of this place from one of our neighbors after having lived in the neighborhood for 4 years! And after trying the food, both of us where so surprised and upset to not have heard of it before because everything was PHENOMENAL. For appetizers, we ordered some of the Mozzarella Fritti, which were delicious and crispy with a yummy marinara sauce. We also had side salads with our meal which were left mostly untouched but were nice and fresh (shame on us). For the main course, I had the Grilled Chicken Leonardo dish, which came with angel hair pasta in a creamy Parmesan sauce, and when I say it was to die for, I mean it . My husband had Fettuccini Alfredo, and thoroughly enjoyed it. And, because we were curious about the pizza, we also ordered a large cheese pizza. Now let me tell you about this pizza... the bread IS EVERYTHING. It reminded me of a freshly baked French bread I used to eat growing up in Central America. It is light, airy, and has just enough crisp to complement the melted cheese and tomato sauce. All in all, 10/10 experience. We are adding this place to our go-to take out list! read more

I'm in love with this little joint after one visit! I had the capellini de Marco (shrimp, capers, lemon butter) and it was delicious. The shrimp were large and meaty and it was adequately seasoned with capers. Yum, yum! Plus it was enough for two meals. We also ordered the fried Mozzarella and this is a must!! I will never be able to eat fried mozzarella again unless it's from the Italian Cafe. It was so flavorful and not to thick. I highly recommend getting it. My husband order the pepperoni pizza and it was good. One of the better "restaurant pizzas" I've had. I can't wait to try more. read more

I'm a New Yorker Italian living in Texas, so I'm always looking for places that have food that tastes like home. Happen to drive past this place and when I looked online I saw it said the owner was from New York. I'm very picky about restaurants trying to label their pizza as "New York style pizza", but this place taste just like it! The sauce was amazing. My boyfriend isn't a big pizza eater and even he said it was the best pizza he's ever had. We also got the chicken piccata and that was also very good. Everything tasted fresh. I was pleasantly surprised by Italian Cafe. A quaint unassuming restaurant in the middle of a strip mall. The interior reminds me of a scene out of Lady and the Tramp. The garlic bread that they provide was a little underwhelming. The bread itself did not come out warm, it was harder than I had expected and instead of being basted with a little butter and garlic, it appeared to have olive oil and parmesan cheese drizzled over the top. The fettucini Alfredo with shrimp was delicious. the pasta was perfectly cooked and came already tossed with fresh black pepper. The shrimp were large and were not overcooked at all. I loved that the alfredo was creamy but not too thick or too heavy on the cream and cheese. The service was fast and polite. I would give this place a try again. read more

An unassuming strip mall location but I guarantee you'll have a better experience than Olive Garden faux elegance. We had a family dinner there and had a fine experience. Starting with the bread, which is garlic knots. These are very light rolls baked crisp on the outside with parmesan and plenty of olive oil--it pools on the plate. I like plenty of oil on my Italian bread, so I was very happy and inhaled two, but if you don't like so much oil this might put you off. For an appetizer we had the bruschetta, which was quite delicious. The combination of tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and olive oil was perfect on the thin-sliced bread. I almost ruined my dinner on it. I enjoyed the house salad--all arugula with onion and cherry tomatoes, no cheap iceberg. The dressing has a bit of a thousand-island look to it but is very Italian and tasty. We had several fettucini alfredo lovers in our party, and all rated it just fine. I tried the one with Italian sausage--they say it is spicy, and they mean it. The warmth really makes the dish. We had a pepperoni and sausage pizza, and it's one of the best I've had at an Italian restaurant. The pizza is New York style, with plenty of ingredients but not sloppy. The pepperoni and sausage were both just perfect--the pizza sausage is not spicy, just pleasantly seasoned. The crust is crisp but not brittle, with just enough salt to taste it. A real highlight. We also had cheese ravioli with the creamy tomato sauce. The ravioli was done just right and ate well with the sauce. The sauce itself was nicely savory and a great complement. Our picky eater got it and was very happy. Another entree we sampled was the special--short ribs in marinara sauce with penne pasta. It's not visually appealing but was very tasty. The pasta was overall cooked well, just slightly uneven but not offensively so. The beef had great flavor, was just a little chewy across the grain but not bad. The dish overall was very filling--I got three good meals out of it and was quite happy. There were a couple of less than perfect items. There is a healthy option on the menu for those avoiding gluten--a chicken breast with sauteed vegetables. I can't recommend it. The chicken was dry and overdone. Might have been tasty otherwise, but not worth finishing. It's very difficult to get a plain chicken breast just right, Taste of Texas is about the only place I've been that could do it. For dessert we had a cannoli. It was a deep brown and very firm--I had trouble breaking it with the fork. That said, this is the direction you want to err with a cannoli, it's way better than being chewy or soft. I enjoyed my crunchy cannoli and finished it all. The decor is minimal, a few posters to give it that New York Italian feel. One server does all the work for you, there are no roles. The place is very tight inside, just like a little New York bistro--you might have to go through the server station to get in and out. The bathrooms were similarly minimal in decor but clean and ready. The Italian Cafe caters, and I've heard good things about the food though I have not experienced it myself. All in all, I would go here rather than Olive Garden any time I wanted the Italian experience. read more

The pizza was as good as always; thank goodness I arrived before the crowds hit about 6:30 however it is a Saturday. The Pinot Noir was delicious and not overly priced. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. My only issue, and this is just me, I didn't like the shirt tails hanging out. It wasn't too noticeable on the servers but it was very obvious on the hostess. That's supposed to be an elevated position so look the part. read more

Great food! The Fra Diablo was spicier than I expected, but to my liking. The chicken marsala was "the butteriest, richest marsala" my boyfriend had ever had. I don't usually care for marsala too much, but I am definitely getting it next time. The chicken alone was plump and moist enough to envy, and I was enjoying my dish. We split a bottle of cabernet, which we enjoyed, and we started the meal of with bruschetta, which was very good. The service was decent, but it's no fine dining experience. The server forgot the garlic knots (BLASPHEMER!), and the wine service was amateur, but honestly, it wasn't at all bad. I've worked in fine dining, so I can be a little critical of the small things, but I'm also not about to take such small discretions out of the tip. The server was pleasant and helpful, and that was all I needed. Overall, I'm sure we'll be back. The food is great, the price is worth it, the service is decent, and the atmosphere is all right. I like the food. I tried the Leonardo Chicken and found it to be cooked to perfection, with the right amount of sauce, angel hair, and proportions for the money. I really liked the topping on the chicken, and the way the chicken was cooked, moist, thoroughly cooked, and super flavorful and savory. Very impressive for the money. Honorable mention for their house salad vinegrette, which is different, only slightly tangy, and ever more slightly creamy, just a slight touch. That really grabbed my attention. The garlic butter rolls needed olive oil and seasoning, but that was my fault for ordering out. The staff was quick to prepare, and very hospitable. I will definitely be returning for another bite!
