I thinky, they use too much taziki. Gyro and Philly steak makes an awesome plate of food. Their tabouli is amazing and even though they use way too much of it, I really love their tzatziki sauce. I got the Gyro plate, which comes with the option of rice or tabouli; I got tabouli. If you're a lover of parsley, tomato and onion. Than this is for you! **chefs kiss!** - this offered a great balance to the heavy meat and taziki sauce. The Gyro meat, which I believe is lamb, was very tender and loaded with flavor. The portions here are massive, so this would make a great lunch and dinner option, especially if you're balling on a budget. Shout out to their hummus and pita bread. So so good! The best falafel I've had in Tennessee! I've ordered via postmates several times and every time the food is spot on. The falafel is so good and tastes so fresh and homemade. The rice and the hummus are also very flavorful. I really enjoy the food here, for being a hole in the wall it really surprised me. The only downside was I wish they kept my orders consistent. Every time I've ordered it keeps showing up looking complete different. The first time I got a regular salad the second time I got a Tabouli salad. The first time I received 5 falafels and the second time only 4. Great food but I don't want to keep being surprised wondering what I will be getting. read more

We've been coming to this place for almost two years and the gyros was excellent. But in our most recent visit there was a new crew in the kitchen, and when we got home our gyros was awful. New restaurant just opened in August of 2018. It's located in a small strip mall that has a second floor of other businesses. But, this restaurant is on the first floor. I'm the first to try it out while using Yelp App. It's wasn't on Yelp, so I added it. Anyway, I hope the make it because they are friendly and have great food. Simple menu: They have Philly Cheese Steaks. They have chicken philly sandwiches too. Also they have the following other Philly Steaks; BBq philly steak, pepperoni, bacon cheese, buffalo chicken, teriyaki ranch, teriyaki chicken, bacon chicken, and hot philly steak sandwiches. The sides they have are; French fries, slaw, okra, potato salad, onion rings, corn nuggets and fried green tomatoes. ( Definitely Deliciousness) Menu Items Ordered: I got their original Philly cheese steak sandwich, potato salad, and coleslaw. The potato salad was great. I'm glad I decided to get it as it went well with my sandwich. My sandwich was the best Philly cheese steak sandwich I ever had. Why? Melted cheese helped and it came in a open face sandwich. Dine in: They have a small dining room with about 4 or 5 tables. Everything is new including the furniture and tables. So, you can dine inside and it pretty nice in here. In summary, I highly recommend this restaurant. They are new as they have only been here for about a month. Great food and great service is what you will find in here. I hope they make it. Came here for a late lunch on a Sunday. Small place located in a shopping complex. There are a few tables to dine in, but I think take-out is the most popular choice. Ordered at the counter. There seemed to be only two gentleman working and they were both friendly. We chose to dine in, and none of the tables were very clean, so we chose the one with the least amount of crumbs. I ordered the classic Philly. It came out in about 15 minutes. I thought the bread was a little tough. And while the meat/cheese/peppers/onions were tasty, the amount they give you in comparison to the bun is lacking. I only tried the Philly, but they offer a variety of other foods such as pork chops, wings, fried fish, etc. Overall my experience was just okay. This place has only been open a little while, so I'm hoping they are just getting their bearings and will improve over the next few months. read more

Ok, friends said we should try it. Being from NJ and having the best Philly steak sandwiches just a little over an hour drive away...I was really taken aback by the lettuce and tomato that comes standard on the sandwich's here. That is a total no no for cheese steaks. Just sayin'. When the plates came out....they were a little sad looking. It would behoove them to consider a different presentation. Maybe paper tray/bowls so the steaks sandwiches are semi closed and look really full. Jam the bowl full of fries or onion rings and it would LOOK great. So I'm pretty skeptical at this point, but then I taste it. And it is pretty darn tasty! The bread is good, the steak is good, the onions are caramelize just right and I love that they have cheese choices. I'm not a huge fan of the typical cheese wiz on Philly cheese steaks. This is a good place. It is a great neighborhood restaurant. Nothing fancy, disposable dinnerware, but very good food at a great value. There was a lot of take out traffic while I was dining in. The men behind the counter were very customer focused. My favorite spot was their lemonades and other chilled drinks. These were excellent. I loved the lemonade, and tasted the mango and cranberry. Except for the fact that I am diabetic, I would guzzle these like crazy. I got the fried whitefish. The fillet was a bit thin, but the coating was just right, not too thick. It was a bit overdone for me, but still delicious. Rice was fluffy, separated and nice and hot. I liked the pita bread and tabbouleh. Tzatziki sauce was freshly made and delicious. I suspect that if I got a gyro or cheesesteak, I would have rated it higher. This is a good place and you should go there. read more

I'm sad to admit it's been 4 years since my last Yelp review. However, I'm excited that Gyro & Philly Steak has pulled me out of retirement! This little restaurant is on the bottom level of a 2 story strip mall on the corner of a busy intersection. It's not much to look at on the inside, but it's so good! They have a pretty diverse menu featuring everything from gyros and Philly steaks to burgers, pork chops, fish, salads, wings, falafel, chicken nuggets, fried green tomatoes, and desserts. I've personally tried the double burger deluxe, chicken philly steak, fried green tomatoes, and the fries. Everything was fresh and tasty. I was especially impressed with the fried green tomatoes. Very crisp on the outside and not at all soggy on the inside like a lot of FGT tend to be. My boyfriend has had a chicken gyro and he loved it. It was also so big he couldn't even eat it all. The 2 men that run the place have been super nice every time I've been in there. Their customer service deserves 5 stars on its own. They make sure your order is correct before handing it over and they even keep your order warm in heated bags until you get there. I strongly suggest you check this place out! read more

Not only was the food refreshing and tasty, this man stayed open late without being annoyed!!! Came in a few minutes after closing (not knowing) and he was so kind and still encouraged me to order. He took extra care as he made us: three tasty sandwiches (Phillies and gyro), some perfectly cooked and seasoned fries, a salad and even went as far as to make a fresh cranberry/cinnamon drink. I was shocked at the quality of the food and flavor! Loved the fresh parsley and herbs in the salad that made it super refreshing. Even the napkins were the nice thick ones instead of those cheap ones that fall apart. I am 100% going back to try more menu items (or the same ones!) and I'll take some pics. Foot was great. We got the Philly cheesesteak and a gyro plate. If I lived here, I would eat here all the time. The service was good, as well. The one issue (worth a star in the rating) was that the little rundown strip center it is in had a very dirty parking lot and the restaurant could use a good cleaning in the window sill are near the tables. For some reason, driving to M & J from Nashville reminded me of Chicago. It was an odd sensation. It wasn't reminiscent of the Loop (obviously). Rather, I felt like I was back on the NW side, in neighborhoods like Portage Park, Jefferson Park and Norwood Park. I decided to do a little more driving before parking (more on that in a second) and realized that I needed to see more of Hermitage (during the day). There's so much more to Middle Tennessee than Lower Broad, the Gulch and Five Points. If you live here, you owe it to yourself to fully discover your metro. If not, you're missing out... on places like M & J. The sandwich shop is located in a small shopping center/strip mall (same place where Cafe Bosna is). Parking is... not fun. The spaces are tight and this being Middle Tennessee, the cars are big and the drivers are unskilled. 'Harrowing' is a word that comes to mind. After nearly being hit by someone gunning for my spot and thinking better of parking next to the car in two spots, I found a place to park on the side, said a quick prayer and went inside. The dining room is small and I'd recommend coming here to grab & go, rather than eat. I mean, do you, but there's not much atmosphere. There's a rotating graphic menu above the counter but there are plenty of paper menus as well. There are some Middle Eastern eats to be had... but you're here for Philly or variant thereof. I was splurging and knowing this would get me in trouble so I tried to be a little strategic. I settled on a chicken Philly combo (with regular fries and drink) for $7.99. Solid. The food is made to order, so sit down, Insta-stalk someone and take a minute. Before too long, my food was ready. I paid, smiled and left. Easy. As a former Philadelphian (okay, Philly suburbs), I have had more than my fair share of cheesesteaks and chicken cheesesteaks. This was a variant but it was really *really* good. Start off: the bread. The owner knows what he's/she's doing because the sandwich starts and ends with the bread. This was soft, chewy and incredibly able to soak up all the veggies, meat and cheese plied on top of it. I'd be willing to bet (your) money that the bread comes direct from Philadelphia. Rather than swiss or provelone, my chicken came with cheddar. I was initially dubious, but after tasting it, I realized that it was more 'whiz' than 'slice.' Again, well done. I don't get down with mayo so in addition to my meat and cheese were grilled peppers and onions, shredded lettuce and tomato slices. Ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. In a good way. If it weren't for my problematic gut, I would be a regular here. If you can digest things without issue, come here. Come here often. What else? Oh! The fries. The fries were seasoned and somewhere between shoe string and thick cut. The fountain Coke tasted almost McDonald's quality. I'm telling y'all: get out of the well-trodden Nashville haunts. spend $40 plus tip and ordered 3 Philly steaks one with no onions and cut. WELL, I received onions on all of the sandwich and lettuce/tomatoes on one (what the heck) and the sandwich was not cut. The only thing that was right was the drinks. I called and they wanted me to bring them back...WHAT I am at work we don't have time like that.... This place is unbelievable. My son and my husband started eating there on weekends and times I didn't want to cook lol, and I kept noticing their plates looked amazing. They are huge fans of the gyros and wings, but because I am vegetarian, I could only look with envy lol. One day I happened to drop by with my son and I honestly didn't know how broad their menu was, and was surprised to find several options for vegetarians and/or vegetarians that eat fish. I am also extremely picky and OCD and rarely eat out for that reason. I ordered the falafel plate with rice and tabouleh, as well as the max legal limit of cucumber sauce lol. OMG!!! Soooooooo delicious I'm mad I only recently learned about this place! Tabouleh and salad elements are super fresh, cucumber sauce is spot on, and the rice and falafel are cooked to perfection.
