As anyone with an iPhone knows, the moment anything goes wrong with it and you realize you're going to have to part with this small extension of your soul for even 5 minutes, your heart rate climbs into the thousands, your mouth becomes dryer than the Sahara, your hands start to feel as clammy as a fish market, and the full blown panic attack of all Apple-lovers-with-a-broken-device sets in as you prepare to drop between $160 (for a refurbished) to $300-800 (new, depending on whether it's time for you to upgrade your contract or not) to replace it since leaving it at the Apple store for 1-2 days to have it fixed just isn't going to work for your crazy-busy, multi-tasking oriented, Mac filled life. (If you don't know how this feels, consider yourself warned... It's pretty much the worst.) This panic set in for me a few days ago when I realized the power button on my phone was stuck pressed in -- as in I couldn't turn my screen off, and what's worse, couldn't turn off/restart my phone since I didn't have any way to turn it back on! Yep, you guessed it -- PANIC ATTACK! Enter iToy Repair -- A little unassuming office space at Maple & Nees with this geeked-out, chatty, super nice owner (who can actually *kind of* pull off a fedora...) surrounded by iPhones and other devices all taken apart and laying on the counter, who was able to fix my phone in the span of TWO HOURS for $65. Done. Barely enough time to start going through full-fledged iPhone withdrawal, and it was already back in my hands and working like new. While we were there dropping off/picking up my phone, a number of people came in with broken screens, which he also fixes... and then guarantees for A YEAR. One of the girls came in and he looked up at her and said, "you broke your screen again?" to which she replied, "no... my brother did it this time." Repeat customers -- so obviously I'm not the only one who thinks he does a good job, haha. Sounds like he also does iPods, iPads, some computer stuff, and other non-Apple touch tablets and phones. So when the inevitable happens and your addictive, incredible yet ridiculously fragile device decides to break/freeze/give you a panic attack, I would try here and see if they can help before gutting your wallet at the Apple store. read more

So my I phone 6 phone had water damage. The only thing that was wrong with it was I could not talk into the microphone. People could barely hear me when I talk to them through the phone. My speakerphone worked very well. So come to find out since the microphone is the same part as the charging port, I needed a entire charging port. I discovered that prior to coming to this business. So I called on a Saturday two hours before closing, and the representative told me that they can fix it. He initially told me it's $45 for diagnostics. That fee will go towards any maintenance. I asked for and approximate to change out the charging port, he told me another $50. So I went in right away. When I got there, he told me that it's $55 for a water damage diagnostic fee. Then to change the charging port would be another 75 or $80. No more than $150. Total out the door. I have hesitated and thought that was too expensive. He told me that they have to do a water damage diagnostic. Simply because I told him that I had water damage. Then when I said OK fine let's do that, he said he cannot do it today. I knew something was not right about this business. This little young kid was trying to scam me. And I did not look at the reviews prior to coming. I took my cell phone to a cell phone store across the street from Fresno State on Shaw. They changed my charging port for a total of $61. No diagnostics fee. And they changed it within 45 minutes. My phone is working properly now. People do your research before going to one place or another. I'm glad I did not spend the $150 at this location. I just saved myself so much money going elsewhere and him not wanting to do the job. I honestly believe this place is a rip off, scam, overpriced, especially when it comes to any iPhone. People need their phone nowadays, because it's a necessity. read more

I took my girlfriend's Samsung in to get the screen repaired, because it was cracked and did not work. He said specifically he could get a factory standard screen that would fit like it should. I ended up paying about $140 for a sub standard screen, and i guess he didn't install it properly because half of it is lifted off, which stops the back and home buttons from working at times. I was glad he could get the phone working again, but the only reason I decided to fix the phone was because he promised he could get a good screen. Dishonest. I understand mistakes are sometimes made but since when has the customer been responsible for paying for them. I took my iPad in for repairs and the price changed twice. Once as a result of not charging for an added service and again for under charging for that service. I agreed to the service because it beat out the competitor, but now it just looks like dishonest business practices to get people in the door. Get everyone there on the right page and don't make customers responsible for your miscalculations. The repair was done well, but now I it appears I could have saved money and the feeling of distrust by going with someone else. So save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere. read more
