I love this place. I don't even know how many times I've been seeing as I often go and forget to check in. They're open pretty late into the night, so if you get late night ice cream or cookiewich cravings like I do, this is where you must go. I also happen to be lactose intolerant, but I can't stop myself from coming here. Let me also say that they are so liberal with their scoops. A single scoop is actually two scoops of ice cream, which for me is more than enough. You can even get two different flavors in one scoop! So great, right? Also their ice cream happens to be McConnell's ice cream, which is delicious, and makes it so much better that I don't have to go all the way downtown to get it. The one drawback is that it's pretty small. They don't have a lot of sitting space inside. There are chairs and tables outside, though, so do not fret. The business clearly focuses on their desserts and they make that obvious when they give you an "italian sandwich" which is really just sliced wheat bread with mayo, mustard, lettuce and salami on a paper plate. I like this place. Whenever I make a trip to IV I try to stop by for a cookiewhich. It's simple, two cookes with your choice of ice cream in the middle. They have a good selection of ice cream and cookies to choose from. They bake the cookies there so if you're lucky enough to walk in when they place a fresh batch then your cookiewhich experience will be THAT much better. For as long as I've been paying attention, coffee has been marketed as a status symbol. IV Drip understands that, and serves their coffee cups with heat sleeves printed with a promotion for "Breakfast in Beverly Hills". This makes me laugh, because IV Drip has very little in common with the BH. The shop is unfussy, and located at a low elevation in a college town. IV Drip's employees and proprietor are friendly, skilled, and down-to-earth. The shop serves bacon/egg/cheese breakfast sandwiches, ice cream sandwiched between two cookies, a full coffee menu, and probably some other stuff too. This place gets 5 stars for being open late at night! (And yes, I realize this is a college town, which is why things are open late, but I'm old...) Stopped by for a cookiewich around 11pm on a Saturday night, and loved that you can mix and match your cookies. The cookie wasn't as great as I expected, but this was late at night so I can't blame them for not having super fresh cookies. There is a plethora of cookies available, so trust me that you'll spend more time deciding what kind of cookies to get rather than actually eating it. The ice cream selection is McConnell's (which if you've been to State Street lately, you'll know there's a ridiculously long wait out the door there), which makes the cookiewich that much sweeter (no pun intended). Each cookiewich was around $3.95, but I believe it's two for $6.50. All in all, totally worth stopping by for a late night ice cream treat! P.s. Ten stars if I could because I absolutely love IV Drip. My go-to place for breakfast, lunch, sweets, and just about any type of pick-me-up you can imagine. I haven't had the chance to try everything on their menu just yet, so I'm going to share some of my favorites. Their ice cream shakes are a bit on the pricey side, but oh so good. Their cookie-wiches are also really good; I usually get the cookies on the side so that I can savor them separately. My favorite breakfast option is the Morning Glory; it's always made to order so you know its fresh. My favorite lunch option is the Turkey Pesto panini, it's to die for! My absolute favorite cookie here is the s'mores cookie; I like to think of it as one of God's gifts to Earth, especially when they're fresh out the oven (crying emoji). They carry McConnell's ice cream and everything else is made in-house, which is such a plus. You can really taste the "homemade-ness" in everything. Finally, their staff is super friendly, welcoming, and funny. If you go to UCSB or are visiting IV and haven't made a visit here, you should definitely give it a chance. Stopped here for a much needed break driving in between SLO and LA and... completely dark an hour before they supposedly close. OMG the ice cream sandwiches are absolutely bomb!! You can choose different cookies for the ice cream to be put between and there is a wide variety of cookies and ice cream flavors to choose from! The acai bowl is also very good. They put honey, granola, and bananas in it and it is only $5 compared to Blenders' acai bowl which is $6.50. I love IV Drip! read more

When I walked in I was given a generous sample of a toffee crunch cookie (1/2 a cookie!). The place to go form some freshly baked cookies: 1 for .90 cents or 3 for $2.50, or if you feel like making it an ice cream cookie sandwhich it's only a dollar more, not bad!! I'm not sure what happened, but a double scoop is now a cup the width of two fingers. A double scoop that small would be fine if I was paying $2 for it. But $5? For something I could practically eat in two bites? The McConnell's locations downtown are worth the drive if you're looking for your money's worth. Sadly, I once would have given this establishment 5 stars, for being a warm and friendly environment that was affordable for students nearby. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. What should have been a casual outing with my family turned into a nightmare due to the rude customer service that was given here. We ordered two of their cookiewiches and several cookies and proceeded to eat outside at the tables they set out on the sidewalk. Not soon after, a man (who does not identify himself) comes up to us and demands that we move location so that he can take a picture of the restaurant. Naturally, this rude request was ignored by us, as the man appeared to be merely a passerby (who still had not identified himself as the manager, and was becoming increasingly hostile). He proceeded to berate us for "our rudeness" and for bringing outside food to his establishment (we had a small starbucks coffee with us), despite there being no indication that this area is the sole private ownership of IV drip or that no "outside" food is permitted anywhere in the area. To call the situation absurd would be putting it mildly. We finish our meal after he throws his hands in the air, but proceed inside to try and figure out his point of view. We ask to see this so called manager, who then comes out from the back to argue that we were, once again, the source of the discord and that "he is in pain," as if that is some justification for his rudeness. He proceeded to tell us that our business is no longer welcome and that he "doesn't care if we ever come back again." Trust me, I never will, and I will tell everyone about your business practices. Let me just say, after four years of customer loyalty, I have routinely seen you gouge students year after year with price increases, but come back out of respect for the establishment. This was the final straw. No business should ever treat their customers in such a way. Period. Stay away from this IV embarrassment, lest you be subject to the wrath of the hostile manager. 0/5 stars. read more
