I opted for a modern spin on poutine - El Camino was a bowl filled with roasted pork, crispy potatoes, micro-greens, pickled onions, topped with 2 perfectly cooked poached eggs and the most delicious and light version of hollandaise sauce. The food was really good. My eggs Benny and pesto potatoes were some of the best I've had. The service and general vibe of the serving staff was some of the weirdest ive ever experienced. We were told that the wait was 30-40mins so we were added to the waitlist over an hour later we ask how much longer and were given a blank stare by the clearly overwhelmed hostess. The manager told us they were setting up our table and it was taking longer because they had to find a spot for the baby in our party. 15 mins later we asked again how much longer it would be because people with the same size party that joined the waitlist after us were being seated. We finally got seated and had to ask for a high chair so the comment about finding a spot for the baby clearly wasn't true. Our server wasn't wearing a bra (call me old fashioned but undergarments should be part of dress code) and didn't smile the entire time. When we looked around none of the servers were smiling. All the servers looked dismal and upset. Our server barely interacted with us. It was very robotic and bored feeling which was really off putting and made us feel as if we had done something wrong in asking about our extraordinary wait time. Luckily the food was really good. Pesto potatoes are amazing. Won't be back and wouldn't recommend to anyone wanting to come out of a restaurant feeling good. read more

Server was very nice but busy. Food arrived before our beverages ....then it got worse ! The crepes in one dish were so chewy they were hard to eat. The potatoes were very gooey and whatever sauce that was on the poutine tasted off,or maybe it was the lardons of bacon that were mostly fat with no meat. As a local Victorian I can think of many other breakfast places with great food and fresh ingredients and where you don't pay so very dearly for a fresh breakfast. Visiting from the States and stopped here for a quick bite. Absolutely delicious food and great customer service. We ordered the threesome (french scramble, chicken blueberry bangers, and waffle) and the chia pudding. All of it was soo yummy!! For drinks we had cappuccinos and smoothies, 10/10 recommend. Wow what a letdown. I used to love this place it was my go to brunch spot. But after this i honestly dont know if i'll ever come back. First off, I ordered the burger and waffle fries. What I got was a tiny burger that and literally five waffle fries. Five. I counted. For what they charge, that's just insulting. To make things worse, after I sat down, one of the staff came over and asked me to move because the table next to me apparently didn't like where I was sitting. What? I was completely within my rights to be there, and it felt like I was being treated like an inconvenience instead of a customer. This place used to have charm and warmth. Omg OEB ! It's deffo my fave breakfast and brunch place in Victoria.... perhaps anywhere...yes I think anywhere ever. Honestly ! Solidly delicious home cooked food with a massive amount of modern fusion flare. Yummmo lox or tuna on perfect potatoes and spinach/arugula and aco, topped with perfectly soft poached eggs. First time at OEB today and I will be back often. My new favorite breakfast/lunch/brunch location. Bright, open, warm ambiance, great staff and the menu is unique. From basic breakfast to decadent. The breakfast poutines are delicious and the perfect portion.... Plus... great coffee! Many breakfast restaurants fall short on coffee. There is so much on the menu that I can't wait to try. Sorry but I'm not a fan. It seems all their Benedict's are made for mass production. I ordered a Moroccan benny and it came with a stack of croissant, eggs & hollandaise with duck & pomegranate seeds on the side. Looking at online photos, this seems to be how they do all their bennies - whatever makes it unique is on the side on top of the hashbrowns. I get that it allows them to streamline the orders but I don't want a deconstructed benny. read more
