Itz A Philly Thing serves quality Philly cheese steaks! I was skeptical that it would not be anywhere near as good as the best ones you can find in Philly, but I was wrong. I got my cheese steak prepared the traditional way to make sure my comparison would be fair. The service was amazing. One of the employees and I are from the same area, so we talked while I waited for the food. He also described all his favorite menu items that I can't wait to try next time. Today we checked out IT'Z A Philly Thing for lunch. We placed our order when we arrived and waited 15 - 20 minutes for our food. First of all, the sandwiches are very large! We loved them, and there was plenty of meat and cheese inside the bun. They are really messy, though, so be sure to get plenty of napkins. We ordered extra sauces, and they were so good, but you do get a small amount sauce for the price. Even so, I would order the Philly sauce again, but my husband was not a fan of his ranch sauce. Bad experience... Only go if you are willing to wait. It took about 70 minutes to get our food. It didn't appear super crowded but apparently there was a lot of people in front of us. The workers although kind were not hustling in the slightest. Upon ordering they told us they were also out of fries and cheese wiz. Not great, but we rolled with it. I changed the cheese selection when ordering to American. When we finally got our food there was no cheese at all which was extremely disappointing. We also paid extra for peppers on the sandwich and there was a minuscule, undetectable amount. They also messed up our egg roll order. Always searching for a "true" Philly Cheesesteak and on the West side of Nashville there's a trailer called IT'Z A Philly Thing. The menu is not huge, but the flavors here more than make up for a smaller menu. I decided to try the appetizer 2-Cheeze Steak Egg Rolls...OMG these are exceptional. Honestly they are a meal in themselves and dipping them in the sauce provided is awesome. I opted for the Original Philly Cheeze Steak on a wonderful Amoroso Roll. You can modify the cheese along with the additional ingredients/toppings if you like and I went with the Original and added mushrooms. The sandwich was stuffed, the steak tender and flavorful, and while the Cheeze Wiz was a good option it's a bit salty for me and I go with Provolone next time. Totally got ripped off when ordering online. When purchasing the "sandwich combo" with a Coke, adding sauce (+$0.50) and upgrading to cheese fries (+$3.50), the total was $27.44! When purchasing those items separately, the total is $22.48. Almost a $5 mark up is pretty crazy. I definitely won't be going back after realizing this. Food is good, customer service is a 0/10 at the Bellevue location. Employees don't even acknowledge you as you come up to the window. Stood there for 5+ minutes before a single word was said from inside the truck. Not a "be right with you", "one min".... Just nothing. I'd been looking forward to this place for a while. It's not in my part of town, so I put it on my bucket list. Yesterday, we made it happen. We arrived and ordered at 6:20 pm on a Saturday. There was a fair number ahead of us, but it's a food truck so it should have been manageable. (Side note: they get a lot of order-aheads and Door Dash so very misleading). They were out of fries and cheese whiz (how can you be a Philly cheesesteak place and be out of whiz and not send someone to the store???). I should have followed my gut and backed out then, but the lady beside me recommended the provolone and American cheeses and said she prefers it that way anyway. She seemed to be a regular and we had already made a special trip for this, so what the heck!?!? 50 minutes later, we are still waiting for our food!!!!! And he calls our name. (There were two guys working, and they were the most relaxed, slowest working food service workers I have ever witnessed!!! They were not working at the speed of a typical food truck!!!!). They didn't call us up to pick up our food - it was to tell us that they couldn't make our order exactly. They were subbing a chicken Philly egg roll for a beef Philly egg roll. So finally, over an hour after ordering, we got some food. Our Philly CHEESEsteaks had no cheese! Not just no whiz, but also no provolone or American. Also, we paid extra for mushrooms and peppers, and honestly, I think there were three very small bits of pepper and no visible mushrooms. I think the place might have a good product idea, but this whole experience was disappointing. Over an hour, changed our original egg roll order, and no cheese and veggies on the sandwiches. Located in the parking lot near a Staples, this is a hidden gem that is not to be missed! The service is always so friendly, and the food comes out quickly and hot. I LOVE the chicken cheesesteak fries--a generous portion of fries topped with chicken, cheese, and toppings like bell pepper or banana peppers. It's addictive. As someone who has never had water ice before, I also highly recommend trying it, especially on a hot day. The pina colada flavor is my favorite, but it's also good combined with the passionfruit one. It's creamier than shaved ice somehow, but lighter than ice cream. I must say I am very disappointed. My family and I map out all the black owed restaurants we were going to support on our trip. This was the first stop on my trip to Nashville and the food was mediocre at best. I ordered the Philly steak. The sandwich reminded me of a sloppy Joe as a kid. It included chopped up low quality steak with my seasoning to it, With cheese and green and red peppers that were not fully cooked. I was not happy. My 4 other guest in the car were not happy with the meal at all. I could have gotten a way better Philly style steak sandwich at another national brand steak sandwich shot. Ordered at 2:28pm, received half the order at 3:18pm 50 minutes later, and the other half five minutes after that. My order was wrong too - the water ice flavor was not what was ordered, and it was a size smaller as well. Nearly an hour to receive food is an atrocity, while seeing people who ordered after us get their food prioritized. No special requests or any reason it takes this long. My friend and I decided to venture out since the weather was perfect for eating outside, and we decided to finally make the drive from south Nashville to west Nash to try this place out. It was well worth the trip and I will definitely be back again. I ordered the original Philly cheesesteak without onions and the medium cherry water ice. The cheesesteak had both whiz and provolone, plus Mayo (I know a lot of purists might be weirded out by this, but the Mayo really worked and made it even better because it melded with the melty provolone). I give it 5 stars but there are a few things that were concerning. 1) as other reviews state; it take 15 -20 minutes for you to get your food, as long as there is not a single person in front of you. 2) the portion is good but you do pay a nice premium for the sandwich 3) the hours are different than what shows on the google search 4) no call-in orders without paying over the phone (I don't feel comfortable paying over the phone and want to order ahead so I don't wait 20 minutes for a sandwich 5) I'd go more often but I honestly don't feel like waiting so long.
