I've been coming to this location for 2-3 years now. The people are always so nice and my drinks are always perfect. But today 5-22-2026 Friday at 2:00pm I came in and I was going to order I usually pay cash and wait for the cashier. I walked in and this girl named Jaelynn told me if I want to order to use the kiosk to order. Then I told her I'm paying cash if that was ok ? Her response was I guess and rolled her eyes all nasty. My total was $7.25 and I gave her $10.25 so I could get $3 dollars back so I don't get change. She was refusing to take the $10.25 she kept telling me that she already rang it on the cashier box and couldn't change it. I was nice and can you please just me $3 dollars back to I don't get change. And she kept saying no no and was only giving me .75¢ cents back. I told her I gave you $10 the change is $2.75 she kept rolling her eyes and finally after I explained that my change was $2.75 and I I give you .25 cents you can give me $3 back. She finally gave me the $3 dollars with this nasty attitude and almost like I was bothering her. After I got my receipt I was scared for her to make my drink by way she was acting all sketchy. Hi, I first want to say that I have no problems with the drinks but the service has not been great lately. It's been kind of slow but today was much worse. I was there between 2:15-2:30, I I walked in and nobody was in the front. I shouted for help about 3 times and nobody came. I even tried using the microphone. Eventually an employee came from the back and she was pointing, I could not hear her so she had to repeat herself, she wanted me to use the kiosk. I asked if you still take orders and she said "yes but I'm in the back making boba" she then turned around and walked back to the back. I wasn't able to order the size I wanted on the kiosk so I called out for her again and told her I couldn't get the regular size. She got an attitude and said "yes you can" she took over the kiosk and input the information. She then walked away again. As I was coming upon payment I realized I wanted to pay cash and could not using the kiosk. I then called her back again and she came with a very poor attitude. I let her know that I wanted to pay cash, the attitude got worse and I had to go back in my wallet for the 4th dollar, she snatched that out me my hand. I asked her what her her name was she's said "Jayleen" (I think. She was speaking extremely low) she began to walk away again and the gentleman standing behind let her know that he wanted to pay cash as well so maybe she might want to stay at the register. She rolled her eyes. I was skeptical of her making my drink after so many issues but she made it in front of me so that relieved my anxiety. She made it wrong and when I told her that fact there was additional irritation. I got my drink finally and said "have a nice day" and walked out. 3 stars for consistenly bad customer service and a super awkward culture At boba time the drinks are the drinks and obviously if I keep going back enough to notice the bad service something keeps me coming back and that's their dependable drinks that are tasty and refreshing at a fair price. Think the McDonald's of boba milk tea . They're a large chain that offer seasonal items (like mango) all year round, in other words to get a dependable taste they're definitely working with syrups and other types of preserved items to be able to offer that level of consistency with non seasonal items year round Now onto the service. If you ever want to be made to feel like your existence is a nuisance and your drink order is a burden go to this location . What's weird is that it's not one worker it's been at least 4 maybe 5 different workers so I think it's a culture I used to go and order in store but I can tell they really dont like to take your order , they redirect you to their kiosk and sometimes it takes forever for the line to move cause groups and families are using the kiosk and don't know how to use so it just takes forever So I started ordering using the app The app always says the order will be ready in 25 minutes (the soonest available option) So I try to give them the full 25 in case they're busy . One time I went after 40 min to just be sure it was ready and it was BUT (here's the culture Im referring to) They wil not acknowledge you , not with a hello and they actively avoid eye contact (so they can continue to not acknowledge you) So you are forced to be a bit loud with your "excuse me " cause you'll be saying it to someone with their back turned to you So finally a worker turns to me and I say my order number and she literally walks over to the freezer / fridge thingy to check if its ready. She opens the door looks on , sees my drink, closes the freezer door , closes the freezer door and turns to me and says "yea it's ready" and goes back to making drinks . Mind you this is after I tried to politely wait for about 3 min for them to acknowledge (which they didn't) and after giving them 40 min to make the drinks. MY JAW WAS ON THE FLOOR I felt bad because I knew my next statement would sound rude no matter how I phrased it but I could not believe what just happened . So I said "can you grab it for me " and she looked at me like I insulted her mother. Looked me UP AND DOWN and got my drink and put it on the counter God forbid I ask for the drink that I ordered and paid for . It's honestly unbelievable I actually waited to write this review for fear that they might see it and be even less accommodating of my orders in the future (cause I go a lot , my husband who is new to boba likes one of their drinks so Im kind of locked in unfortunately) But alas here it is If you have social anxiety honestly dont go here they will trigger you. Not going to lie, I didn't know if I was ever going to another It's Boba Time location after my last visit a long long time ago at the Chino Hills location. I visited this location a few days ago and can honestly say I enjoyed my drink; regular size house milk tea with boba. Drinks: We ordered a rose matcha w/ boba which spouse liked. It tasted well rounded, nothing special, nothing bad, it does the job. I ordered a Honey Jasmine Green tea, couldn't adjust sweetness or ice but it came out alright. Tasted a little watered down. Food: We ordered a red velvet cheese cake, it tastes ok, the red velvet portion was a little dried out. Service: Here is the kicker! We walk in, no one bats an eye or looks at us. We wait a bit only to realize a small sign pointing to the self-serve kiosk for self-ordering. Ok? That'd be nice if they told us or the sign was at least bigger? It's Boba Time's newest location is finally here in Duarte (another new location just opened up in Alhambra last month). My husband and I stopped by this place a little before 6:30 pm and were greeted by two employees, whom I suspect are the owners (?). We were told that they officially open tomorrow (which honestly I plan on trying to check out after work tomorrow). We ended up trying the following: Watermelon Slush, $5.50 prior to tax- such a refreshing drink, especially on a warm day. My husband picked this drink and really liked it. Drinks come with boba at no additional charge. I had a few sips of this drink and thought it was perfect. I would order this drink again. Frosty Milk with Boba, $5.50 prior to tax- I opted for this drink because I didn't want any caffeine since I have to wake up really early for work tomorrow (I typically wake up at 4:30 am most mornings). The boba was cooked perfectly but was really sweet. But when mixed really well with the milk slush, it was just right for me. I liked this drink and would order this again. ---------------------------- (Total= $11.56 after tax) We have tried the location in Rancho Cucamonga and in Glendale before and had thought our experience was just average but with our visit this evening, this was very positive. This place has good tasting drinks, but the experience is never consistent. I want to warn anyone with dairy allergies that the smoothies have ice cream in them. I order them online usually and ask for almond milk or oat milk thinking it is dairy free, but when I watched them make it in person, they added ice cream! Ice cream in the smoothie was completely unexpected and really uncool for my son's dairy allergy. I should've done more research as the in person menu mentions the dairy in tiny letters.
