Clearly, they were too busy to even deliver my food. I called after my food had been 30 minutes late and they assured me it was on the way. I called again after it didn't arrive for ANOTHER 30 MINUTES and they lied and told me again it was on the way. I NEVER received my food no joke. They also took the phones off the hook for over THREE HOURS to prevent anyone from even getting in touch with them.They NEVER contacted me once to tell me that my food was never coming. I found this restaurant by accident, as I originally wanted to try the restaurant next door but it was closed. While the restaurant may not look like much on the outside (nor the inside), the food was AMAZING. If you are looking for a sit down restaurant, this is not it. There are 2 tables on the inside of this very small restaurant, and one very small table outside. They also offered extremely limited drink options (not even water) so I walked elsewhere to get drinks while waiting for the food. When I say limited, I mean they only had a few small bottles of Coke and Pepsi and some liter bottles of soda, so both quantity and type are limited. Italiano's offered Halal food though, and that was important for our group. I ordered a lamb gyro and it was hands down the best gyro I have ever had...and I've had a lot! The lamb was flavorful, tender, and there was LOTS of it, which I loved! I ate it so fast, I forgot to take a picture. We ordered a large French fry for the group, which was plentiful for our group of 7. This was a restaurant that I most likely would have walked on by, but I'm so glad we gave it a chance and had the best gyro in ages!!! read more

I have eaten many gyros in my time, and I am very confident in my words when I say that this place has one of the best gyros I have ever eaten. The chicken and lamb gyro is a dish that is messy to eat, but this may be due to the fact that I become a ravenous animal as I consume the delicacy served in the form of a gyro. I have yet to try any of the other menu items, however the gyros are too high on my list to even want to try anything else. I would not be surprised if 10 or 20 years from now I share tales with my children about the magical gyros which this place served. Tip - you can ask to have sriracha with your gyro. read more

Food Quality: 4 stars BEST Chicken Over Rice in the area. Also, it's affordable at $7.99. The chicken is tender with good flavor, similar to Halal Guys. Though it's definitely not the same and cannot compare to Halal Guys in NYC, it's still very good. They do drench the Chicken Over Rice with white sauce and can often request for more without any additional charge. Service/Experience: 3.5 stars Average service, as there isn't much to complain about and haven't had any problems. It did take about 10 minutes for the Chicken Over Rice to be ready. Huge portions for the price. One of my favorite quick(ish) places to fill up. Food tastes great

If you were to define average in the dicitionary, it would read " a single value which Summarizes or generalizes the significance of a set of values." If you were to define entomophagy, it would read "the eating of insects, especially by people". Admittedly, Neither of these definitions represents italianos... except for the first one. The restaurant is average in most senses of the word, with no memorable decor, cinderblock walls and vaguely ominous vibrations. Our orders were taken comparatively quickly, for a group of 45 year old alumni smashed on mad dog, nostalgia and prescription anti-depressants for a Thursday night tailgate which went past our collective corporate bed time, but not entirely competently. Several times I asked for extra Parmesan or Marinara, much to the confusion of the cashier. I figure there are two options to explain the cashier not knowing what I meant, either A, they are not staffing their A game on Thursday nights, or B, this place isn't actually runs by Italians. I don't think I'm prejudiced in saying that Italians know what Parmesan cheese is. Maybe They should call this place, "vaguely Mediterraneanos", because that might be more accurate. Either way, at least hook it up with some of that kraft sawdust that comes in the green can. The food came out quickly enough, and was ok, but like I said I'm a drunk 46 year old man who really just wants to relive my college years through any means available. If failing to do a keg-stand with the help of my former fraternity brothers, or shot gunning a beer during a pta meeting won't do this, then eating sub-par pizza will. My medium pizza ended up costing 17 dollars, which I felt was absurd because for that same price I could have bought 17 dollars worth of food from somewhere else. I blame inflation. Days later I am left with a salty taste in my mouth, reflecting both the adequate experience, our football teams poor performance, and the plastic cup full of salt they gave when asked for seasoning. I probably wouldn't go here again, but what does it matter where I go, I'll never be in college again and every career move since then has been another notch on the totem pole, one more advancement on the winding board game of monopoly that ends with death. My family and I have searched the NRV for a good Greek restaurant. Italiano's listing was under Pizza and Italian food. What is only known to few is their Greek foods. We saw that Italiano's delivers and decided to try their Gyros. So glad we did! The fillings in the pita bread were so generous that we had to use a fork to eat all of it. The lamb was excellent. The food arrived about 15 minutes early and was piping hot! We haven't tried their pizza yet, but if its anything like their Greek offerings they should have a stampede. The gyros were only 5.99 each and were very filling, we didn't even eat the French fries. My sons are large and have a "hungry man appetite" and they were full. We definitely will be back and highly recommend their food and delivery read more

This place in my years of undergrad at Virginia Tech has easily become one of my go-to's for late night munchies. It used to remain open a lot later than it currently does, but the food never upsets when I need a pick-me-up from late night study sessions at the library. Whenever I come here, I always order the same thing... chicken and/or lamb over rice! The white and red sauce adds the perfect richness to the protein and rice while adding some flavor to the simple veggies on top. The garlic knots at this place are pretty good too if you need something on the side. Together, the two are easy enough to feed 2 people because the rice dish alone will definitely fill you over (it is VERY filling to finish the rice bowl on your own). This place in my experience is somewhere that you wanna grab to go because the restaurant itself is small and doesn't offer the best seating, but don't let that stop you from ordering here! read more

I visited Italiano's recently as an alumnus of Virginia Tech and really wish I had known about it during my 4 years there. I ordered a gyro and my girlfriend had lamb on rice and they both were very flavorful. The sauce was really good and the fries that came with my gyro were crispy and delicious. Each meal was around 8$ which is completely worth the filling portions. It's definitely not a high class family restaurant but I would argue that they serve top notch food for college kids. Next time I visit Tech, I will be visiting Italiano's as well. Definitely recommend. read more

I wish I had taken a photo before posting my review. After a long day, the family and I were exhausted and hungry. We ordered delivery to our home, and we were not disappointed. I ordered two baked spaghetti's to split amongst my four children, and we only needed one. The second dish is currently sitting in the fridge untouched. My husband and I both had a Philly cheesesteak and Greek salad; both were great. The cajun fries were delicious. We also ordered cannolis and baklava's, and you cannot deny they were made with quality ingredients. They were so rich and delicious. Only been to blacksburg twice and I was in the mood to eat halal guys and i hear this place was pretty good. I was not disappointed. The food is pretty good and affordable especially for their size, also filling. They serve pizza, gyros, burgers, calzone and rice plates. I only had their mix chicken and lamb rice and that was pretty good, wish i had more thats how goof it was. Gets pretty busy during game day. Food is good, service is not. I've ordered from here a few times over GrubHub. It seems to be 50/50 whether or not they'll cancel my order without reason. If they do, they'll cancel my order after I've already waited at least 45 minutes. When they cancel my order, they claim I'm outside of their delivery zone despite the fact they've delivered to me before and will probably deliver to me next day. When my wife decided to call to ask why they're so inconsistent with delivery, they put the chef on and he yelled at her that they don't have time for our stupid orders, that he resented making deserts, and to *expletive* off. If you're able to deal with grumpy service and aren't looking for delivery, their food is amazing. Probably the best italian in town. read more

The food is AMAZING! The calzones are delicious, but my favorite dish is the lamb over rice with hot sauce. It's incredible. I've eaten inside the restaurant once and it does have very limited seating, but we had no problems. Since then I have had it delivered twice, and both times the food was perfect and delivered early. I don't understand why restaurants set a delivery radius on websites like grubhub when they aren't willing to deliver anywhere in that radius. About 40 minutes after waiting from when I ordered, grubhub calls me to tell me that Italiano's cancelled because it was too far for them to deliver. This is ridiculous. If you aren't willing to deliver in a set radius, don't put that radius. Your restaurant is twelve minutes from my house. That's too far? Needless to say, if you aren't willing to drive twelve minutes to deliver your food, then twelve minutes is much too far for me to drive to get your food ever again. read more
